Seven Bays Bouldering

Expérience négative: I rate a lot of places on Google maps and very rarely give less then 3 or 4 stars but I gotta with this place. I have not gone climbing so maybe that part is better but I stopped in for a peppermint soy milk latte and was sorely disappointed. Was expecting a nice festive treat at starbucks-ish level prices & there for quality. I should have just made a coffee at home. Could not taste the peppermint syrup at all don't know if they completely forgot it or if they put a miniscule amount in or what. Coffee tasted very bitter also like it was burnt or something ? First and last time there for me personally.

Expérience fantastique: Really nice little bouldering gym! The main bouldering area is pretty small, but the climbs are interesting and varied. They do have an awesome training room in the basement as well. It has 2 spray walls and a moonboard as well as all the workout equipment you could need. Cafe has some delicious desserts and everyone was super friendly. Wish the main bouldering area was bigger but it was still a fun time!

Expérience fantastique: A great little climbing gym with great sets and a good amount of slabs and overhangs. There is also a large cafe that is attached to the gym which is ideal for a quick break. The downstairs is a great warmup area with a couple spray walls and a moon board as well as workout equipment.

Expérience fantastique: Great bouldering gym in a convenient downtown location with awesome coffee and cafe food options. Cortado was stellar, and the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful for all levels of climbing. Shoutout to whoever set the v5 white holds with the overhang - Probably my favourite route I’ve climbed to date!

Expérience positive: Wonderful atmosphere, great small bouldering gym with a decent basement gym for exercises. Food and drink is a little overpriced for the quality you get.

Expérience fantastique: One of the coolest cafes in Halifax that I’ve been in. Was surprised to learn that the venue is actually a bouldering gym, and that the cafe and bar are just add-ons to the facility. The coffee is amazing. The espresso has a lot of layers to it; strong dark chocolate that somehow gets smoother and less intense as you roll it around in your mouth. One of only three places we visited that made a proper cortado.

Expérience fantastique: Nice place to climb. Even if you're not a pro, they would make you feel at home. Has a wide range of opening hours and also a coffee shop! You can store your clothes and shoes while practicing. It's also safe for kids (but they have to be supervised by an adult)

Expérience fantastique: Dropped in for a climb here while on vacation & had a great time! The staff was helpful & friendly and made sure everyone was climbing safely. The climbing space isn’t huge for how busy it is, but the routes are super fun, challenging & well marked. The cafe is great, and it’s really cool to have a space for people to hangout while other people climb, or to grab something after climbing. Really cool space, would definitely recommend checking it out!

Expérience fantastique: Great music selection. You really never know what you're going to get. They've played Billy Talent consecutively, and then there's this lineup from March 21, 2022: - Yeah! (Usher) - Crazy In Love (Beyonce) - Crank that (Soulja Boy) - Tell me what you want (Spice girls) - One Two Step (Ciara) - Please Don’t Stop The Music (Rihanna) It's always something. Also, good coffee.

Expérience fantastique: Knowledgeable and friendly team running the best climbing gym in the city! Weekly wall resets keep me coming back and challenged, and the cafe side of the space is also very good. The espresso is always delicious, the food menu is solid, and the local craft beer/cider options leave nothing to be desired.

Expérience positive: The place is pretty cool. I like the decoration and the vibe. It’s rare to find a cafe that is open until 11pm in Halifax and with reliable Wi-Fi. The hot chocolate I had was overpriced. Nothing special for $5 dollars… I would prefere to hang out in a cooler environment as I started to sweat while drinking my beverage and I changed table to be close the the window.

It is however very busy and a very popular work space, don’t always count on a table being available

Expérience positive: Love this place! Feels like home. Been a member since January. There are often great membership deals for beginners. Not a place for uncommitted climbers - the routes are scaled on a gradient of difficulties, but this means that there is always a good challenge for a regular climber.

Didn't try the bouldering but the people seemed to have fun.. Will definitely go back if I'm back in Halifax !

Expérience fantastique: One of the few cafes in Halifax right now that is setup well if you’re looking for somewhere to get remote work done with a coffee and maybe some lunch. Lots of natural light, friendly staff and a well thought through layout to stay safe during COVID. Love the space! (Oh also people seem to really love the rock climbing I just didn’t take advantage so I can’t review it)

Expérience positive: Really great food, coffee, staff, and space. Always busy, and even busier now since people are looking for places to study and work due to Covid-19. My only problem with Seven Bays is the sign on their bathroom. Using the bathroom is not a privilege that should be awarded to paying customers - it's a right. They need to rethink their position on who gets to use their bathroom and their role in the community.

Expérience négative: I have been climbing for a month and really disappointed with how this place is run My friend received a gift card for his BDay so he invited me to join him. Oddly, his GC wasn’t able to be used to pay for a membership- only drop ins. So, he has $150 that he can only pay for the most expensive sessions instead of buying a ~ 3 month membership We signed up for the one week pass and after that week decided to get a membership and they charged us a $30 sign up —- they couldn’t explain why they had to charge it because we were already in the system... but it was a rule by management. Finally, today I biked to seven bays and the gym is closed for reset day. I was told the gym would be reset from time to time,but nobody cared to tell me a date or that the gym would be closed until 3 pm. They suggested I bike to Bauer’s lake to climb.... not really a great option before work to bike another 9km. Consistently I am let down by this place. Anybody want to buy a Gift Cert that you can’t use?

Expérience fantastique: Loved it here. The staff was amazing and their presentation/suggestion for the coffees was spectacular. Felt like I was at an art exhibit the way they explained everything down to the detail. 10/10.

Whatever soy milk they use is one of the best I’ve had as well as my boyfriend says seven bays has the best drip coffee in all of Halifax and believe me we’ve tried nearly every cafe. Expérience fantastique: Best place to study and work, and the vibe is really good that you can sit for very long hours and you will continually be so energetic. Not a go to food place, it's more of hangout and self learning cafe. It has rock climbing area and I can probably say this is the only cafe in Halifax having access to professional rock climbing. Apart from all that sandwiches are pretty decent, my favourite is a normal breakfast sandwich.

JAVA BLEND ☕️ I had mentioned its my first time here had to ask all the questions :-/ They did have maple syrup so I was impressed as it’s great w/any types of coffees. It definitely felt like I was bothering them. Staff do not seem happy to work there so possibly some issues going on...? So glad CORTADOS is in my neighbourhood Love the staff there☕️ and the view!

Expérience fantastique: While I'm still trying to build up the courage to make an absolute fool of myself on the nifty rock climbing wall, the cafe area itself is such a cool little hipster spot. If you're a student, it's especially great as they have super yummy, affordable snacks and a strong wifi connection. My friends and I like to head here for book discussions and beer.

Expérience positive: I have climbed at seven bays for 8 months now and I gotta say their problems get very repetitive after awhile. It feels like they change out the holds but don't actually change the route. When it comes to staff I always feel that the staff at 7 bays are super busy with the cafe and don't have time to support the bouldering. On nights when there is a designated staff member on the wall it's so busy you can't actually get any advice or support. My partner and I made the switch to East Peak (East Peak is fabulous! yes, a little more expensive but totally worth it!) and while we may occasionally come back to Seven Bays for the "cave" problems you won't see us here regularly any more.

The gym downstairs is good for training & warm ups. The cafe is very chill with excellent hot bevs. The music is always tasty. The staff and community here are welcoming to new climbers and are all around solid people. 6/5.

Expérience fantastique: The Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the Coffee is fantastic, the music is always perfect and the climbing wall is well set and changed enough to keep it fresh. The atmosphere is welcoming even to new climbers and I've yet to have an unpleasant personal interaction with other climbers. All in all, 5 stars isn't enough to do it justice.

This week my punch card (which was one away from a free coffee) went missing from my desk at work, and they replaced it for me. They establish a rapport with their usual customers and that is truly appreciated :)

Expérience fantastique: This is a cool and cozy spots! I’m visiting Halifax and I’ve been here for straight days now. They have vegan/vegetarian options here for food. The ambiance is great, the staff is nice again, good experience. Maybe next time when I visit Halifax again, I will try bouldering since it’s just literally on the corner of the cafe. I will highly recommend this place!
