Bienvenue à Fitness World, une salle de sport de premier plan située au centre-ville de Vancouver, au Canada. Notre installation est connue pour son atmosphère conviviale, ses entraîneurs professionnels et sa large gamme d'équipements adaptés à tous les niveaux de condition physique.

Expérience négative: The front desk staff at the Howe Street location clearly couldn't care less about customers, unless they are new clients to be signed up. Basic professionalism, politeness and manners are missing. Using their cell phones and chatting to each other seem to be more important than greetings clients etc.

Expérience négative: [Warning about membership cancellations!] I want to share my experience in case someone encounters the same situation. Fitness World doesn't seem to process membership cancellation properly and continues to charge you. I have been contacting them several times but I have been ignored. My husband and I cancelled our memberships together in August 2024 as we were moving out of Canada. We visited the gym to cancel and received a confirmation email for my membership. Unfortunately, I didn't notice at that time that my husband never received this cancellation confirmation. A week ago, I noticed that they had been charging us (for me and my husband) this whole time. I called the gym, and they told me to contact the manager at [email protected]. I sent the email with my cancellation confirmation. I got no response. I followed up a few days later, and still nothing. I called the gym again, while staff was trying to help me and they said they'd let the manager know, there was still no response. The only email I've received since is about a PRICE INCREASE UPDATE. Now, I'm expected to pay even more to a gym I canceled months ago. I understand mistake can happen, but it is NOT acceptable that they are ignoring the whole situation and continuing to charge us without fixing the problem. I don't know if it is negligence or scam type of stuff. Please double-check your cancellations since this gym does not seem reliable. I really hope this does not happen to anyone else

Expérience positive: I enjoy attending the gym. I wish there was more options of classes early in the morning before work (ie 6:30am- 8:30am). I would like more options of spin classes after work also (after 5pm). The selection of classes is good however the majority of options seem to be scheduled during the hours of 9 to 5 which limits the options for those working 9 to 5pm. Something to consider if you’re working those hours and thinking of joining

Expérience négative: Booked a 3 day trial while I’m here for the month, and a tour. I showed up at the time I signed up for, for my tour, and the staff member apologized that there were no other staff members around and that I would have to give myself a tour. So I walked around a bit awkwardly and they tried to sell me some plans, but they implied I could not actually use the 3 day trial if I’m not a BC Resident and that if I wanted to use the gym today it would cost $15.95. Poor first impressions - I had brought my gym gear and would have been happy to pay the drop in fee if they were more organized and the 3 day trial was less deceptive. (I packed up and left) The gym itself seems well equipped but couches and other pieces of equipment seemed to be falling apart and in need of fixing. This would be a good barebones gym if you’re not looking for anything fancy.

Expérience fantastique: Navid is a knowledgeable, friendly, and supportive personal trainer. He has a background in active rehab, which is helpful for those working with injuries. I have been a member of the gym for well over a year, and lately the staff have been making a bigger effort to build community and better customer service. Much more attention does need to be paid on keeping the gym equipment in rightful places and deodorizing the change rooms/common spaces especially.

They’re incredibly knowledgeable about fitness and they genuinely care about helping you succeed. Expérience positive: I’m very disappointed when Paniz, the pilates instructor made the announcement that she will not be able to teach at Howe location because of her new job. The gym didn’t want to change the class times to accommodate her. She’s the best pilates instructor so far at this gym. Her classes are always challenging and she switches moves to keep it interesting. My favourite classes at this location are Kevin’s core fit classes and Paniz’s Pilates classes

Expérience fantastique: Adrianna is a wonderful trainer who puts up with me often being in a shitty mood and not wanting to work out. She is a real one for that. I WILL SAY THAT THE BUSINESS IS PUSHY AS HELL and will essentially heckle you into paying for more and more training (not Adrianna she is very nice and understanding) but beware, they will continue to try and get you to pay more and more for training sessions or supplements. Be stronger than me and stand your ground if you truly can’t afford it. Guess I’ll be taking out a loan for the sessions I just signed up for………

Expérience négative: I've been visiting this gym for over a year and recently Fitness World has implemented a point reward system. I've accumulated over 400 points which is equivalent to free merch item. I went to the front desk to redeem my points and asked what options are available and barely any were provided. They told me to go to another fitness world and try my luck there. Why would I go out of my way to visit another Fitness World? What if I did that and they didn't have any merch either? No one was helpful. This gym has awful reception and service. If you aren't paying for personal training, you won't get good service.

Expérience fantastique: Fitness World on Howe Street has been a fantastic experience! The gym is clean, well-equipped, and has a welcoming atmosphere. Martina B. at the front desk was super friendly and knowledgeable. She recommended a personal trainer class that was perfectly aligned with my fitness goals, and it made a huge difference in my workout routine. The personal trainer, Shota Yagami, is one of the best trainers at the gym—his expertise and motivational approach really helped push me to the next level. After a tough session, the massage chair was incredibly relaxing and the perfect way to unwind. Highly recommend this gym!

Like any places I suppose. However in my opinion they should not be working as a customer service person. Another honest review. Extremely busy in the evenings on Monday Tuesday Wednesday and Thursdays. So if you like to use a variety equipment I would not recommend if you are on a certain time frame.

As soon as you get a membership with this Gym and they have access to your bank information they randomly charge you extra amounts of money every once in a while in addition to the membership fees and when you go and ask them why they charged you for this amount they simply say these are the policies of the gym. The policies and fees that they never mention when you get your membership and they never get your consent for charging you these amounts. Fitness world is nothing but a scam!

Expérience négative: Honest review - most of the gyms in Vancouver suck. Unfortunately, Fitness World has a bit of a monopoly on this city. This one in particular is small and cramped with older equipment. The good FW's aren't much better. They're all very busy. The demand for bigger and nicer gyms is huge here, however, monopolies such as FW are hindering development. Due to these facts, Fitness World partakes in your typical scummy corporate gym practices such as making it difficult to cancel like having to request the manager and only cancelling in person. Don't be naive - this is all very intentional. It's 2024, WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY to cancel by phone or online. I moved out of province earlier this year and needed to cancel. Imagine my headache. I'm just gonna spew a few things off - the showers are terrible, can't even be bothered to have soap dispensers. No steam room, no sauna. Equipment is hard to find and all over the place. You're going to be on someone's lame instagram feed as FW has yet to ban content creators. As a result, you'll find many equipment-hoggers. The gym is dirty, the AC is weak. The layout is hilariously bad. The staff aren't the most professional in the world, but I don't blame them given how low they're paid. Conclusion: the best thing to happen for the workout community in Vancouver would be for Fitness World to go out of business or be bought out by Planet Fitness or World Gym. I feel so bad for everyone in Vancouver and especially those living downtown who must suffer this great misfortune of shitty gyms.

Expérience négative: I’ve never felt compelled to write a review before, but this experience left me no choice. I attempted to register my membership using the kiosk near the front desk. Although the front desk staff noticed I was using it, they didn’t stop me. After I failed to complete the registration, I asked for help, only to be told that the machine wasn’t working. I couldn’t help but wonder—why didn’t they inform me earlier? To make matters worse, although the staff couldn’t find any of my registration details in their system, I discovered that my credit card had been charged. The staff provided me with an email address to contact their digital support team, but after several emails, I was told they couldn’t help and was directed back to the local gym. The gym then gave me another email address to contact the financial services team for a refund. Despite my efforts, I still haven’t received any resolution. Although I can still go to the gym, I had to explain the situation repeatedly to different staff members each time I visit the gym. This has been the worst customer experience I’ve ever had in Vancouver, and my issue is still unresolved as of this writing. ---Updates Sep 23rd--- They responded kindly to my review, which is ridiculous because Jordan only replies to emails after several weeks. Moreover, their solution was to register me into the new system, but they didn’t address my refund issue.

Expérience positive: I’ve been a member of fitness world pre and post covid. Before it was a joy to train at the downtown (Howe) location and now that I’ve rejoined, the staff and their customer service has declined significantly; nobody looks happy to work here and majority of staff at the front desk have so much attitude that takes away from the experience. I most likely won’t be rejoining once my year membership ends as customer service is very important for me. Giving these stars as the price and gym itself is great.

Expérience négative: Most people I know including myself go to this gym because it's the closest to our homes and it's convenient but it doesn't mean that it is the best gym you can find in downtown. I gotta say equipments are good but It's SUPER CROWDED! Even when I try to avoid rush hours I still have to wait for most of the equipments bench dumbbells .. literally everything. But what's worse is the cleanness imo. This place needs a deep cleaning and ACs that actually work! Especially on the lower floor.

If our AC is not working it is passes along to our maintenance team to fix it asap and have cleaners that come in every night to deep clean. Expérience positive: I’ve been working out since a decade and I’ve never seen a subpar air conditioning system in the gym. Summer time right now is difficult to get a workout in because of lackluster air conditioning. Sweating is crazy in the gym. Before this, I was working out in Kitsilano FW and never had this issue except for 1 day when the power was knocked out. I hope they fix this and turn up the A/C. Another annoyance is not having a mirror in front of the squat rack lol You see people on the sidewalk. I hope they somehow manage a semi transparent mirror at the minimum if not an opaque one. There’s far more variety of equipment here compared to Kitsilano FW. Also not as overcrowded as the former. So love all of that. Staff has not been bad. They do smile and say hi sometimes. Wouldn’t complain if they did this more often. Locker rooms are average. Not that spacious. Overall the experience is okay/average. Can’t complain nor cannot recommend too much. May bump up a star if A/C is fixed.
Expérience négative: Very unprofessional staff, asked them for the receipts for membership for the last two months individually and they declined saying that "ooh we don't do that here" but sadly they almost forgot that few months back one of there CSR gave us the receipts and as I told them this they came up with " we had changed our software that does not allow us to do it " I am like what rubbish are you talking about, clearly they did not wanted to do there job properly, really had a bad experience today and we decided to cancel our membership. PLEASE TRAIN THEM PROPERLY VERY UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF.

Expérience négative: I had been a member here for a few years, I have to say everything was alright until I decided to cancel my membership. The day I cancelled, the staff was not doing a good job explaining that there would be a few more payments. I remember clearly she said just one more payment, and it's done. Since the automatic payment was set up on my old bank account that I already moved the funds out, now because those payments, the bank charged NSF fee and the gym charged me $25 "service fee" as well. Then, when I called them, their staff kept saying, "Oh, that's the policy and how things work," and their manager is never there. I'm very disappointed at this point.
Expérience négative: Unfortunately, there was an issue with their pre-authorized payment system that caused my bank account to incur a fine due to insufficient funds. Despite losing $50 as a result, there was no apparent effort to address the situation. The staff's response was particularly discourteous, dismissing the matter as solely my responsibility with no acknowledgment of their role. Additionally, I was unaware that the seemingly low-cost membership entailed a two-year contract at approximately $40 per month; had I known, I would have refrained from signing up initially. This experience served as a valuable lesson, ultimately resulting in a loss exceeding $400 due to the contract termination with 18 months remaining. Reflecting on the financial aspect, the sum lost pales in comparison to the lack of recognition and appreciation as a member, underscoring the transactional nature of the business. This incident dates back to 2004.

Expérience négative: To be honest, I normally don’t write reviews under restaurants or whatever the businesses are because I know it would definitely make some negative impact on them. But today, remember, please hire people who are willing to work under customer service industry, or get them trained with your standards. TRAIN your front desk staff “Martina” very rude and impolite she actually gets 0 in problem solving skills and has done nothing in costumer service. I can tell she doesn’t like the job, of course most of people don’t enjoy their job these days, but at least she gets paid!
Expérience négative: Machines are a bit outdated. The websites and google maps are literally never updated with the hours during holidays so you check and it says it’s open but it’s really not. And good luck if you’re one to take your pre work out on the way to the gym. Those of you that are not from Vancouver, or you just came back from a trip yesterday.. do not expect to be updated on anything. The gym looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years, old equipment, several times equipment have had out of service on them for a little over a week. Your best bet is to go to an anytime fitness and try to fight to get on some equipment. The phones here are never answered ♂️

Expérience négative: I've been a member of this gym for 8-9 years, and I have to say, the quality has significantly declined. The gym is extremely dirty, with worn-out equipment, and it always smells of sweat. The AC is not working, making it even more unbearable. The locker rooms are filthy, adding to the overall unpleasant experience. Today, I had an especially frustrating encounter when I wanted to bring a guest. The manager, Jordan, told me my membership didn't allow guests and that I needed to upgrade. Before I could even respond, he shoved the card machine in my face, asking me to tap and upgrade my membership. It felt like he was only interested in getting more money out of me. I declined to upgrade, and Jordan then said my guest could pay to drop in. Again, he pushed the machine towards me, asking for $10. It was clear that his main concern was extracting money, not providing good service or maintaining gym standards. I've been loyal to this gym for many years, but this experience has left a bad taste. The gym's poor condition and the manager's attitude are unacceptable. I would not recommend this gym to anyone looking for a clean and welcoming fitness environment.

Expérience fantastique: Clubs pretty much got everything you need for a good price. Signed up and working out in less than 5 minutes, Mathea at the front desk knows her stuff, probably due for a pay raise
Expérience négative: I usually go to the West 12th location but I decided to drop in at this location with my friend to see how it was and safe to say we will not be returning. FIRST red flag was the staff that greeted me; a young lady possibly a teenager who looked as if she had no desire to be working there. I asked if I could get my friend in under the guest pass and she just stared at me blankly without saying anything as if i was speaking an alien language. so I had to sign my friend in myself. SECOND red flag was the stench. Almost everywhere you walked the smell of cigarette smoke followed you. It seemed as if the gym itself was not being maintained for cleanliness either. Most of the gym equipment seemed to be worn out and/or was dirty. THIRD red flag, more of a yellow flag actually, was the layout of the gym: there was no organization to the equipment and many of the weights were misplaced or unavailable, so half my workout was just looking for what I needed. After about 20 minutes of stretching and warming up, me and my friend decided to leave as we were quite dissapointed with the experience :/
Expérience positive: I like the gym but have recently been LOVING the classes . I have gone to quite a few Worx classes and they've been helping me get into great shape . All the instructors have been good but I have to say that Navids classes are the ones I get the absolute best workouts at. He's extremely knowledgeable, motivating , and a great trainer .

Expérience négative: I believe this is not a gym club, it's a scam business, this is my experience with this firm, I signed up in 4th of Feb 2024, this club says they charge their members 22$ per moth, They charged my credit card as below: 1- 4th of Feb 2024 Joining Fee : 71$ 2- 16th of Feb 2024 Monthly fee: 22$ 3- 1st of March 2024 Monthly fee: 22$ 4- 15th March 2024 half monthly fee 11$ (According to their rules I gave them 2 weeks notice to suspend my account for 3 weeks because I'll be out of town) 5- 29th of March Monthly fee?!! 22$ 6- 1st of April 2024 Annual Fee?!! 52.49 $ I went to front desk and asked the ladies who work there to explain these payments to me, they could not explain so asked their manager to come and answer, he came and told me something that I am sure he didn't know what's saying himself! Please notice for only 5 weeks this place has charged me 200.49$ around 40$ per week! The sign they have set up in the side walk which says 9.99s Bi weekly is just a trap, they charged my credit card another 22$ today (12th of April) and when I talked to manager he says because your plan is 22$ Bi weekly, and when I said the girl in front desk did not say this price when I was signing up he doesn't accept it. I canceled my membership.

Expérience fantastique: Natsuki, my personal trainer, is going above and beyond expectations to help me rebuild my muscles. I am so grateful for all of her incredible efforts in helping me achieve my goals.
Expérience positive: I have been going to SteveNash/ Fitness World for the past 5 years. The classes and the devices are good. However there they do not clean or mop the studio floors. Both downtown locations’ studio floors are always stinky and full of big stacks of hair every where. It is so disgusting when you do yoga in these places. I have asked the managers several times these years but THEY DO NOT CARE! One of the receptionists once told me she has seen cleaners vacuuming the other floors but she has never seen they clean the studio!!!! The manager told me it is the air condition that brings hair to the studio!!!! I was astounded by his ignorance! I said how come the air conditioner doesn’t bring hair to the other floors and only the studio? How come the studio floor is so stinky and filled with hair at 8 am?!!! You cannot see the color of the wood floor anymore, that’s how dirty it is everyday!!!!! He finally said that he will ask the instructors to mop the floors before the classes!!! I was WOW!!!!! FITNESS WORLD OWNERS!!!!! The studio floor must be professionally cleaned every day! If this doesn’t get resolved in a month, I will report this to Health Canada or any authority that is responsible for that since you clearly do not comprehend the importance of it.
Expérience négative: I have cancelled my membership November 11th, 2023 and was still getting charged, even after the 30 day notice period. After that, I went in person to talk to the general manager Jordan, who claimed to never have received my cancellation form. After that, he said I would be reimbursed in 5 to 10 business day. That was on January 8th 2024, and I still haven’t been reimbursed. I have sent two emails after that with no response. This place doesn’t support it’s members at all and have no responsible or respect towards people.
Expérience fantastique: We were over from Australia for two weeks and trained at Fitness World several times and absolutely loved it! The equipment was fantastic with a wide selection of machines, the staff were always super friendly and the gym had a great atmosphere. We would definitely train here again!
Expérience fantastique: The staff are super friendly and helpful. The recent addition of two extra racks on the weight floor has significantly reduced wait times, making workouts more efficient. Expérience fantastique: I Have been on this gym for the past 4 years and I love it I take THE WORKS classe and the other classes, they work very well for me, the bathrooms and locker rooms are always clean, the staff is very friendly and always happy to help you, making sure your workout its fun and efficient. I take my daily massage on the massage beds and also a tan once in a while (watch the pics) They have all the necessary machines to make your training the best Very happy with my gym definitely recommended
Expérience négative: They charged me an annual fee even though I cancelled my membership. It’s in their terms but it’s a ripoff! The gym was ok but I never went due to how insanely crowded it was. Very smelly and gross in there with a bad culture, people always dropping their weights and disturbing others. You get what you pay for.
Expérience négative: Do not bother about getting full membership to be able to use the hydro or the chair or the compression as every fitness world does not check if you have that membership they just let you use it. It’s wrong but that’s what is happening. I love the place but two other thing they fail at, it’s very dirty and the washroom are the most dirtiest and in some location they need major upgrade. The other thing some people use their cell phone over a machine and you can not say anything to them and you should not it should be the staff catching that stuff and saying something.
Expérience fantastique: Zoom was very helpful in giving me all the info about getting the most out of my membership. I have been there a few times already and I liked how well equipped the gym was. It can get over-crowded as some other reviews mentioned but I also used to be a member of gyms 2X as expensive and it wasn’t any better there neither. It’s the reality of living in a dense place like downtown Vancouver unfortunately
Expérience positive: From an equipment point of view, the gym is not bad at all, but the absolutely uncontrolled membership selling policy makes it hardly suitable for a comfortable workout – too overcrowded and too stuffy regardless of the day and time. Also, be cautious of the desk staff attempting to sell long-term memberships, which are VERY expensive to cancel, even when you clearly express interest in short-term options.
Expérience négative: Front desk staff is okay for the most part, maybe a little less friendly and welcoming than typical gyms I’m use to as other reviews have pointed out. However there is one front desk staff member (I don’t remember her name, but she is female and maybe middle eastern with blondish/brown hair), who is probably the worst front desk staff member at a gym that I’ve ever seen. She is always on her phone every time I check in or pass by the desk. Never a smile or even a look up from her phone to see who checked in. She has a look on her face that clearly portrays that she doesn’t want to be here. Which is fair, most people don’t enjoy their jobs, but maybe look for other employment? Where you’re not required to interact with other people. I don’t know maybe Fitness World needs to train their staff better to just be more friendly, and acknowledge guests as they come in. As that’s been my experience at every other gym I’ve gone to.
