I went in today signed a form confirming everything was cancelled, they came up with a bunch of added cancellation fees and sent me this 1 hour after I left. The gym also smells and is not maintained. Don’t waste your time, go to a real gym

Expérience négative: This gym is filthy. There’s been grass clippings and old razor blade covers in the shower for 2 weeks. Watched the cleaning staff leave this morning with the showers still a disaster. All the showers on the other side of the building don’t even have hot water. Every piece of equipment is covered in dust and filth. I will be canceling my membership here today.

Expérience négative: This gym is an utter joke. Leaving this gym is almost as bad as leaving a toxic relationship. Signing a contract here is signing to be scammed out of as much money as they can legally get out of you Be prepared to be harassed for money or for your own money to be taken out of your account unknowingly. I cancelled my membership back in April 2024, paid the cancellation fee, a missed payment fee and thought it was too easy compared to the horrible reviews and experiences I have had myself and have heard of personally for it to just be as simple as that. Then today it happened. I randomly received a phone call by the gym manager herself DEMANDING that I pay them an e-transfer of a remaining balance that I have supposedly built up since January to April 2024. When I questioned what it was for she rudely said that it had been sent to a collections agency for weeks now. Keep in mind absolutely no one from Anytime Fitness has contacted me about it (email or phone) and zero collections agencies have either, this was my first time hearing this. When I brought that up, the MANAGER (who I didn’t know that I was speaking to at the time) says they attempted to reach out to me, which they didn’t, turns snarky and insists that I need to send an E-transfer to their gym for the “owed” amount when I’m asking LOGICAL questions on why: 1. Am I being charged for a payment on an account that I do not have active at this gym when it’s cancelled? 2. If I did not make a payment, why am I being made aware of this just now and being told to pay it with NO verification or proof of what the charge is? 3. And If I “owed” money from January to April (what the manager claimed herself) why was I not made aware of this when I had cancelled my membership? As it wouldn’t have been possible to even cancel my membership in April to begin with if that was the case. So you can see what this is all looking like … She even told me not to check with the collections agency that it was supposedly sent off to when I brought it up and to just send the money to their email and they’ll confirm it when I paid. So I played it off on the phone with her & told her I’d call back to pay it. She was reluctant about it being a mistake and that I for sure owed money. I immediately called a collections agency that’s associated with Anytime Fitness that they have tried sending my account to when I wanted to cancel my membership. They told me that they have nothing on my file and that they have not issued a claim from them to being say that. I called the Anytime Fitness corporation number that allows you to access your billing and profile and they aswell said I had no dues on the account and my membership is closed. I also went on the official Anytime Fitness website to check for any updates on the account but I can’t even login into it because they don’t even deem my account as member anymore as it’s CLOSED. So I call back and the same person picks up the phone and I asked to speak with the manager, and she rudely says that she is the manager. So then I confront her as to why she’s trying to scam me when the collections agency and anything else that their connected to is telling me that I don’t have anything on my file for them and that my membership is closed with them. She had no response, remorse or apology other that I still owe money despite getting caught in her own web of lies lol If the manager herself is willing to stoop so low to attempt to pocket extra money from customers out of their agreement that speaks all for itself. I’m surprised this gym has not been shut down by the bad reviews alone. Maybe try fixing some machinery or paying some bills next time if you’re going to try to steal from people put it to use instead of having a one star gym. Like I said over the phone you got the right idea but the wrong person to scam
Expérience négative: The worst customer service I have ever experienced. When looking to cancel my membership I could not even locate any staff in the building during “staffed hours”. Emails and phone calls made regarding cancelling my membership were unanswered for weeks, and I was forced to make several different trips to the gym in hopes to speak to someone. When finally able to speak to a member of the team, I was instructed to fill out a cancellation form and ensured my membership would be cancelled. Several months later, I started receiving phone calls and emails from a collection agency claiming I owe the gym hundreds of dollars for a membership which I had been told was cancelled. I then spoke to the manager Maria, who was extremely rude and unprofessional. She spoke to me in a very condescending tone, took zero accountability, and even told me that she does not have time to deal with “minor” issues like mine. She then went on to say I should not have been given the cancellation form in the first place and that this was the employees mistake. This lack of basic staff training is a clear reflection of poor management. I had been given a cancellation form and verbal confirmation my membership would be cancelled, so to then turn it around on the customer is completely unjust. Looking at the other reviews, I am frustrated however not surprised that other members are dealing with the same issues. There was not a single positive thing to say about the entire cancellation process. From not being able to locate staff, to being given false information and then having to deal with collections and an extremely rude and unprofessional manager, I am left extremely frustrated, disappointed, and exhausted. Please do your research before joining this gym, the extremely painful cancellation process is not worth it especially for the prices they charge for a membership.

Expérience négative: I wish I read the reviews before signing up with this location. In reference I have been to multiple Anytime fitness locations and this one is by far my last pick. I did not enjoy the cleanliness and maintenance of this gym so I decided to cancel my membership. I made an appointment to go in and cancel, filled out and signed the paper work, and gave my fob to the employee. My last payment was supposed to be April 16 2024, since then I've been charged twice, while I have no access to the gym. After a hassle and lots of patience, I received only one refund, still waiting on the other refund to this day.

Expérience négative: My son stopped going to this gym in December 2023 they asked him to send them an email which he did they then asked him to come in and sign something to stop his membership and he did( I drove him) since he is 17 I have been charged double for the last three months from this place I have tried stopping them through my bank and they keep changing their name and account number, (shady) which forced me to change my account and my bank every time I call they tell me they’re going to get a manager to call me and I’ve yet to receive a call And when I call now nobody answers and it constantly goes to their full voicemail. this is a deplorable gym. I will be going to the Better Business Bureau and I want my money back and I will get my money back. Stay far far away from this gym Pay the money for White Oaks lol go to Fit4Less but do not go to Anytime fitness I have friends in News media and I will be getting the word out about this gym BEWARE!

They will make it near impossible to cancel a membership, saying that you need to make an appointment with the manager (but shes only available from 2-3pm or on vacation etc etc). Finally went in angry, had it cancelled. IT GETS WORSE. Got documentation of cancellation. Continued to charge us past the last payment date in documentation. Then, like before, impossible to get in touch with “someone that can look into it”. Will act like you are the problem when you call them upset about BEING SCAMMED with no consideration or “wow, thats unusual, let me look into that you!” which pretty much tells me they are aware of whats going on. To owner - you should be ashamed of yourself. What you’re doing is wrong. Scum. I have documentation, and what you’re doing is eventually going to catch up with you. I’ll be filing with BBB and corporate. All these reviews that explain the same thing sure dont bode well for you or your franchise either. Goodluck with your ponzi scheme! Gym itself is usable. Not amazing, but gets the job done. Washrooms are not maintained regularly. Multiple times there has been blood on the sink. UPDATE: still not refunded the amount we were charged past cancellation date almost one month later, even when provided gym with their documentation. Been ghosted over email.

Expérience négative: Horrible gym dont sign up for a membership ive been trying to cancel mine for 2 years have called over 100 times and today was the first time they ever answered any of my calls and the lady that answered had no clue what she was doing at all which ended up with me hanging up on them because they were no help, also sent multiple emails as that is apparently how they cancel memberships even though i never got any email back, I had to go in person to cancel my membership and the lady that helped me finally cancel it in person also was not trained at all i asked her a couple questions about if theres a cancellation fee or if i get charged for anything after i cancel and she was not able to provide any information. Horrible gym ran by incompetent owners and managers do not sign up for a membership with this money scam that call themselves a business.

This gym was not too bad while attending. The equipments were deteriorating and very difficult to contact/talk with staff. I cancelled my membership in April and they are still taking money from my account.

Expérience négative: absolutely horrible, does not return any phone calls or emails, getting the run around, wont give me a copy of the cancellation paper work and now i have had 3 payments taken out of my bank account. crooks EDITED AS OF SEPT 28/2023 They finally issued a refund after several calls and emails, i was not given my full refund and they think this is acceptable because their employees are incompetent & did not close the account when I signed the papers for it. They refuse to give the remaining balance as a refund, DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM. There is better gyms with better equipment and employees that do not steal money from you.. if you like to be ripped off.. this is the gym for you!!

Do not join this gym Join fit for less in the pen centre way cheaper and well equipped.

Nobody has helped me and I’m still trying to cancel. I wish I never joined as the staff is awful. If you’re signing up for this gym you’re signing your life away as you will never be able to get out of your agreement. I hope someone sees this and can finally help me cancel my membership.

After ending a one year contract signing papers etc.. they are still trying to bill my father and myself because my name is also on the membership they are calling me repeatedly sending out mail saying that there is an outstanding balance, even though the contract has ended and everything was paid for. they are still trying to take payments from my dad and sending me mail that says a cancellation fee is due however we have already paid that amount signed paper work back on March 13th and they told my father that the last payment was going to come out on the 27th of March, they took that payment out and then took another bi weekly payment of after saying that they wouldn’t be charging my dad anymore. He had to go down the the bank and show them the paperwork that proves he cancelled the membership and then they had to take the money back and place a stop payment on the account so that they can’t continue to take out more money. They are still calling myself and my father. Anyone joining, just realize you will struggle to cancel the membership, they make you sign papers acting like everything is going to be taken care of, it’s not. Once you join, you’re locked in, so be careful.

Even after I had gone in a signed paperwork for closing my membership back in February, I’m still getting charged now! To make matters worse, they set up an appointment with me to cancel my membership and when I show up, nobody’s there! This buisness is not about running a gym, it’s about scamming people out of there money. Go to the Fit4Less right down the road, or anywhere else for that matter. This place is simply the worst.

Expérience négative: So, I really didn’t want to have to leave this bad of a review because I enjoyed using the gym for the most part. However, with regards to payments and membership I am left LIVID. I signed up and was mislead with how much I would be charged. I should have been checking my credit charges more closely, that’s slightly on me. But I also got mysterious charges and some WAY too close. I had to pay for the rest of the month I cancelled, and this month, guess what was on my credit card? ANOTHER GYM CHARGE. Still sorting it out over a week into the next month. Really hard to get a hold of the owner, too. Gah, just a nightmare I’m glad I’m out.

The owner never works and is impossible to get ahold of. I have been trying to have my membership canceled since December of last year and am still waiting to hear back from the owner after numerous requests to speak to them.

Recently tried cancelling my membership, went into the office spoke to the owner of the facility, she told me she can’t do anything about it and she didn’t have any access to it and I’d have to email. I sent an email and I did not get a respond, had to drive all the way there to speak to someone and when I did I was told to come back again to sign paperwork. Went back to sign a paperwork and was told even though I was done my contract the gym needed a month notice so therefore the would charge me for another month. All I can say is, if you’re reading this review stay away from this place at all cost. $60 for a gym so small and barely any equipments was a ripoff to begin with.
Expérience fantastique: A nice place for a workout that's open 24/7. The members and the people working there are pretty chill too, so a good place overall. The whole one year contract thing can be a pain, but it shouldn't be a problem as long as you know what you are getting into. Looking at the other reviews regarding the cancellation process, I am guessing they must have changed something because it only took me like 10-15 mins to get my membership cancelled. This new guy, Henry, helped me out with the cancellation and it was honestly a breeze. I would give em a 4.5/5

They love to steal from students, who quite frankly don't have a lot of extra $$. You move away and they insist that you cancel in person? Then make it impossible to get an appointment? They do not answer their phones, even when you leave a message, they won't call you back. When you try again, the inbox is full. They will only respond to emails when it is convenient to them. Save yourself the headache.

Positive reviews have gotta be fake… I have been a member since 2019, I haven’t been able to use the gym since 2021 and just canceled now in 2023 after trying to cancel for 2 whole years. When trying to cancel the membership they did nothing but Cause a headache. Don’t bother calling because they never answer even during work hours, wanna leave a voice mail? Can’t, always full. Respectfully, do not join this gym!

I talked to them in person and they took my key and said that I can only cancel over email. When I emailed them they said that that can only freeze my account. When I asked again they never emailed me back and now I have emailed 7 times and they keep ignoring me. This has lasted a few months now and I have been charged over $200 without attending and I cannot even try to go workout there as they have my key thinking I was done for good. The craziest part is, when I tell people about this, they all say that they could not cancel either and the owner is just stealing money, not letting anyone cancel.

Expérience négative: Gym is unclean and usually smells, non existence customer services. Lastly, i've been trying to cancel my membership for 4 months, no one picks up the phone and they ignore all emails regarding cancellation. Save yourself the stress and sign up for another gym.
Expérience négative: They don’t let u quit even if u have a high risk pregnancy with a doctors note saying u can’t workout. Had to pay out the rest of the year even though I wouldn’t be using it for the whole 9 months left in the year and in my pregnancy.

I have been a member from September 2021 to Present and I have been trying to end my membership this October because I moved. I first went in person in August to begin the cancellation process and was denied. Several emails, phone calls and months later, it is the middle of November and I finally have been allowed to sign the cancellation paper. In the amount of time it took to cancel I have been charged $141.24 for a gym membership that was supposed to have ended.

Expérience négative: I have been emailing anytime fitness for the last 2 months asking to cancel my membership as I no longer live in the country. No one ever responds. I can’t even call them as I don’t have international calls. It’s been extremely frustrating as I was told before moving to send a new email as they didn’t receive my old email. I have done so and even gotten a response back saying they need to discuss this with management however no one ever got back to me. I have been getting charged $28 by weekly for the last 2 months for a membership I physically can’t use. Im not one to write negative reviews but anytime fitness leaves me no options. I don’t recommend this gym it’s overpriced and the staff never responds to emails or calls apparently (I had my brother call several days but no response). Clearly you guys don’t value your loyal customers

Expérience négative: If you are looking for a small 24/7 gym then Anytime Fitness would be ok. However, once you become a member, expect the cancellation policy to be extremely tedious and frustrating. They will do anything to try to charge you as much as possible before you are able to cancel. It’s also insanely ridiculous how you can barely contact them through either phone number or email (they rarely respond unless you go the branch itself). They also charge you for an ‘annual equipment fee’ which they will tell you is to help update the gym (new equipment). I’ve been with them about a year and there have been no updates. Overall, you’re better off going to Fit4Less at Pen-centre where the membership rates are cheaper with more and newer equipment.

You must make an appointment which are limited and coincide with typical work hours. Then you are charged an additional 30 days since the cancellation needs to “process”. Do not join this gym, they are dishonest and dismissive. I personally did not have a membership but am speaking on my boyfriends behalf. Trust the negative reviews and save yourself the hassle. Fit4less is cheaper, and far better - $30 a month at Fit4less with access to any location.
Expérience fantastique: Overall great gym!! The staff are really nice and friendly. They are always willing to help out if you have any questions. If you are a powerlifter in St. Catharines I recommend coming here. They have really nice equipment for powerlifting. Great environment as well. Highly recommend.

Expérience négative: After trying to cancel my membership several times via email and in person, Anytime fitness St Catharines continued to charge my credit card. I had a stop payment put on my card due to this. It has now been 6 months and I get a call from a collections company regarding $350 in outstanding. Since I tried canceling my membership in April, this gym took me for more than $500. These guys are a 0 star establishment.

Expérience négative: DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS GYM My boyfriend and I joined this gym in March 2021... I noticed in February 2022 that I was being charged random payments on my account on top of our biweekly payments. When I brought this to the owners attention she initially addressed the issue and refunded me. Unfortunately, it kept happening and I tried to confront her about this and she blocked my telephone #. At this point in time it was around March 2022.. after a year you supposedly can cancel without any fees. I tried contacting the office on multiple occasions to cancel my membership and the employees working said they are unable to do so, only the owner has the authorization to cancel your membership and send you the cancellation forms.. I feel bad for the employees working as they are the ones dealing with this and cant do anything without the owners authorization (AND SHE IS NEVER AROUND) Also I have to mention that me and my boyfriend had broken up and he went into the gym and paid cash for the rest of his yearly membership. Despite this, they continue to charge me for his account even though he paid in full and cancelled his membership... When I went in and spoke to a male employee about all of this he confirmed he did pay for his membership in full. When he spoke to the owner over the phone about it, she told the employee to tell me to "just ignore his charges".. Since the owner had my number blocked and she's the only one who has the authorization to cancel my membership, I was stuck. I posted my experience on Facebook and the owner must have seen as she finally sent me the cancellation forms. Once I completed the cancellation forms, I thought everything would be fine. Unfortunately they said in order to cancel I had outstanding charges of $130?! From where?! I always paid my biweekly payments and there is apparently no cancellation fee after a year.. Especially with the random charges added to my account I am not giving them another penny! They wont answer my emails or phone calls and continue to charge me and my ex boyfriend despite us both cancelling. Complete fraud! DO NOT sign up to this nightmare of a gym.

Expérience négative: I signed up for this gym around the time when lockdown restrictions were loosened. I liked the proximity to my home and smaller size. However, I should have been very thorough with my contract. They charged me during the months that the province was under lockdown and gyms were closed. Every time they opened back up, I was charged for the months they were closed all at once. Yet, your contract is extended to account for the months the province was under lockdown. This makes absolutely no sense to me. As for the amenities, it is a small gym so from when I used the location, there were not many racks, the equipment was not properly maintained, and there was always a bad odor. I have not visited the location in over a year so I can’t speak for the amenities now or any improvements they have made since. The staff was not the most helpful and quite often dismissive regarding cancelation. It took over 2 months to receive a response regarding the cancelation process, and that was after I went to the location in person. Overall, I did not have a good experience with this location. I have visited other locations and they were very clean, staff was friendly and the equipment was in better condition. I hope the staff takes this up to corporate to make the cancelation process smoother.

Expérience fantastique: Staff is very welcoming and friendly, improvements are consistently being made, open to requests and complaints, enough equipment for all my workouts, not crowded as some other gyms are. I would definitely recommend.

Expérience fantastique: Small sized gym but they try to make the most of the space that they have :) they recently got a new squat rack and have taken steps to address some of the member feedback that they previously received. I appreciate the recent improvements and love the fact that they’re actually open 24 hrs.
Expérience fantastique: I had a great experience at this gym!! All machines are clean and work properly and rarely ever have to wait to use the machine you want. Also, staff was very accommodating and friendly! Would recommend 100% to anyone who wants a quite and clean place to workout.

Expérience négative: please avoid this place, I've been tryting to cancel my membership since February and I haven't been able to, even though I'm meeting the requirements according to the contract, I feel mocked, ignored and sad because im paying for something I'm not using. I even give back the fob that They gave me , I don't know what to do. I feel terrible.
Expérience fantastique: The staff is great! Ali has been amazing, always offering a hand, giving tips and suggestions and being a familiar face. I have been coming to this gym for months and the bathrooms are always clean, equipment is well managed and it has everything I need for a good workout. New equipment is also being added and the employees are lifters themselves so they care about the quality of the equipment and make sure nothing but the best is being added to the gyms equipment arsenal.
Expérience fantastique: Gym is clean. Staff is friendly, especially Ali. Dude is such a nice guy, give him a raise. If you book a PT (Personal Trainer), book here at AnyTime Fitness. The other gyms in St. Catharines are not as good

Expérience fantastique: Excellent gym located in the Niagara Region. Clean space, friendly and motivating staff, and the owners are great people who are continually upgrading the space to meet their members needs. Would highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a clean space to workout!!

Expérience positive: I tried to cancel my membership due to a move and was refused as many of the other reviews state. I was able to juggle some things around to stay in St. Catharines for the Summer. I have received a reply that my auto-renew will be turned off once my contract ends but in the interim I have been using the facility quite a bit. There is a male staff who is usually working when I go and he is extremely friendly! Always says hello and will even help me rerack or move my weights at the end of my workout. I enjoy that the gym is open 24/7, it makes it very flexible to get a workout in. I've definitely seen improvement in the cleanliness, staffing, and email responses in the last few months.

Expérience négative: Don’t go to this place. Whether it be the high monthly fees, or the fact that the customer service is the worst I have ever seen. The showers are never hot, and the lack of equipment is made up with nothing. Overall completely disappointing and dissatisfied. Have been trying to cancel my membership since the 2nd day I got it and have so far gotten limited email responses.
