Expérience fantastique: I love this bouldering gym! The staff are amazing, the route setting is great, and I love that there are new routes set up every Sunday and Wednesday. I highly recommend the (fun)damentals course. It's free and a great way to get some good tips and tricks from some more experienced climbers. After being shown some techniques, I was able to climb some V4s and I'm much better than I was before the course. If you are climbing V0 to V3, I'd recommend taking the course for some little tips and tricks! Can't wait to take some of the other courses here!

Expérience fantastique: First time trying out their game. Really close to where I live. A lot bigger and more problems than the other gyms I’ve been to. Their grading system is different, which I like, the problem could range from 3-4 or 4-5. Bright and cold. Will definitely come back

Their prices are also good compared to other gyms. Their changerooms are always clean. Their setting is always fun with dynamic!! As a beginner I can always find something to climb. Parking can be tricky if it's busy (usually Thursday and Sunday evenings). But you can just park in the back

Expérience positive: Blocs used to be my favourite climbing gym in Edmonton due to the location and atmosphere, but lately I feel like whoever's setting the problems has a knowledge/experience bias. Reds and Oranges today feel like the Yellows used to. I'm struggling to even start an Orange because it begins with a dyno. Maybe that's fine for the high schoolers who swarm Blocs after school but as a working adult who can't afford to get injured I feel like Blocs is pushing me out with their overall difficulty increasing over the years. Now that Niche is open in the south side I don't see myself returning to Blocs as I usually leave feeling frustrated and like I'm regressing.

Expérience fantastique: I absolutely love this gym, it’s set up well and the climbs are great. It’s also massive, so even when it’s fairly busy there’s usually something to climb without waiting too long. I climb here at least 3 days a week if not 4 or 5, and there’s always something to work on. I haven’t used the weight room yet, but I love that it’s an option - if only I could convince myself to do anything but climb once I see the walls! I also appreciate the large space with hang boards and other training equipment - my old gym didn’t have near as much training space. *ETA* Unfortunately they had some roof repairs that meant a large chunk of the gym was roped off - but after expressing my frustration with this, Terry reached out to offer to cancel my membership free of charge due to the unforeseen problems (i.e. water pouring from the ceiling). What phenomenal customer service when the problem was out of their control! I ended up deciding to keep my membership here, since the staff have always been great and I love the gym. My only complaint is that I wish they were open earlier, I’d love to get a climb in before work! Or even open a bit later on the weekends, I’d love to be able to go as late on Sunday as I can on Monday. Hopefully if it gets a bit busier during the day they’ll be able to extend their hours eventually. For now, I’m happy to make the hours work for such a great gym.

Expérience fantastique: Climbing here was one of the most fun times i’ve had climbing this year. I really enjoyed myself. I first visited about a year and a half ago and wasn’t the biggest fan of the setting, but on this visit it seemed as thought quite a bit had changed. A lot more usage of volumes and varied hold types. The new section is absolutely amazing. So many constant changes of angle and many different terrains to climb on. This is a large gym and you will not climb it out in a weekend. Doesn’t seem to be a big focus on aesthetics but they truly make up for it in the movement they provide for the climbers. I also had zero issues finding new friends and people to climb with, they seem to host a great community. Thank you Blocs for the great experience. I look forward to my next visit. Edit: I went again today and noticed some things, very quiet music and not super engaging staff. Didn’t see anyone leave the front desk once in 2 hours to engage with customers, 2 downsides for myself.

Expérience fantastique: There is so much to do; it took me 2 x 3.5h sessions to complete all the orange/yellow (V3-5) boulders - wish I had more time to try their green/blues (V6+). The route setting is intelligent, creative, and fun! Very clean. I see staff periodically cleaning (wiping down surfaces, sweeping floors, vacuuming unused areas of the gym). Great setup to make sure users have access to wipes to clean their used surfaces and a disposal basket after use. They have 2 training areas, a spray wall, moon board, and campus board. The staff seem competent and fun to be around. Music is great. Without a doubt, the best gym for bouldering between Edmonton and Calgary.

Expérience fantastique: This is a great facility. It's clean, friendly, and has a lot of variety for bouldering. We brought my mother-in-law (a first time boulderer) and she had a blast. There were plenty of options for a new climber and lots of fun boulders for someone with a bit more experience. I'm looking forward to my next visit!

The people are amazing, the staff was super cool and thoughtful, and the sets were solid! Tonnes of variety, and lots of stuff from beginner to open level. Really, what made this place was the people though. Wish I lived closer to this place, cuz I'd probably be here everyday!

Expérience fantastique: A well deserved 5 stars. I've been to bouldering gyms in Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver and Blocs is, in my experience, definitely the best. It's clean and spacious with excellent route setting. Price is reasonable. I would have given it 5 stars even before the recent expansion, and the expansion makes it even better with new walls, holds and mats.

Blocs has a wide variety of routes compared to other gyms I've been to, giving everyone of all climbing levels and styles something to enjoy. The place is obviously well-maintained and offers an inviting and fun environment to boulder in. The staff is wonderful as well. Shoutout to Jon for being so friendly and welcoming during my first visit, and chatting with me about climbing and the gym overall. He even gave me a few route suggestions based on my climbing preferences, which I ended up enjoying. If I lived in Edmonton, I would definitely be a regular!

I came when they were under renovations so there was a bit less to climb (still lots of boulders). Took a peak at the renovation area and it’s huge! Expérience négative: This place is honestly one of the worst run businesses i’ve ever been to in my opinion. The staff were rude to me and were forcing me to wear a mask even though i have a doctors note for a mask exemption. I have asthma and told them that me climbing in a mask might end in me having an asthma attack but they still did not care and enforced this on me. I am very disappointed in this place and am definitely going to take my business else where, probably vertically inclined. I do not recommend anyone supporting this business

Expérience négative: Honestly a good climbing gym, however, they continue to live in the past and enforce mask mandates. They will not even accept a valid exemption. Likely going to try out other gyms where you can actually breathe as you workout. It's not nice inhaling chalk for the duration of your climb. I'd suggest that blocs put their political opinion to the side and stick to running a business. Allow your customers to make free choices or they will go elsewhere.

Expérience fantastique: I’m from calgary and just visited this gym today with friends . The route setting here seemed exceptionally well planned and interesting, all the way from V0 to my v6 grade . It was clear there are a lot of strong, friendly, serious members and nice to see people training off the wall . Great gym guys !

Expérience fantastique: Honestly, the full 5 star rating is absolutely justified. Best gym I've ever been to. The layout was very clean, with a circle around a central mushroom, and training areas in the far side. The walls were densely set, and all the routes were very creative. Great use of volumes and the wall styles with the holds. New sets weekly, and the mats were incredibly soft, which is great because the walls were tall! Would absolutely go back.

Expérience fantastique: Loads of fun and challenging problems! As of writing, it's the largest bouldering gym in Alberta due to the new expansion. Problems are differentiated with coloured tapes, starting from V0 to V10+. If you get injured, they provide self-served alcohol wipes and Bandaids at the front counter. There are weights and barbells in the fitness section. Bars and gymnastic ring for bodyweight exercises are also available. Small amount of chalk, athletic tape, and bouldering shoes can be bought beside the entrance.

Expérience fantastique: My wife and I had a great time. I can't often say this about climbing gyms, but nearly everyone was really friendly. Lots of climbing gyms have friendly people, but this gym had only friendly people on the day I visited. The energy and atmosphere were top notch, and we enjoyed the setting and great crash mats. Even if you're a beginner you can spend a long time here and still have fun.

Expérience fantastique: Absolutely phenomenal experience! I walked in after passing the building over 100 time in the last year and i always wanted to see what it was about. Adrianna was a huge help and explained everything to me and after 2 climbing sessions i got a membership! The facility is always clean and the grips and volumes are interesting, challenging, and fun to climb.

You can start here with no experience as well and staff is very helpful. You can buy a day pass for a non-time limit access to Boulder for the day, buy a 10 non-consecutive day punch pass or pay for a monthly membership. You'll need climbing shoes and chalk but can also rent it from here. Good for beginners or experts!

I have taken some beginner climbers here and they have a blast too! With routes made for even the newest of climbers. Everyone is so approachable, the place has a chill, non judgemental vibe that has me coming back time and time again to build my calluses!
