SPINCO Toronto Downtown: Avis
Expérience fantastique: Thank you! Took my mind off work ;)
Expérience fantastique: Spinco is the best! My absolute favourite instructor is Lauren Gruenberger!!! Her music, energy and support will bring you back to life - she truly lights up the room :)
Expérience fantastique: Love the classes
Expérience fantastique: Booked a session here while in the city on business. Great location! The vibe was awesome, music pumping, sweat pouring, couldn't have asked for a better workout.
Expérience fantastique: Kendra’s class was the most fun and challenging ride ever. Go to reggaeton class, the best
Expérience fantastique: This is my favourite spin studio in the city! Not only are they super friendly and helpful, and a have a great studio space, they have great instructors like Matt that just bring the energy and fun into the spin class! Highly recommend to check them out!!
Expérience fantastique: I attended a class with Lauren and she was incredible! She brought so much energy to the class and made sure it was accessible for all levels. 10/10 recommend.
Expérience négative: Not an inclusive place to be. I came with my friend who was treated very differently than I was and looked at oddly by other members
Expérience négative: Ummm please don’t try to market yourself as inclusive and non racist, if you and your clients don’t care about it. Brown folks and queer individuals- please stay away. I went to a class recently, and this white lady next to me made me feel uncomfortable with her actions and remarks. The staff didn’t really do anything about it.
Expérience fantastique: Take Matty's class!!!
Expérience fantastique: Clean and friendly spin classes! The instructors and music are always a great workout.
Expérience négative: I went here one time and it was the worst experience i have ever had at a spin studio. I used to work and ride at a studio in calgary, and recently moved to toronto so was looking for a new spin place! i walked in they handed me my shoes and did not speak to me. I didn’t know where the room was, or the bathroom, and thank god i knew how to set up my own bike. Another class member had to get another member to help her with her bike as they did not give any instruction which is awful! I even got an email after the class saying thanks for joining, so it was clear to me they knew it was my first class there and still no help. If you are charging people this much I would expect some sort of help our guidance to new riders.
Expérience fantastique: Nice place for working out, lovely team, very friendly staff, facilities are clean, 5* !!
Expérience fantastique: *love!* SPINCO toronto! this studio developed my love of cycling and they believed in me when i didn’t believe in myself. the rides are 40-50 min, the default being 50 minutes with a 3-5 minute weight section. the shorter classes don’t always lead you through a stretch period, but they give you time at the end to stay and do it yourself. every instructor i’ve ever ridden with has been amazing (especially Ryann, Anyssa & Nat!) and i love the amenities — lockers, towels, cycle shoes, showers, hair dryers & toiletries all included. music is always great and the disco ball never ceases to hype you up. if their schedule offered more classes in the late afternoon, it would be perfect! i’m always looking forward to my next SPINCO ride
Expérience positive: Instructor was energetic and employees are friendly. Class was great, however music and microphone was sometimes so loud it was distorted and muffled. As it’s winter, be aware that wet boots and shoes are everywhere on the stairs when you first walk in and you won’t find any space to hang your coat on the rack. Maybe consider a better winter system, or find a way so that people arriving and those leaving aren’t in each other’s way and their winter belongings.
Expérience fantastique: I rode with Matt & had a great time! He's a fantastic instructor. Great energy & tunes. Highly recommend.
Expérience fantastique: The staff is very sweet! The ride with Matt J was the best I’ve done! Great energy and his music playlist is sooo good too!!!!
Expérience fantastique: Classes are full of energy and keep you motivated from start to finish
Expérience négative: If you want to go to a spin studio who doesn’t care about their clients, and just want a spin class; then this is a decent studio. 1. They never pick up the phone. It goes straight to voicemail. Ironic even if you are calling 15 minutes before the class and there are at least 3 people at the front. 2. They don’t return your emails. I wrote them 4 emails with a very specific concern that was their fault and NOTHING. When I asked if it went to their junk mail, I was told it went to management. Who exactly owns this studio? I’ve spent over 2K of my own money buying passes; NOT ClassPass and you don’t have the decency to respond to even 1 of my emails? In a city like Toronto, you may want to treat your loyal clients better. There are so many options where people pick up the phone and write a customer back within 48 hours. The equipment is old and dingy. Time for an upgrade professionally and bike-wise.
Expérience fantastique: Kirstie’s class was so much fun! I love that she incorporated dumbbells into her class, so that we got to work out our upper body as well. The classroom is slightly smaller than Sweat and Tonic, and it is not equipped with crazy laser lights. There’s a cute little disco ball and a bunch of small lightbulbs on the ceiling. In my opinion that is sufficient for a spin class. Although the changing room was not huge (two showers only), it was enough for the class size. I waited around and I got to use the changing room to myself. Kristie’s got this husky, powerful voice and I was mesmerised! It’s like spinning while listening to a motivational speech!!! Earplugs recommended for hearing protection. Have fun, be safe
Expérience fantastique: This place is really good. It’s disappointing that people write bad reviews because of the cancellation policy, which is pretty standard at any fitness studio or gym. The instructors are great and it’s perfect for beginners. But remember to bring ear plugs or ask for them
Expérience fantastique: Great spin class with awesome song choices. Love Dana as an instructor. She was super accommodating, very kind, and helpful with my bike adjustments.
Expérience fantastique: Kristen Seaton and her class is ! The best sweat and such good energy in her class. Highly recommend this studio and her classes!!
Expérience fantastique: Best spin studio in the city! Instructors are awesome, music is always on point and the energy is just unmatched! Get ready to be absolutely hooked! Justin and Jackie are the best!!
Expérience positive: Cancellation policy is outdated and, quite frankly, takes advantage of customers. Spinco requires 30 days notice to cancel your membership, which means they charge you 1 more month (at $186 that's a hefty price). Example: your next renewal date is the 1st October. If you decide you want to cancel on the 20th of Sep you will have to pay for October. SPINCO, do better; especially for customers who have had memberships for a long time.
Expérience fantastique: super friendly front desk and energetic instructors with good music! the room does get really hot though and more fans/ventilation could be a good area for improvement :) overall nice experience, great location / convenient - am a returning customer
Expérience positive: SpinCo is a space I found through classpass and I love it so much! I like how each instructor has their own playlist (what I also like is they have classes dedicated to certain musicians). They make spinning fun and you get a great sweat in these classes. The front desk team are very kind. They make sure you feel welcomed as a first timer or a regular. My only reason for the four stars is I wish that they had more understanding in terms of cancellations. Sometimes emergencies happen and they aren’t accommodating in that aspect.
Expérience fantastique: The best I really enjoy spinco my sister reccomend it and I've been going since April.
Expérience positive: Matt is the best instructor by far, always has the best playlists and energy!
Expérience négative: The spin classes are good, but the front desk people are very unfriendly and dismissive. The girl with blonde hair and brown eyes who works the desk is always rude and never seems like she wants to speak to people. Would not fully recommend this location for spinco
Expérience fantastique: Awesome location!!
Expérience négative: On my very first class, I sprained my foot trying to get the cleat off the bike. Not sure what was going on but I just couldn’t get my foot to detach. I ended up taking my foot out of my shoe and trying to manually pull the shoe off. Finally, an assistant was able to wrench the shoe off the bike with both hands. The next day I could barely walk on my foot. I had to pay for a chiropodist, who told me not to exercise (or stand…or walk…) for two weeks. I did give SPINCO a call about this and they said someone would reach out to me. Still waiting for that call lol. It’s not the worst injury I’ve ever experienced and I’m lucky to have a job that allows me to sit all day, but it was very painful and has really stopped me from doing what I normally do. Class itself was fine but I definitely will not be going back.
Expérience fantastique: A very energetic place! The staff at the front desk and the instructors are all very nice. The studio is clean and organized. I really love the shower amenities. The app is also very easy to use. The only drawback I would say is that the music is way too loud for me personally. It would hit over 105db! I didn’t know about the noise level when I rode the first time, and my right ear was not comfortable for the whole day - just feel every sound I hear was from underwater. From the second class I have used earplugs so it has been fine since then.
Expérience fantastique: I lived in Toronto for seven months and in the beginning I tried almost every spinning studio in order to find the best one for me. In the end, I sticked to this SPINCO location and came here regularly. The instructors as well as the staff at the front desk here are amazing. I felt very welcomed every time I walked in and the spinning classes are great. I found them to be harder than the ones in other studios simply because the instructors encourage you to add more resistance to your bike than they do in other studios. That doesn’t mean that the studio isn’t suitable for beginners though because you can definitely ride at your own speed without being judged. Special thanks to Meg! Unfortunately, she isn’t doing too many classes in the Spadina/Richmond location but I loved her classes. Not only were the music choices and vibes in her classes on point every single time, she is also an extremely nice person to talk to. The washrooms are also very clean, there’s a Dyson blowdryer and they’re usually not too crowded so that you don’t have to wait 15min to shower which I’ve experienced in other places. I’m gonna miss this studio a lot and can’t recommend it enough when you’re looking for a non-pretentious, challenging and fun spinning experience!
Expérience fantastique: Instructor was great!
Expérience fantastique: Best Spinning Studio in the Entertainment District!
Expérience fantastique: I did a ride downtown with the instructor Erika. Great choreography and an amazing edm/ trance playlist, I had so much fun! I also like the motivational words she would say during the ride, super encouraging.
Expérience positive: Lord have mercy. I gotta give credit to the instructors. I have no idea how they get up at 6am to lead a cycling dance rave with the energy of a sorority sister who just drank her body weight in Red Bull as they shout motivational quotes over EDM tracks featuring the Kirkland brand version of Pitbull and DJ Khaled. I went to the night class and got some fried chicken afterward. The drumsticks were a little dry.
Expérience fantastique: Once you find the instructor that you like, this place is a gem. The music, energy, and the community feels really nice in this establishment. My fav instructor is Max. Definitely well recommended.
Expérience fantastique: Love this place - great instructors
Expérience négative: I'm sure their studio is fine, but I am waiting for a response from their corporate office as the Abbotsford BC branch closed overnight and owes me a refund. I've left several messages and emails with no response.
Expérience positive: Great sweat sesh and the facility is very clean.
Expérience positive: It's a great place for beginners and if you are looking for loud music and are self motivated. However, if you can stretch a few bucks do your self a favor and go to Sweat and Tonic. Everything is better there, from studio, bikes and instructors. -Studio music is too loud and overpowers the instructors commands. There has been a few times were I am just riding on my end and unsure if the instructor wanted us to tension up or down. -Lack of rhythm and difficulty. Maybe I was in the intermediate classes but it often felt like there were no hill climbs or variations building up the ride.
Expérience fantastique: Wonderful experience
Expérience fantastique: Clean studio, challenging classes and friendly staff
Expérience fantastique: Praise needed. Took my first class, I am from out of town and as an instructor I can confidently say this was a high caliber class. Thanks Jacky and Justin ❤️
Expérience négative: The cancellation policy is absolutely a scam. I got put on a waitlist until the day of the reservation. When I got the confirmation that I was in, I realized it couldn't work that day. Then, I got a late cancellation fee charge even though I had just joined the session the day of due to waitlist and cancelled within the hour. Still got a late cancellation fee, which makes no sense since I wasn't even enrolled until day of. Easy $30 scam for them I guess.
Expérience positive: Bicycle are good (most of the time) Instructors 3/5 The room is too tight and it gets super hot inside.
Expérience négative: honestly this place was incredibly sub par. I went on a thursday evening - the changerooms are tiny, thus there was quite the line to go to the bathroom/access the lockers. The studio is also obscenely dark and tiny. there wasn't too much room between the bikes and they have small hand weights in the back of them (ok normal) but because it was so dark and the studio was so squished, when we were trying to find bikes, people were bumping into these weights and there were going everywhere. Also, in the first few couple minutes, there were some people who wanted to adjust the height of their seats, and others kindly stepped off to help them adjust the seat - but then they ended up taking forever to re-clip themselves back in because legit its so dark you can't see your feet. my bike was also awful and really wobbly with a missing weight (why im extra salty). I presume it was just a singular bad bike, but when i went to the front to tell them about it, they didn't really handle the situation very well either. the membership is also incredibly expensive for just cycling, and considering the options downtown honestly I would not recommend. +1 star cause the instructor was super sweet
Expérience fantastique: first time in this place and the experience was fantastic, the place is super clean and the staff that works there is very friendly! from the girl who is at the table in the entrance to the instructor of the class who has a great great energy. Very good first experience in this place ☺️
Expérience fantastique: Great experience with SPINCO and their customer service is fantastic. Got a response to a payment inquiry almost immediately and really appreciated it. Looking forward attending future classes!
Expérience fantastique: Friendly staff, great vibes. Definitely give it a go!
Expérience fantastique: Woah! What a place! This was my first time riding at Spin Co and the instructor, Mercedes. She was INCREDIBLE, her energy, her passion, her playlist... what an experiences. She def pushes you and you leave feeling amazing. Great facility, nice showers, lockers, re-fill water station. Thanks so much Spin Co, amazing experience!
Expérience fantastique: Max and Serena are AMAZING! Their classes are always full of energy. I work as a frontline healthcare provider and sometimes I see people who won’t ever walk again after an accident, or other patients in a lot of emotional pain. On days like these, Spinco’s happy energy means the WORLD. Thank you #fitness heroes! I couldn’t do my job without you ♥️
Expérience négative: A bit premium The rooms are dark . The music and the instructors are great The front desk people could be more friendly and smile more PS: I've attended classes in 2019 so this is pre covid lockdown review
Expérience fantastique: Heaven. Love this studio! Front desk people and instructors are amazing! The instructors have so much energy its crazy! Keeps you pumped with energy during the whole class! Walk in tired, leave energized!
Expérience positive: Fantastic spin studio. Upbeat instructors, clean space and good bikes. The room feels a little tight (and hot) but it gets the job done. The women’s change room is a little tight during peak hours, but it’s the city and everyone always has somewhere to be.
Expérience positive: Great clean studio. Employees (front desk) are a little rude though which was surprising and disheartening tbh
Expérience fantastique: My First Spin/Co?!! AMAZING!!! Awesome instructor!! Great staff! Well maintained facilities! And the best part?? Its i the heart of of downtown Toronto!!! Good jobs guys!!!
Expérience positive: Instructors are a hit or a miss but if you luck out with a good one it's a great workout. Not a fan of the downtown studio due to it being in the basement so sometimes it gets super hot and feels a little claustrophobic because there's no air circulation. They also crammed more bikes into the studio recently. 3 stars for generally an okay to great experience depending on the instructor. Hate the cancellation policy though - 12 hours is a bit aggressive. I think if you cancel 4 to 6 hours in advance you should get your credit returned to you. That is ample time for someone new to book your bike.
Expérience positive: Intense class with EDM music. Staff was helpful and friendly. Clean changing room
Expérience positive: I prefer my usual Summerhill location, but this location is bigger and has more lockers and spacious rest area.
Expérience positive: Favourite place to workout in the city!
Expérience négative: Worst customer service I've experienced. I was a Spinco client for years and I asked to reschedule a class after getting called in last minute to work. The manager was rude and refused unless I had a doctor's note? Give your business to a studio with common sense.
Expérience négative: TL;DR Liem is great! I suggest not reserving a bike in any class that is more than 1/2 full. It's a really small & crowded room and the body odor & heat were apparent early into the class. Those factors in a full class would be unbearable. The facility & amenities are very nice. I booked Liem's class because he specifically has great reviews, and he deserves them. Big smile, great attitude and a fun class. Unfortunately, I had to leave halfway because the rider next to me kept shrieking. It's a spin class, loud music is fine, but repeated, blood-curdling screams of "woohoo" a few inches from my ear (it's really tightly packed) are unnerving. Don't be that guy. One of the counter staff saw me leaving the class and asked if I was ok. Super nice & genuinely concerned. I told her why I was leaving, assured her I was fine and headed to the shower. Here's the reason for the 1 star: Someone quickly opened & closed the change room door while I was showering. Within maybe 1 minute of me turning off the shower, the other counter staff member came in and confronted me while I was naked. I was barely able to cover myself with a towel as she approached me to ask me about it & tell me I "could have switched bikes. I appreciate her interest, but it would have been nicer had she waited until I y'know, had clothes on.
Expérience fantastique: My go to spin studio in Toronto. The instructor really gets you pumped during the class. It's like a spin party with a disco ball in the room. Fun lighting, great vibes to spin all the way!
Expérience fantastique: Front desk staff and spin instructors are super friendly. Their energy is positive and contagious. Workouts are fun and intense. Facility is clean. Keep up the good work!
Expérience positive: Great workout, friendly staff
Expérience fantastique: Spinco is by far the best spin studio in Toronto. If you are looking for a challenging but extremely fun workout this is the place for you. The facilities are amazing (hello Le Labo Diffuser blends). The instructors and staff are so friendly and you feel supported throughout the entire class. Hands down the best cardio ever. One team one bike!
Expérience fantastique: Awesome studio!
Expérience négative: My friend and I signed up for the 2 week unlimited but we didn’t know we’d get charged $15 for missing a class The fee was fine and all, but on our first cancel they shouldn’t charge and just let us know for next time Now we’re out $30 because of some secret hidden clause in the terms I called and talked to the front desk about it twice, and they even cancelled my female friend for free
Expérience négative: Amazing staff and great facility, but I found the classes too packed and too hot in the spinning room. The instructor was amazing with great energy. It was just really, really hot and packed.
Expérience positive: I really enjoyed my spin experience in SpinCo location in Adelaide and Spadina. From the time that I walk in I was greeted with very friendly and helpful staff with big smiles. The facility is very clean, new and sparkling. Several automatic lockers you can use by automatically setting the lock combination when it is open, very intuitive, you don't need to carry locks, keys around. In case you forget your combination staff has special ways to open them. There is an area in front of spin room with several lockers. Women's change room is a bit small with 2 washrooms and 2 showers. The spin room is for 42 people max. I have never been to a light dimmed spin class like this before, music was pretty loud from time to time after the class I learned that they were offering ear plugs if anyone wanted, that could have been handy for some of the loud songs. Although the loudness was bothering me a bit at the beginning I quickly realized that it helped me to sing some of songs loud myself without bothering anyone!! Our instructor was very energetic and engaging. The dimmed lights, small disco ball and disco lights gave the place an interesting vibe. You need to were special shoes for these bikes which can be also borrowed from the facility, it clips on to the bike. There are small 2 pound weight on each bike, at some point we did some arm exercises, first I though 2 pounds were pretty small but then when we continued they started to get really heavy and I was happy that they were only 2 pounds to start with. Overall I enjoyed the class, music, atmosphere the whole experience a lot. Super friendly staff. They were definitely created an interesting spin class experience in this place, good job !!!
Expérience fantastique: Definitely love coming to SpinCo for a good work out. I usually go, once or twice a month via ClassPass, and always get a good work out in. They have showers, with shampoo/conditioner to use, as well as, towels and blow dryers. I often come here before work because I know I can get ready in the studio and then walk to my office. Great spot with lovely staff members.
Expérience positive: As the largest spin establishment across the country, and growing, we had to check them out to see what the fuss was about. The vibes at SPINCO are similar to a lot of other spin studios we see now; white and black decor, concrete, modern and pristine with an underground feeling. The classes we took at their Spadina studio were challenging, although the instructors had very very different style, the facilities are flawless, and the prices are pretty competitive with similar spin studios in Toronto at $25 for a drop-in but a 50 Class pack will drive down the price to $17 per ride. They draw a loyal, young crowd, especially at the Spadina location but they're pretty welcoming to newbies so don't feel intimidated to check them out.
Expérience fantastique: Great first week! Will be back for more! Amazing session leaders.
Expérience négative: THIS STUDIO DOES NOT HAVE PROPER HVAC. YOU WILL SUFFER IN CLASS LIKE YOU ARE IN A SAUNA. AFTER COMPLAINING TO THE STUDIO ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE THEY DID NOT EVEN APOLOGIZE. I FOLLOWED UP WITH AN EMAIL AND STILL NO APOLOGY. I KNOW A FEW OTHER CUSTOMERS WHO COMPLAINED AND WE ALL RECEIVED THE SAME GENERIC EMAIL. CLEARLY THEY STILL HAVE A FEW THINGS TO LEARN ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EXPERIENCE.
Expérience fantastique: Great spin studio! Their 40 min lunch time class is a great way to break up your work day. Alanna is a wonderful instructor!
Expérience positive: This is definitely your "party on a bike" type of spin class, where you will ride mostly out of the saddle as fast as you can go. So if you are looking to improve your technical skills or if you are an experienced rider I suggest going elsewhere. I purchased the one month pass prior to their opening and I was a bit upset to see a 2 week pass (which was much cheaper) available after they opened. This review is based off the 11 classes I took over a 3 week period. Instructors: All are very enthusiastic and encouraging, though I found some of the female instructors more interested in their reflection in the mirror than on riders' technique. Catherine was the only instructor who did proper uphill climbs and heavy resistance and/or seated drills, everyone else seemed to just want to ride super fast standing up with dips and tap backs. Every class there's a song for weights, though the workout never seemed to change no matter who was teaching. Facility: Brand New space so everything is really nice. Bikes are really nice (they're brand new), nice showers and lockers, though it can get quite congested in the locker area between classes. The spin room itself tends to get pretty hot and stuffy. Perhaps more fans are needed? The water station is often a bit of a mess. Staff: Generally very nice and welcoming. Had a couple admin mix-ups that were eventually resolved. Nothing major. Overall the studio if fine if you like to do really fast cardio, party on a bike to fun music and lights (even a disco ball!) and you don't care too much about improving technical skills or building strength. They're on classpass but very few spots are available on there. Generally higher in price than some other studios in the area. Glad I got to try it out and see what the Spinco hype was all about but likely won't return unless I pop in for a class with Catherine.
Expérience fantastique: Love the disco ball mid spin! Great size locker area and change room too. That’s always hard to find for a toronto studio!
