Expérience fantastique: I have had the pleasure of working with Carolyn since August of 2023. Before seeing her, I was working to regain my fitness after a brief illness. Being a runner who only ran and was often injured, I decided to compliment my return back to running with a dedicated strength program. I was immediately impressed upon meeting Carolyn with how she quickly identified where my weaknesses were and how we could work together. It's been a wonderful experience so far! Carolyn creates a warm and welcoming environment and her attention to her clients is second to none. She is extremely knowledgeable and builds a client-centric program that is confidence boosting and leads to results. I have gained strength in my back, glutes and hips. Something as small as pointing my right toes which was once impossible, is now possible and many parts of my body are now pain free. I look forward to continuing to work with her and encourage anyone, at any age, shape or condition to work with her and be prepared to be impressed!

Expérience fantastique: I love working with Carolyn. Her attention to detail is truly unmatched. She will make you do a seemingly little tweak in the way you do an exercise and it will make all the difference. I am constantly amazed at how much better my body works after Carolyn corrects my form. Also, if you want to see results quickly - Carolyn is your go to.

Expérience fantastique: I sought Carolyn out for personal training because I had lost so much strength and fitness after years of caring for my small kids and basically being inactive. I didn't know how to safely get myself strong again.  Her expertise, care, and attention to detail has me seeing results in only a few weeks!  She is so knowledgeable and helpful.  I am surprised by how training with the right alignment and with the right exercises have resulted in gains in such a short time. I don't have to work out as often, because I am working hard with her.  I would recommend Carolyn to anyone interested in getting strong without injury!!

Expérience fantastique: I have been working with Carolyn for approximately 5 years. I find her to be knowledgeable, approachable, compassionate and honest. Her understanding of how our bodies work and how they need to work has helped to increase my strength but more importantly has helped me with mobility and has reduced aches and pains I was beginning to experience. Expérience fantastique: When I started with Carolyn a year ago, my knees hurt, my hips hurt, my shoulders and back were messed up. I was scared - if I feel like this now, what I will feel like in 20 years! Carolyn saw what my body needed to heal through strength and movement. With her awesome cues and explanations she coached me to relearn how to move - properly! Now, my knees and hips no longer hurt and my shoulders and back are strong. I feel strong and healthy. I love that I’m continually learning about my body and getting stronger and healthier and healing through exercise. I feel empowered to take control over how I feel and move. If you want to learn how to move the way you’re meant to and get strong and powerful, I highly recommend you give Carolyn a try!

Expérience fantastique: I have been working with Carolyn Box more than 8 years now. I am always impressed with her extensive knowledge gained by taking numerous courses over the years. Her commitment to clients is exemplary. Along with teaching the critical importance and the mechanics of core fitness, my sessions of 2 to 3 times a week have vastly improved my strength and mobility. These sessions are always personalized with careful individual analysis and focus on areas that need work. Carolyn adapted to sessions by Zoom during the pandemic which allowed me to continue my training with little interruption. I’m convinced that I would not have weathered the challenges of the pandemic as well as I am doing without this consistent physical and mental training. Carolyn offers numerous packages with very clear terms and is very flexible in how those packages are used. I am excited to transition back to Carolyn’s well set up studio for in person training and to move forward with my strength, mobility and cardio development goals. Expérience fantastique: I have been working with Carolyn for over four years. I was still struggling and frustrated with my postpartum body when my youngest was four!. I refused to accept that this was my new normal - no jumping, no running and continued searching until I met Carolyn. She is amazing - caring, firm, super knowledgable, innovative, adaptive. After some initial rework of my basic movement systems, we got into the fun stuff. Going to the studio is not just a weight training session - it full functional fitness. It's always challenging and completely tailored to where I'm at in my body on that day. I am now stronger now, more powerful, rarely tweak things and have save so much money by rarely needing physio, massage and chiro treatments. She can adapt to anything you put in front of her - pinched shoulder, tweaked si joint, you name it. You leave feeling better than when you arrived and always learn something in the session. She can work miracles - if you show up and do the work.

Expérience fantastique: My husband and I have been training with Carolyn for 5+ years and have found her to be very clear about her costs, packages, and expectations. We both are pursuing very different fitness goals and Carolyn provides programs for each of us specific to our individual needs and abilities. A strong foundation of technique precision is the keystone to her programs and as we've learned over time, consistent training is necessary to achieve and maintain any level of core strength and fitness. We highly recommend Outside the Box Fitness to anyone serious about improving or maintaining their level of fitness.

Expérience fantastique: Carolyn is very knowledgeable trainer. I've done a variety of other fitness programs in the past and this is the first time I feel that the workouts are programmed in a way that has allowed me to progress in my fitness. I've been working with Carolyn for almost 3 years and have noticed all of the aches and pains of decades have completely resolved!

Expérience fantastique: After years of attending a variety of group fitness classes, where there was insufficient instruction regarding proper form and mechanics, I had chronic injuries such as neck, shoulder and hip pain. Only through working with Carolyn have I learned how to properly move my body during exercise, and it is amazing to now be able to do proper movements without pain. When I first started training with Carolyn I was also going to physiotherapy, and I was surprised to see the physiotherapist give me many of the same exercises that Carolyn had already provided - it made me realize the extent of her knowledge and experience. If you are looking for high intensity cardio-type classes, or a cookie-cutter fitness routine, this will not be a good fit for you. If you are looking for someone with incredible knowledge of body mechanics and anatomy, who will use that knowledge to tailor a program just for you, and who has an eye for detail to ensure that you are doing exercises properly, then you will love working out with Carolyn. Highly recommend!

Expérience fantastique: Carolyn is an extremely knowledgeable & dedicated trainer/teacher. She is always building upon her knowledge through professional development and clearly applies what she learns and knows to assist her clients. Carolyn pays fine attention to detail and precision that at first can make progress feel slow when compared to other work out plans/group exercise classes out there or feel frustrating when having to unlearn poor movement patterns but in the end it truly is the secret to her and her clients' success. Her methods and consistency are of the greatest long term value. As an old dancer with lot's of old injuries and hyper mobile joints Carolyn has helped me to unlearn bad habits, rehab injuries, significantly decrease pain, increase strength/mobility and regain the confidence to reconnect with my body after years of inaction due to injury. She never stops problem solving for her clients and will often pass along resources in between sessions. You are her client every day and not just the hours you are in the gym. Also her quick adaptation to online training during the pandemic was impressive, client-focused and a sanity-saver. I used to have to go on my hands and knees to protect my back before a sneeze and within a few months of working with Carolyn I didn't have to anymore and haven't had to for a few years now. My Chiropractor says working with Carolyn is the best thing I could have ever done and l feel very lucky and privileged to be able to do so.

Expérience fantastique: I have been training with Carolyn off and on since she first opened Outside the Box Fitness with group classes held in Riverbend. The off part is only because I have not been consistently living in Edmonton. Each time I have returned, training with Carolyn was a priority. The one-on-one nature of what Carolyn provides in her gym, meant training went uninterrupted through the pandemic. During those weeks when shutdowns meant no in-person sessions, training continued either by Zoom sessions or in Carolyn’s backyard. The specific nature of the program Carolyn takes the time to create means that changes in posture, strength, and balance are allowing for a more active and pain free life. I highly recommend Outside the Box Fitness.

Expérience fantastique: I want to share my experience with Carolyn Box to let prospective clients know what to expect when they enter into an agreement with “Outside The Box Fitness”. I met with Carolyn over 2 years ago as a referral from a friend who has trained with her for 5 years. Carolyn assessed my level of fitness along with a complete analysis of discrepancies in my body (Scoliosis) and also areas of my body where I experience chronic pain and she came up with a plan for me. I left with a folder which included terms and conditions and pricing as well as other valuable information related to personal training. I feel that Carolyn is a very intuitive trainer and I am very grateful for all of her knowledge as well as extra video tutorials that she emails to me. Carolyn has really helped me with my breathing which has helped with my scoliosis and pain and I am very grateful for her knowledge and also for her attention to detail. Carolyn is extremely professional and dedicated to helping me achieve the highest possible outcome. I look forward training with Carolyn every week.

Expérience fantastique: I have been working out with Carolyn for more that 3 years. Carolyn is a highly knowledgeable, reliable and caring professional. When I started with Carolyn, I could not walk for more than 15 minutes without left hip pain and within weeks of training with Carolyn by pain diminished and within a month it was gone. I gradually rebuilt my core and learned to recruit the right muscles. Since then I regularly workout at least twice a week with Carolyn. Her policies are well laid out and straightforward and the app is very easy to use. I plan my workouts six weeks in advance and have never looked back. I would highly recommend, Carolyn as a trainer. She walks the talk and understands first hand how hard it is at the beginning and is both patient and encouraging.

Whatever your goals are she will meet you where you are by creating a comprehensive training program and modifying exercises so you can progress safely. Expérience fantastique: Both my husband and I have been training with Carolyn for approximately 5 years and find her to be very knowledgeable about fitness/strength training and nutrition. We have both benefited a great deal over this time with her coaching in both areas. Having had experiences with other trainers in the past we can confidently say that her level of expertise in this area is far above what we had experienced in the past. We both would highly recommend her services.

Expérience négative: Carolyn is really knowledgeable about fitness, but unfortunately our personalities were not a match to create a good working relationship together. She just doesn't seem to get me and my struggles. I figured that out just two weeks of working together and paying about $2500 for 6-months of nutrition and fitness services. She refuses to provide any sort of refund so that I can move on to work with someone else. I would make sure to have a trial period before committing the cost she requires up front. I feel really discouraged and taken-advantage of when I'm just trying to do what's right for me and get healthy.

Hi Erin, I’d like to clarify some facts to what you state in your review. You did not purchase 6 months of training and nutrition, you purchased a package of personal training sessions (12), and 26 weeks of online nutrition coaching, using the software that is licensed through Precision Nutrition. The receipt and terms of service states no refunds so that there are no misunderstandings. I also told you this at the initial session and on the phone the first time we spoke. However, I have offered you some alternatives; a pause, or continuing with the app as the program is currently set up, without my coaching direction. I am also open to a pro-rated return of nutrition funds providing you have given the system a chance by following the initial agreement for 12 weeks. As a comment to the trial period you recommended, I already have a 6 session trial in place for training. Through my experience with my clients over the decade, I’ve learned that it is very important to be transparent with my services and to layout expectations before onboarding of clients. I'm sorry you feel taken advantage of, please feel free to reach out to me to pursue one of the options i've offered.
