Expérience négative: Do not go to this location. I had called in June to cancel my account 3 different times and they did not cancel it. I now have to pay a 220$ because they had placed my account into collections. I had gone to this gym for two years but when I wanted to canceled they ignore every message I left and never canceled my account. For some reason they said that nothing was noted in the account. They said they sent email I can assure you they did not. The voicemail they left was automated and when I called because one of those 3 times I left another voice mail. When called in they did not help me in any way and pretty much said to bad.

Expérience négative: I was greeted by bad client service by Jen on October 2. I went in to sign up for the $1 deal. I was told it ended a day after I signed up despite this being the only sign up option online for Weston. I barely managed to get an explanation out due to the staff member denying my input, attempting to put the issue on me and continuously speaking over me. I would recommend staff understand the needs of the client and attempt to uncover and resolve issues. I would not have shown up had the business updated their website and advertising accordingly. I work with my own clients and in no situation would I ever let a customer stand up and prepare to walk out 5 minutes after entering due to an issue initiated by company error. Edit: I cancelled.

Expérience fantastique: At Anytime fitness the staff and trainers have been very supportive in my fitness journey. The community is warm and inviting. I feel comfortable stepping into the gym and meeting my goals while also being motivated. Great space to work out in as well as a clean facility. I love spending my time here!

Expérience fantastique: Few things I enjoy the most about this gym is that it doesn't get super packed and busy, soo far haven't had to wait to use equipment or washrooms (they got 3) & overall it feels like having your own private gym..Melissa was so kind to allow my mother workout one day & Jenn always provides answers to nutrition and fitness questions. They have special machine that does a complete health assessment for $50..stationary bike classes, I think they also have yoga classes...price is reasonable (less than $70 per month)...Overall I can show up whenever I want and be around some great people!
Expérience positive: Nonsensical changerooms (only 3 private rooms/showers), only two weight racks, and an overall small space mean you're constantly waiting.
Expérience négative: I only went in for a tour, but I found it way too expensive, especially for such a small space. I have a small gym in my building, so I don't gain much. I usually go to planet fitness for about a third of the cost, way more space, and more amenities.
Expérience négative: I’ve been a member since it opened. Beginning it was run much better but slowly going downhill.The key fab/ doors don’t open all the time ? I pay good money to be a member. I have shown up at the gym numerous times in the last year to work out but being denied entry because of their doors system ? They have 3 entrances from the street ? They do not work ? Also the hand dryer in washroom # 3 has been broken for over a year ? My wife and son go to LA Fitness and love it ?

Expérience fantastique: Amazing gym with great atmosphere and view and a great place to work out!
Expérience négative: I did not get to use this gym, I wouldn't want to take advantage of a free pass when I wasn't willing to set up a plan, it seems to be the most expensive gym with the least amount of amenities. La fitness is cheaper with a pool/basketball court down the road and the cities recreational facility is cheaper with a pool/basketball court also down the road. Planet fitness has tanning, massage beds, red light therapy and is only 10 min drive. All these gyms in the surrounding area I'm not sure what the marketing plan is here, charge high and look the customers in the eye? Bold.
Expérience négative: 11 am on Friday and I came here to get information and I rang the bell many times and nobody came up to give me information. *Poor customer service*. You also have to walk a lot to get to the gym from the parking.

Expérience négative: Beware of the fake 5 star reviews from their friends. Please read through the reviews and notice when they receive negative feedback, ALL their replies turn around and attack the customer instead of to apologize and take accountability. Another thing I’ve notice is that no one has an issue with the gym itself. There negative reviews come from their terrible customer service. I had a terrible interaction with Melissa who seems to be the subject of poor customer service quite often. So bad I had to call head office to fix an issue I had with my membership. Head office’s reply: “ we have serval issue with people complaining about that location.” It’s fine with you are having a bad day. Everyone has those. Just take accountability because the evidence of your terrible customer is well documented. Be careful to all join to this gym. If you aren’t one of their friends. One wrong interaction and they are looking to ban you from the gym AND they’ll blame you in the review reply

Expérience négative: I recently visited Anytime Fitness located at 207-30 Weston Rd, Toronto ON M6N 5H3, Canada, with enthusiasm about potentially becoming a member. While the gym's prices seemed reasonable, albeit higher than competitors like GoodLife, the proximity to my residence made it an attractive choice. However, I had a rather disheartening interaction with the manager, Jean. Unfortunately, Jean's approach lacked the essence of customer service. During our discussion about membership prices and terms, she conveyed the details in a manner that felt dismissive and impersonal. I felt as if I was being granted a favor rather than being welcomed as a potential loyal customer. Further, I was taken aback by the imposition of a $99 enrollment fee, especially since I was committing to a one-year contract with automatic bi-weekly payments. In my understanding, such fees are typically charged when members opt for flexible, short-term contracts. This felt like an unnecessary expense and left a sour taste. I also observed that the gym, despite its higher pricing, had limited equipment that had to be shared among many users. This raised concerns about the value I'd be getting for my money. What compounded my disappointment was Jean's reaction when I expressed my concerns. She appeared indifferent to my feelings, and it was evident that retaining a potential member was not a priority for her. I wasn’t the only one who felt this way; I noticed another group leaving for similar reasons. If I may offer a suggestion for the betterment of your establishment: consider training your staff, especially those in managerial positions, to handle customer interactions with more empathy, warmth, and clarity. Effective communication about financial obligations, especially unexpected fees, can make all the difference in creating a lasting positive impression. We can assure you that our staff is notifying every member on each section of the agreement because in order to move on to the next section the member needs to initial before moving on with the agreement but you would have known that if you got a agreement at this location. Expérience négative: Don't waste your money going to this gym, it might seem cool to have 24/7 access but you will rarely want to show up too late there is a weirdo that shows up after 10pm or so. Super overpriced for a tiny gym with 2 racks and no equipment. Go literally anywhere else.

Anytime Fitness's are not warehouse or big boxed gyms & we have never claimed to be one. We offer a convenience, safe, clean facility allowing people to stay active 24/7. Expérience fantastique: I miss this gym so much! I moved around peak of covid times and i have been disappointed with all the gyms around me ever since. I was a member for 2-3 years and It’s always clean, it’s spacious, the members are respectful and are not creepy at all. all the equipment you need is there, overall atmosphere is 10/10. I participated in their classes and even personal training. I hit a lot of PRs while taking their personal training courses which made the investment worth it. Local gyms around that area just do not compare, I was a member in all the gyms within that 3-5km radius at one point and Antime Fitness was my favourite by far. The investment is worth it. A lot of the poor reviews are from people who simply do not read their contracts. Anytime fitness has always respected and followed protocols as outlined in the agreements that clients should be understanding before they sign. Love love love love this gym!

Expérience positive: Very clean and friendly environment. The gym had everything of my needs and it’s located in a convenient area. I would say price is a bit steep but I guess the fact it is open 24/7 compensates it. Would recommend to anyone regardless.

Expérience positive: I give it a decent experience. I would give it a rating score of 75% to 80 % to be honest. pros clean. very clean and very well kept by the girl managers there. You know who you are. as of june 2023. decent equipment decent people that attend. Not a lot of people that are rude which is nice. People mind their space and I find people to be frendly enough even with a some banter here and there. I mean to be honest. There is some little bickering among people that train but it is friendly in the end. So it is cool. The gym is small. It feels like (honestly) a gym inside a condo. NO JOKE. decent access to good gym staff that know their things. I actually miss some of the trainers that have left. The environment around the neighborhood is pretty nice. There is a lot of shops. There is a ton of really cool people that work around in Chipotle, mcdonalds, tim hortons etc etc etc... The environment is like a mall. shopping friendly , you can chill or have a drink at dollarama or any other store. However - the cons. The price structure of the gym. kind of pricey. the policy of the fob. Very strict be very aware of it and just know that there are NO exceptions. You do not have a fob you do not come in. It is bad. So you have to be careful. The space of the gym, while very well thought out is not huge but that is what also gives it intimacy. So overall. I would recomment someone or anyone mainly because 1) the gym is literally open 24 horus. 2) the basic price of membership is completely the same or similar to l. a fitness and even goodlife fitness. Almost same price. So honestly. If you want a gym that is open 24 hours and just do your thing without being pushed by sales people like goodlife. I would go here. For the price is the same thing . The only thing is that we do not have a sauna or pool. But other gyms have closing hours that are like 10 pm and also very very poor equipment. At least these guys replace them every now and then. I dunno. Honestly if you are looking for a simple basic gym that has decent equipment and nobody messes with you. Same price as l.a fitness and goodlife $60- plus tax a moth. Honestly is not bad. The staff are nice . Melissa and other girl and girls that were there before are all pretty easy going. They are not pushy. That is the good thing. The price is already sufficeintly high that you do not have this pushy sales environment. Anyways. I give it a decent recommend. A solid 75% to 80% in terms of location, cleanliness, easy going staff and enough equipment to work out to.

Expérience fantastique: I love this gym! It's just perfect. From the moment you enter, you can see the cleanliness and the impeccable order that is maintained in every corner. Everything is organized efficiently, which makes it very easy to find and use the training equipment. In addition to its impeccable appearance, this gym is incredibly accessible. It has a convenient location, which facilitates access no matter where you are. In addition, its extensive opening hours allow you to adapt to any type of agenda. However, what really makes me fall in love with this place is its training environment. The staff is friendly, attentive and always willing to help. The coaches are highly qualified and offer a personalized guide that motivates you to overcome your limits and reach your goals. The atmosphere among the members is welcoming and motivating, which creates a supportive community where we all encourage each other. In short, I would recommend this gym to anyone who is looking for an excellent place to get in shape and enjoy the process!

It’s sad to see because we did not turn a blind eye to an error in the system not created by us, that people would stoop as low to discredit a young woman and a small local business with fake accounts and people who have never been to our facility. Very sad
Expérience négative: Terrible. There really should be an option for 0 stars. Words can’t even describe how bad my experience with this gym was the first time I went there. I visited this gym for the first time with a friend and prior to this experience never had any issues with the key fob. Upon entry, my friend was unable to access the gym because of an error in the system. We spoke to Melissa to get some help with this matter however she responded to us with a lot of negativity and rude attitude. We even went to the extent of contacting our home gym in Bolton to help us out and they assured us that even though the key fob isn’t working, there is no reason that they can’t be allowed in manually since there is a registered profile. However, Melissa refused to help us out in anyway and told us it is not her problem and we should take it to our home gym. We asked her if there is anything else we can do, she told us that she has to leave and pick up her kids and that her shift is over and she has to go. Mind you, it had only turned 9 as we were trying to sort out the situation. She mentioned that she does not like the Bolton location which made us think that is why she did not want to help us out as well. Due to time and lack of help we decided to go to another gym which worked out just fine. The Vaughan, Bolton, and another Toronto location have never had such issues. Very unfortunate that we came to have a good gym session but we were met with a rude employee with no effort to help. Her snarky remarks and unnecessary questions and comments made us feel like we were also being racially profiled.

We treat all members / people equally and fairly and with respect. Your accusation of being "racially profiled" is extremely offensive & could not be further from the truth and we are sadden you would even say such a thing especially when you do not know Melissa or her background. Key Fob access is put in place to ensure the safety of all AF members and to ensure that all accounts with Anytime Fitness are in good standings. When a key fob is denied access clearly there is an issue & your "home gym" needs to look into the matter & rectify the issue. Only a "home gym" will have access to members full profile where they can make any changes or investigate issues further. Melissa was doing her best with offering a resolution of a day pass that your friend was not happy with. We wish you well on your fitness journey.
Expérience négative: I wish I could put zero stars. Went to this location and the lady there (Melissa) denied me access stating that my member was inactive. Mind you I had been to the Vaughan, Bolton, and islington location the same month with no problem. I called my home gym to get to the bottom of my “inactive” account and was told there is no issues with my account. She was extremely rude about that matter and stated she could not help me because she has to leave and pick up her kids. To worsen this experience I came with a friend whose fob had no problem scanning at their gym. A month later we returned to Stockyard location and both of our fobs don’t work. Reason to do believe they blocked me and my friend from attending their gym because Melissa was proven wrong and didn’t like it. Stockyard… please explain why my anytime fob works at every location but yours. Worst customer service from a gym I have ever encountered.

Key Fob access is put in place to ensure the safety of all AF members and to ensure that all accounts with Anytime Fitness are in good standings. When a key fob is denied access clearly there is an issue & your "home gym" needs to look into the matter. Melissa was following Anytime Fitness protocols and did not deserve the rude remarks and pushback. We do not tolerate any kind of verbal abuse at this location.
Expérience fantastique: Impressive Fitness Experience at Toronto Stockyard Anytime Fitness! Toronto Stockyard Anytime Fitness exceeded my expectations. The staff was welcoming, the facilities well-maintained, and the 24/7 access was convenient. Diverse fitness classes added to the overall appeal. Highly recommended!

Expérience négative: Beware of the contract. I can’t cancel for another 5 months, 60$ a month is 720$ for 1 year. Better to build a home gym then pay 60$ a month for the small space they have with limited machines. I need to cancel as I’m moving.

Expérience fantastique: This gym is what I think about when I think of the perfect gym. Awsome energy and well equipped location. I highly recommend this gym to anyone shopping around in this area.
Expérience négative: I had a really poor experience cancelling my membership. I was moving away and they charged me 150$+tax to get out of the agreement. My initial agreement had a clause allowing me to leave free of charge but this location is different. I also think for the cost of the membership, the facilities aren’t worth it. There are cheaper options that offer more services in the nearby area as well.
Expérience positive: Just small and doesn't have a lot of capacity or some variation on machines but it has all the staples.
Expérience fantastique: Clean, small gym but with a large enough diversity of equipment to meet all exercise needs. Mature membership, have never had problems with overcrowding or loud behaviour. Weights are always back in place. As far as no-frills locations go, it's really decent.
Expérience négative: Not my home gym although in the area quite a bit so I tried to come to this location today. I can see why they have not so great reviews. They claim to be open 24/7 even on holidays- yet I go and they're closed. What a joke. Glad this is not my home gym. I am updating my review cause it gets worse So they replied that they are open 24/7 365 days a year and we're telling that they were not staffed yesterday. I explained I know what the difference is between staffed hours and not staffed hours but they would keep telling me it's my fob broken. Although when I went to my home club that same night- it worked. I also asked a few times then why they had special holiday page taped to the door that was different than staff hours they then proceeded to keep telling me it's my fob or I don't have access to the club. When you sign up after the first week you have access to all clubs across the world. I told them they had bad customer service and the bad reviews made sense and they hung up. I'll come try my key fob tomorrow during staffed hours and see if it works then we can chat since I was hung up on

Expérience négative: Denied entry because I forgot my key fob. Then was told manual entry isn’t a thing, don’t appreciate being lied to. Other gyms have done manual entry without any issues. I’ve been a member of anytime for over 5 years. Terrible customer service. This gym owner is clearly being greedy and doesn’t care about Anytime fitness all access policy. This gym should be stripped of their franchise title. Update - went to the anytime in Orangeville and they did a manual entry without any issues. This proves what was stated above
Expérience fantastique: Clean small gym in a ideal location old western road and st. Claire. Friendly staff. About $60 a month and you are lock in into contract. Which should be changed because ppl hate contract especially when in small gyms like these.

Expérience négative: This gym is illegally auto renewing membership without following the Ontario Consumer protection act which specifically states that a gym needs to send notices for renewal. We were members for 4 years and were never sent renewal notices but were told that we were on month to month membership. During covid credit card on file expired, they did not send us a single notification and only time we heard was from the collection agency claiming that we had a contract in place to pay these months of dues. When we pointed out that these contracts were invalid because anytime fitness deosnnot follow ontario consumer laws, they went quiet. They have never broken down the charges and they are ok to deactivate your fob key as soon as your payment declines but is ok to keep charging you for months even though it not legally binding. From yelp reviews there are others who has had similar experiences to ours. This gym needs a class action lawsuit for not following ontario consumer protection act. Read all the poor reviews, and they all sing the same tune - gym skimming membership on unsuspecting members. Don't trust this gym with your personal financial information period. my family has joined many gyms in this area, Snap fitness (doesn't exist anymore, it used be on Quebec and Dundas west), joined LA fitness on monthly membership and ANYTIME fitness is by far the worst and most sketchy when it comes to billing and charges. Furthermore it seems like this practice is common in the Anytime fitness brand, Googling anytime fitness in other locations and same complaints - overcharging, charging even though request to cancel sent, charges even after cancelation, yearly fees even after contract is cancelled, contract mismanagement etc. same complaints all locations so this toxic business practice is connected to the brand itself. As for the reponse from the gym : this is UNTRUE, THERE IS AN AUTO RENEWAL IN THEIR CONTRACT, THEY WILL ASK U to INITIALIZE IT AND USE THAT TO RENEW CONTRACT WITHOUT FOLLOWING ONTARIO CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT (if u didnt know better u'll get scammed). So 'we explain that' reponse from the gym is not valid because contract is invalid, again they are legally required to send u notices for contract renewal or any changes to it, which they don't do as this gym has poor communication to members.
Hello Alexandra, Thank you for expressing how you feel, it saddens us that after being a member for 4 yrs you now claim we are scamming. Rest assured that we are in the business to offer people a facility \ club that they can come to for health and mental stability. When members join we go over the contract agreement & we specifically explain the autorenewal program & get members initials. We inform members that after their term expires their membership will automatically renew BUT they are no longer in a contract they are now in an open term agreement that they can cancel anytime with a 30 day notice, this is not something we hide. We follow all policies & procedures as per contract agreement to ensure every member is equal.

Hello Mayra, You may have us mistaken for another gym. ANYTIME FITNESS is fully equipped & open 24/7 365 days a year that's including alllll Holidays.
Expérience négative: If I could give 0 stars I would. Avoid this gym if you want to avoid the stress of being lied to by the staff then getting ghosted when you contact corporate. I put my membership on hold 3 months ago and was told I would not be charged for the month I’m gone by the associate Melissa . I thought it was all an easy process but was then charged a day later regardless . I was not in the country so I could do nothing. When I arrived back I was told I was supposed to put in notice 5 days before billing. I told the manager there that I was not told that and that I even came 2 weeks prior before leaving to freeze but Melissa advised me not to because then I would not be able to come to the gym as soon as I froze it. At no point did Melissa say 5 days prior to billing . She litterally said I still Made it and there should be no issues. The manager refuses to refund me and states “she does not handle billing” I called the billing department and they said legally it is up to the franchise owner to decide the refund. I told that to the manager and she just insists that they can’t do anything on their side and it’s up to billing . I’ve called corporate multiple times and they have been trying to contact the franchise owner but she is either ignoring the emails or when she does reply she says something along the lines of “it’s resolved “ I don’t understand how she thinks it’s resolved when she hasn’t even contacted me. After all this I decided it’s best to just cancel my membership. This gym does not get new equipment other than 1 new bike in the last 3 years . Honestly the staff is nice other than the manager. Even Melissa who gave me the wrong information was really nice. I fully belive Melissa just made an error but how the manager comes off she just blames you and takes none. The manager is extremly unprofessional and immature. Just avoid this gym and go to la fitness down the street or iron alliance that’s also close by. I would also love to see the owner reply to this because then atleast I got a response from her somewhere.
Hello ClassicJoker, There is a process when a member freezes their membership, every member is on a different billing cycle depending when one joins. When a member comes in to freeze the billing department is unable to stop a payment that is about to get processed the next day. Your membership was placed on freeze for the duration as you requested so we are not understanding the miscommunication. Within the last 3 years...2 years the gym has been shutdown due to Covid & within 1 year there has been a few major pieces of equipment that have been added to Club. We apologize for any miscommunication you feel transpired & wish you all the best in your health journey.

Expérience fantastique: It’s been a month I have been visiting this gym. It’s very clean, friendly and great atmosphere to work out honestly. There’s not much of a wait and it’s never rush as you can always go at your own convenience and can enjoy your workout at your own comfort. Associate Jane is super cool with her Guest Service and has assisted me with everything from the time I joined.
Expérience positive: This gym is a great small gym with fitness driven members, a wide range of equipment and access to other clubs. The air conditioner can be a little colder and the fans on the ceiling are so high they don’t reach you. It gets packed these days now.

Expérience positive: Staff is friendly, and the selection of machines is OK however there is no lat pull down machine. There is though a hack squat which is pretty cool. Not enough basic attachments for the cables. They have one straight bar and the lat pull down bar selection kinda sucks. It’s unclear the weight on the cables in one area. Members are obnoxious with dropping weights and making strange noises. Some creepy staring too. Some of the things wrong with this place isn’t their fault but they could do better.

Expérience fantastique: I have been to other gyms in the Toronto/GTA but Anytime Fitness Stockyards is by far the cleanest gym I have been to. The washrooms are clean and private with their own showers. You always see staff cleaning and making sure the plates/weights are back to their proper place. I do like how they have signs every where to let people know what to do regarding gym etiquette because let’s face it some people don’t have simple common sense. Staff are professional and friendly, especially Jenn, she always greets you with a smile when you come in. Even though this gym is small, the culture and vibe is great. I do like how it is open 24/7 plus holidays and it’s not located in a basement. Members are usually respectful and keep to themselves. It would be really nice if they would have just a little bit more space with more equipments then this gym would be perfect, other than that I think this gym is wonderful.

Expérience fantastique: This location has really worked hard throughout the pandemic to maintain their doors open to their members. In doing so they have really created a great sense of community amongst it’s members. Their cleanliness and organization is unmatched and the standard they set has created a culture of respect and mindfulness. The staff are friendly and attentive.

Expérience fantastique: Small gym, but I usually just went during off peak hours when there were few people so never had to wait. This is the cleanest gym I've ever been to. Always saw staff cleaning every day. Bathrooms and gym always smelled like cleaning products (in a good way). Other members are respectful of the space and clean after use, moreso than I've ever seen at any other gym. I think they can go without the passive aggressive signs everywhere telling people to clean up after themselves or they'll be fined. I think with how well maintained the gym is and culture of cleanliness, they can do without it but never bothered me much.
Expérience négative: Terrible customer service! They are charging people despite it being government mandated that gym should be closed due to C19. Their scam is that if you do not respond to an email with your name then your account will not be paused. When I reached out through email they were very rude and insulting. Definitely will be cancelling my membership if this is not resolved. I will also be posting an update about this depending on how it unfolds.

Very friendly environment.. the staffs are wonderful and very welcoming .. this place has all the equipment needed to keep in shape .. this place is very tidy all the time .. Expérience négative: Currently at the gym right now doing pushups in the dusty corner because anything related to Chest has been in use for half an hour. Post lockdown this is one of the most overbooked gyms in Toronto and remains overpriced at the same time.

The gym works on keyfob access and while under Government regulation of capacity fobs will not work when that capacity is reached to ensure the safety of all our members.
Expérience fantastique: I was passing though the area and needed to train. The staff was extremely nice even though I’m not from this area. The facilityFacility is extremely clean and equipment all appeared to be new. The woman with red hair, I thing her name was Maria was so polite and helpful. As I’m from the states the wearing of mask is odd to me but I guess it’s a Canadian thing. Thank you Anytime Fitness for a great training session.
Expérience négative: Avoid this place! It is a clean and well maintained place - that's it. Now that the Positive is said, let's jump to the Negative. I have never experienced such a lack of professionalism as well as such poor customer service anywhere. Apparently they have a very hard time replying to customer emails and just straight up ignore your questions. My membership term of 12 months started on date x, my payment plan (12 months as well) started a month later. It was all under that 'Summer free' promotion. Let me tell you: NOTHING is free! I ended up with a month to pay when my membership had ended already. The 'new' representative (who wasn't aware of the promotion mentioned) tried making up excuses but also wasn't able to explain to me, how this all adds up. Also be aware of 'the system'. The employees are completely dumbed down by a computer. Another money grubbing company with miserable staff that does not know how to deal with customers. Canceling my membership was a real pain. Be smart and don't put yourself through this! There are tons of gyms in Toronto, stay away from this one!!

Well, if your employee sold me something that was never available, maybe she's the one responsible for that charge. Or maybe you could be PROFESSIONAL and honour what your company offered/sold/agreed at the moment I started my membership. Let me know when you want to collect the payment for what I should pay, not for what you decide now that you want receive.

Expérience fantastique: Really nice club. Incredibly clean/sanitary, not incredibly busy, really friendly staff. Nicest Anytime club you’ll find! Maria was also very helpful with getting me all set up.
Expérience fantastique: great gym! the gym is very clean, I notice that when I have come in here there is always someone cleaning the gym and making sure that everything is sanitized. Customer service is great, Vanessa is always super helpful when I come in here. When I have a question or call the gym with inquiries she takes the time to answer my question in a friendly manner!
Expérience positive: A decent gym. I would like to see a few more weights so that I can use the weight that I want when the gym gets a little busy and I would really appreciate more urgency when it comes to repairing broken equipment. The gym is a decent size, but not huge so when equipment is unavailable it makes for an inefficient workout.
