Aquaventures Swim Centre: Avis
Expérience fantastique: Good place to train your infants to swim
Thank you for your 5-star review, Thilina! It’s great to hear you’re enjoying the lessons so far.
Expérience positive: Amazing facility but the registration process is far too time consuming, you probably won’t get a spot or one that works for your schedule, & they do not offer any makeup classes or credit if your child misses a class. We have had better luck with rec centre’s or private lessons
Thank you for your feedback, Pam.
Expérience fantastique: Excellent facility (clean, well organized and well equipped). Water is very warm. Meg our instructor is fantastic with our children. My daughter 5 and son 2 have made great progress with great confidence now in the water.
Thank you, James! We’re happy to hear that your children have made great progress.
Expérience positive: Great place !! friendly staff
Expérience positive: The most complicated, outdated, and idiotic registration process ever. Plus any communications from them are extremely verbose. And as you can tell by the responses to these reviews, they’re also weirdly defensive. Definitely not customer first, and whomever is running the show there LOVES bureaucracy. Good grief.
We're sorry that we didn't have any available spaces out of school hours to accommodate your family. Weekend spaces are always high in demand. Our registration process ensures that families who have been loyal clients get to re-register first. 90% of spaces are filled by our current customer base. With high demand, we do our best to ensure that potential registrants understand the process in detail. Thank you for your feedback.
Expérience positive: Pros: Excellent facilities and awesome instructors Cons: high cost per lesson and convoluted sign up process when compared to CoV pools
Thank you for your feedback, Ripul.
Expérience positive: New updated facility. Very clean and well organized. Temporary limited parking on the side of the building and pay street parking. ***very hard to enroll even current students, now too late to register to another school..*** August 14, 2023 ***well, my update is that they have very good customer service. However, in the side parking lot, you expect your cars will get scratch and bump from other cars beside yours. Nothing to do with the school. I would give 3 to 4 stars now.
Thanks for your review, Wilson! With our very low class ratios, all classes out of school hours are always high in demand. Unfortunately only some families will get the most popular times each session, hence why we don’t guarantee that families get to always keep the same time. This ensures that families with the same priority will always have the same chance to register for most popular times each session.
Expérience négative: Most idiotic registration process I have ever encountered.
We're sorry that we didn't have any available spaces for some levels for new clients. Our registration process ensures that families who have been loyal clients get to re-register first. We are working on figuring out the best way to open up more spaces so that new clients can join us.
Expérience négative: If you are not a current family, please do not waste your time applying for their programs. We spent hours of our time, across two terms and couldn't get any class for any of our kids. Their system is very time consuming, including multiple mailing lists and making sure you are in the correct mailing list, keeping on checking for available classes, being available at 8am on the registration day for getting a classes, when you might have to drop your kids to school at that time. We attended some classes in the summer, but somehow they decided that we are a previous family because it was not a full term. Their priority order is Current family -> Previous family -> New Family. By the time it reaches Previous family, there are practically no classes left. I understand that they are optimizing for spots for current families. But they create a false hope for everyone else and people just end up wasting their time. If you value your time, stay away! We wasted our time, please don't waste yours! Update: To add few more details. Mid way last year we found that one of the sessions had a spot. We reached out if we could join, but they said that they can't have someone join mid session. There is just so much bureaucracy at Aquaventures and the whole place feels very impersonal. Life is difficult enough dealing with academic milestones and all the other kid activities, you shouldn't have to go through such a non-deterministic process here. Our application process at all the private schools in Vancouver was better and more personable than dealing with Aquaventures. Aquaventures has implemented an extreme version of legacy+first come first serve admissions. Sure, they fill their spots - but I wonder if they are missing on a lot of talent and commitments. Thankfully, schools and colleges - don't follow their model. Hope Aquaventures can learn and improve their process.
Hello Anand, We’re sorry that you were not able to get into a class for a couple of sessions. Swimming lessons are certainly competitive in this city. We are no exception. We have just one mailing list for Previous and New Clients, but we do ask that families check their priority before each registration to ensure that they receive the correct info, in case they move from new client to previous, like you did. As per our email on Nov 21 to previous clients, we ask that families check availability the DAY before registration. We also ask that families send us their last report card to determine the appropriate level before registration. This ensures that you are able to register for the correct level. On our website and email info, we don’t sugarcoat the situation for anyone. We are very clear that “Many after-school, evening, and weekend classes are filled by Current Clients Keep Same Day registration.” As I mentioned in our email correspondence, current clients fill 75-80% of our spaces every session and almost all classes out of school hours. As for priority for summer families being “previous” and not “current”, this is not new and has been the same for over 15 years. This is designed to give priority to families who swim with us year-round, from September to June. Our summer offerings in July and August are limited. It would not be fair to give you priority for enrolling in 2 weeks (10 lessons) over families who swim with us for 9 months of the year (30-40 lessons). Some of these families grow up with us from 6 months to graduation and we are fortunate to even have some students come back to work with us. We are aware that there are not enough spaces for previous families. This is a situation that we are working to improve, while not compromising the quality of our program. Thank you for your time and for sending us your feedback.
Expérience positive: Aquaventures has an amazing facility and great instructors. We love it there. My main complaint is that it is impossible to get through to anyone if you have any questions. There has been several occasions where we had time sensitive questions, called and or emailed. We have never received a call back on any occasion, and the email responses are too delayed to be able to help.
Hello Tash. We’re happy to hear that you had a good experience with our lessons and new facility. I’m sorry that you had trouble contacting us by phone. We did receive one voicemail message from you yesterday morning that we eventually responded to by email instead when we processed your registration request. As per our email thread, our staff replied back about your registration request yesterday evening, when we processed the request. We could not have responded any sooner as we were processing requests received before yours. All requests are processed in the order that they are received. We did have an incredibly busy registration yesterday for previous clients, where we didn’t quite anticipate the high volume. You replied back to our email this morning and we replied back in 20 minutes. We always strive to provide excellent customer service. Thank you for your feedback.
Expérience fantastique: Teachers and the new facilities are amazing
Thank you, Devon!
Expérience fantastique: This is by far the best place to take your kids to learn how to swim! Great instructors with an excellent technique of teaching. Keeps the kids interacted and learning at the same time. Highly recommended for anyone looking to put their children in swimming lessons.
Expérience fantastique: Great place !! friendly staff and very clean highly recommend checking it out for your swimming lesson needs.
Thank you for your positive feedback, Mathew!
Expérience négative: Their instructors are lovely but their registration process and customer service is a nightmare. For the cost, the overall experience should be higher quality.
Hello Rachel, As per our email correspondence, it seems there was a miscommunication regarding your family's request for priority registration. Also, we only received a clear confirmation of request for a refund from you after our correspondence, not in previous communication with your partner. With a majority of our clients re-registering and wanting to continue in our program, we are very strict on following the registration procedures to be sure that the process is as fair as possible to all families in the program. Weekend (and after-school and evening) classes are always high in demand so we were not able to give your family priority for weekend classes. We did not hesitate to issue a refund when you requested it, just waiting on confirmation of the email address that we should send it to. We appreciate your feedback. Regards, Kaori
Expérience positive: We have been going to aquaventures off and on for almost 8 years. Most importantly during the baby, toddler and beginning of independent swimming levels for both our kids. I was a Red Cross swim instructor in my teens and the training left me unprepared for teaching parent and tot levels. I was so happy to see and participate in a program where the staff were much better trained and the program flexible to each kids abilities and ages. Because of the higher cost we have come and gone after the age of 3/4 depending on what’s going on. We have returned to it when something hasn’t worked elsewhere or if we were out of swimming for a period of time. I especially like the summer where it’s everyday for a week. My older kid really improved this way after months of no swimming, and my younger one has learned so much in the private covid style right now. The registration is yes unfortunately stressful, however I have been willing to deal with the short term stress for long term gains. I do wish for a better system in the future :)
Thank you for your detailed review and feedback! We do pride ourselves on always teaching to each individual’s ability. We hope that we can improve the registration experience as we settle into our new facility. We have more pool space so we will be able to gradually add more classes.
Expérience fantastique: There are so many great things about Aquaventures. We've been coming here for almost 5 years and every semester, we've had excellent instructors. They are incredible and I can't thank them enough for their patience and efforts. For those of you who question the cost, the instructors are teaching something every second in the water and it's completely worth it (in my experience). Most staff have been there for a long time. If you are looking for a place with quality instructors, this is it!
Thank you, Heather! We have been around for so long because we love working with families like yours!
Expérience fantastique: Great instructors and excellent place for young children to learn the fundamentals of swimming. The facility has a great layout and easy to follow procedures in order to adhere to Covid protocols. Separate entrances for entering and exiting. Booking system is also easy to use.
Thank you, Greg! We can’t wait to welcome everyone back at our new facility!
Expérience fantastique: The instructors here are amazing. My daughter wasn't getting anywhere with lessons elsewhere. After just one term she became a lot more comfortable and confident in the water. Now she's a little fish.
Expérience fantastique: Just going through some old files and found a letter I sent to Aquaventures in 2010. My son had started when he was 5 in 2008 and we went for 2 years. I was so appreciative of the experience he received. They gave him confidence being in the water. He is now 17 and for years has been in a triathlon club. He loves his sport, and I am so grateful for the start he got at Aquaventures. I was a very nervous mom when it came to him and learning how to swim. You instilled confidence in both of us. Seeing my old file on Aquaventure brought a huge smile to my face and many happy memories. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing this with us, Lesley! I apologize that we didn’t reply sooner. We are always grateful to hear stories like this. It brings us great joy to know that we were able to instill a love of swimming into our students and their families.
Expérience fantastique: Warm water for swim lessons for the kids. Excellent staff, swim instructors. Lessons during covid have been excellent. Kids get the pool to themselves practically.
Expérience fantastique: The entire staff and instructors are hands down the best in town. My children have been taking lessons since they were 14 months old and now they are 7. The instructors care about the children and their progress. Every instructor is excellent. My children love the water and love to swim. I hope that one day, my girls would want to teach there too.
Thank you, Donna! We would love it if your girls come back to teach with us. We have now employed quite a number of former students.
Expérience fantastique: The instructors here are so professional and caring with the kids, we love this place
Expérience fantastique: We tried a few different swim places for our one year old at the time and this was by far the best. Even after we moved out of town we continued to drive 40min to do the class with our two kids.
Expérience fantastique: We love Aquaventures!!!! Have been going for over 5 years. Thank you Daniella!
Expérience fantastique: I’ve never heard of this place and wow, I wish I had. The instructors are professional and they seem to truly love kids. I have to admit the pool is in an area (neighbourhood wise) that is unexpected. My kid is looking forward to the next lesson.
Expérience négative: I don’t care how good the instructors are but the booking system/process is from 1990s It’s not worth it. I couldn’t be bothered to book anything because I lost patience having to deal with their outdated process. It took me over an hour just to locate and read the instructions how to book from their site, while it took me less than 10 min to book with another facility, hassle-free.
Expérience négative: Great place but registration policy is the most stressful and annoying. They are getting so many students (including me) just because there is no other centre in Vancouver.
Expérience fantastique: Great place for kids to learn to swim. Merisa is fantastic and great with the kids.
Expérience fantastique: We love this place, my kids love this place, we all love this place! Yes, it is expensive, however, it's worth it for our kids to learn to swim. Perhaps the cost will lessen in the future, that would make it that much better :)
Expérience fantastique: Great teachers who have helped my 4-year old go from fearful of water to a little fish. They are so patient and skilled! Classes are small, activities in the pool are creative and fun. The building is outdated but they are moving in the new year. Parking is great. We’ll be back.
Expérience fantastique: If you are looking for the best Child Activity Center in the Vancouver, BC area, 3rd Level Consulting recommends Aquaventures Swim Centre. Based on our decades of working with Children’s Education, Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Instruction programs in multiple industries and Countries, we are confident in our recommendation
Expérience positive: Pros: great instructors, staff are professional and friendly, free parking, private pool Cons: expensive ($25 for half hour!), registration is a mess (you are assigned time based on current, former or new clients AND day of the week you were previously registered for AND if you are looking to keep your day or switch your day). And then when you do "register" it's actually to express interest in that class and they will inform you at a later time if you got in
Expérience fantastique: I am a physician and have been a customer for several years, as all three of our kids learned how to swim there, after we unsuccessfully had tried several other places with our first... Aquaventures is unbelievably great - they dealt with each kid's needs and got them water smart as well as great at swimming. I have no idea how but the whole team knew our kids, and remembered them well even after we took a break for a year. The experience was fantastic!!
Expérience fantastique: Our daughter's been going to Aquaventures since she was 9 months old, she's 4 and a half now. The instructors really care about each individual student's development. They know all the kids' strengths and will place them with groups that complement their skill level to ensure they are always challenged. Awesome school!
Expérience fantastique: This is a great place to learn swimming for babies and toddles. 1. water is warm 2. showerhead system is friendly for kids 3. water is tested way more regularly (cleaner water) only down side is registration is a bit tough for new kids
Expérience négative: This place is expensive and crowded. The parking lot is filled with monster SUVs that have left many a dent on our car. We just switched to UBC and they have a brand new pool and the kids like the lessons "way more". The main plus with this place is that the water is warm.
