Instructors are well qualified and suggest options for any problems or discomfort you may encounter. The club is very nicely maintained, the staff is very helpful with any concerns you may have. There are rules, and they are for everyone's benefit and keep things running smoothly. The bonus comes in the winter, when I can use the pool classes and other exercise classes for variety, health benefits and enjoyment!

Expérience négative: Where to begin? Initially I was excited to join this gym. It had what looked like a great facility and plenty of options for equipment to use. However, I realized that it was all a façade, I only lasted one week and it was due entirely to the management staff. It really is something to behold to see grown adults run this gym like its high school drama time. They were constantly rude to me and to my friends and even tried rising the price on one of my friends without telling them. Overall, don't go to this gym if you are an adult and just want to focus on working out. If you like drama and childish antics, this is the gym for you.

Expérience négative: The Steam room outdated over 15 years constantly shutting down. Mold in the lockers. Outdated cracked upholstery on the machines. Broken tvs everywhere and 10$ protein shakes with mediocre ingredients. And its almost 100$ a month the most expensive gym in brantford.

Expérience négative: NOT WORTH IT. I just joined Movati after getting a recommendation from a family member. So far, I’ve been turned away twice from classes I signed up for, the first one was hot yoga at 7pm, I showed up at 7:02 and the door was locked and she wouldn’t even address me when I waved. Okay, I can understand wanting to keep the vibe of the quiet yoga so I left. I signed up again for an aqua Bootcamp, arrive on deck at 6:31 for the 6:30 class, the instructor watched me rinse off and then said “oh sorry you’re late! I cant let you go into the pool” like give me a break. Traffic is so unpredictable and even when I left my house 20 minutes earlier I was still stuck. They can’t even give people a 5 minute grace period? And when I called to complain, the guy acted so incredibly uninterested in what I was saying and just kept repeating “it’s our policy, you should show up 5 minutes before class” no where does it mention needing to be there 5 minutes early or anything about a “late policy”. For the hefty monthly price I expected more from this gym. Half the equipment is outdated and the staff aren’t helpful at all. After reading all these negative reviews I wish I hadn’t signed up. And the fact that nobody from the gym answers the reviews just shows how much they care about their clients. Pathetic.

Expérience fantastique: Very nice place,wish they still had the option of higher membership with daycare included. Unfortunately a lot of the other gyms had it but too few people took use of it that they removed it from all of the movati gyms. I bet now on days it would be a real feature if they brought it back. So many parents would be able to go out to gym,socialize at the gyms and enjoy utilizing daycare with higher fee membership.

Expérience négative: Went in to inquire about a membership as they have a promo (one month free) and they had 1 representative working with several people waiting with appointments-so at least an hour wait... clearly understaffed and/or poorly managed. Asked if I could get the promo tomorrow since they were not available to even help me get the membership and the girl said no. Asked about cancellation policy if I signed up myself online to get the promo.. girl didn't know anything. Disappointed.

He is very knowledgeable on nutrition as well as the equipment and will do his best to ensure that his clients have a safe but effective workout. Movati Brantford is a very clean gym as well. Highly recommend!

Expérience négative: Opens at 5am closes before midnight, that might be Good for office workers but this place needs to be 24hrs like it was years ago. I will be canceling my membership and going to a 24hr Gym.

Expérience positive: I belong to a different movati so I thought I would do a workout at the brantford movati. Staff very welcoming. The building is older. It's like a maze so I got lost a couple times. There is one pool co ed. The showers could use an uplift like have shampoo conditioner and moisturizer like other movaties. Also replacing the shower curtains with glass doors would give the bathroom an uplift.. because I'm used to the newer gym I understand this building is older. All aside thank you to the friendly staff for making me feel welcome

My only reason for 3 stars is that I personally am not comfortable here and it is not due to anything that the staff has done it's just a vibe. I also want to make it clear that I do know people that love being a member here so to each their own.

Expérience fantastique: If you’re looking for a good, clean gym that has more than weights and cardio. This is the place to be! I was a member years and years ago, left and came back, left and finally came back again. I had an amazing rate when I first started and yes the prices are higher than anywhere else but you’re getting what you pay for! Machines aren’t old. They’re steel and good quality. They also look mint for how old the place is. These people talking about not being able to cancel didn’t read what they signed. Every gym has a contract and some sort of cancellation policy. They staff are friendly, helpful and make it more than just going to a gym. If you want that royalty feel you’ll love this place!

Expérience négative: What drew me to this gym over a year ago was the women's only side because Brantford as a city is lacking this type of gym amenity. I enjoyed my time when I was able to make it to the gym, but I will say the equipment and the gym for that matter could use an update - especially for the monthly fee $$$. I no longer used my membership so I went in to cancel and was told I needed to sign a form to do so with NO other explanations on the "fine print" part of the cancellation. I signed and two days later noticed a withdrawal for my membership. When I reached out to ask why I was charged after I cancelled, the membership experience supervisor sent me a rude and condescending email reply that was completely unnecessary and is not a good way to retain a customer which is ironic, seeing as her job is membership experience supervisor. Not a great lasting impression at all.

They didn't reply for 6 days after and informed me I must give 30 days written notice or go to the gym in person to cancel. They will automatically renew your policy. Very unprofessional. Go to Profit instead!!! Excellent service and top notch trainers.

Expérience fantastique: I love it there. There is a steam room that's always clean and inviting and HOT. The swimming pool and hottub are also very clean and fun to swim in. I love and enjoy the hot yoga classes personally, but I find them challenging, hopefully I'll get better over time. Equipment is also versatile and safe.

Expérience négative: Inequality in charging genders, women have access to a greater proportion of the gym yet get charged the same as men. I'm not against a women's only area but they should also pay more, it's only common sense. To add insult to injury they preach equality to all "identities", yet fail to do so.

Expérience négative: The staff at the club is excellent. I like the vast space and the opportunity to visit the pool and the gym group classes. However, the gym itself is very outdated. I would say that this is a graveyard of old equipment. Many of them are no longer subject to repair but are still being used. This location is a big shame for the Movati clubs. I will switch to another club as soon as my year pass finishes.

Expérience négative: nice enough facility. Yoga instructors are great! but the other staff are pretty rude. I decided after a month that I didn't want to go to this gym anymore because the atmosphere/staff is not really welcoming or nice so far. I was told I couldn't quit my membership. How is it that you can have old broken equipment, and staff that aren't helpful or nice, yet still force your customers to keep going here for the rest of their contract? I don't even know if who I was talking to was a manager or anything as none of the emails were signed professionally.

Expérience négative: I was somehow locked into a twelvemonth commitment. When I said that it wasn't told to me during the signing process in process I was told that I was informed. I am now unable to end my membership for the next 6 months.

Expérience fantastique: I tried the gyms in town. This gym is the best. Best instructors and just a really nice atmosphere. Classes are great.

Expérience négative: The facility is fine. However, they will not let me cancel despite the fact that I am moving 3 hours away from any Movati athletic. I will not be using their services again, and do not recommend them.

Expérience négative: Went as a guest of a spin instructor. Was hoping to try the facility and possibly join as a member as I am new to town. I was charged $23 for a day pass, I wasn’t offered a tour, a towel or anything else. $23 for a single spin class. The front desk staff were not helpful. However the class was amazing. Will not be joining as a member if that’s how they treat a guest on their first visit.

Expérience négative: I have been a member here for 6+ years and I’m not sure what has been going on lately, but for the past 1-2 months this gym has become so unkept and dirty. The women’s section, in particular, needs a lot of cleaning. The rubber floor area needs to be vacuumed or swept so badly. There is hair, dust, dirt, rocks, and paper towel all over the floor. You can’t even do one mountain climber without a handful of hair or rocks flying off the ground. Additionally, there are multiple hand prints on almost every mirror in this area. I worked out once with all the hand prints, expecting them to be cleaned the next time I came, however they were still there. These hand prints have now been there for over one week. I got so sick of looking at them that I had to clean the one mirror I was using myself. I see employees walking around doing a whole lot of nothing. Perhaps some better oversight is needed to ensure these areas are more well-maintained. What exactly are we paying these high prices for? Also, this may currently be unfixable, but the women’s toilets in the changeroom splash up all over the seat every time they are flushed. Ultimately, this gym is just not what it used to be.

Expérience positive: I have been a member here for years. I do personal training weekly. I have used the pool many times and the classes are always fun. There are cheaper options in town, but this place is great for the pool and the women's only weights and cardio section. There is also a women's only studio. Staff are great. The only issue I have had lately is the cardio machines, particularly the ellipticals, are tippy and the feel unsafe. I'm not sure if the pandemic and the financial stress from that has led to a lower budget for repairs or maintenance. That is my only complaint recently.

Expérience négative: Cancelled my membership because of covid, i received an email saying i could get my old rate if i signed back up a few months ago. I only use the squash courts and nothing else. I signed back up thinking i would have squash available to me. I now pay more than i did before covid somehow without what i actually use the gym for which is squash, they have told me i am not able to play without paying an extra fee which isnt cheap. Good job guys!

Expérience négative: Staff are good. However, the equipment is terrible. The benches barley fold, weights are old and in bad shape. Machines don't work properly and are very old. For being the most expensive gym in town I expected a lot more. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Expérience fantastique: MOVATI Brantford is a great place to work out. The staff are all friendly and helpful and the club is very clean, especially if one is concerned about Covid spread. There is plenty of room in the gym and pool area and I feel more safe here than many other public places. The counter staff, trainers and cleaning staff all appear to take pride in their work. I would highly recommend MOVATI Club Brantford.

Expérience fantastique: I have been a member of Movati since the YMCA closed the Queen St. facility and left everyone hanging. I am one of the lucky ones that has a locked lifetime rate and I understand some of the negativity surrounding membership prices, but as the old adage says you get what you pay for. I admit I tried one of the lower price gym's and put my Movati membership on hold while I did this. I came to realize very quickly the value of Movati as the other gym was atrocious in the cleanliness department. I did this prior to COVID and I can't imagine what it would be like now at those places, from what I have heard the showers are off limits. Movati is extremely clean and the staff are fantastic. Prior to the gyms reopening, I missed all of them as they truly were part of my morning routine. The other patrons there are for the most part the same caliber and friendships are easily formed as a result. Other places do not have this atmosphere and this is a plus indeed!

At 67 I have found that, by working with a personal trainer, I am capable of many things I thought were beyond me. Tha facility is spotless and is constantly clean. Front desk staff are helpful and upbeat. And, can't say enough positive about the personal trainers...knowledgeable...fun, encouraging and skilled! I am very pleased to be a member...a great fitness club!

But that price was avoided. Staff was uninformed about prices. $45.oo sign up fee. Unheard of. 800.oo a year for 1 person. We pay that for family membership at BestWestern. I think we will go back to best western. They are Much more accomidating. BUT UR STAFF IS VERY GOOD LOOKING.

Expérience négative: I've been a member at this gym on and off since it was the athletic club (left because I moved out of town). I moved again and the nearest location is 2 hours away. I tried cancelling back in December and I just wanted them to not renew my membership after the contract was up. I thought all was fine. I've still been getting billed so I called to cancel and I can't do it over the phone- fine I get my mom to go in and cancel for me since I'm now 8 hours away from Brantford and then they tell her to get me to email the manager. I do that and they inform me I need to hand write a letter and mail it in in order to cancel! That it ridiculous. My contract is up. There is no reason why they shouldn't be able to terminate my membership. Very disappointed with the customer service and will never be spending my money at that facility again.

Expérience négative: Constantly cancelling family swim after calling in to confirm it was on and running. After this happen numerous times over the span of 3 months I contacted Movati I told them I wanted to cancel my membership immediately due to horrible customer service and disappointing my three and two year old week after week. Obviously Movati doesn’t like to get dumped, they wanted me to pay for another 30 days. I refused to pay and they said they wouldn’t continually charge me until I pay. Unethical business practices.

Love that they have a good bar for protein shakes and pool and proper steam rooms, but the hours are absolutely terrible that they're not open past 8pm on weekends, and the machines are needing replacing. Plus membership doesn't include towel service when I was going there. Overpriced.

Expérience négative: Low rating is purely because of the price. For someone who only uses a dozen exercise machines, 3 days a week: $65 per month is way too much. Sorry to leave but there are much cheaper options.

Expérience négative: Unaccommodating with cancelation policies; Movati Athletic will take money out of your bank account for 30 days (based on where payments fall) even after you provide your cancellation signature. If you haven't used the facilities at all, their response will be: "doesn't matter; we are not a pay-by-use gym". Rather greedy, arrogant, and inflexible overhead staff for a Gym as highly priced as they are. On a better note, the gym/equipment itself is average at best. Would not recommend if seeking membership. Addendum: 'Movati Athletic Owner' responds to these same types of critiques with: "thanks for your feedback, we will address this issue with our management team" dating back years ago. There is an apparent lag in development with Movati management on correcting identified issues.

Expérience négative: Extremely greedy an inconvenient policies for cancelling memberships. They use peoples busy lives to their own advantage to claw a few more payments out of you till you have time to actually go in and give your signature to cancel the policy.

Expérience fantastique: I joined before this gym opened, and have no complaints. Staff is always friendly and helpful, it is always being updated and expanded. I have dropped in to many gyms across the area and world, and this place has spoiled me. It is kept very clean, the change room is very big. Could use a couple extra toilets, but some gyms you are lucky to have more than one. The toilets are never out of commission, and because they have a dress code and charge more than other gyms, the members are great too.

Not realizing this I let them take money from my account without notice. When I finally noticed I called right away to ask them to put it back on hold since I am 2 hours away. When talking to the girl on the phone, to clarify I asked if everything was taken care of and she said yes, then they send me an email saying I have to send them signatures and all this stuff to ACTUALLY put my account back on hold. If I knew I would have to do all this extra work I would have just cancelled it back in August which I was already doing but the girl told me I could easily just put it on hold instead. I went in person to talk about it and they pretty much just shrugged me off because I got the email saying I need to send a signature so it’s not their issue... I have now officially cancelled my membership there because I can’t afford for this issue to happen again. The people there don’t care about you they just care about the money. The only thing I liked was the yoga classes and the woman’s side. They are always raising the prices when it’s already expensive to begin with....
