Expérience négative: While the gym is spacious and has good equipment, customer service could greatly be improved. Staff on a handful of occasions have not shown up on time to open the gym, sometimes showing up over 2+ hours late to open it. They also regularly cluster around the front counter to gossip with each other rather than keeping the gym clean and speaking with members coming into the gym. Some staff regularly talk about not wanting to work at the gym anymore. When the manager decides to show up to work, even he participates with this cluster of staff at the front. However, most often, he isn't available to help support with members' issues. The lack of manager intervention to correct the behavior of motivators and other staff signals an all-around indifference towards paying members.

Expérience fantastique: Been going to this gym since it opened, and have loved it since! Easy to get to from the LRT, Buses, parkades or even street parking. I love that it never feels super full, even on days where it is quite busy, the gym being 2 floors does help with making it feel less busy (which I love). There has been the occasional water fountain issues, but they are usually sorted out fairly quickly, and even then, there are many gyms in the city that don’t even have water fountains to begin with. Equipment is always well maintained, staff are very friendly and know you and will always ask how are doing! I love the recovery room, lots of different equipment and high end massage chairs to help relax after along day! Would always recommend this gym to anyone in the city, and will keep coming back :)

Expérience positive: Good gym, clean, well equipped, friendly staff. That said, for some reason this place has MAJOR issues with water and has since I started coming here a year ago. Showers take upwards of 10 minutes to heat up sometimes. Water fountains are always broken. For a while the fountains would only dispense HOT water, but now all three barely pour a trickle of lukewarm water and it (no joke) takes 5 minutes or more to fill a single water bottle. This has been the case for months now, and all they’ve done is put up signs that they’re “aware” of the issue, but haven’t fixed it. Frustrating to say the least.

Expérience négative: Got my parking validated within the 2 hour timeframe on a weekend but was still prompted to pay upon exit. Not the first time this issue has occurred. Why advertise validated parking on your website when your building management's parkade payment system requires me to pay? Poorly managed GoodLife.

Expérience négative: Came here a couple of months ago. Lazily run with bad management and systems put in place. Bedbug spotted upstairs in the locker room. Out of service water fountains. Spotted a sign that warns of thieves which implies there's minimal effort put in to catch said thieves. Asked to cancel my membership and they did not then blamed me for not catching it sooner. Terrible gym.

Expérience négative: Called and said I left my nice water bottle in locker 19, described it in detail for them. The lady on the phone said no worries I’ll put you on hold and have a male associate check for you. I wait on hold for a few minutes and she told me they couldn’t find it. So I ran back myself to check and lo and behold it was on the bench right beside the locker. Like why lie to me?

Expérience négative: This good life was terrible. The Asian lady with glasses working for the front desk was extremely rude. I asked to use the washroom ahead of sign up for my membership and was asked to leave. They treated me like I was a homeless persons Terrible customer service. Why would anyone want to use this GoodLife. I can see why the gym is so dead. I can not believe how this gym is still in business. They will absolutely not get my business from my family. I recommend to not use this facility as they clearly don’t treat customers with respect.

Expérience fantastique: Literally the best GoodLife in the city. Makes you feel included, acknowledge your presence, and is a community ❤️ so clean, never TOO busy, and has a great amount of equipment. In love with the recovery room and the upstairs lighting >>

As my husband (the client) went here like a month ago changed the account for payment but the lady that was there didn’t update the info. So now he has an overdue and late fees just for her not updating payment info. He loves the gym but the customer service not at all

Expérience positive: Edit: I knocked another star off of my review for the horrible WiFi. You can't even stream music on Spotify unless you turn your data on. This is not a cheap budget gym, there's no excuse for internet from 1995. Facilities are great, staff is friendly and welcoming, and it's only busy at peak hours. Great gym if you can come at off hours. The only knocks I have against it are pretty minor but still could be fixed. - the wifi is terrible, like mid-90s speeds to load a web page - the towels are hilariously thin, to the point that you will definitely leave the locker room a little bit damp. This is a problem at all GoodLife facilities so not unique to them. I get you don't want people stealing them but these are not it Otherwise all good.

Expérience positive: It’s not bad, layout of equipment is super disorganized and all over the place. Be prepared to take the stairs 5+ times per workout to get a solid routine done. Incredibly inconvenient to walk to during weekends as almost every door is locked trying to get here.

Expérience positive: Staff/instructors are very nice, friendly, professional, and informative. I enjoy all the classes offered and the array of equipment they have. Very clean location. Shoutout to Kay for helping me get all set up and answering every question i had with prompt responses through email. The cons of Goodlife itself are that the prices are pretty steep, and the only reason im able to join is bec of the corporate discount through my work, and validated parking is only through certain times. Besides those, great gym to join.

Staff members are always helpful, friendly, and willing to assist with any questions or concerns.Their dedication to ensuring a positive experience for members truly sets them apart. Additionally, I appreciate the cleanliness of the facility and the fact that it's not overly busy

Expérience fantastique: A nice and clean gym with a boxing studio. You can use the parking right in the middle of downtown which is for two hours free for Goodlife members on weekends and weekdays other than 9 am ~ 5 pm. Remember to validate your parking ticket on leaving.

Expérience fantastique: Wow wow wow! Prob the best (as in clean, new equipment and layout) in Edmonton. The recovery room is a nice feature that none of the other gyms have. Also, it wasn't that busy at like 3pm.

Expérience négative: THIS IS MY FIRST BAD EXPERIENCE WITH THE STAFF’S BAD BEHAVIOUR IN PERSON. This is my very first time doing a contract job in Edmonton on a winter season. I always come to this gym through the pedway from my hotel but today for some reason, the pedway through the Commerce building was closed and the security guard directed me in a way that I have to walk all around the building contrary to what he said as the shortest way. I wasn’t aware that the Jasper entrance was closed. To cut it shirt, I don’t know how to get to this gym at all until I have to call this gym and asked. The guy told me which door to come in. Then when I got in to this gym, the White guy and the East Indian women at the desk was laughing and looking at me like they were judging me. I told the Black Guy who greeted me “I glad you found your way in” which sounded like I was being judged for not knowing where to come in, that I am not from Edmonton but from Vancouver and that I am not aware that this is what Edmonton is on a Sunday. I come to this gym on Sundays too but not like this that all doors going inside the building are closed except for 1. I wonder if the owner of this gym had taught these guys the proper attitude on how to be a good staff to all their customers in any way. That is why I only gave 2 stars just for the Black Guy giving me directions over the phone. It would have been zero if not because of that due to their judgmental look when they saw me coming in to this gym. TO THE OWNER, PLEASE TEACH YOUR STAFF HOW TO BE PROFESSIONAL ALWAYS IN ANY SITUATION UNLESS YOU TOLERATE THIS BAD BEHAVIOUR OF YOUR STAFF.

Expérience négative: Unfortunately I need to change my review, all the doors are closed everyday, just have one door to access the gym, I'm not a drug addict, not a homeless person, tired of that lack of infrastructure in that city, you have a place to work out and all the doors are closed !

Expérience fantastique: I have been coming to this gym for over a year and find each staff member polite and respectful to their clients. Staff know the names and general goings-on of their clients and make a point to make a gym session personable and enjoyable. Specifically, the boxing coaches are phenomenal in their degree of knowledge and level of expertise. I have attended boxing classes with each coach and always felt supported by their suggestions and areas I should continue to focus. Super supportive culture and gym atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this Goodlife location and encourage everyone to try one boxing class with any of their amazing coaches as soon as possible. You won't regret it.

Expérience fantastique: I love working out here! Facility is large, clean, and never over crowded. They have plenty of machines and equipment so it’s rare you have to wait. The recovery room is quite cool as well, definitely worth the extra $10 a month. The team here is also very helpful! They’re either very friendly or quietly doing their thing - it never feels like they’re trying to pitch you anything or “judging” you. My only small comment for improvement would be for the person on their “sales team” to be a little more thoughtful. All three times were cancelled when I tried to book an appointment to meet with them to talk about upgrading membership or to look for personal training. I wasn’t even told they were cancelled, I was just told on arriving that they left early or didn’t come that day. Not a big deal, I found a trainer elsewhere with a private gym but it would have been more convenient to work out with one here for me. Overall highly recommend!

Expérience fantastique: Clean, well equipped, good add-on services, nice space and staff is efficient. Yes, it could be pricey but is fair for what you get. Having the main entrance to the mall blocked during weekends isn’t practical but is not on the gym.

Expérience fantastique: Overall this location and the one in clareview are really good (so far the ones I visited in edmonton); by far among the cleanest and least crowded gyms I've been to and always have tons of free space. Even during peak hours there is no issue finding a free power rack. The best part is that they're competitively priced and you get a close experience in most aspects (if not better in some aspects like space and cleanliness) than a super expensive specialized gym like a powerlifting gym. The only issue is that they are a bit hot, maybe some AC or windows could serve them well.

Expérience positive: I really enjoy this gym. It's clean and friendly. But there is a dude that lives in the locker room. Literally has his suitcases and clothes scattered over half the floor forcing members to walk over and through all his belongings. Does his laundry in the sinks AND DRYS HIS SOCKS AND UNDERWEAR IN THE SAUNA. the staff is aware and seems to think its ok. I understand that sometimes people need some help and are going through some things but this guy is clearly taking advantage of the situation.

Expérience positive: Living downtown now and have a few options for both goodlifes and gyms included with my new place. My girlfriend I have enjoyed our 4 experiences here so far. - Ladies up front very polite and greeted everytime. (Especially Raissa ) - Recovery room looks cool although haven’t tried it. - Some people don’t understand location planning and the value of a location like this for the demographic. So not a bad plan on goodlifes part. - Learned living downtown that you get whiffs of that homeless population sometimes Maybe explore why that smell is around the bench press areas ? - Locker room is nice! - The split between levels can be interesting depending on the equipment. - Only downside for my lifting style? Lose a few Olympic lifting racks and extend the Dumbbell section…. Might be the downtown demographic but I never see them all being used and the dumbbell area is always full. Probably become one of my main home gyms now. Always nice and quiet around the 6PM mark. Last suggestion? Have an entrance from outside…. It was a maze finding it our first visit. Maybe toss a buzzer on the door or outdoor scan lock to prevent the street problems.

Expérience fantastique: I have been struggling to find a gym that has a space that feels judgement free and friendly to beginners at the gym. This place is fantastic, Eddie really took care of me. He even took the time to show me around teach me some workouts to fit my fitness needs. 10/10 recommend.

Expérience positive: Facility is nice and new. Like other Goodlifes however, there were empty paper towel holders for wiping down equipment. Water fountain water is warm. Front reception told me parking was free for first time and when I left a different employee said differently. It was a fight to have it validated. All in all slightly above average experience but systemic problems.

Expérience fantastique: If I could give these guys 10/5, I wouldn't hesitate! Anyone who doesn't give 5/5 is out of their minds. This is the single best GoodLife I've been to, and the best in Canada. Here are the standout reps who have went above and beyond to help me out: - Avery - Ashley - Logan - Dilshan - (If I missed anyone, my bad! That's not my intention. You're all amazing!) These guys deserve a raise. These people are the reason I'll probably stay with GoodLife for a long time. They make the experience well above and beyond great, so thank you all.

Expérience positive: Eddie is what makes this gym amazing! His boxing classes and care for you to hit your gym goals is what makes me want to keep coming to this gym. My only downside is I’ve spent 30 minutes looking for parking in which I have to pay which is ridiculous. Underground parking is ridiculously expensive and street parking can’t be found. I wish I could come more often cause the staff is amazing but I don't think I will as the parking is too inconvenient. I will redo my review and give a 5 star if this parking issue will be resolved

I came in for a day free promotion that they have and the worker who sat me down was very pushy about getting a personal trainer after I repeatedly say I was not interested. He went on by suggesting that “is it because of the money?” and I felt very offended. Never coming back here again.

Expérience positive: The gym is nice with new equipment. With all the squat racks and the hip thruster machine makes it a great place for leg day. The equipment was a bit scattered and the free weights areas were a bit cramped but overall a good experience.

Expérience négative: Having had the better part of THREE extra years due to pandemic closures, you would think Goodlife would have figured out how to improve this locations offerings, but NO! It has fallen short on many levels. No direct street entrance, means they are confined by Commerce Courts hours of operation and have to close at 10, instead of potentially being a 24-hour location. Horrible layout in general offers more of a depressing hotel gym vibe, rather than an actual modern health club. No steam rooms, hot yoga studio or spin studio despite these being ultra popular amenities at all modern health clubs. Terrible social media updates as recovery room (main asset of this place) was down for a week but the staff/mgmt informed absolutely nobody about it despite the club being open for use. Resulted in me driving across town in bad weather to use the recovery space and find out after getting there and parking, that it was closed with no tentative opening date... Huge L for goodlife....be better next time!

Expérience positive: EDIT: I've since gone back since my first attempt to check out/work out at the gym. I called ahead this time and was told I could come for a workout, no problem. I was later informed there was some miscommunication among the staff previously. I was very impressed with the facility. It has everything you could need and then some. While it's a touch small, the layout is great. All the staff working were very friendly and welcoming. I spoke with the manager after my workout, who was very warm and approachable ( sometimes gym folk can be a bit off putting). He apologized for the way my first attempt went and let me know. All in all, this gym is needed downtown and I really liked what it has to offer and the amenities. I went to check out the gym and workout on Monday,only I was turned away because there was not a fitness advisor working at 8am when I went. I was told I couldn't workout my first time there without one. I am shocked that a brand new gym would turn away a potential new member, especially considering how big box gyms are having a hard time staying open downtown. I sent in an email on Monday and also haven't heard back. I am so disappointed in this gym. I've waited 3 years for them to open and now don't know if I even want to go there know I was given the wrong information.

Expérience fantastique: Excellent gym. I have been waiting for this location to open up for awhile. Been to almost all the GoodLife gyms in the city and I would say this is the best. I was skeptical at first as it was right downtown but was pleasantly surprised to see how nice and clean the facility is. Also was introduced to GoodLife by Eddie when he used to work at Tamarack and was happy to hear he moved here. Eddie always went above and beyond to help me out, answered any questions and was always friendly and accommodating. There is also lots of brand new gym equipment. I especially love all the platforms they have. To top it off, all other staff are all also very friendly. Highly recommend this gym!

Expérience négative: Not impressed. You have to pay parking between 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Not even a week since it opened and women showers and washrooms are already out of order. What’s the point of the membership if it’s like this. Not all the equipment are brand new, some of them are rusting. Edit: Dec 17. When you want to workout using squat rack and bench press but all of them are being used by powerlifters. I guess it was an event. Manager was there too but couldn’t she think of other members? I don’t want to wait for them to finish as it’ll take hours. This new gym has so much potential but there are so many cons. Sauna was off too. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

They got bumpers, platforms, bench machines, incline/decline bench and everything anyone bodybuilding/ powerlifting would need. The recovery room is also super cool! Staff are overly nice. Switched here from YMCA day 1

Expérience fantastique: Update: washrooms could be cleaner. South Park mens washroom is disgusting; fingers crossed this location doesn't turn into that So far it looks amazing! I walked in today and it's got a lot of premium features. 2 floors, recovery room and coloured glass on the platforms. It's really giving the southpark location a run for it's money. There is 2 hour free parking on weekdays and weekends I believe are free for most of the day. Will update my review tomorrow after my workout. Update: I've been working out here for the last week now. I like it a lot better than other of the locations in Edmonton. I won't be going back to SouthPark.... That gym is falling apart. What I like about this location is the 2 floors, it keeps everything spread out. The machines are all brand new. They have a hip thrust machine which eliminates the need to setup. The bench press stations are upstairs in the corner away from everything else. The stretching area has really cool mats; very comfortable. In addition there is the turf zone. Change room is huge, and very spacious. The free weights area is a bit tight, that's my only complaint. The power racks have deadlift mats on the side, so no need for set up or cleanup. For me, this location is worth the drive or train ride to Central station.
