Expérience fantastique: The only reason i’m giving 5 stars is because of the young man with the brown curly hair at the door. He ALWAYS says “hello!” with a kind smile when we enter and leave the gym. It may sound like a small gesture but that is what a gym customer service should be about (warmth and community) and this employee is awesome at it! Props to him!

Expérience négative: The employees at the gym are extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. They rarely engage with customers and seem uninterested in providing any assistance. Whenever approached for help or inquiries, they respond with rudeness or indifference, giving the impression that they don’t care about the needs of their clients. The lack of attention to customer service is evident, as they seem more focused on avoiding work than ensuring a positive experience for gym members. This behavior creates a frustrating and uncomfortable environment for those who rely on the gym for their fitness goals. I do not recommend any one looking for a gym look somewhere else !!!

Expérience négative: Disgusting gym . Owner often gets confrontational and extremely disrespectful with the members. Most of the staff do absolutely nothing . Half the equipment is broken at all times . Dumbbells nowhere to be found and scattered all over the gym . STAY AWAY

Expérience positive: I’ve been to many econofitness gyms in Montréal. And this place is not bad compared to others. However, the gym isn’t that big and has lesser equipment’s compared. But the equipment’s are kept clean and friendly atmosphere

Expérience négative: After reading the below reviews of 1 star ratings, I wish there were negative stars to rate this horrible place because they're all right. Those incompetent, disrespectful employees should get fired if the owner wants to keep the business steady. They'd get smacked in the face of they spoke like that to people elsewhere I can almost guarantee. So if it rains or snows after April 15th and you dont have an extra pair of shoes then its completely fine to walk in? Idiots! Dirty, , broken machines, smelly facilities... a total reflection who those employees are. The worst of the worst. I am never going there again.

Expérience négative: I've been going to this gym for the past two years, and it's been a terrible experience. The manager is incredibly incompetent and rude, and the gym itself is in horrible condition with most of its machines broken. The employees, including the manager, are unhelpful and disrespectful. Today, when I asked the guy at the front desk if I could renew my membership since I didn't realize it had expired, he told me I needed to be over 18 to do so. When I explained that I would bring my parent next time since they weren't with me, he was still uncooperative and dismissive. It's frustrating dealing with such incompetence and disrespect from the management and staff.

Expérience négative: If you’re looking for a good gym, keep on looking. This place is a dump. The staff is unfriendly and confrontational and the management is dismissive and negligent. Do you like broken machines? Loose treadmills? Shirtless underage boys flexing and hogging machines? I didn’t think so. Today was the final straw though… a beautiful, sunny March morning, so I put on my new running shoes and drove to the gym. Walked 10 feet into the gym and wiped my clean shoes on the carpets as a courtesy. The new girl asked me “where are your shoes”. I thought she was joking. I say I’m wearing them. She replied “can you read? It says you need to change your shoes” I replied, it’s not raining, snowing or wet and I drove here… what the difference between now and summer. “She said it’s the rules, you need to change your shoes” so I ignored her and walked in, had a decent workout. I supposedly now have a note on my file, whatever that means. IF you want an unpleasant, smelly, broken gym, Econofitness Cavendish might be for you.

From November 15 to April 15, no outdoor shoes will be allowed in the gym. Please bring a 2nd pair of shoes for training. Thank you and have a nice day.

Expérience négative: Was a member for 6+years. Everything fine until you need to contact customer service about a problem, in which case there is no customer service... Form on their site is useless. Tried 3 times over 2.5months and no answer. A manager a gym told me he couldn't do anything and to use the form... A real person answered me on facebook and you guessed it... Told me to just fill out the form.

Expérience négative: Worst experience ever they put kids in running the gym. They don't know most of the rules. Most machines don't work nearly all the time, and today I went to the gym in my sneakers. I parked my car at the door, went to the gym, put my jacket on, and some kids said to me, you don't have another pair of shoes, so I said no because it's dry outside. He said no, it's not, and you can't play, you have to go get another pair of shoes, so I said, are you kidding me, my shoes are dry, should I go home and get another pair of shoes? He said yes. I really understand that when it’s raining or snowing outside I have to go with my UGG and then change inside the gym but today it’s really nice outside it’s not rain no snow nothing the street it’s dry and he was really rude They need to learn how to respect people. Specially the people older than them. They have zero experience with customer service. I will never ever go to this gym again.

The manager is mean and talking to everyone with attitude, most of the machines are out of service. And during weekdays is so crowded

Expérience négative: Some of the devices are broken for more than 40 days and no one takes care of them. For example, my new workout program had a hamstring movement with the machine, but I haven't used the machine once in the past 6 weeks because it was broken the whole time and still is.

If you are thinking that your gym is working excellemt then wake up from your dream. Gym machines are always broken and washrooms smells like hell. Expérience négative: The most unpleasant gym experience I’ve ever had. It feels like a prison. They have recently added a full body turnstile to its entrance in addition to the double set of fob scanners at the doors (that do not work until the third or fourth door pull for each door), ostensibly to make sure that basic members do not enter the gym during the hours that are for premium members only. The result, however, is to punish rule abiding members, in the name of cutting the cost of hiring actual human employees to man the desk during these hours. Adding to the oppressive atmosphere, there are cameras and cctv EVERYWHERE, again as a replacement for paying actual human beings to watch over and maintain the gym. Between this, the constantly broken machines, the general disarray and shabbiness of its facilities, it is clear that this is a business that exists not to provide passable service to its customers, but to collect as many fees as possible while repulsing people who actually show up to use their memberships.

Expérience négative: I used to go to this gym for few years. But had to cancel my membership, since machines are always broken, gym is not clean at all. And it is extremely busy during the week. Econofitness used to have nice gyms around the city.

Expérience positive: Update November 16 @ 10 am The receptionist is a misery. Doesn’t even look up when you walk in. No greeting. When advised of machines not working and to put a sign -doesn’t even answer. This is the only ECONO with extremely rude staff. Clearly management is doing something wrong at this location. The most unwelcoming receptionists at this location. They don’t even look up and acknowledge you. Besides that the gym is perfect for my needs

Expérience positive: Opens 24/7 business hour. Because of it,when walking into gym area at the back section,7am in the morning. Dumbbells were left behind everywhere on the floor. Not being put back on the rack,after finished using it. And inside the washroom,half the time very messy. Unused toilet papers were scattered all over the floor around toilet stalls. Presumably from members had finished their over night workouts before 6am !

Expérience négative: I would usually go to this location because it’s near my house everytime I go it is very dirty the bathrooms are dirty and the every barbells have a white substance i get a feeling that this place is not very clean not to mention all the broken equipment. If you are thinking of joining this gym maybe go to a different location like downtown

Expérience négative: I get that it's a "no-frills" gym. But guys, 5 machines all broken at the same time. The low cost is supposed to be because you get working equipment, and nothing else. We're paying for the bare minimum so at least do the bare minimum.

Expérience négative: Whoever is considering joining, please read the following review. This company doesn't care about their clients at all. I've been working out here for almost 5 years and the gym is in an awful state now. It used to be okay. Now, the machines are always broken. The pictures I attached were taken in a one month span from October to November. They don't fix the machines. They don't care and they reply the same thing to every negative review. Whoever leaves a positive review has no idea what they are talking about. This gym is awful. The bathroom is always dirty and smells awful. Look at the "newest" reviews and you will see barely any positive comments.

Expérience négative: Legitimately unbearable if you go between 3pm - 11pm. Way too many people, broken equipment. Dumbells & weights everywhere. Your a 1 hour workouy easily turns into a 2.5 hour one while you wait around for machines because they're all taken. Got kicked out the other day for not having a second pair of shoes (fair enough) but tbh it wasn't snowing and the ground was dry. Went home got a second pair. Come back and see at least 7 different people walking around with full on boots in the workout area. I couldn't believe it. For real dude this place not worth, gonna switch asap.

Expérience négative: I've been to several Econofitness branches over the past few year and I can honestly say this is probably the worst branch I've been to. Several machines/equipments out of order. The dumbbells are everywhere, not even placed back in the correct racks. I just dont see the value proposition of why you guys increase the annual memberships but all I can see are broken equipments and unclean gym amenities. Won't go back to this branch.

Expérience positive: It's alright. I don't often think about cancelling my membership, but when I hear those Montreal FC ads 3 times during a workout I reconsider my gym membership. I think we can stop those for a while (???).

The gym's numerous shortcomings left me utterly frustrated, and I feel compelled to share my thoughts in this review. Customer Service Nightmare: ★☆☆☆☆ First and foremost, the customer service=is nothing short of a nightmare. The staff provided me with false information about canceling my subscription, clearly attempting to squeeze more money out of me. Their blatant disregard for honesty and transparency is unacceptable. Equipment Breakdowns: ★☆☆☆☆ It's astounding how often the gym's equipment malfunctioned during my time there. Almost every day, I encountered multiple pieces of equipment that were out of order. This made it nearly impossible to have a consistent workout routine, leaving me frustrated and feeling like I was wasting my time. Hydromassage Disappointment: ★☆☆☆☆ I paid for a platinum membership that promised access to a hydromassage. However, every time I attempted to use it, it was conveniently "out of order." It's disheartening to see the gym not deliver on the amenities they promised to their paying members. Appalling Hygiene: ★☆☆☆☆ One word sums up the state of the bathroom and changing rooms appalling. The stench was unbearable, and the overall cleanliness was severely lacking. It's unacceptable for a gym to neglect such basic hygiene standards. In conclusion, my experience was a complete letdown. Their terrible customer service, constant equipment breakdowns, false advertising regarding amenities, and abysmal hygiene standards have driven me to seek a different gym. I would strongly advise anyone considering a membership at this branch to think twice and explore other options. This gym has a long way to go before it can provide a satisfactory experience for its members.

Expérience négative: This gym so bad today I went to do legs and there are a total of 5 broken leg machines and 1 broken lat pull down, so now I gotta wait a few weeks or even months for the machines to be fixed. Also almost every week there’s always at least 1or 2 machines that are broken.

Expérience négative: Honestly, most disappointing econo ive been. People disrespectful, machines broken (like at least 6-7), not clean, lack of equipment, lack of machines in general. Is not my gym, I had to go because is the closest 24h and honestly I prefer not working out next time than coming here again.

Expérience négative: Everytime I go there, there is at least 2 broken machines. You usually have to wait at least weeks, sometimes a month, to have the machine fixed. I remember that once, the leg extension was broken for 2 months. There is usually at least one broken lat pulldown and those are machines are the most important to someone's workout. Lastly, all the dumbbells are scattered around the gym and it only goes up to 75 pounds. If you have a possibility to go to an another gym, you should go to it

Expérience négative: This is the worst gym! They have been charging me twice every month. I have tried several times to fix the payment issue; unfortunately the manager is never there. I have even tried canceling my membership several times. They even charged me to cancel the membership and are still passing payments every month. Horrible customer service!

Expérience négative: Unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience with the management at this gym branch. Last week, I visited the gym and realized that my membership had expired. A staff member asked me to fill out a form, which I promptly did, and assured me that the renewal process was complete. However, two days ago, when I attempted to access the gym, I discovered that the issue had not been resolved. They advised me to renew online, but I didn't have my bank card information with me at the time. Considering that my friends were waiting for me to start our workout, I requested to be allowed entry temporarily and complete the renewal process later that evening. Unfortunately, my request was denied, citing legal reasons. When the manager arrived, he spoke to me in an arrogant manner and disregarded my concerns. I tried explaining the persistent issue of certain machines being out of order for several months, despite my previous requests for repairs. However, he dismissed me, claiming his authority as the manager and insisting that he has the final say on who can access the gym. Shockingly, he even threatened to cancel my registration anytime he saw me, stating that he would never allow me entry again, even if I completed the online registration. This experience was truly unbelievable and disheartening, as it fell far short of the expected behavior and professionalism from a manager.

Enjoy finding dumbbells and plates scattered around the gym, can’t find a pulley accessory? Try scouring through the most unusual spots, you might get lucky! So, if you spend a questionable amount of time in escape rooms or participating in treasure hunts, this is the gym for you! Get the mystery experience and get fit at the same time! It’s a win win. Expérience négative: I had a terrible experience at this gym. The management is completely negligent when it comes to maintaining the equipment and ensuring a clean and safe environment for their customers. The entire gym is always a disaster with weights scattered all over the place, making it extremely difficult to navigate. Every couple of days, the employees get around to putting some of the weights away once it gets over bearing. It's as if no one cares about putting their weights away after using them. The machines are in terrible condition, and even when they do get "fixed," it's only temporary before they break again. It's been months since some of the machines have been functional, and nothing seems to be getting done to fix them. The cardio area is equally frustrating, as the window blinds have been broken since 2018, and the sun shines directly in your face, making it impossible to work out without being blinded. Not only is this gym poorly maintained and overrun with unsupervised children, but any complaint made to the employees or manager is completely disregarded and ignored. It seems like the management doesn't care about the customers' experience or their feedback. To make matters worse, there's almost never any brown paper to clean up after yourself, so you're forced to use dirty equipment. It's unacceptable for a gym to not provide basic hygiene necessities. Also, the gym becomes completely unusable after 3 pm, as it's overrun by underage kids who treat it like a playground. They make it difficult to use any of the equipment, and their lack of supervision is appalling. Overall, this gym is a complete disaster, and I would not recommend it to anyone. Save your money and go somewhere else where you can actually work out in peace without having to deal with broken equipment, lack of hygiene, negligent management, and unsupervised children.

Expérience positive: Would be a 5 if they got 10 pairs of 45lbs plates because they’re never seems to be enough for everyone, and maybe a couple more bars so people stop using bars meant for bench and squats for deadlifts.

Expérience négative: For the price of the gym (now nearly $25 a month for the platinum membership), to CONSTANTLY have 4-7 cable machines out of order when they only have 1 machine for each exercise (other than the 30m section) is ABSOLUTELY unacceptable. They are not fixed in a timely manner and it has been brought up to staff numerous times. The facility is quite small, they are missing a few dumbbells (happens) but staff rarely return them to the racks and literally all of the paper towel dispensers push levers don’t work. 75% of the time none of them have paper-towel to clean machines. Positives: -4 free-barbells to do squats, bench etc -Staff are welcoming and nice -Bathrooms don’t stink -Water is pretty cold and doesn’t taste awful -$25 is still cheaper than some gyms but no longer outweighing broken machines and time I have to spend waiting

Expérience négative: Would NOT recommend going there until they fix all the issues. At night, outside of staffed hours, this place becomes wide-open to people to trespass and mess around, which is likely one of the reasons for the problems mentioned in previous comments, including broken and displaced equipments, dirtiness, as well as people occupying equipments for unreasonable long time. The management needs to seriously consider installing those gates with bars just like econofitness’ other branches in downtown. So that it can better provide values to its customers, not freeloaders!

Expérience négative: This gym seems to be at the end of its lifetime. I had read all the negative reviews and went to visit myself. Seems to me that there is no will from management to keep the place clean. It might be because they don’t have enough staff but this still doesn’t justify that machines have been out of order for weeks (per the reviews from months ago). I understand this is a cheap gym but still doesn’t justify the current conditions of it. I went to the VSL branch and it was in way better shape than this one.

Expérience négative: Do not sign a contract untill and unless you are sure that you want this. This gym is not women friendly, there’s only equipment for men I wished I visited it before signing the contract. So the same day I signed the contract I went to the gym I saw that it’s not what I wanted I asked to cancel the same day it was like 2 hours before signing the contract and the lady told me to cancel the contract I must came back to the gym ( she lied) I went back to the gym and she said I had to pay 30$ + to cancel a contract a signed 2 hours earlier. I said fine cool can I do it online then she told me the truth that I was actually able to do it online , she just made me come to the gym to try to convince me and lose my time. Few weeks after I went online to cancel it I called them to help me with it ( they are called costumer service for a reason) and when I asked him to show me where I could go online to cancel he hung up on me I called back several times they sent me to voice mail. I’m glad I was able to cancel it

Many (approx half) of the weight machines are broken, the racks for the weights are dirty and I had to search the whole gym for 5-10lbs weights as they had not been put back or were missing. The sinks also were dirty.

Expérience négative: I recently subscribed but I have canceled, since the place is very neglected, it is too dirty, the women's toilets are dirty, and I don't know if there is not enough ventilation there but the smell of sweat and everything is very strong there! and there are many people who are at the machines talking on the phone, sending messages or simply doing nothing and they don't let them use the machines!

I can imagine your expenses and the prices are very good but the machines need to be working and maintained . Also on the start trac bikes , 3 of the 6 bikes are missing the height adjustment handles . It’s been like that for quite awhile . Please do your best .

Expérience négative: I would like to update my review based on what you replied here below: If you want to understand what «Impeccable cleanliness» means simply go to toilettes or even stay around the lockers and you might change your description to «NAUSEOUS & DISGUSTING» I have never seen a person cleaning these areas and they are just standing at the desk carelessly just to say hello to people (if they even say that! ). You can hardly find a dumbbell or a barbell at its place (they are all scattered everywhere and nobody cares!). In terms of maintenance and cleanliness: The WORST branch in Quebec. In terms of equipment and spaciousness: The best. Unfortunately the management is so poor and it’s so smelly and dirty everywhere in this gym. Many of the machines are broken and not fully usable. I have to go to the further branches to feel better although this one is 2 min from my apartment. I hope one day they revise the management and maintenance of this gym.

Expérience négative: I don't often write review but I felt the need to warn people (particulars women) about this gym. The location is great if you're in the area, with parking and many bus stops, and the gym itself is nice and spacious. However, it's rarely not completely full and very uncomfortable to work out in. Within the year I worked out there I got approached and stared at weekly by creepy men... That has never happened to me at any other gym. I didn't feel like the staff would even care if I told them. There is no friendliness or even basic politeness amongst member. Also sometimes the gym is dirty and again, the staff doesn't seem to care at all...

So not only is it filthy, but they steal your money even after you’ve cancelled.

And also today April 24th, Is so disrespectful , when unproffitional manager don't let me get in and exercise, as a 5 years long member, why, because I was mixed up Wednesday and Thursday ,which is my membership (weekend), it happened once , he could say OK for this time, but he rejected me , it's not the way to behave with the clients.
