Expérience positive: Good gym but needs renovation, I can tell this gym is very old and run down. Most machines are just functioning at the bare minimum. Would be an amazing gym if they renovated/update it

Expérience négative: I attended this gym between August-September 2020, and I canceled my membership in person. They had a$1 enrollment, no commitment going on. Fast forward to 2024 I received a call from a creditor agency saying that I have an unpaid collection from World gym , I never got a letter about this unpaid payment no calls anything, and it's now a collections on my credit report trying to contact the gym and cannot get ahold of them.. if you have my phone number, why would you not call and say xyz?? Needless to say. Do not come to this gym because I don't know what scam this gym is running

Expérience négative: Scam! Be careful! Even if you choose a 1-year commitment, you can't simply cancel at the end of the term. You're still required to give a 2-month notice, which means you'll be billed for those extra 2 months, along with an additional $49 maintenance fee for the following year. They wont mention it before joing.. Please carefully check the image below, the read marked area. I’ve never experienced this kind of setup at any other gym—they are robbing your money.

Expérience négative: Don’t know how this gym is still open. Half the machines are out of service, locker rooms have cockroaches everywhere and the random charges are never ending. Avoid at all costs.

Expérience fantastique: This is one of the best gyms in Toronto, with employees who are exceptionally helpful, responsive, and consistently professional in their interactions. I highly recommend that anyone in the area give it a try, as I am confident they will be impressed. I also commend the management for fostering such a supportive environment for its members.

Expérience négative: Putting aside issues with the Gym, the manager of this gym (who apparently is the son of the owner) is entirely incompetent. I signed up to a one-year contract with this gym informing them at the time that I would be gone overseas for six months and would need to freeze my account. The lady at the front who I was dealing with informed me they would only do it for four months. That's still two months I pay for nothing. Given that their one-year contract was their best deal, I still went ahead with it. Two months later when it was time for me to go overseas, I enter the gym informing the man in front (who was the manager) that I came to freeze my account. Lo and behold, I was informed that the option was no longer available because I was under a one-year contract! I informed him that I was specifically told that I had a four-month freeze option. He responded by asking me which one of the staff told me that. I informed him it was a lady but he wanted more details since they have four ladies working at the place. This was completely unnecessarily since it's on you, the manager to train your staff appropriately. I don't care about the past as a customer, I care about what will be done now and into the future (as I told him). He informed me I would save money if I cancel the membership but there would be a cancellation fee of over a $100.00. I found this ridiculous. I was essentially lied to and there was no solution being provided, neither was there an attempt. I had signed for a year contract which meant at the very least I was there for a year but this manager suggested I cancel after two months? In two months time, I paid the gym $300.00 with the entry and cancellation fee--that's $150.00 for each month. I asked this manager how is this fair? He suggested maybe I could rejoin and keep the membership going (after he had taken my money for the cancellation) for these six months and when I return for about a month (or two) he would give me a VIP membership! This was also ridiculous; his solution was simply for me to keep paying and get a few unnecessary extras for a limited time! Promotions are easily offered when there needs to be for sales, but keeping a customer happy is not good enough for the Gym to keep their word, or to offer an alternative that actually helps. The manager said he isn't allowed to offer me anything because he doesn't have the authority since everything comes down to him from the regional manager. Frankly, this was complete nonsense. I informed him, he should at least try to speak to his "higher ups" about the scenario and contact me with some sort of a solution. He informed me he can't, but "thank you for the feedback" and with a smile in the end told me he hopes to see me back after six months. I never went to an establishment who makes the customer pay for the mistake of the establishment and who refuses to even tolerate the idea of a solution to the problem presented to him. This guy is something else, and it turns out that there was no regional manager and that the owner is actually the manager's dad (according to credible sources who have worked there or been there long enough)! What a mess. Avoid the gym if you have other options, please.

Expérience positive: Came by the gym Monday morning at 2am as the website said it was open. Please adjust your website. Just a little disappointed.

Expérience négative: Scam of a gym, just want to steal your money, cancellation policy makes no sense, if I want to cancel I have to still get charged. Switched all my info over from express fitness without any permission after express fitness closed down, not sure how legal that is.

Expérience positive: I used to go to this gym 2016 - 2023 before I cancelled my membership to switch to another gym and switching to another gym has been the best decision ever. World gym has too many bullies who spread lies about me saying “fake” when I’m not,never was & never will be. Every time I leave the gym there would be random people saying things like “not real” & “fake” out their car window & I don’t even know who they are and they don’t know me at all… I never did anything to them,never said anything wrong & never was like anything but the only time I say something is when I stand up for myself (without being like them) and they take it the wrong way because they’re less educated on bullying. Them calling me that has never been offensive and it never will be. I don’t let their false assumptions get to me. Those people who don’t know me who call me “fake” will always go out the other ear. This is why everytime, whenever I’m in public I always have headphones or AirPods to play music loud enough to not hear them and having them on works because I don’t hear the lies they try to tell me but overall it was a good gym besides those lying bullies.

Expérience positive: been working out for a while in this gym,machines still cab be used,and with multiple cable crossings equipments which more friendly in a busy day and reasonable,Usually you don't need to wait for too long(in this point,it's better than plan*t). since most of the machines really need to upgrade and some are only need to lubricate and change the layer would be getting better again!!!! So hopefully the owner would take the upgrading on the plan and take more reactions for the maintenance, gymer will be much appreciated. Also making some improvements in small steps would be much better,such as providing elastic bands in wall hanging area,make sure the yoga mat also hanging to wall instead of just lay them in the floor......Bathroom faucet is against humanity(I know that would be the stone hole cutting too close to the back but it's better using the taller faucet)otherwise everywhere would be full of water!! After all,small improvements,machines upgrading and maintaining are urgent to make steps. Will keep running here with expectations.

Expérience négative: The gym needs to be updated, and provide more cleaning solution to wipe down the machines. My contract will be up in December and I will be leaving. The price is cheap, but you don't get much in return. Plus the equipment is old. Too much socializing and people "holding" multiple machines for themselves. Very annoying especially first thing in the morning. Plus the early morning staff member is not friendly or helpful.

Expérience positive: A lot of broken equipment. Sanitizing bottles are empty often or don't work, and people take it with them sometimes. Paper towels aren't always present. AC isn't cold enough. Men's Washroom smells bad, probably never cleaned. Edit: broken equipment gets fixed up faster now. Washroom still smells sometimes tho.

Expérience fantastique: It's a top notch gym with pretty good equipment, super helpful staff and more than enough space, even when it's busy. They maintain this place fairly well and have a couple of additional amenities like sauna, basketball court etc that's more than decent too. The staff at the front though is super supportive and friendly, not to mention always available to sort through any and all issues. Highly recommend this place!!!

Expérience négative: DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM WHATSOEVER! If I were to write down every single thing wrong with this place, it would be less of a review and more of an essay. First let's start with the gym itself. You're going to find that a lot of the equipment is poorly managed, benches are torn up, pull down machines are rusted and broken. Heck when I was going, it was not uncommon to see a "in repair" sign plastered over the equipment. Whether you're trying to find the matching dumbells or realizing people have made off with your barbell when you weren't looking, another neat feature is the fact that the pull over/cable row machines don't the weights listed on them. Maybe for the advanced gym goer this will not be a problem, but I imagine for the novices this will be a struggle. The bathroom is wretched; don't take my word for it, you can see the pictures in other reviews. I can't fathom how such a giant gym can't afford to do a simple maintainence check on their washrooms every now and then. I've trained in smaller, cramped gyms that seemed to take better care of themselves. Of course if you're like me, you might be thinking to yourself, 'so what? So it's a little dirty and broken. I'm here to train, and if it's cheap then all the better.' Except it isn't. The head manager is your typical slimeball salesman, good at getting you to buy stuff, not so good when you want to see him to complain or raise an issue about. Then magically he's nowhere to be found. The membership has a 100 CAD cancellation fee by the way. Real lovely stuff. I took a one year membership, but a couple months in I aggravated an injury and also moved far away. Oh well, just wait out the membership and learn my lesson right? Except it's not so simple. What this fine establishment neglects to tell you (and this is where they get you with that 'fine print meh' Nonsense) is that they will continually auto renew your membership and take your money. I called in June and asked them to stop my membership, and they still insisted that I had to pay some sort of fee of 30 cad to do so. Already this was incredibly scummy behaviour, ON top of the fact that I had to travel 2 HOURS to be there in person just to confirm that I'm not going to renew my membership. I have never seen a gym with a utterly backwards setup like this. But I corporated with this charade. The lady on the phone said to show up on July 7. I had work so I turned up on 9th. But turns out it didn't even matter. The lady at the front said that payment was already renewed and that I would have to now pay over 60 cad. You can imagine what happened next. I saw the manager in the room infront me. I asked to speak to him. She told me he was in a meeting. I swear you only hear that kind of excuses in movies. All I could do was just deplore this horrible system to the lady at the front who, to her credit, seemed understanding of the fact that this whole situation was not correct. To say I was seething is an understatement. Never in a million have come across a gym that charges both at the start and end of your membership. Bravo really, truly when you think people can't any lower. So yeah, don't go here. For your moneys sake. I know it's hard to find an affordable gym in Scarbourgh, but taking into account how much this place steals from you it's not that different from the other pricier gyms.

Expérience positive: I've chosen this gym bcs they have women only area but it needs some improvement some of the equipment are out of service for months and they don't have any machines for abs neither a private changing room upstairs, plus they are closed at 8pm on the weekends which most of ppl have time only on weekends other than that it's clean quite and the main area is big and nice

The management is unprofessional and the locker rooms are terrible and in desperate need of proper ventilation. Broken equipment takes over a year to be fixed, no matter how many times you ask. I’ve been trying to cancel my membership for a long time but due to being extremely busy have not had the chance to go in person. Apparently that is the only way that they can cancel it. I said I was going to do it last week but got tied up with work and school. They make it almost impossible to cancel your membership. Even if I have to take a day off to cancel my membership I’m going to get it done this coming week. Do not join this gym. Their prices are fairly low but a true reflection of the type of place it is. You indeed get what you pay for. I highly recommend if you’re serious about your health and fitness that you spend the extra money and go to a place which values you as a member.

Avoid this gym, you can find a better one with almost the same amenities and price.

The staff are beyond incompetent, with a manager who seems to be on a perpetual roid rage rampage. He refused to even provide his name, which speaks volumes about the level of professionalism here. This man's testosterone levels are off the charts, and it's clear he needs to lay off the steroids and take a serious chill pill. But it doesn't stop there. This establishment is rife with scams and deception. They charged my friend double the advertised rate for a day pass and then had the audacity to cancel my membership when I called them out on their shady practices. Not only that, but they still had the nerve to charge me for the entire month even though they terminated my membership. It's clear that the staff are nothing more than mindless puppets, dancing to the manager's erratic and abusive tune. Save yourself the headache and stay far, far away from this den of incompetence and deceit. World Gym is a cesspool of roid rage and scam artists, and you'd be better off burning your money than giving it to them.

Expérience positive: Everything else is fine in gym. Only thing which sucks is gym closes midnight on Friday and on weekends it opens from 8am to 8pm. This needs to be changed.

The staff are horrible manager is a straight tweaker wouldn’t even give me his name, his testosterone levels are through the roof and needs to chill off the roids. The manager was nothing but disrespectful to not just me but a lot of others at the gym. There’s proof of this as well. They scammed me as well. Charged my friend 10$ for day pass for the gym when it’s 5$ and when questioned about it they cancelled my membership and still charged me for the month. The staff are just the managers little puppets who he bosses around. Manager needs chill out he got too much roid rage.

Despite reaching out via email, there's been no acknowledgment. Even their staff members are unable to contact them internally. When I tried explaining the situation to a front desk employee on January 13th, Saturday evening, the response was beyond rude, and they even hung up the phone. This level of customer service is unacceptable.

Expérience fantastique: I been here for 5 years, the community and the service of world gym is outstanding. The best gym in Scarborough in terms of bang for your buck, and with all its facility equipment.

Expérience négative: Been going here for years ever since the gym opened. I got grandfathered into the $10/month (now it’s $50/month) but decided to leave for a gym more expensive. Issues: - Cable Machines, bench seats are broken - Bugs on the floor, very dusty & dirty - Paper towels run out & 1 or 0 sanitizer bottles - Multiple treadmills & stair-master machines always broken - Basketball nets are broken, brown & ugly - People smell at the gym. Very bad body odour - Men’s washroom had 1 soap dispenser (used to have 2, other one broke) - The 1 soap dispenser doesn’t have soap - The sink taps turned off are so close to the sink wall (your hand gets dirty again) - Men’s washroom sink always has hair, sputum & snot in the sink - When they had towel service, we would get white towels that are brown & black - When they had sanitizer bottles upon entering, when there was none available. As soon as a member leaves & drops off their bottle they would just move it to the other table without cleaning the bottle INFECTION WARNING: Pre-Covid I did scrap my shin on the base platform for jumping. I asked the front desk for a first aid kit. They didn’t have one at the time. They told me to clean my shin with water or sanitizer bottle. I eventually got infected & swollen leg requiring IV antibiotics for 7 days. This place is poorly maintained, very dirty, broken equipment & smells very bad. Venue to downhill after multiple management changes & the real personal trainers all left. This World Gym needs to close down & go bankrupt. Turn this place into a coffee spot or something more useful people of Scarborough can utilize.

Expérience négative: PROS: Affordable, Plenty of room, equipment is generally free, good perks for VIP members, CONS: Dirty, Missing weight values on cable machines, closes basketball gym earlier than scheduled, weights are not organized. I have been a member for over a year, and overall I give this gym a 4/10. I would give a much higher rating if it was clean. The showers are disgusting, staff do not clean machines, the basketball nets have so much dust as if they have never been cleaned. They have used COVID to force cleaning upon members, and neglect basic standards - the yearly cleaning fee goes directly to their pockets. The weights are also very disorganized, and yet again force the responsibility upon members and do not take it upon themselves to fix it when necessary. Do not expect much from the staff, as most of the time they are sitting on their phones/computers or walking around. If they did the basic work of cleaning and organizing the equipment, this would be one of the best gyms in the city.

Expérience fantastique: It was like 90% men when I went there so I’m glad there’s a separate space for women (one of the better gyms for women’s spaces!). The poor reviews are likely due to payment issues which is why I got a one-time payment package but the gym itself does the job and it’s not just cardio machines.

They have hidden fees they don't tell you about and often make mistakes with withdrawing money from your account so make sure to double check . They told me after one year membership cancelation would be free only to find out I have to pay 67 dollars to cancel 2. The women's section lacks alot of lighter weights and machines. So I end up having to get weights from downstairs and wait a long time for 2 out of the 4 working treadmills 3. Air flow could be improved 4. Wifi sucks. Better to use the wifi from the store next door 5. No mirror in one of upstairs women section room and no full length mirror to see form 6. Lack of sanitation bottles

Expérience négative: Terrible gym. Management is never there including week days to resolve issues. I came in on a Thursday at 3pm to resolve a billing issue and was told management had to be there for them to do anything… also you need to give 60 days notice for a cancellation.. I was billed late fees for months without the gym notifying me despite the fact that my credit card has no issues on my end. And when I spoke to someone at the front desk about it they said they had no idea and they couldn’t help me. It’s a sneaky gym that will gouge you for anything they can. If you don’t stay ontop of payments they’ll start billing you for no reason with no explanation until you catch. This place is borderline criminal.

Expérience négative: As someone who's been to world gym scarborough a couple of years I have a few things to say, now that I found an alternative to world gym. The Bad 1) The place is dirty half the time and infested with roaches, don't use the sauna. 2) There's an employee who believes they own the place, and yes I am aware who the actual owner is. 3) Most of the time some equipment is old or broken. Remember your tetnis shot. 4) I don't see why the staff needs to be concerned about what cars I drive going as far as to touching them without my permission. Really baffling this one 5) This is more on you guys needing to LEARN TO READ, but yeah the contract is predatory, it's ment to run you down if you're not aware. Now the good 1) staff in general is really nice 2) there's a lot of space 3) equipment may not be great but there is variety 4) it's a pretty good crowd of gym goers, the actual community is great 5) it seems cheap but it's actually not the best deal, you're getting what you paid for

Expérience négative: WORST GYM IN ALL OVER CANADA ( SCAMMER ALERT ) I will tell you about my story I made gym membership around 2019 and only played for a few months and went back to own country to attend my bro’s funeral in 2020 and I couldn’t come back to Canada because of Covid issues. I called them to cancel membership but the gym was closed for years during covid and I can’t cancel through the phone as well. Now I came back to canada at the end of 2022 and moved to another city but now they are charging me $700. WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY THIS AMOUNT OF MONEY I DONT EVEN USE FOR A LONG TIME. Expérience négative: *****UPDATE***** To add to the issues below please note that I had to file a POLICE REPORT due to another person THREATENING ME WITH A WEIGHT. The manager never called me back and never investigated the threat. Absolutely a horrible place to waste your money. I will be checking my account as it is noted below that they steal from your account. Should this be the case I will be claiming fraud at the bank as I will not waste my time with these people. Honestly, the largest issue is the sanitization and the lack of customer service skills. Bottles of sanitizer are for individuals instead of communally shared thus if they run out you have nothing to clean machines. This leaves an already neglected women’s only area to be quite grimy (no one can clean if they don’t get a bottle). When I kindly asked two separate employees to speak to a manager about the poor efficiency and unhygienic practice, I was met with much hostility and was told many times over that this is what is done. Not only is it a poor excuse but it has no logic to it whatsoever. It also leaves it up to the customer to go around and ask others to use their bottle… this would be avoided with a communal bottle located on the paper towel stations. Btw, there was one bottle for taking on the table as 3 more people walked in. Imagine how many people do not have access to cleaning solution to make sure this place is safe for others. It takes nothing to offer condolences for an experience and advise the customer that their suggestions will be forwarded to the appropriate party. I will be cancelling as soon as my term is over.

Expérience positive: It's an above okay gym, only because it gets the job done. Readjusting machines can be a pretty janky, some machine seats are on their last thread, and service maintenance on broken machines can take a while. Smaller weights are difficult to find because they are often misplaced which, isn't the gym's fault but stricter weight(s) returning rules should be applied. Cleanliness is alright. There aren't a crazy ton of gym options in Scarborough but if you're a low maintenance person, world gym should do

Expérience négative: They will always be available when you need to sign up but try cancelling with them and see how difficult it is. During the pandemic they wouldn't let me cancel my account over the phone (even though I was willing to authenticate my membership in any way). Once they weren't able to collect the $20 they tried to bill me for $1200, than sent it to collections. I have a another membership with another gym that doesn't play these games. If you sign up here, do it with EXTREME CAUTION.

I paid my full year membership fee and told that person on the counter to close my account that after that I don’t want to renew Still, they are doing sending me the email for the pending amount after three months I try to resolve this issue. I went the store three times. Personally, I call to time personally that is no responsible person on the counter. There doesn’t know about this thing and then never reply on that. They are doing harassing me I told him I am moving from Scarborough to other city. I’m not able to come in this location.

Expérience fantastique: Been coming here for years and honestly such a solid place to train. Group fitness classes, lots of platforms and racks for powerlifting/Olympic lifting, personal trainers, smoothie bar and even a decent size court for basketball runs! 24 hours thru the week is also a plus

When you sign up, they may tell you that you have the flexibility to downgrade your membership plan. However, this is not entirely true. If you want to change your membership plan, you'll have to cancel your current membership and then reenroll, which means you'll lose your annual fee. Additionally, I initially gave this gym a positive review, but I spoke too soon. They kept charging me late fees because their system is flawed. I've had enough and decided to switch to Fit For Less. My advice is to steer clear of this gym and definitely do not sign a contract. It's been a month, and I would rather lose the money and cancel than deal with the incompetence of this place's staff. I completely regret signing up

In addition, the gym's equipment is often out of order, and it's difficult to find a clean piece of equipment to use.

Expérience négative: Hey guys, I would like to share the scam world gym staff particularly the builder manager. When I joined the gym told them specifically that I want no commitment membership and I won’t be reg as it will be my substitute gym. The scammers staff enrolled me in a contract and asked me to pay the price we have not discussed and when I went to cancel the membership they said you have to pay a cancellation fees of $200. Please guys do not go to this gym they will enroll you in a different membership to get money from you. Make sure you read all documents they send you please do not fall for their trap they know exactly how to scam people.

Expérience positive: Started attending this gym for almost 2 months now. It’s very spacious and has more than enough similar exercise machines to have you not waiting too long if someone’s using it. It seems to be pretty busy after working hours until about 10pm. Other than that, it doesn’t take me too long to get in there to get a great workout and then get out. It’s nice to see many regulars in there as well who are serious about working out.

Expérience fantastique: The best gym in Scarborough, ON,Canada. Also well reasonably priced. Very clean environment. Highly trained staff. Good customer service. Well serviced and new equipments. Plus the sauna is a bonus. There is a separate place for women. Also, a basket ball court. Plenty of parking space. Open 24 hours Mon to Fri, and 8am to 8pm on the weekends and stat holidays makes it convenient. Front desk staff is very customer oriented. 5/5.

Expérience fantastique: Tried this gym out since it’s in a pretty convenient location. Really spacious area with lots of equipment options. Management is also very friendly! Brij is super approachable and really helpful when you have any questions or concerns. Definitely recommend this gym!

Expérience négative: DO NOT GO. This gym is probably one of the worst gyms I have ever gone too. Not only that, they don't update any of their members regarding any hour changes through the pandemic. Nor do they contact members if anything is happening with billing. The manager is very rude and their system is outdated. Their system is specifically preying on people to set up pre-paid plans, but have no set preparations to call or email to update members. Staff don't care to even spell name or address properly either. Staff don't do a lot of work, legit just sitting and talking at the front. Worst gym in Toronto. Not bashing on the lady that cleans up, she is the only actual working member. She needs a raise and a better place to work at.

First she was on her phone and then I asked her to make me a smoothie and she gave me a lot of unnecessary attitude and didn't even make the smoothie properly. I had a friend who worked at world gym and he and his coworkers quit because he knew world gym is scamming people. Very terrible gym, I would rate this 0 stars if I could. The price may seem low but trust me your gonna end up paying more then la fitness with all their hidden charges. DONT GO HERE TRUST ME

Expérience positive: Great gym. You can bring a friend if you have VIP membership. Many different machines and dumbbells. Staff were super friendly! The only Downside is.. the pulley machines are old and need to be replaced.

Expérience fantastique: I've currently been going to this gym for 8 years and absolutely love it. There is a separate woman's area I enjoy and the flexibility with my schedule because it operates 24hrs most days. The price is amazing as well the staff. The gym is clean and well kept. I use the tanning bed, sauna and massage beds are all bonuses with my VIP membership. Defiantly recommended it!

Expérience négative: This gym membership look a like a good deal, but be careful. They set a trap for you how to withdraw more money from you. They withdraw extra money ever 6 months as Maintainance fee which they don’t tell you when you sign up. They were withdrawing the monthly fee from my credit card for my wife membership. I canceled my credit card because it was lost. I forgot to notify the gym. After 6 or 7 months they stopped my wife when she was going for work out and told her that she didn’t pay the monthly fee for last 6 months. She said ok, I will pay now, no problem it is just $66, They said, it is it $276, They further explained, $11 monthly fee plus $35/month none sufficient fund charge. They said they couldn’t withdraw money from my credit card in last 6 months. I also talked to them and asked them that why didn’t they notify her if they couldn’t withdraw the fee. They simply said it is not their responsibility. First, I have never heard any company will charge a none sufficient fee for a Credit Card. Second, they should have notified us the first time the withdrawal didn’t go through, As a gesture of good customer service and curtesy to your members, you should notify your members if you have their contact info. The matter of fact is that you set up a trap for your members, how to get more money from them.

Expérience fantastique: There are always very polite and very helpful staff at this location. The gym is always very clean and there are a large variety of equipments. The changing rooms and washrooms are also clean.

Expérience fantastique: Facilities are outstanding. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. Covid guidelines are followed perfectly. Overall a great experience! We were welcomed by Foram Patel at the front desk. She’s an amazing worker and has always treated up politely and with a great smile
