Expérience fantastique: YOU SHOULD READ THIS BEFORE GOING... This was my first time EVER stepping into a martial arts facility, and my first impression was blown away. First off the staff were such a joy to be around. I had the pleasure of working with Izaac for an intro session, his patience and honest attention to detail made it super fun but equally informative. Parking was easy to find, and the studio was super clean. Overall a great experience, I will be coming back! Plus their free trainings and incentives are super helpful for new people just trying out. Try something new!! The experience will have you wanting to come back.

Expérience fantastique: It took some time for me to walk through the doors, but once I did, I knew this was the place for me. Everyone is friendly, welcoming, and supportive, with much experience in personal training, boxing, MMA, etc. Honestly, I’ve had memberships at many different gyms over the years, and I have to say this is my favourite. However, it’s not the gym that makes it; it’s the people. The coaches are the MVPs! I can’t say I’d stick around if our coaches changed. If you’ve been thinking of trying it out, do it! My only regret is that I didn’t walk through the doors sooner.

Expérience fantastique: I have an essay, but I hope it'll be helpful. I wouldn't spend this much time writing a review if I didn't like the place this much. I lost my pregnancy weight since I joined Animo. I've been doing Muay Thai since 2018 and joined Animo in 2023. I've joined multiple martial arts gyms throughout the Lower Mainland as I've moved around, so I have a good basis for comparison: 1.) The coaches for adults and children are stellar. My daughter loves her coaches here. For me, they're incredibly responsive, knowledgeable, professional, and they know how to motivate you. Their energy is contagious. 2.) The community is very supportive and non-judgmental. You have a variety of experience levels and all sorts of people from different backgrounds, but the culture here instills discipline and respect in a very positive environment. 3.) They have more to offer for the busy professional. I'm a full-time mom and nurse, so my biggest struggle was finding a gym that could accommodate my schedule.They have a lot more options than most MMA gyms I've been to, so I didn't feel stuck. I canceled my Club16 membership because they have everything I need for strength training and conditioning outside of the martial arts classes. 4.) You're not just coming in for a good workout. If you're looking for a good cardio, you can go for a run, watch HIIT videos, or join 30 MINUTE HIT. If you want all of the following: a good cardio, strength training, learn/improve technique from actual professional fighters, and engage with like-minded inviduals -- come to Animo. 5.) You're more likely to find people that you click with because the members are so DIVERSE. I think I'm quite social and I can interact very comfortably with everyone, but in the other gyms, I was often surrounded by teenage boys or young men in their 20's. Didn't bug me when it came to training. I'll spar with anybody, but it's nice to schmooze in between rest periods, you know? I was surprised when I came to Animo and I met other women who were also moms and/or full-time, high functioning professionals who appreciated martial arts like I did. You learn a lot from them too and their experience of navigating a busy life while trying to stay active. It helps with motivation and consistency. Once in a while I like joining the group with mostly big boys, so yeah...a really good mixed bag for whatever suits your mood. 6.) You can spend $200 a month on junk food and eating out. Or for significantly less than that, you can pay for a membership at Animo and feel less guilty about the Krispy Kreme you just scarfed down. This argument was huge for me

Expérience fantastique: I can't praise my trainer, Izaiah, enough! He has been incredible in helping me lose weight and regain my confidence. His personalized fitness plan was both challenging and achievable, keeping me motivated throughout. Izaiah's positive attitude and expert knowledge pushed me to exceed my limits safely and effectively. What truly sets Izaiah apart is his genuine care for his clients. He celebrates every victory and keeps you focused during tougher times. Thanks to his support, I've not only lost weight but also gained strength and a love for fitness. I highly recommend Izaiah to anyone looking to transform their health and well-being. Thank you, Izaiah, for helping me become the best version of myself!

Expérience fantastique: I started attending Animo in August of last year. I was struggling with my mental health after quitting collegiate water polo and moving home from university. I was in desperate need to feel connected to something - while also staying in shape. Keloran was more than helpful to answer any and all questions I had and made me feel welcome while signing me up for my trial. Once you start coming to Animo, you start to understand that everyone in that gym will make you feel welcome, whether you know them or not. Even though I’m not in everyday, every single time I’m in there I am made to feel important and connected to something bigger than myself, and that is such a great feeling. I love Animo, and I especially love the strong group of women I get to learn with in Julio’s amazing all women’s classes

Expérience fantastique: Every single staff member goes out of their way to accomodate families and kids! We've got 3 boys and our family is at Animo 3 to 4 days a week with all their classes. Multi-discipline combat is super important for kids to learn and each instructor brings a different skillset to the table. The confidence and control over the body MMA brings to children is unmatched.

Expérience fantastique: I cannot say enough about this place. Our son started with jujitsu a year and a half ago, he loved the coaches and atmosphere so much I joined. Started with women's only classes a couple a week, then added strength training then muay thai and now sparring. I have completely changed physically after joining. Down 50lbs and have never felt stronger and healthier in my entire life. This got our daughter wanting to join. Familia boxing classes are the ones she looks forward to the most because we get to do them together. Just this week my husband started jujitsu classes to try and keep up with us. No class has ever been the same, I don't know how they do it! If you want a welcoming, no contract, awesome coaches and any class you want this is the place.

Expérience fantastique: I have been training at Animo for a year now. It has transformed me into an entirely new person. Martial arts is about discipline, strength, perseverance, dexterity, respect, and so much more. Every coach at the gym will train you in these values and to be the best version of yourself. Times can be rough. Times have been rough for me, but I haven't once regretted a moment spent at this gym. It has greatly help me keep momentum. I am looking forward to the future to consistently become someone I never imagined I could be. And I am not one to be hyperbolical. Respect.

The coaches, Josh and Julio are awesome and there is a great sense of community and camaraderie at the gym. Well run, and Keloran is great to deal with. Expérience fantastique: Animo is our 2nd gym or our "home away from home". Those of you who have read my review of Ascension MMA in Port Coquitlam , know that's our home gym. Animo is an exellent gym. I am not kidding. 1 thing that truly stands out about Animo is their coaches and the amount of passion & experience they have. These guys care. Whether its fitness or competitive, they want you to achieve your goals. Josh and Julio are not just great people but are just magnificent coaches. Their skills and technical expertise is unmatched and they are absolutely brilliant fighters. Josh also coaches at Ascension (that's how we kkow each other) . They have both coached and cornered for many successful competitive kids and adults. This is just not a review for parents but anybody who is serious about their MMA development . If you're looking for a gym in the maple ridge area, Animo should be at the top of your list.

Coaches are attentive and take time to explain the techniques and drills without judging me for my inexperience. Great fitness and conditioning in the "lights out classes", more technical and drills in the other classes.

He is very patient, possesses talent, knowledge and the skill to encourage kids to learn. They even have humour that makes it enjoyable for the students. When it's time to be focused they keep the students focused and on task. They have compassion for new learners and have the patience and want the students to ask if they don't understand the task. They give detailed instructions which really helps the students succeed. My son really enjoys boxing for teens and adults. He looks forward to coming to boxing and learning new boxing techniques. Boxing has given him more self confidence and better health.

They especially love Coach Keanan, he’s probably one of their favourite people. Expérience fantastique: My 11 year old son tried another gym for about a month but he wasn’t really feeling it. I brought him to animo and he fell in love after one class. He really likes the coaches, they have great energy and make it fun. He’s self motivated to go and signs up for about 6 classes a week. With a no contract policy, there’s nothing to lose. Easily the best gym in maple ridge.

Coach Josh focuses on proper technique and stance and is really good at explaining why this is most important. This is what stood out for me compared to other gyms I tried. He’s also very personable with a great sense of humour. He throws in a couple inspirational and motivational blurbs every now and then and is always hyping the class up and keeps everyone focused and engaged! Can’t wait to go to the next class!!

The staff are so friendly and skilled and great with kids too, especially pulling my shy kid out of his shell. We’ve immediately signed up for a membership. I love the flexibility of choosing different sessions during the week to accommodate our other scheduled activities too! Highly recommend.

It's a small gym but they have everything you need to train properly, including in coaching. We got Josh as our instructor, and he was fabulous. He realy knows his stuff, and is fantastic at teaching the fundamentals in a clear concise manner. It's not my first time taking boxing, and I've trained at other reputable amateur boxing gyms and I think Josh is right up there with those coaches. Great time, thanks guys.

Expérience fantastique: I took a drop-in Jiu-jitsu class yesterday with Josh and it was very good. He was very welcoming as soon as I walked in even while in the midst of finishing his boxing class, he made a point of coming over and introducing himself and showing me where everything was. In regards to the class, Josh was very diligent at making sure everyone was in the same boat in understanding the techniques and transitions regardless of experience level. He also made sure to come around and tweak anything that needed to. He was able to show every transition on a variety of steps and slow ot down to gain a better understanding and prevent unnecessary potential injuries. Very good experience.

Expérience fantastique: I've been attending classes at Animo for the last two weeks now and I've been having an absolute blast. I decided to join in hopes of finding a workout that I would stick with and enjoy after a long day of work and that is exactly what I've found. I've really been enjoying the Lights Out Boxing class and am excited to try out the rest of their classes as after two weeks of working out here I've bee really enjoying working on my boxing technique and am excited to see my martial arts improve over time with practice. A huge thank you to both coaches Keenan & Josh who have been extremely welcoming and encouraging the entire time. Give this gym a try!
