Expérience fantastique: I love bodyworks. My husband and I have been going for over a year now and it’s always clean and easy to access 24/7. I use the women’s section and, unlike other gyms, it’s fully set up! We use the sauna frequently and it has always been clean and ready to go. The staff are so friendly and helpful too.

Expérience fantastique: Good selection of equipment. I've been coming for a month now and I've yet to experience it too busy for an enjoyable workout at any time or day of night which is nice. I do feel like for the cost of the membership they should be providing shower facilities. As this is a downtown location I thought it would be ideal for mid-day workouts during my lunch break from work, however without wash facilities this wasn't possible. Their monthly fees if you pay month to month are fairly high. Overall a good experience.

Expérience négative: The young staff are very kind here and friendly. However, the owner is downright a jerk. He threatened to take our membership away all because my husband turned off a light in broad daylight in a well lit up stretching area. Then continued to get verbal in a public setting. We have witnessed this owner rude to his staff and now public. We are done. To the owner good luck. In this very tight market, being a jerk to your clients and staff..well you get what you get.

Expérience négative: 3 years ago, I cancelled my membership. The woman/owner failed to do her part of the cancellation. I have been charged for 3 years (monthly) as she did not follow through properly and cancel my subscription. I check to make certain all major bills payments are coming out on time, but I myself made the mistake to not check what ALL comes out of my chequing account. I don't need to see how much I spent at (ie: a fast food chain, a clothing store, gas transportation for my Jeep, movies, etc.) I spend a a lot of money on holidays, my children, myself, my family. I simply keep scrolling on my online banking, look for the correct amount of a bill, simply check to make certain it went through. I often don’t even do this, as I always have money in my account for bills, life and entertainment THIS MONTH, will be the last month that I will be making bi-weekly payments for my mother’s car I bought her. Therefore, I looked to see if the payments had stopped. I happened to take notice of a payment on the date of the usual car payment for my mother’s car that read, “PARKSVILLE MSP/DIV”. I do recall seeing it one time before, but as the amount was small ($31.50) I “chalked it up” as money spent out with the children in Parksville. I spend a fair amount of money, did not stand out as odd. However, this time I questioned it. I called the BMO bank, and they informed me that I would have to go into the branch so as they could specifically tell me where this money is going to. I did go to a BMO branch, and they kept going back farther & farther in months. The man then went back 2 years, skipping larger time lengths. He stopped at 3 years time length. They stayed open past 5pm, seeing how concerned I was. They told me that the money had been coming out of my account from “Bodyworks Fitness” in Parksville. It took me some time to remember that I went for tanning there, 3 years ago! I went in to shock! I cancelled with the woman/owner and she informed me that it was good after I signed the papers. I do remember she went to talk with a customer before finishing up the work on her part, left to do. My intuition feeling was to wait and make sure it’s handled correctly, but I left. 2 things I have learned from this horrible misfortune that has happened to me… 1- Always keep contracts, no matter how long it has been since signed. 2- listen to my intuition. It’s always right, yet, as humans we doubt ourselves. I did explain everything to the husband/owner, of the woman who failed to complete her end of the paper work, as it was NOT filed. Of course he said that he asked his wife, and she told him she always does this right. Well, I am saying she did not do it right, as I was charged for 3 years for a tanning bed that I never used… for a reason, I cancelled 3 years ago. Could this be why they never saw me again?? Perhaps she does not want to tell her husband that she has made a mistake?? At any rate, they know I cancelled or he would not have offered me a free membership there. I quit as I was having health problems and had to have an emergency Laparoscopy. I was bleeding for a reason, and thankfully the specialist realized how serious it was for me. I didn’t have to wait the 9 months that I was at first going to. This is why the owner/woman said that she would cancel it for me, even though it was only 3 months in to the contract. She was kind about it, too. I did not expect her to not follow through with finishing and filing the contract, or complete her end of the work. As a Child & Youth Care Practitioner, I advocate for children. I will now advocate for myself on spring break, coming up. My school will be closed, and I can take the next steps I need to, as I believe that this is an unjustly act put upon me. I do not want a gym membership, to make up for 3 years of payments being taken from my account, after I cancelled my membership for tanning. Obviously I could not tan, when I began having bleeding concerns, and was getting in asap for a laparoscopy.

Expérience fantastique: My partner and I absolutely LOVE bodyworks!!!! Over the years, whenever we’d visit Parksville, we would always come and drop in, and it was our all time favourite gym. Eventually, we moved to Parksville and now we both have memberships and love it more and more every day. It has become our happy place. The staff is very friendly, the owners are amazing and truly care so much about this space. They are always taking care of the gym, upgrading equipment, it is clean, organized and it always charges me with positive energy! It feels very safe, much safer than other gyms we’ve been to. I HIGHLY recommend this gym!!!!!!!

Expérience fantastique: I have been working out here for a while now and still find it to be a place that I really enjoy going to. It's that simple, but I'll elaborate. - It's affordable for me (especially when you factor in the cost of NOT exercising) - It's roomy for me. Even after some of the changes reconfigured the layout, staff and ownership are continuously tweaking things to improve them. - It's open all the time with controlled access. Can you beat 24/7? - It's got all the machines and free weights one would typically expect. More than enough weights, free weight and double sets of frequently used dumbells etc. - The front desk staff there are all wonderful. Sometimes it's a quick smile and "Hi!" as things are being cleaned / refilled etc sometimes it's a quick chat for a minute as I try to avoid getting on the treadmill for my cardio day. There is an accountability board there and other simple touches that make all the difference that are done by the staff and I appreciate all of them. Thanks BW!

Front desk and the owner Dale...great people. It's a nice to change to have people openly take the time to show you around and share the space. Very clean, organized and a wide range of customers. Great community. Would definitely stop in again on my next trip.

Lots of different areas to workout including a women’s only session. This will be my gym home away from home when I’m back in town!

At least three squat racks plus benches and extra barbells, free weights, and machines. The women's area also had a rack & free weights which was awesome.

Expérience fantastique: This is an excellent facility. Spacious, equipment well maintained and exceptionally clean. clean. The staff are friendly and informative. There a several types of work out area - two floors. Separate stretch area and a room with a massive tv (digital) instruction with many programs to choose from. There is a co-ed area and women only area. Easy access to restrooms, tanning and sauna booths. Have gone to several facilities on the mainland but bodyworks def ticks all the boxes. Highly recommend!

Expérience positive: Just curious if this new women’s section in the co-ed gym is permanent? The old women’s gym was so lovely. And now there’s barley any space for floor work, and a lot of the old equipment isn’t there anymore. Hoping it’s not a permanent change

Expérience négative: Terribly disappointing. When I joined Bodyworks Fitness it was a 100 % co ed gym. Today it is not. After a 6 month absence i returned to my old gym that i had supported in good faith by keeping my membership active only to learn that it had in fact restricted 2/3 of the main floor for "women only " which is just another way of saying " no men allowed " and that is a form of " Gender Discrimination " and i cannot in good conscience continue to support that. I am all for equal rights and all but, equal rights for both men and women which is not the case at body works. It is not the same gym it was when i joined and much of the equipment and facility is no longer available to me simply because i am a man. Therefore I will be cancelling my membership this afternoon.

It takes some time to get familiar with the equipment available, lots there to try. Dale and staff are very pleasant and helpful. Good value and low pressure sales. Not a large commitment to try out. Feels great to be back!
