Expérience fantastique: I love the community vibe of this club.I met the owner Mike, he welcomed me to the facility with open arms and he helped me feel comfortable right away. I would Highly recommend this place if you are new to fitness.

Expérience fantastique: Trained with Mike (the owner) for 3-4 months in 2022. Hadn't been in a gym for over 15 years. Also had recurring knee and back issues. Told Mike I wanted to lose weight for a wedding in March 2023 but the main goal was to learn to lift properly and just get stronger. He basically got me to the point where I would come in and do my own sessions. Mike and all the other trainers are super knowledgeable but also very different methods/styles so there's probably one that fits what you're looking for (if you want one). I train at different times of the day and even at its busiest, there's enough equipment to be able to do whatever your plan was. It'll be 11 months at the end of this month since joining and it's the only gym I've been able to say I've joined and actively used for this long. Definitely recommend it if you want to really commit yourself to whatever your fitness goals are because everyone else is on the same vibe. Pic reference: Left was when I first started training (Aug 2022). Right is recently (Jun 2023). I'm down 45 lbs but went from 35% body fat to 20-22%.

Expérience fantastique: My son was ridiculed at school for his physical strength and i could see it impacting his confidence. I needed a place for my 10yr old son to experience the sanctuary of a gym and where we could bond on a different level and also a place where he could build foundations for muscle development. Enter Mike and SHED fitness. This place transformed my son, boosted his confidence which was visible in his relationships, his school life, etc. He actually enjoyed going to the gym, focusing on his health and more importantly pushed me to go the gym and spend some quality workouts with him. Thanks Shed. I'm forever grateful to Mike and this place.

I feel like I’m home when I train at SHED. If there are any bad reviews, I’d question it. I would recommend SHED to anyone who is serious about changing their life. The gym is known to bring the beast out of you.

Expérience négative: Owner is not trust worthy, cheated on his wife and steals people's money. Don't go to this gym. Not 'steel Paradise' whatsoever. When a gym owner is not present, how is one supposed to pay for their guest ? What Mike chose to do was be unprofessional with me and didn't even pull me aside. In front of many members he disrespected and embarrassed me for no good reason. I hope you feel good about yourself Mike. I know of plenty of ex members who were charged on MULTIPLE occasions after leaving and asking multiple times to stop getting charged. I personally got a refund from Mike because I would NEVER leave my credit card information with this untrusting owner. **He also acts like I stole from him which all I ever did was be a respectful member to this gym and keep to myself. Never again**

Expérience négative: Had multiple friends go here to try and support local businesses and all have given up and gone back to Goodlife due to how insanely unprofessional this place is run. Avoid at all cost.

Expérience fantastique: I started going to the gym before everyone had smart phones and iPods. Before everyone was in their own little bubble with headphones at the gym. When we used to workout then socialize a little between sets with likeminded people. Having gym friends that turn into real friends outside the gym. That kind of community still exist here at Shed Fitness. The gym culture here is amazing and not to mention the owner (Mike) is also super cool. It’s a small community but it’s condensed to like minded people that motivate and push each other.

Expérience négative: DO NOT GIVE THIS GUY YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION I had high hopes that Mike was an honest man after connecting with him during all the covid mandates. I joined Shed fitness and went for two months before moving. I asked Mike to put my membership on hold because I wasn't sure when I'd be back. I ended up moving out of the country but Mike released my hold (without informing me) and began withdrawing money from my credit card. When I realized it months later (I should have been more diligent) I emailed him asking why he did that without contacting me first to confirm, and to cancel my membership because I moved out of the country. No response from him whatsoever but low and behold he is still stealing my money (over a year later)! Absolutely disgusting.

The gym atmosphere is a close knit community, where everyone is always encouraging and proud of every small or big accomplishment you make. Absolutely love this gym and the good vibes it has. Mike is a fantastic owner with such good energy and he ensures that is brought into his gym. A place I would recommend for everyone especially beginners who are afraid of the gym. This place will welcome you with open arms with no judgment.

Expérience fantastique: Been at Shed for just over a month now - and everything I've experienced has been first class. Gym: Clean and has all the equipment you need. Even during peak evening hours - you don't have to wait for a bench or machine. It's not as spacious as a big box gym - but it doesn't need to be. Owner has optimized the space he does have. Owner: Mike has been nothing but professional and friendly with me. IMO he genuinely cares about his members. Always willing to help. Vibe: Always good energy when I go. Members are friendly and courteous to one another. Great music too. Overall - a place you look forward to going. If you're looking to join - best thing to do would be to come by and see if Mike's there. If not - leave your name/number at the front desk on a sticky note and write that you're inquiring about a membership. Gym isn't staffed - so if you miss him - he'll at least see the note the next time he's in and contact you fairly quick.

Expérience fantastique: this gym is the opposite of a cookie cutter corporate facility, it has a soul and personality. the old school vibe is impossible to find anymore, its hard core and totally comfortable at the same time. its the brain child of a life long fitness professional with charm and practicality (Mike) and his space is a perfect reflection of his amazingly positive outlook and friendly way. highly recommend if you want more than a place to work out and be part of a community with the best atmosphere

Expérience négative: WASTE OF MONEY This facility deserves no stars. This gym, more specifically its owner is unprofessional and deceitful. He is taking peoples money for a service he does not show up for or commit 100%. He states that his personal training program entails one-on-one coaching gym sessions which he cancels/reschedules on almost all of them and shows up late every time. He promises weekly updated workout programs alongside a whole meal plan, that never got done or delivered. He lacks proper and professional communication skills in every aspect of his company. Instead of using client one-on-one time effectively he chooses to not focus on the client, their workout techniques, or form, and lacks encouragement, to just focus on himself and his life. He constantly complains about his personal life and personal relationships which keep clients longer, large breaks in between, and lack of attention the the client and their workout. He also gets his clients to take pictures and videos of him to promote himself and his ego instead of paying attention and putting in actual effort towards his clients. Beyond this, he has no respect for not only his personal life, but client confidentiality as he will openly talk to others about his clients personal situations… Finally, as he does not provide the service he sells and promotes, by slacking in every aspect, he continues to take money from customers he no longer is putting in any effort for and where the customers have fully expressed their cancelations (with him ignoring all of them for a long period of time and refusing proper full refunds)!

Expérience négative: had payments coming out of my bank account for 5 months after I told the owner to cancel. Mike will ignore you and take your money, but he will respond once you give him a bad review

Always posting on Instagram but can never answer a dm to cancel a membership, then when he says it's canceled you keep getting charged. Has happened to me and others. Thought this was a good place at first but the service is Garbage. Met some good people here as the members are pretty great but the business itself is not done right.

Expérience négative: Mike steals from his customers. I was a member at shed fitness for over 14 months, I was there daily and heard these rumors but didn't want to believe it. Mike is impossible to find in person, he has no schedule there and usually the place has zero staff. I sent Mike a message on Instagram asking to cancel, but Mike will ignore these messages so he can keep charging your credit card. If you bring it up with him he will play dumb and act like he never knew. He can't respond to a dm but on his Instagram he says "DM I AM READY" for new members, clearly indicated hes checking his Instagram dms. After Mike tried ignoring my message I got an email that he tried to charge my card twice last night, then he unfollowed me from Instagram (either cause he's mad or so he can play dumb as to why he may not of seen the message if I bring it up to him) I'm certainly not the first person who he's done this to but I am the one to speak up. This is bad business to people who supported you

Expérience négative: When I began going to shed it was the greatest place I found, and met a lot of great people there. So good I referred two friends. Although I've never had any issues with Mike, I've had too many friends get ignored once they tried to cancel, and continuously had their cards charged.

Expérience négative: The gym may be good but I never made it there, I tried calling for a week to get a hold of someone there to ask some questions about fees and left messages but no one answered or called me back. The gym may be good but their inability to be contacted is definitely not good marketing.

Expérience fantastique: I say that this is the best private gym in Pickering. The people there a like-minded, pleasant, goal oriented, and everyone brings a family vibe where they want to see each person succeed. Mike is a great owner and he’s very supportive. The gym has always been a place of therapy for me, and when I joined this gym during the end of last year, I knew instantly that this would be my new home.

I took a tour of The gym and it had everything I needed . Especially when I was trying to recover from an Acl tear. The other members are absolutely supportive of each other goals . We all strive to help one another. When you come to shed fitness you will be greeted with positivity. My son and I work out together , and he’s a teenager that always wants to hang with his friends but now since I’ve taken him to shed, he’s always so excited to come and work out there , great bonding experience. Expérience fantastique: I started exercising at SHED a few months ago. The owner, Mike, has been fantastic. The staff are kind and motivating. The trainers who work here are fantastic, adaptable, and hard working. SHED is laid back but big on getting to business. The clientele is also very friendly. In regards to equipment, there's a great variety ranging from free weights to weight machines to bands and balls for ground work. I recommend this facility highly.

The owner Mike is so encouraging and takes the time to welcome you and say hello. It is clear that this is his passion and that he cares about both his gym, the trainers and the members! If something isn't working, whether it be with the gym layout, equipment or programs, unlike the bigger gyms/chains, he has the flexibility and ability to make changes. Maintaining a positive learning and training environment is also important to him and you can see this in the trainers and programs that he has running out of SHED. This gym has different equipment than those found at the giant chains and there is always some type of program going on. It is so inspiring to see the athletes, young and old, train hard and even more inspiring to see the groups of ladies, whether it be in boot camps or solo, working so hard to reach their goals! Thanks SHED for the constant encouragement and for caring!

Expérience négative: The owner keeps moving the machines on a weekly basis, you can never find where equipment is as he's always moving it, not to mention how rude and unpleasant he is. He is so rude to trainers that rent the space there. Will never come back to SHED unless it is under new management.

Expérience fantastique: THE best gym in the Durham Region. If you're serious about lifting, conditioning or any form of athletic training, then this is the spot for you. Mike (owner) and his staff are incredibly friendly and sociable, making this a great environment to be in. Lots of great equipment you won't find at commercial gyms and the building itself is filled with motivation to push your workout to the next level. As well, I would suggest talking to both Mike and Cedric (partner) about any hockey or basketball training. These guys have some well-known clients and could definitely elevate your game to new levels. GO TO SHED! Simple as that.
