Expérience négative: One of the most ridiculous and expensive business model to lure students into membership. There are no drop-ins and pay per class method but one is forced ( because there is no other alternative method ) to join into their membership which is almost $32 per class with tax. So after not being able to make it for 3 classes - and paying ~$100, I cancelled my subscription. And you know what , you either dance all the pending classes in the week you cancel - or pay $5 per month to access your own pre - paid classes OR loose your 3 classes and $100. Are we dancers or fools ? The teachers are excellent but no one wants to join a platform which has its enrolment fundamentals Upside-down. Lastly, all your calls will go to voice message - if you are lucky they will return your call but you cannot get hold of anyone instantly in case you are having trouble in signing up for a class? This studio does not offer any pay as you sign up flexibility and economical rates for students who frequents and uses the studio more often than others. I do not understand the logic to be forced in the membership to access your own classes which you have already paid for ? I do not need to pay $5 over and above $32 for one hour of class. Even if I cancelled, I should be able to access my prepaid accumulated classes. Truly ridiculous- stay away from Underground Dance Centre- if you do not want to pile up your unused classes and loose them instantly if you cancel the membership despite you paid for it.

Expérience fantastique: Good prices, great studios, and excellent teachers! I love the variety offered, but I especially love Jazz/Funk with Oleg. He does an amazing job of making dancing accessible yet challenging, so it is a perfect class for a beginner or a seasoned dancer.

Expérience fantastique: Loved taking Jasper's and Brianne's classes! Always a great vibe and they're both very welcoming to beginners. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.

Expérience négative: The price of the classes went up and the quality went down. I've been going to this studio on and off for probably 8 years now. Classes used to be affordable and quality. Even the studio seemed cleaner and warmer. I got locked into the $28 for 4 classes "deal" and had all these class passes accumulating and found myself putting my membership on hold or hold plus just so I can keep them. But the last few times I've been to class the studio would be so cold and some teachers wouldn't provide proper technique in beginner classes, they would jump right to choreo after warm up. They used to even provide you with video footage of the class choreo, they don't do that anymore. There are much better organized studios in the city that won't make you buy into their membership. Check those ones out!

Expérience négative: I had a disappointing experience in Angel Garcia's hip hop class while visiting Toronto. During class, I needed to step out of the my position briefly to text a friend about joining the class (we are all on our dance trip to TO), and she called me out in front of everyone and telling me I’m a distraction. She also wouldn’t let anyone take their water until she allows them to for her “training purpose”. We are not in high school, and I've never had an instructor tell me I couldn't get water or step out. This was the first time I encountered such rudeness. It seemed like she might have some power issues. She needs to get her attitude straighten and have some respect when she’s teaching a class.

Expérience fantastique: Amazing experience 10/10. We tried their private lesson option to learn salsa/bachata and had a blast. The communication to coordinate everything was seamless with Megan. Adri was an amazing instructor. So professional and friendly; a true master at her craft. We learned so much in so little time with her and look forward to joining her classes

Expérience fantastique: The absolute best studio in the city!!!!I have taken classes here for years and I still love going back each week!!! I love going to Luke’s classes . He always brings the energy and makes the classes challenging and fulfilling. So happy I found this space, and have found a place for dancing in my life !! Expérience fantastique: My 12 year old daughter is visiting from The states and wanted to try a dance class so I signed her up to take a Hip Hop class with Luke and a contemporary class with Joey. She loved it so much she wants to go back!

Expérience positive: Had a good experience here. I came as a first time dancer to a beginner class, and felt a little lost as I don't even know the foundations and we jumped right in. Which is better for others looking to get their moneys worth. The owner was also kind enough to provide me with a refund on a week of my subscription I had forgot to cancel and hadn't used.

Expérience fantastique: Many classrooms with different sizes, all clean and with good lighting. The staff was really nice and friendly. They offer different levels and styles of dance, very worth trying out when visiting Toronto. The classroom is in a building with different floors. There were some benches for people to sit, but there wasn't an area where the students can sit and hangout while waiting for or after the class. You're also unable to see the class if you are outside of the classrooms.

Expérience fantastique: I have been to many dance studios in Toronto and Underground Dance Centre is at the top of the list. The dance instructors are talented and make you feel comfortable no matter what expertise you have. If you want to smile, feel great, and learn something new, this is the place to go. Kudos to Shelby in Customer Service who helped me with an account issue. Shelby has superior problem solving skills.

Expérience fantastique: The Underground Dance Studio hosted my Team for a team building activity and it was an amazing experience! Megan was very quick to respond to emails and make accommodations to switch dates and times. Jasper was our dance instructor for our beginner hip hop class. Jasper is a great teacher who is patient, kind and a lot of fun to learn from. I would highly recommended taking a class there.

Expérience fantastique: We've been using Underground Dance for our leadership development workshops. During this last experience, Brianne was an amazing instructor! Full of life and very good at leading the session and teaching. We were able to tap into a lot of what Brianne did as examples of how leaders must shift their approach based on the readiness of their team members. We loved how she blends authenticity and realness with a command of the room and the direction of the session. So good!

Expérience fantastique: I joined at the beginning of this year and after three months I am mad I didn’t sign up sooner! So much fun and a great variety of classes. They are challenging but with every week you get better. Jasmine is a wonderful teacher and her choreography is beautiful. I also really enjoy Mickey’s sense of humor and style of dance. Recently I invited my cousin to come dance with me using a guest pass as we had such a blast. The customer service team helped me organize everything with ease. (Shout out to Shelby!)

Expérience négative: I am so tired of calling you about your customer service payment issues. If you do go here to try a class, be sure to NOT give your credit card. They will keep charging your for months after. That is my experience, right now. They have be charging me for the trial program for months, even though I have called to cancel many times. They clearly have not good customer service here.

Expérience fantastique: I have been taking classes here on an almost daily basis for the past two years and it's honestly been life-changing. I came here with zero experience doing anything remotely creative in my life. Not only did I gain confidence dancing, but I learnt about listening to and feeling the music, using your imagination to perform and perhaps most importantly, I learnt to be patient with myself, tune into what I am feeling in my body, respect myself and set boundaries. I mostly work from home and dance classes are the highlights of my day. Personally I never had any issues with billing. There were occasional mess-ups where I would have a no-show fees for a class I showed up. Shelby is really communicative with her email responses. She always made sure those charges were revoked. Highly recommend classes here. The only thing is the speakers can be quite loud in some classes. I experienced some noise-induced tinnitus... So be careful to not stand too close to them in class.

Expérience fantastique: I love the classes and instructors here! I am an absolute beginner - never danced before in my life but I am obsessed with the classes here. Nina is amazing, her classes are so much fun and she is the most genuine person ever. She is always eager to help you become a better dancer and offering help after class over Instagram if you need it. Deion is also amazing - I was so nervous to try hip-hop because I quite literally have no swag lol. But Deion was extremely thorough and explained everything and offered tips at every point of the way. He is an amazing instructor who is organized and really knows how to teach. Looking forward to trying other instructors. Looking forward to the day they offer drop-in day passes so my friends can come join me!

Expérience négative: Instructors and classes are amazing but their business model is so scammy. They won’t let you attend classes after cancelling membership even if you’ve prepaid. If I pay for January I expect to get all the classes I paid for whether or not I’ve cancelled my membership for the following month.

Expérience fantastique: Favourite studio in the downtown core! This place has a great variety of classes to offer across various styles of dance and most of the instructors are generally enthusiastic, encouraging, and engaging. I do wish they offered true beginner classes for those who do not have previous dance experience but want to learn, as well as technique classes for more styles (e.g. contemporary, jazz) for those who wish to work on these aspects in particular. All in all a fun place to be.

I had an issue with my membership earlier this week, and the Underground customer service handled the issue with a high-level of attentiveness and grace. Shelby Morrison in particular was 10/10 with her help throughout the process. Would highly recommend this studio on all fronts.

Expérience négative: Super expensive and they milk you for your money every chance they get! They don’t have a drop in system so you’ll have to pay about $30 every week and if you cancel the membership all the classes you’ve paid for just disappears. Imagine if you’re in a tight financial situation and just can’t pay that much weekly?! If you put your account on hold they freeze your classes and then guess what? You’ll have to spend more to use the classes you’ve already paid for. I’ve been going to this studio for years and ever since they made this stupid system I have no motivation to go anymore plus the new teachers are super rude and inconsiderate of beginner students. One time I injured my muscles during a heels class and nina completely ignored me. Didn’t ask if I needed help or didn’t slow down to help me catch up AT ALL! I felt so embarrassed. You shouldn’t be teaching if you can’t deal with beginners! On top of the insane money grabbing membership, their late/ cancel policy just doesn’t have any room for understanding. TTC delay? You can’t enter the class. You can’t even control something like that and when you can’t enter the class they won’t return that class back to you so you basically wasted your money

Expérience négative: Money hungry studio, do not fall into their money-grabbing membership trap. They clearly don’t want you to be a long term customer. My friend and I signed up for a trial and my first class got cancelled last minute because the instructor was 25 minutes late. They asked when we’d be restarting our trials, and we both missed the emails. Rather than following up or putting our membership on hold, they just let our membership auto renew. We didn’t notice until we checked reviewed our respective credit cards later. Their trial auto renews, unless you cancel explicitly. I am appalled by how the company managed our trials, we never even experienced a single class.

Expérience fantastique: Been coming here for years doing classes and always had an amazing time! Recently booked the space to host a class of my own and it was amazing. Super clean facilités, easy to use tech, and amazing helpful staff! Will def be back again :)

Expérience négative: This is not a good place of buisness. I signed up for the trial . Payed online for 4 classes 28$ plus tax. And now they’re charging me this amount weekly . I tried calling but they don’t reply. Seems like no one wants to work nowadays. I left a few voice messages and even though they have more than 4 people working in the front desk , no one got back to me. Mind you I’m not the only One I joined with a friend and she’s having the same issue. I live far but I guess the only way is to go there physically. What a sketchy place.

After taking the trial classes I was automatically charged for a weekly 1x week pass which you can cancel the membership but that causes you to lose out on all the passes you paid for (32 per class YIKES!) So for anyone that doesn't know this gets charged for so many weeks, let's say 4 that's 128 down the drain if you want to cancel you membership immediately. Scummy business indeed.

Expérience fantastique: The Underground Dance Centre is indeed the best dance studio in Toronto!! Before going for the first time I read the reviews and I saw everyone was saying the same and I've confirmed it. I have been in classes of different styles and all of them were AMAZING! All the coaches do what they do with passion and are patient teaching each move to create a positive experience for everyone. Oleg is the best, each class is super fun. Every time I leave the studio I do it feeling empowered and inspired and my favorite day of the week is when I go to Underground. Also, Shelby from the Customer Experience team is very helpful and kind. She replies very fast and always answers my questions. I would give more stars if I could.

Expérience fantastique: Did a private dance class at Underground for a friend's birthday and had a really great experience! The customer service when booking and upon arrival was quick, friendly, and efficient. Our dance instructor (Tyler Yan) was fantastic and the space was lovely, highly recommend The Penthouse! Overall, would definitely go back for drop in classes and consider another private class for a birthday/bachelorette/something fun.

I still stand on the fact that it was confusing and why it can be seen as misleading because the weekly charges aren't advertised as largely as the promotion. If you're unsure, please don't do what I did and be surprised by charges on your card weeks later, CALL FIRST ! I've updated to 4 stars mainly because her customer service was amazing, she sorted everything out for me and I'll now be able to take the classes I had already paid for. I honestly would have continued had I known everything upfront but now I'm relieved and excited I actually can attend. Will update after classes. Original review: Beware, the promotion is not what it seems. You're only allowed ONE class a week and you're still charged $30 PER week so the whole "oh its only $28 for 4 classes" is bull bc you're only ALLOWED 1 per week so at the end for that "$28" trial, you're really paying well above. Not to mention, you have to pay to pause your membership lol.

Expérience négative: I am writing to express my disappointment with the safety issues that I have experienced during my time at your studio. As a student, I expect to feel safe and comfortable during my classes, but unfortunately, this has not been the case. During my heels dance class on Apr.29, I fell hard due to a slippery section of the floor while walking towards my locker in the classroom. Despite the floor not being wet, it was very slippery, causing me to fall and experience significant pain in my hands and the bones above my buttocks. I reported this incident to your staff immediately, but I have yet to receive any explanation or reply from your studio after two days. This lack of response has left me feeling frustrated and concerned, as I believe that the safety of students should always come first, especially in a class like heels dance. As a paying student, I believe that safety should be a top priority in any dance class. It is extremely concerning to see that your studio does not place any importance on the safety and well-being of its students. The no-response that I have received is not only unprofessional but also shows a lack of care towards your customers. I am deeply disappointed by the overall lack of safety and disregard for the safety of students in your studio. It is unacceptable to have safety issues go unaddressed and to have no follow-up or response from your staff. I hope that you will take immediate action to rectify these concerns and prioritize the safety of your students. I am also disappointed that I have to resort to writing this review, but I feel that it is necessary to bring attention to this matter. I hope that your studio takes this issue seriously and takes immediate action to ensure the safety of all students.

Expérience négative: Don’t take any Freestyle Development class if you had no experience at first because the guy who taught, “Keith”, was pretty lazy and all he did was show you some moves and told you to play with the music by yourself. I could do the same by watching YouTube, not to pay $28 for 1 class

Expérience fantastique: Most fun class I’ve been to yet! Way better than a HIIT workout for sure. Great instruction and choreography. So satisfying to master a section of choreography to great music every time!

Expérience négative: Horrible customer service and customer management. Would not recommend signing up for a membership. Not at all student friendly or transparent in regards to charges! I contacted customer service beforehand to confirm that I would not be charged twice for their trial membership. I was assured I would not be, but still I was. When I contacted Shelby at customer service, I was told "all sales are final" regardless. They seem to be incredibly unreasonable and comfortable with how misleading their policies are.

Expérience fantastique: Class sizes are appropriate, starts on time, ends on time.Instructors (especially Kaleela!! love her so much) break down moves and explain in different way for students, while also paying attention to performing. Not just doing the movements. Overall, honestly the best studio. Worth the money, worth the commute downtown.

Expérience négative: Oleg the instructor asked me to step to the back when a girl stole my spot on the floor when I went to grab my water bottle. If you wanted to be in the front, you should've arrived earlier than me. If she asked politely, I would've switched with her. Based on how much the instructor and she were chatting, it was obvious that they had a friendly relationship. So he backed her up. It's so unprofessional of Oleg. That ruined the whole experience for me. Also beware that some classes are so packed that you can't jump or turn without hitting someone.

Expérience fantastique: Just over a years ago or so I was experienced a crisis where I realized I always wanted to dance but never did. I was very nervous when signing up for my first dance lesson at The Underground Dance Centre, but was greeted by nonjudgmental teachers who push you to challenge yourself, kind front desk staff that remember my name when I come in, excellent customer support over email and a wide range of different styles of dance. If you were to have told that frightened girl who had never stepped foot into a studio before that she'd be attending 3-5 dance classes per week regularly, she probably would have laughed you off but here I am. Thank you The Underground Dance Centre for being my home away from home.

Expérience négative: Do NOT do a free trial online. It says you have 7 days to cancel and you don't. They will charge your card and lie about when you cancel and steal your money. The staff is nice but only cares about money not about customer service. I do NOT recommend this company. Watch your bank accounts people! They are scammers. Such a big facility in the area with much to offer. Too bad the customer service was not better. Do NOT trust what this company advertises. There advertising is very misleading. Very sad such that such a big company feels the need to steal from people.

Expérience fantastique: Absolutely amazing organization, facility and staff. Big shout out to Shelby and her team for a wonderful customer management experience. I was left in awe with the amount of courtesy and attention they gave to me; this especially offline (rare to see these days). Took my first class here for dance EVER and the instructor Ocean had a deep groove, love for her art and poise while teaching. She made it easy to understand and I felt so motivated. Kudos to her and the staff. Definitely give this place a look if you’re interested in learning to dance!

Expérience fantastique: It is very easy to navigate the app and set up your schedule. They let you know in advance if a class is canceled last minute. The studios are really clean and the stuff is nice. All the dance classes I’ve taken so far had amazing instructors. I also brought my friend to classes. Can’t wait to keep dancing in the new year! :)

Expérience fantastique: Love coming to underground. The staff and teachers are wonderful, studios are spacious & well lit and there are so many classes to choose from. Extremely appreciative of the customer service and fast responses by Shelby when handling my membership management.

Expérience fantastique: Getting back into dance after 10 years+ away from the studio... a couple weeks ago thanks to Kristine Brillantes, she welcomed be back to life! I was disappointed to not find her on the regular roster list, please have her as a regular teacher she's brilliant

Expérience fantastique: I always have the best time at this dance studio! It was also very easy to book a private dance class. I’ve taken classes with Teniya and Nina and they are both so great! And i’m sure everyone else there is great too

Expérience fantastique: I went there once before the pandemic and my experience was amazing. It was very affordable and there are so many choices. I literally would love to stay there and take Evey single dancer. The choreographer was very helpful. They go above and beyond. I can't wait to go back and learn different types of dance.

Expérience négative: Do not come here if you’re visiting. They do not have a drop in rate and only offer weekly memberships. I paid $32 for one class. They can’t cancel it for you in person even though I asked. They charged me 6 days later for another week. Another $32 after tax. I ended up paying $64 for one class. I emailed to get a refund and they told me they could save the classes. I was in town for less than a day and told them that endlessly but was forced to sign up for the membership. I had already made my way to the studio at this point. I wish they had been more understanding in general. Bad business.

Expérience fantastique: Fantastic customer service, Shelby is amazing as is the staff at the location. The packages available are fairly priced, great selection of classes on a daily basis.

Expérience négative: Most of the studios don’t have sufficient fans—just these tiny air purifier machines that do nothing. The grande studios are disgustingly hot—the air is literally WET. Its like hot yoga except you’re doing intense cardio. I almost fainted last class. Its like stepping into a bath of bacteria, which is concerning during a pandemic. They finally added a fan, but just one and it’s a very large room so it doesn’t cut it.I can’t believe they let people dance in these conditions.

Expérience fantastique: Amazing teachers and super friendly staff! Everyone truly loves to dance and have fun here. There are tons of studios and a huge variety of different classes, with so many different time slots to choose from. The booking system is very user friendly and the location is great too! Can’t recommend it highly enough!
