Expérience négative: These people sent my husband and I to collections AFTER cancelling our membership for an “overdue” amount left on our account. My debit card on the account had expired and therefore this “overdue amount” didn’t process. They didn’t contact us to let us know, and lied and said they sent an email to follow up. What kind of business sends their clients to collections without trying to contact them first?? Absolutely insane. The ironic part is that the only reason we cancelled is because I’m 8 months pregnant and was having complications that didn’t allow me to lift weights! Dear owner: Karma will come back to you, I promise you that.

Expérience positive: I've been here for a bit now, and I like the gym. They have good equipment, they have a clean facility. The change rooms are spotless, and so is the gym area. The problems with the gym are really not with the facility but more with members, Personal hygiene seems to take a back seat with a disproportionate number of members. Also to many members with gym bags on the gym floor, or leaving them on equipment not to mention personal belonging on equipment instead of the floor. I mean it is equipment for a reason and not a storage place or table. (oh and don't try to tell anyone to move it if you're going to want to use it - cause they won't) I would give this place 5 stars - the members make it a 3.

Expérience fantastique: Awesome facility with ALL the equipment you could ever want. Clean and very friendly. The owner is an amazing trainer and really cares about his business clients and staff. Really enjoying my Resistance Fitness experience overall!! Well done Michael and Angela !!

Expérience fantastique: I’ve been a member of resistance fitness for 2 years now, I moved out to a different area and I still go there because this one is simply the best. The owner cares a lot about the gym and there is rules to follow which they make the gym a better place. The gym is always clean and organized. The equipment is well maintained. The members are so nice, is really a safe space. We all should support local businesses like this one!

Expérience fantastique: I am so happy that this gym exists in the neighbourhood. I’ve been a member at several gyms over the years but this one has to be the best hands down. The owner cares about his gym and has some rules set in place. Respect the rules and you won’t have any issues. It’s not an unreasonable request. The equipment is on par. The gym is well maintained and the locker rooms are impeccably clean. For an independent gym that has to compete with big box gyms, I think it’s done quite well for itself. There is no doubt that the owner (Michael) cares about his gym and it shows as he frequents the gym floor every so often to make sure all is well. I really like this gem of a gym. I’m glad to support a local business while supporting my health at the same time.

Expérience positive: Gym has a lot of well divided space for gym and other activities. There are yoga, dance and kick boxing activities as well Great location. There are 2reason behind 3 stars:- 1. Owner’s attitude sometimes gets really rude and thus annoying. 2. Machines are little bit outdated and yoga and other activities gets paused for longer times than they should be. I hope you take it in a positive way.

Expérience fantastique: I regrettably cancelled my membership because we moved was but RF has truly been my BEST gym experience ever. The cleanliness of this place cannot be overstated. Staff are great and Mike and Angela always approachable. Patrons follow the rules , a “jerk free” environment. Love it and will miss it !

Expérience fantastique: Needed a gym to workout in for the day and I was blessed to come across this one. The gym was immaculately clean and ORGANIZED. I didn’t have to waste my time looking for plates, handles for the cable machine, or walking over barbells to get to my next station. The washrooms were of hotel spa quality. You can tell the owner really cares about his gym. Much respect to him. I will be making this my go to when I’m in town!

Expérience négative: Owner, Michael Arabia, tries to justify his disgusting behaviour by blaming the customer. He throws fits like an 8 yr old and calls people all sorts of names. He will try to bully and harrass you to remove a negative review. Read the other reviews and stay as far away from this place as you can.

Expérience négative: Pay attention to the reviews regarding the owners behaviour. He canceled our membership after one visit. The reason he gave is he hates us for some unknown reason. When telling us, he became unhinged and started yelling and hurling personal insults at us in front of the young staff member at the front desk. He then challenged me to a fight, but I was not going to get into it with a 60 yr old psycho. He definaltey has anger issues and no self-control. There are not 2 sides to this story. The guy totally lost it...and if you read the other reviews, you will see its not the first time and will surely not be the last. Stay away from him and this place, especially if you are female.

The equipment is really good and can’t find equipment like this anywhere else, it’s well-maintained and perfect for anyone. The staff and owner are friendly, and are always willing to offer advice.

Expérience négative: Terrible for a serious gym goer. The owner is rude and the receptionists are clueless of what’s going on. No good equipments and no space either with all the unwanted equipments. I would not step in ever again.

You are always greeted with a warm welcoming smile each time you walk through the doors. The gym is spectacularly clean, and well maintained. They have a variety of cardio equipment and weights for all fitness levels. I enjoy belonging to a locally owned gym, as apposed to a large franchise. The memberships at Resistance are priced accordingly and easy to manage.

You’ve been warned. ! **Edit after owner response** Apparently this owner doesn't know how to use the internet as a simple search would reveal I am not this so called 'Melat' and I have several registered reviews over many years. This owner is exactly what's wrong with fitness business & why they are all going bankrupt. Look at his behavior wow.

Expérience fantastique: Its environment is quiet and pleasant, rivaling any branded gyms. It is well-maintained by its owners. You can find all kinds of training equipment here, along with complementary yoga and Zumba classes on weekends. I highly recommend this gym for achieving your fitness goals.

Expérience négative: The owner is a fraud and the place is very unsafe. He knows very well that the membership was cancelled but still money was being deducted from my account. When i went to resolve the issue, he refused that I ever cancelled the membership or even came. When asked to recheck him record or check the camera for record he started pushing me and friends. He just didnt understand that I had a active memebership with this gym for almost last 2 years but went to the gym hardly 10 times. So I won’t come to lie about $40. He will do anything to steal money. He is a thief and a psycho. Please don’t go to this gym it is not safe.

Expérience fantastique: Amazingly clean and well-maintained gym. You get attached personally here as the management know pretty much all members. There are some rules that you need to STRICTLY FOLLOW, if you do that you NEVER get into trouble. I was able to achieve a personal best pull up session because of the instruments provided by the owner. I'll never forget this place.

Expérience négative: Went in to sign up for a membership, and the owner didn’t like the fact I had a toothpick in my mouth. I was caught off guard at first and realized he wasn’t joking. He’s very condescending and a psycho. He told me to then leave his gym. Lol he doesn’t want business with anybody that he’s intimidated by. Hes a very weird, he speaks to ppl like your a dog. He’s need a nice ….

Expérience négative: Today I eavesdrop on a very disturbing story about an employee dropping some serious accusations without a single shred of evidence on a customer (drugs). When the situation was resolved, no apologies were offered to the customer. It made me feel that such a business strategy should be rated appropriately. So unprofessional.

You'll often see the owner Michael cleaning to make sure the space stays spotless. Much better environment than the other gyms just due to the cleanliness, wide array of machines and weights and the people that go here.

Love the atmosphere, and the people and management are A1! Highly recommended if you live in the south east end of Scarborough You will not be disappointed for the price of the monthly membership.

The equipment is all Hammer Strength, and is kept in immaculate condition. Thank you Mike and staff for accommodating my training needs!

The fact is that he ia aggressive unstable and the most anti client focused owner ever. People may get reminded of gym rules or whatever he says, but abused for not putting a weight away or bringing resistance band?? The behavior and reaction displayed by little man Mike is excessive and abusive as well as his pit bull receptionist which is why its concerning. The generic reply is the same to all the bad reviews and somehow he is always justified in his abusive behaviour. Check the better business bureau as well Does minus 1,000,000 + stars exist? Have 911 on speed dial! Unpredictable and abusive owner Mike. Front desk staff following his lead and abusing members and assaulting them. People go to the gym to get in shape. I've witnessed the owner swearing, threatening and calling female members fat as they work out. Unbelievable I know, but absolutely true. I was scared as a woman, but incredibly dissappoint was that the male gym patrons present who did absolutely nothing! Do protective real men exist? Not at this gym Literally the owner is a jekyll and hyde and if you look at the reviews on Google and filter through the inflated ones you can see it's a pattern of abuse, irate and unpredictable person who I am in disbelief is still in business. The same story of abuse goes years back. And just a matter of time when he will explode again. Mental health check needed for this owner with little man syndrome. How he has stayed in business I have no idea. Stay away and take precautions!

Expérience négative: The receptionist Jessica had misinformed us about rules and regulations related to minors joining the gym and other activities, she basically had no idea of them regulations and despite of asking upfront over n over she let us sign all the consent forms and accepted the payments too. On the contrary the owner being aware of all the rules and regulations was insincere and rude instead of accommodating and sorting the issue further he just made personal comments which were rather racist in front of my minor daughter. Then I read some previous reviews and some do mention that owner' s name is Mike and quoting a random review from two weeks back " he can be exceedingly unpleasant, if not irrational, behaviour. Be warned." Now it all makes sense to me ! I understand that errors happen in the service industry , anything can be sorted with a smile and politeness and we here in this country to promote equity and diversity and not to exploite people in the names of rules and regulations henceforth I never would keep any business with a racist person combined with some dumb ladies in the staff. Obviously took my refund ,wouldn't reckon to none! Reply to the owners comment : She is 10 please check your records and this was informed to me by your receptionist Jessica also how come an ALLEGED 7 year old got inside the gym ?? It was for your group classes haha You charged at us aggressively forgetting that obviously your staff had accepted the payment and then let us in or are you just may be intoxicated cuz you surely looked not okay (sober) to me yelling in your own facility making racist remarks Train yourself and your employees, better or LEARN to be polite if you have made a mistake and received payments Clearly you have no staff coordination still. Expérience fantastique: I have been going to Resistance Fitness since December 2019. Mike and all the staff are always respectable and welcoming. The members all understand the rules the gym lays out, and equipment and change rooms are always clean and tidy.

This begs the question as to why Resistance Fitness has received a two star review. Sadly, I have witnessed the owner, Mike, display exceedingly unpleasant, if not irrational, behaviour. Be warned.

Parking is quite ample, staff are friendly, equipment is quite sufficient for me. I really like this gym and the value it offers for the price. Highly recommend it.

The proprietor, Michael, is a pleasant and approachable man as well. Where it all fits together well is in the privately owned environment. Expérience fantastique: Great facility with friendly staff and a variety of quality equipment. Multiple racks with plenty of plates, and a wide range of dumbbells for those focused on free weight strength training. It can get crowded at the usual peak times for most gyms, but never had an issue getting my planned work out done.

Expérience fantastique: Very good experience with customer service, you get a nice tour when you visit for the first time, Mike there is very friendly. It’s a clean and tidy workout place with regular maintenance and a descent crowd.

Expérience négative: Recently we moved our office to Kingston area so I wanted to get an additional gym membership here and have the option to workout while at work. During lunch I decided to come here to try out the space and let my coworkers know how it was, but it turned sour real quick. When I told Mike* I wanted him to delete my ID since I decided NOT to work out anymore because of the way he spoke to me, he then refused to delete my ID and told me to leave. Do NOT give this gym your ID if you aren’t sure of joining. This guy will keep it hostage and call you crazy for simply remaining in the premises until he deletes it. I ended up leaving within the 15 mins that I was there since he would not budge but this was by far the most escalated situation for no good reason.

Expérience fantastique: Unbelievably clean, plenty of equipment. Plenty of benches. The change rooms have full length lockers which is a bonus and the showers are clean and bright as well. Michael, the owner, is a friendly and approachable guy too. The individually owned atmosphere is where it all comes together nicely. Best of all, the membership is an exceptionally decent price. Only good things to say.

Expérience fantastique: I always leave my sessions with Mike feeling like I got my money's worth. In addition to giving me a good workout and motivating me to work harder, Mike takes the time to explain each exercise and ensures I know how to use the equipment independently. He has really helped boost my confidence in the gym. I've done personal training on and off for several years, but this is the first time I've felt empowered to identify and use gym equipment (other than free weights) on my own. The facility is always clean and the staff at the front are lovely and helpful!

I never feel special in my life, but everytime i go to the gym for workout i feel so special.Mr Micheal makes sure his every customer are go home with happiness.I noticed him everytime he warmly greets who comes to the gym. This kind of personality and business are rare these days. We should support his dream gym and help the gym to grow step by step.

There is so many different types of equipment here, wether your into weight training or cardio they have it all. I 100% recommend this gym to anyone who’s looking to join a gym.

After 2 years of not working out and feeling insecure about getting back into the gym my boyfriend and I went together (a little gym date) the owner Michael decided without even speaking to us (likely because I'm not in the best shape at the moment) that my boyfriend was personal training me and decided to approach my boyfriend (not both of us) mid workout and tell him that he is cancelling our memberships. I went over to see what they were talking about and got upset because that was clearly not what was happening. He proceeded to gaslight me by repeatedly thanking my boyfriend for being so calm and understanding. He refused to refund our credit cards and would only give us a cheque for the money. He also refused to shred our personal information or contract in front of us. This is the worst experience I have ever had at a gym. I was so excited going in to spend some much needed time with my significant other and get back into shape. Despite having experience working out with free weights (I'm also a physiotherapist by the way) the owner took one look at me and decided that I was being personal trained instead of just a girlfriend working out with her boyfriend. There are people who this kind of experience would keep them from ever going back to a gym. I would never recommend this place to ANYONE.

Expérience fantastique: If you live nearby, this gym is the best option. Has all the amenities a gym should have, all the equipment are excellent quality (upstairs), has yoga classes (downstairs), punching bags, shower/changing rooms etc. The best part is the owner/manager of the gym. For any business to sustain and grow what matters is the relationships you develop and maintain with your customers and Michael (owner) does exactly that. I would definitely recommend this gym.

Expérience fantastique: Wonderful boutique family and neighbourhood gym that appeals to all, Medium size gym with lots of space for for modern well maintained weights and strengthening equipment, cardio equipment, yoga room, punching bag/ stregthening room etc. No line ups, no pressure and not crowded. I enjoy seeing families, couples and neighbours here. Watching the teens enjoying healthy activities is wonderful. Well maintained modern new equipment. Scrupulously clean and uncrowded - as a woman, I adore the clean and well maintained change rooms. Good quality control - well mannered members. Owner, Mike Arabia’s personal training is a game changer - my chiropracter and physio couldn't get me to do what I needed to fix my knees. Mike got me to do exercises that fixed the knee problems I have had for the last 35 years. He will make you work but you will love it!

Expérience négative: Unprofessional staff. They don't know how to talk to people. RUDE! I would say. Initial Mike will talk nice but after some days you will get to know his true colors. I am recovering from my ACL injury, when Mike (the receptionist) in gym found out that I am using resistance band, he got furious and started using abusive language. Then he cancelled my membership. I don't know what is wrong with the resistance band which I own. . I don't recommend the gym due to the rude staff.

Expérience fantastique: I can't say enough about how great this gym is. Resistance is full of quality equipment and is always sparkling clean. This is a gym with old school values and an updated attitude. Management are extremely friendly and welcoming, taking you in with a feeling more of friendship than patronage. If you are looking for a new gym, Resistance is should be at the top of that list.

Expérience fantastique: Decided to go to this gym as it was close to my house. I really enjoyed working out at the gym and the owner was really cool. The machines and all areas of the gym are clean and well maintained.

Expérience fantastique: Joined the gym this summer and I liked it a lot. The staff are very friendly and willing to help. I really enjoyed the kettle bell and hot yoga classes. I'm not the most fit person, but I didn't feel left behind, instead I was motivated at the classes. REALLY good instructors! Will definitely be going back next summer! Also facility was very clean all around (bathrooms, lockers, sauna etc).

Expérience fantastique: I've been coming here for a bit over a month now and always have a great experience, it's always clean and the owners are super friendly and always willing to go above and beyond for the guests, and it truly feels like a judgment free zone.

The equipment selection is fantastic and the entire facility is always super clean. I truly look forward to beginning my day at Resistance Fitness and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Expérience fantastique: In my 70's I took the leap and joined this gym. With only one trainer appointment, Michael guided me through the weight machines. I've now been there a month and already reap the benefits. No more do I wake up with aches and pains. I'm stronger and much more flexible. So affordable and worth every penny.

Anyway, super huge facility, great equipment, solid vibe (no creeps), lot's of tvs to watch while working-out. Locker rooms were top notch, and good classes. Family had to move, otherwise we'd be lifers! Thanks, Mike!.

Expérience fantastique: A lot of great things to say about this gym... first, the place is incredibly clean. I never see a spec of dust to begin with, but I still see staff cleaning it regularly. It's also very well ventilated, and even though it's not necessarily a big gym it still feels spacious and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and attentive; ready to help you immediately while remaining professional. I even went back after a while with an out of town family member, and the service we received was exceptional. All together, it's a very relaxed/calm atmosphere, great for doing your own thing without distraction. I recommend this place to everyone.

Expérience fantastique: Resistance Fitness provides the best variety of top-of-the-line equipment in Toronto; hands down. The floor and equipment are kept in pristine condition, spacing between machines is ideal, and there are enough mirrors that you won't have someone breathing down your neck to check themselves out. And I can personally say that after a few personal training sessions with Michael, you'll want to check yourself out too. The training itself is a challenge (brutal in a good way) but he tailors it specifically to your current limitations and offers a constant encouraging presence. I'm also going to give major bonus points for the dedication to your fitness, and the distraction-free focus during your hour with him. He's a busy man but always remembers where you last left off with him. I've done the Goodlife, Extreme Fitness, Vive Fitness, YMCA, and other independent gym routes before, and I can honestly say they don't compare. Membership is a steal, and staff are courteous, professional, and friendly. If you can follow two simple rules - wear your mask, and put away your weights - you won't find a better gym in Toronto. Bonus feature: Check out the plants! Hanging from the ceiling, coiling down the staircase, blooming in the corners, bonsai on the ledges, just absolutely awesome!! Bonus feature 2: Lots of parking (and worth every minute of the drive), or pretty accessible by TTC.

Expérience fantastique: This gym is first class!! There’s so much equipment you never have to wait and the gym is big enough that social distancing is not a problem. Mike and his staff are sincerely interested in their members’ health, their well being and their safety. I am a so glad they are part of my neighbourhood!

Expérience fantastique: This is an absolutely amazing gym and am so happy I was introduced to it from my brother. It is always so clean, such an amazing facility with very friendly and helpful staff. Michael has been phenomenal to train with. He has helped me achieve my goals and has been a great support to me on my journey. I highly recommend this gym and personal training sessions here you will not be disappointed. The level of attention to detail, maintenance and cleanliness management provides here you won’t find in any other gym. It also has very convenient parking and is affordable . 10/10

Expérience fantastique: This is a great facility with professional staff. The club is sparkling clean and I am confident going there amid this coronavirus. Masks are mandatory, and plenty of room for social distancing. Mike is a great manager and trainer. So glad they've managed to reopen amid these very trying times.

Expérience négative: Was at this gym for 2 years never had a problem with mike the owner. I wouldn’t say friends but we we’re definitely friendly strangers. Then randomly out of nowhere he spazzed on my for bringing in a resistance band to do stretching(Outside equipment isn’t allowed apparently). And kicked me out of the gym without warning. Little man has a temper and is uncontrollable. On my way out he wrote me a check for the last 3 months of my membership and said “I’m going to need it when I’m on welfare” unbelievable for someone I have Literally never had any problems with. Extremely advise against this gym if you want to be treated with respect.
