Expérience négative: The high incline treadmills barely work. Most of the equipment is old and used (needs to be replaced).
Expérience positive: Been at Movati Barrhaven for a month now, I like the facilities, I like the equipment, I however don’t like how members never put weights away. I’ve been going to gyms for 25years and it’s the worst I’ve ever seen. This is unfortunately a condemnation of the members more than the facility but it’s reflected in my experience.
Expérience négative: Somebody pooped in a urinal on the second floor. What kind of monsters are they letting join this gym?

Expérience positive: I’ve never been a big fan of cardio box classes, but Cindy completely changed that for me. She brings so much energy and enthusiasm to every session, making the class not only engaging but also genuinely fun. Her ability to motivate and keep everyone pumped up is unmatched. I can honestly say she’s the best instructor at Movati Nepean , and her classes are now something I look forward to every week. Thank you, Cindy, for making fitness so enjoyable!
Expérience négative: Movati is infested with fire ants. Mainly the sauna they bite & leave infections, I’m one of them. Several of us complained and nothing has been done now I’m posting here unfortunately
Expérience fantastique: Absolutely love it! Especially after they added more machines and equipment. The place is clean, which is very important to me. Iwish they open earlier on the weekend.
Expérience négative: Today, I want to share a troubling experience I had at Movati Gym that highlighted the realities of racism. While in the sauna, I was interrupted by a staff member, Loraine, who loudly confronted me about phone use, despite the fact that the posted policy only mentioned no photos or videos. When I resumed my text, Loraine returned, this time in a rage, threatening to call the manager to “drag me out.” It was shocking and humiliating, especially as others around me were also on their phones. Given her age, I chose not to react in anger but instead reported her behavior to management in official complaint format, only to find out that there was no such policy against texting. They assured me they would address the situation, but weeks later, I learned that no action was taken. It’s disheartening to see how some people can act without accountability, especially in a public space. I encourage anyone, especially those from marginalized communities, to be vigilant about these issues. After careful consideration, I decided to end my membership, as I refuse to support an environment where such behavior is tolerated. Let’s continue to speak out against racism and demand better treatment for everyone.

Expérience négative: The gym is ALWAYS full. Forget about going to gym after work like a normal human. They have sold so many memberships. Management doesn’t even care about the members. Never respond to emails or concerns. To find a PARKING SPOT you have to circle around the tight parking 4-5 times just to find a single spot. They tell you to park in the OC transpo spots a good walk away. Sure bud, I’ll pay $100 a month to walk all the way there in -20 after a workout.
Expérience négative: This location is NOT run well at all. It is extremely crowded even at 9 PM. Patrons leave many 45 lb plates loaded onto machines and do NOT remove them, and when you complain to the staff they do absolutely nothing to help you - they are more concerned with socializing with each other than actually doing their jobs and enforcing the club rules. Big bags are out of control on the weight room again too!!!
Expérience négative: Quite possibly the worst gym in the entire city. Don’t go to this location. The patrons are brutal, staff are even worse. I’ve never felt less welcome at a place that supposedly promoted it.

Expérience négative: I wish you would be more careful about replacing equipment and accessories. In the women's area, some essential things are missing: Fixed Barbells are incomplete (25lbs gone), fixed bar for back exercises (gone). In the upper area, the Barbell spring collar is missing. Another thing I noticed is that in Nepean, there is a LOT of new and wonderful equipment (see pictures), why isn't there any in Barrhaven? It's always crowded, so I believe money is not the problem! Please pay more attention to this unit, it is way behind the others.

Expérience fantastique: I am a former member at this club. This is a fantastic business that provides a great service to Barrhaven and surrounding residents. The club is clean, well maintained and highly professional. The staff take pride in the work that they do from the front desk to the custodial staff. I have been a member for years, I hope prospective members consider the Movati experience to attain their fitness or wellbeing goals.

The staff, from the front desk receptionists to the cleaning personnel, all contribute to creating a clean and welcoming environment. Their helpfulness and professionalism truly stand out and make each visit enjoyable. Expérience positive: I only go at opening to avoid the crowds and the impossibility of finding parking. The parking spaces need to increase, and the entrance/exit has to be re-done. For such a busy place, having only one entrance/exit is ridiculous and dangerous. Emergency vehicles were called there on Sept 2, 2024 at around 10 a.m., and the nightmare of vehicles trying to get out, those entering, and not to mention, the emergency vehicles trying to gain access, was the absolute result of a poor design and no foresight. Barrhaven Movati desperately needs another entrance/exit, even if for only emergency vehicles.

Expérience négative: Unsafe environment after 9PM in the pool area. No security, and lots of aggressive antisocial behaviour. Management does not take complaints seriously.
Expérience négative: While the gym and changerooms are in fantastic condition, this gym is ridiculously over sold. Unless you come in before your work day, there is no "off peak" time. Even at 9 or 10pm the parking lot is at capacity and the gym is packed. It's crazy that you have to wait to use common machines like the bench, power rack, or weighted row. This would be a 5/5 (minus some black mold in the showers and turning off the steam sauna an hour before closing almost daily) but the membership numbers makes it horrible to work out at...which you can't do, due to the patron numbers. Additional space and machines are a must or pausing membership because this is crazy.

I had a bad experience with some staff who were rude, condescending. This gym only cares about making money, and zero effort to give you value, and customer service.
Expérience fantastique: Called this evening and Dylan picked up the phone. He was fast and efficient with a good knowledge about what he does. Great customer service. Highly recommended work with him if you need anything done properly. Keep it up Dylan.

Very clean facilities, tons of choices of classes, and I love the option of the women's only area!! Special shout-out to Bonny (Aqua classes), Emilie (Drum fit) and Sasy (yoga) - fav instructors!
Expérience positive: Well unfortunately Movati at Strandherd has the same problem as at Movati at Meadowlands that is a lack of following the showering and dress rules related to the pool and hot tub. Why the rules are Not enforced is just poor management
Expérience négative: DO NOT GO HERE. THEY WILL LIE TO YOU ABOUT MEMBERSHIP PRICING TO GET YOU TO SIGN UP. I was misled about the pricing of my student membership, which was supposed to remain at a certain rate as promised when I first signed up. Instead, they increased the rate, directly contradicting the original terms I was assured of. They also ignored my email about the issue despite claiming that they respond to emails.

Some of the staff behaved like someone nobody who suddenly acquires a trivial amount of power and wields it arbitrarily against anyone within reach. I quit my membership right after the staff asked me to leave.
Expérience négative: I made an appointment and got the confirmation email and went to the center to register, but the lady with the movati uniform was so rude and unhelpful and said that there was no one to help me. Is it normal for a place to tell a person who went to register that there is no one to help them register with an unwelcoming attitude!!! Of course she can't help me because she doesn't know how but she didn't need to help me to make mind that I should never go back to the rude place! Thank you for saving my money!
Expérience négative: Ever since I joined as a student 4 years ago they promised to never raise the price as long as I kept my membership. Well today they raised my membership fee substantially making it not whort it for the price. They broke their promise which is not cool.
Expérience fantastique: I mainly go for classes. They have a wide variety of classes available at all different times, so no matter your schedule, you can fit some in each week. My favorites are ROM and Hot Yin, but all of the classes have been great. This is probably the busiest location in Ottawa, so if you go at peak times, you might struggle to find parking. The booking system is very convenient, but it's hard sometimes to book into the most popular classes. You can book classes three days out, but sometimes if something is booked up, if you check back the night before or the day of a class that was full, a spot will have opened up. Areas I've used have been clean and staff has been friendly and helpful.

Expérience négative: I know a few people that go here and they've all said the same thing. They're afraid to leave a review but I will because I think someone should seriously do something about it. The staff that works there are rude and misleading. The staff is sales focused, don't trust any of them. The trainers will try to trick you into paying extra hundreds of $$. Also, most of the staff are rude towards you. They will gossip with each other at the front all day long and laugh in your face. They've spoken about my friend's body in horrible ways. You work at a gym! These people are trying to better themselves. If they treat you well, you're lucky.

I've also seen movati staff members leave 5 start reviews on here while currently being an employee at movati. Men's sauna and steam room and always gross and poorly cleaned. Expérience négative: This place is crazy busy after 5pm, never any machines available. The parking is jam packed every single time and it is impossible to find a spot. A 30min work out will take you 2 hours. It’s horrible. Do not get a membership here.
Expérience négative: I can't for the life of me figure out how a gym that charges so much and is supposedly the most busy gym in North America, so it must be making a lot of money, can't afford to buy some stand up fans for the exercise class room. It's so hot in there. The instructor almost fainted today. I am seriously thinking of going and buying a fan myself. They had two in there before but one of them walked off and I guess nobody can be bothered to replace it. I find some of the staff at the front desk to be pleasant and some of them look at like you like, how dare you speak to them? They're too busy having social time. As other posts indicate, no matter how often you raise a concern it doesn't get addressed. If another gym with a pool opened in Barrhaven I would be out of there in a flash!
Expérience positive: I am really fond of the classes here however the management and front desk staff are really rude, they don’t want to help you. Even when the front desk isn’t crowded and you go to them for any request or query, they are just rude and unhelpful.
Expérience négative: Coaches are nice and really hard working. But management is pitiful. Good luck if you have a problem because they will ignore your calls and emails. They shut down the children playroom which made things even more challenging for busy parents. And finally, be prepared to spend 20 min trying to find parking. It's a nightmare.
Expérience positive: The reviews about it being busy…welcome to every major gym. But there is tons of classes if that’s your thing, and it’s kept pretty clean. Wish it was 24hrs or at least midnight on weekends
Expérience positive: Good fitness place. Considerably new. Has all the fitness equipment you probably dream of. One area to improve: the median age during workdays is probably around 35-40 years old with MANY retired folks. Can you please stop playing teeny bop music? The music you play fits the age group of young teenage girls (14-20) There is plenty of more “mature” fitness music out there.
Expérience fantastique: I love the gym, staff is super nice and have been super helpful. Yumna and Beau were a pleasure to talk to. Equipment feels good, gets busy but it is one of the better movatis in Nepean so its to be expected. wish they had stretching bands however.
Expérience fantastique: I only go to this gym for the level 2 hoop classes, I live across town and usually go to closer ones. Tried Alison’s class when I had a day off and was hooked! Super fun, challenging and encouraging. I was actively trying ~not~ to like it because it is far but honestly it has become one of the highlights of my week! I love that she showcases other skills like spinning that you don’t always see in other hoop classes. By far one of my favourite instructors!
Expérience négative: I had a really surreal experience with the hoop instructor tonight... I've been in level 2 for about 3 months at another location (Nepean) and wanted to get extra practice at this location. I kindly took time off work to come to a level 1 class and be able to show the instructor that I can pass the prerequisite move, only to be told that I also needed to pass a progression of it requiring a pull up, because 'I care about my student's safety '. Does that mean that other instructors don't!? Instructors should understand that not all people come in with the same level of ability than them, that's why progressions/regressions exist and make the practice safe and enjoyable for all. I haven't felt this bad after exercising since back when I was in High School. - Maeva
Expérience négative: I have been member of Movati Club for almost three years. My membership started at Burlington Movati and we had a good experience there. When I moved to Ottawa/Barrhaven I transferred my membership Movati/Barrhaven. Barrhaven complex is probably one of the worst experience I had in Ottawa, so far. Some of the staff is quite friendly, nice and helpful, but the management is terrible. Its shower area (men) and locker rooms are pretty dirty. Steam room and sauna is also in very bad shape. I am paying a premium price to this gym, but not even getting a minimum standard or service.
Expérience négative: Went for a yoga class, and it was not a great experience. The class itself was fine, guided by Stacey, which was nice and flowy. What sucked was that there was a power class of some sort thumping away next door — its kinda hard to centre your breath to the sounds of ONE MORE TIME, LETS GO, ALRIGHT THATS IT. Maybe have that class somewhere else in the building. What REALLY sucked was the attitude of the girl at the front desk, Jaleela. She came off cold and uninterested, and had a look about her that was 100% looking down on us. We had to sign in differently since we got gifted a free week from my sister, and she made the process so much harder than it had to be. Absolutely ruined the experience before we even stepped in the actual gym. Would not return just based on Jaleela.
Expérience positive: While I agree that it is far overcrowded and has cleanliness challenges, they overhauled their sauna (likely from feedback) and it is 10/10. Essentially kept my memby because of how great their new sauna is.
Expérience positive: Most Movatis keep a very high level of cleanliness for their facilities this Movati held a good standard through most of its popular areas however unfortunately after seeing the pool holding a very thick layer of sticky grime along the side of the pool and hot tub it left me personally feeling as though I needed to shower immediately. I highly recommend a very good deep clean of the pool and hot tub to meet a higher level of sanitary standards.

Expérience fantastique: I've had a great experience at this facility. I signed up for the groups fitness classes that aren't offered at any other gym. I honestly find it shockingly affordable (I always assume Movati must cost a fortune) but especially considering all the unique options available. Hot yoga, aerial hoop, antigravity, and those are $25-30 classes at specialty gyms. I have tried yoga, spinning, drumming, dance, barre, bungee, antigravity, the pool, and both the universal and womans gyms, but Aerial Hoop with Alison is the absolute best.

I’ve been a member for years, nearly half the cables are broken, machines are terribly maintained, enforcing rules such as no gym bags allowed upstairs. Steam room and sauna are in terrible shape, the wood in the sauna is rotting and falling off walls, with the occasional exposed screws to beware of. Management at this location clearly needs a change.
Expérience négative: Just canceled my membership today because I have been told I am not allowed to have my gym bag while I workout , very disappointing considering this is the only location that enforces this rule and if you don't abide by the rule your pass will be revoked lol, not to mention the equipment is constantly broken, staff is clueless. I could continue on, save yourself the 100 dollars a month and go to a community center gym . I have been a member since it was The Athletic Club , now it is equivalent to a planet fitness or fit4less and not for real weight lifters

Expérience fantastique: Genuinely amazing place with mostly all the fitness stuff. Clean pool, decent gym environment, and perfect Yoga Studio! It’s a great spot for everything. Alison was awesome, showed us all the facilities with details.
Expérience négative: This gym has really fallen apart. They ban bags to reduce “clutter” like me putting all my gym equipment on the floor is any better, kick you out for certain footwear as well? Claims to be a Club but has little kids running around it all day. Gets absurdly busy all day and has only 2 working cables and has all the others broken for months. $70 a month but can’t fix cables. When asking why these new rules to the staff they got very rude about my concern as well.
Expérience négative: Awful experiences these last few months. Anyone, and I do mean anyone giving the gym a 5-star review recently is 100% lying and likely a family member. Let me break it down: 1. The gym is busy in perpetuity. I come at 5am, busy (especially cardio). I sometimes come at noon on a weekday. Guess what? Busy. From 2:30pm until close, the gym is unbelievably busy. There are several high schools in Barrhaven and for some reason these kids all collectively decided to work out here. The first school gets out at 2:15, then another at 3, and another at 3:30. The gym is busy in droves. 2. The facilities are falling apart. The change rooms are exceptionally dirty with many of the lockers being broken. It gets so crowded in there I often have to wait to shower while I see reprobates who disgustingly leave their towels all over the place. 3. Broken equipment does not get repaired for months. After 3 months they FINALLY just fixed the cable machines. Of the 10 machines, 8 were broken for months. Same trend with the other machines that breakdown easy (preacher curl stand for some reason?). It takes MONTHS to have anything repaired. Overall, this place is awful. Be very weary of the positive 5 star reviews.

Expérience négative: I’ve been a member for almost 2 years and what used to be a nice place to workout has been going downhill real quick. It’s extremely crowded, which makes parking and working out stressful. Equipments are always broken. The women’s area has only 3 benches that are most of times in use, which means I have to be alternating between areas to be able to complete a workout. All they care about is to find more and more members but don’t do anything to accommodate everyone. I’m seriously considering switching gyms if the service doesn’t improve.

Expérience négative: Anyone giving this gym more than the minimum 1 star is lying to you. This location is falling so hard it’s a corporate issue which will spill over into other clubs. Staff is nice, and hard working. The greedy pumping out of memberships without managing anything, or even taking feedback is insane. Everything is broken or occupied by groups, or individuals who think they're influencers, parking is full, the gm is awol and has zero social skills to engage with members, zero interest in showing up to the club or addressing any issues. Let your wallet do the talking and go anywhere but here - you’ll regret signing up. ‘Premium’ has lost all meaning except when it comes to the amount they charge you even just to cancel if you’re allowed to. They’re not even willing to extend the hrs back to 24 to give you a chance to sacrifice sleep to avoid 4 high schools worth of kids smashing weights, ego lifting, boxing, yelling, dressing up for a fashion show, recording reels and the list of reasons to not go could go on and on. Busy isn’t this gyms biggest problem, it’s complete lack of leadership, and regard for services not provided. It’s actually dangerous. I don’t like leaving these types of reviews, but if you’re looking for a gym to join to actually train, you gotta go somewhere else. GL to anyone who decides to take a chance.

Expérience négative: I have been a member at movati for over 10 years ,it use to be the best gym in town sadly it's going downhill ...half the machines are broken for over 2 month now ..I spoke to the manager last month and he told me that they will be fixed by the 25th of Jan but so far nothing happened. The hot tub is broken most of the time as well.

Expérience négative: My ongoing experience at this gym is nothing short of a disgrace. The lockers are a sorry sight, hanging off the hinges with up to three hooks missing inside. The men's dry sauna has been falling apart for months, and the staff seems oblivious to any repair efforts. The toilets were clogged at 5 AM, missing toilet seats as the cherry on top of this embarrassment. Downstairs, the water fountain was out of order, and a multitude of machines upstairs are left unrepaired. To add insult to injury, there's a consistent absence of shampoo and body wash even in the morning – the dispensers always shamefully empty. It leaves me questioning the competence of those running this place – perhaps Stevie Wonder is at the helm?
Expérience négative: I wish i can give this location zero stars. I’ve tried to contact management for awhile..but no one ever picks up. So here’s a brief summary of what’s going on at this gym. You’ll be paying almost $100 a month to spend 20+ minutes to park. Then when you finally find a parking space, you’re greeted with an overcrowded gym where half of the equipment is broken for months on end. I have witnessed on multiple occasions young teenagers using the equipment irresponsibly and the employees don’t do anything. This poses a serious health risk but the employees that “work” at this location just couldn’t be bothered. The management of this location is just pitiful. People getting paid to just talk to their friends. This gym would rather spend money on new floors rather than fix the equipment they have. Compared to other MOVATI locations, the equipment at Barrhaven is also very outdated. I’ve been coming to this gym for years and I’m just so disappointed with the current state of it.
Expérience négative: In regards to the MOVATI athletic Center in Barrhaven Ottawa. Almost everyone in the gym is complaining about the poor state of the equipments and the unavailability of many equipments for months at a time. Some equipments pose health and safety risks yet still operating until failure . It’s an accident waiting to happen that may result in Bodley injury . When asked why many equipments are down, The answer is always, waiting for parts to come from China. I have noticed that the personal training room always in good shape and functional 100% all the time, yet we are not permitted to use it even when many equipments in the gym are broken. Many of the benches, seats are ripped and in need for replacement . When we asked how long before the equipment get fixed the manage answer (about two months. ) This is not acceptable what so ever and head office need to address this pressing and reoccurring situation.
Expérience négative: This place has an ongoing issue with lockers being broken into and money and credit cards being stolen. I strongly urge other members it has happened to to file police reports so they are following up with this gym. Multiple people have had this happen and even heard two people talking about it today how their lockers were broken into and hundreds of dollars being stolen. Why is this happening regularly and nobody is doing anything about it ? With the amount of money you pay for a membership you’d think the business would be making a plan of action to stop the thieves who have made themselves quite comfortable robbing Movati members. Do better Movati!
Expérience positive: Used to be a terrific gym, but has gone downhill fast. Most staff are great but many tend to turn a blind eye to people and enjoy their social time. The gym is dirty, machines always broken for long periods of time and rules and basic etiquette are rarely followed and never enforced. This location went from a 5 staff fitness facility worthy of the Movati brand to a basic YMCA drop in center where no one seems to care about anything. The cost continues to increase but the quality and value plummets. Not what it used to be. Updated to add improvements have been made.
Expérience fantastique: I used to be a member years ago and decided to re-join. It is worth the money ($1000+ a year) as it includes access to swimming pools, hot tub, sauna, classes, cardio, and weight equipment. Plus, I appreciate that it is open at 5 am on the weekdays (as that works with my hectic schedule).
Expérience négative: Gym is awful...most equipment is broken and they take 3-4 months to fix. you are paying a premium membership for what exactly? switching gyms and seriously do not come here if youre serious about your $ and health.
Expérience négative: Worst location. Equipment always broken and limited compared to other locations. Water fountains are warm. Very subpar for the price of the membership. Edit: Believe it or not 3 out of approximately 5 pulley/cable stations have been out of order for almost 2 months… during the busiest time of the year!!! If I could give 0 stars I would.
Expérience négative: As of December 31st 2023, 1/3 (one third) of ALL gym machines are broken/out of service. 3/4 (three quarters) of ALL cable machines are broken. Some of these machines have been out of service for MONTHS. This is unreal. I’m paying 100$ a month for this amateur level of service? Where is the repair guy? Did he pass away or something? This place has gone downhill so fast. Guess what happens when an already busy gym has a 1/3 of their equipment broken? You guessed it, makes it all that much harder to workout. You suck
Expérience négative: Simply way too crowded for what their capacity, it does not matter what time of the day you are going for. Typical greedy corporation where they are willingly sell the memberships beyond capacity and let everyone adversely affected by this whole experience. Not to mention their gym is quite pricy compared to other counterparts. Not recommended..
Expérience négative: the definition of corporate greed. They oversell memberships making the overall experience mediocre to say the list. Then they lock you down on this contracts where you can't do anything for a whole year. Do not go there, and if you do do not sign a contract. it's extremely crowded
Expérience négative: This car belongs to two personal trainers inside this gym. They are both physically fit and use the treadmill for hours. Yet, they are using disability parking lot. One elderly woman asked them not to park there. The lady personal trainer wiped the ground over this elderly woman. Very shameful!! Stop parking in a disability parking if you are physically fit.
Expérience positive: I have been going to this gym since 2018 and have a few constructive suggestions to make; Honestly if you utilize classes, you get your bang for your buck in this gym. There’s always many options and it helps my motivation and consistency immensely. There are amazing instructors like Julia L, Dina H, Tracey, Stephanie and Kirsten are some of the best teachers I’ve had. They make the classes great However in the last year, I’ve noticed a change in the gym… it has become EXTREMELY busy in both the womens and co-Ed sections. It’s become very hard to find a parking spot at peak hours and they tell you park across the street which I don’t think is great to tell members who pay a premium. It also doesn’t help when it’s so busy and high schoolers are huddled in a group of 3+ hogging a machine for so long.. something needs to be done about that because it ruins the experience for everyone. I’ve also noticed a decline in the quality of the teachers. Particularly Negin who teaches yoga… she often forgets to do poses completely on the other side of the body seeming unprepared & also plays pop music with lyrics in them during what’s supposed to be a yoga class. I often leave feeling annoyed & the opposite of calm with an hour wasted on a less than mediocre class. There has also been a decrease in the professionalism of the workers particularly at the front desk. I used to LOVE when I’d get greeted at the front with a “have a great workout!” And a “have a nice day!” When I left. It was a personal little touch that made the gym feel extra special. But now workers are too preoccupied in their own conversations to acknowledge me… I also notice when I have a question, 9/10 they do not have the answer and regard me annoyingly as if I shouldn’t have asked. This saddens me that this gyms quality is going down because it’s been a fixture in my life for many years but I really hope whoever is in charge reads this and implements at least some change. It will make many patrons happier !
Expérience négative: BEFORE BUYING MEMBERSHIP,PLEASE READ MY EXPERIENCE Make sure you’re staying in this city after buying the membership. Even if you will get a job offer just refuse it.bcz you have a gym membership and movati is not going to cancel it under any condition. I still have to pay even though I will not be in this city anymore. I came to Ottawa in Aug. Got this membership in October. And thn I got a job offer in london. I am moving back. I am ready to show my job letters as well. Now I can’t refuse a job opportunity just bcz I have a gym membership in Barrhaven. There is no movati in London. I mean is it fair that I pay for my membership even I am not living in the city. These are some uncertainties in life,can happen to anybody. Like I mentioned I just moved to Ottawa few months ago. I didn’t knw anyone in city. I did posted onljne but sorry I was not able to find anybody. What should I do, just keep paying for it? Guys please dont make this a worst experience that I stop my friends or known ones from buying movati memership. It’s just a gym membership plz dont make it a huge deal. Dont make me feel like I did a big blunder that I took your membership.
Expérience négative: I have been a member of Movati before it was even called Movati in Ottawa, at least over 10+ years ago when I joined. For the most part they are great and is a great gym…. BUT that being said the Barhaven location is the worse. Extremely busy at ALL times, I get they need money and make up for covid but to oversell memberships and be 150% over capacity…. And for the love of all that is holy, DO NOT go when high school kids are there. They hog machines with groups of over 5 and they don’t leave the machine. They each take one and rotate between each other, that makes 5 machines taken for 20mins. Management please do something and don’t just reply “we are sorry to hear this and are doing our best to rectify” don’t say and do. Just like working out :)
Expérience négative: The dirtiest and crazy over crowded Gym I ever bean. This is not the movati i know from being a Kanata member since 2017. Most of the times, most of the machines are Brocken and took months to repair each. No place to park when i arrived. Then. The wipe containers to wipe equipment were empty. Overall its a nice place in other locations but the Barrhaven club is useless when you cant use the equipment you are paying to use do to over crowding. It also has less equipment then the other Movatis.
Expérience positive: The gym itself is great. but if you're interested in a gym that actually cares about you as an individual then you better go somewhere else. I've only forgotten my wallet twice in over a year of being a member there. The first time I did, the "gentleman" at the front desk refused to give me a towel, even when I urged for them to take my name down and put a note that I owe them 2.00$ for the towel. Yes you read that right, a towel worth 2.00$ and I honestly forgot my wallet and they were not willing to problem solve or even just lend me a towel, which is literally 2.00$. I guess the 2.00$ is more valuable than a long term member? Several months later, I wasnt able to find my wallet before work. I thought I could use my phone to pay but it wasn't working. I wanted to buy a shake and I felt like my blood sugar was crashing. My hands were starting to tremor, I was becoming faint/dizzy and beginning to slur my speech and have trouble thinking properly. The little teenager behind the counter lacked the problem solving and people skills and was ready to risk a medical emergency of one of its members rather than problem solve, put a note on my account that I owe them 10$. Unfortunately, some of the staff really need work on real world problem solving and people skills... However, many others are great.

Expérience négative: The gym is almost clean but hugely oversubscribed. A 30’ training can take as long as 90’ due to the wait times of each and every machine.
Expérience négative: I have never been so embarrassed in my life!! Go to class 5mins early for rock bottom trianer is Kirsten. Because they are not organized at front lobby with construction i get ro to class at 916. And infront of 20 ppl Kirsten kicks me out!!! Are you kidding me i signed up for this drove 15 mins to get humiliated!! Their answer was ok we canceled your class. Is this a service i am paying for? To get thrown out of a class and not accommodated for their delay. Kirsten should have understood and welcomed me as i signed up prior to this class
Expérience négative: It’s almost 2 weeks since someone broke in my locker. It was Friday night and I called that night but I had to see manager day after. I wasn’t aware that’s “very common “ and that happens regularly?!! I think that’s something we should get told when we signed the contract. If I knew it I would still have my $200 and wouldn’t have to cancel all my credit cards and go through that! I would keep my wallet with me all the time?! It Is hard to shower with car keys, phone and wallet but I would managed somehow?! I asked question, if I was there at the moment when they (it’s not one person for sure) broke my locker would I be safe?!? Manager said yes, yes? I am thinking, how he knows?! I don’t feel safe anymore plus it’s not a fun to carry your personal stuff around?! I asked if they are aware of that is it that huge expenses to have somebody coming to locker room and making sure it’s safe??? Sometimes doesn’t feel safe at the pool area as well and there’s absolutely no one making sure people behave like they supposed to??! Very disappointed.
Expérience négative: After visited the kanata location, this one is a joke. Nobody clean the shower and it’s like a refugee community center. Gym is always packed. Overall this location doesn’t worth the price. Stay away
Expérience négative: Went in there with an appointment to speak about a membership and the lady on the phone couldn’t tell me who I was meeting with. Got there and was told I was meeting with the manager but then after a few minutes, he was busy and turned it over to an account wrap. Clearly they don’t really care about your money. . The manager walked by me twice and didn’t even make eye contact.. there was a coffee cup left in the table that was clearly there for awhile as it was there when I entered and when I left but no one was in that front lounge.
Expérience positive: I’ve had a Movati membership since the Barrhaven club opened. The place has improved since it opened with a better flow of machines, and more machines in general, but the gym needs to implement more rules or enforce better gym etiquette, especially with the younger crowd. Workouts always end up being longer then they should be because you’re constantly waiting for groups of kids to finish their exercises while having full conversations with their friends. The gym is always so busy and it will probably get worse as the months get cooler and there’s no where for these kids to hangout other than the gym, which seems to be the most popular spot for them. I have to also extend this to personal trainers as well. If you’re with a client, please take the appropriate time to rest between sets, then get going again because the gym is just too busy to be wasting time chatting. I’d cancel my membership if there was a comparable gym in the area.

Expérience positive: Overall Movati in Barrhaven is fine, but there is few thing they could improve...when welcoming new members there should be taken time to explain house rules reminding that other members should be respected by behaving nicely and pleasantly. Dry sauna needs some serous face lift, not to mention that should be clear rules how to behave once you enter such as not to come in naked, do workouts or be loud. Also, there is no place to put personal items such as cell phones, headphones, water bottles etc. in pool area or near by steam sauna.
Expérience négative: The gym is always busy, all they care is sign more people doesn’t matter the age if they allow 5 years old kid come workout they would they don’t care ,all they care is making more money , I paid more money here to enjoy and workout I end up quitting, cuz I got frustrated every time I go there , was packed all the time with teenagers , it’s like going workout in high school , One more things when you sign they tell you first month is free but after that I found out they charged me 100$ ,
