Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre: Avis
Expérience fantastique: One of the best Recs i have ever been to. Change rooms and shower area are neat and clean. Staff is good and cooperative.
Expérience négative: Bad hours don't understand why the city would do this. Our tax dollars at work thanks ymca for poorly running this
Expérience négative: Swimming lesson for kids is a waste of time! Impossible to sign in, all the spots are filled in a second. Lessons themselves are okay, though huge lack of communication and zero feedback with parents. It feels like kids are not being pushed to try harder to learn new skills. Feedback and communication with a parent after each lesson would be a huge help to know what a child needs to work on or practice perhaps on its own to pass the level. Instead of being blind for two months just to find out that child failed again, huge disapointment for a child. We did the same level twice and still did not pass. At this point it does not feel like it is even worse to continue with this center.
Expérience fantastique: Didn't have most of it open
Expérience fantastique: My favourite local pool
Expérience positive: Everyone check the swimming schedule. It does not match up with what they have going on. Phone first you could be wasting your time. Been there a few times they have wrong number of swimming lanes or classes where they say you could be swimming. Not a great experience.
Expérience fantastique: The Mobility class on Thursday evenings is awesome! Think Boot Camp Lite…intervals of using various pieces of equipment like dumbbells or hurdles or medicine balls for strengthening mixed with cardio bursts. The instructor is FANTASTIC (so fun and motivating) and accommodated my bad knees with alternative moves. Highly recommend!
Expérience fantastique: Kids loved it, lots to keep them busy!
Expérience fantastique: Great experience. Clean and super fun to bring your kids in
Expérience positive: Nice community center. Sauna for Europeans kind of cold, no Aufguss. But hotter than many other places in Canada. Steam room, pool, diving board, hot tub. Changing rooms look kind of old.
Expérience fantastique: Not bad!
Expérience négative: Used to be a pretty good place. No longer give cash back for lockers or hold a drivers license. Why have them if you are not going to support them? Speakers are no good too.
Expérience positive: Great facility, but it's starting to show age. Staff are always a pleasure to deal with. Family change rooms are, most of the time, quite gross in the showers.
Expérience fantastique: Love going swimming here just sometimes the schedule isn't right most of all fun!
Expérience fantastique: Nice pool
Expérience fantastique: Great pool so long as they keep the sauna hot!
Expérience négative: Stole my money. Came to use the sauna, which closed 5 mins after I arrived (no information posted in the lobby nor did the staff explain this would be the case despite asking “one for the sauna please” Ok whatever I’ll get a refund. Was refused a refund. Unacceptable.
Expérience négative: The family change rooms are comfortable, the lifeguards are alert but we actually had to beg for the waves and/or the slide to be on. We were there for an hour before any of these were turned on or open.
Expérience négative: change rooms need to be cleaned more. Always stinky and dirty
Expérience positive: Great pool but slide not open
Expérience négative: Young guy at the front desk extremely rude
Expérience fantastique: Big sauna big steam room and a HOT! Hot tub, will highly recommend
Expérience négative: Qw took an elderly friend there for a coffee n fries. 20 buck later, the coffee was bitter AF, and so was the worker. Won't do that again.
Expérience négative: Gym needs all new cable machines, most of them are grimy and sticky when pulling
Expérience positive: This is a great pool for families. I like the concept of a family hot tub and an adult hot tub; it sets the tone that there will likely be splashing kids or children who won't sit still. I find the wave pool to be cold. My kids tend to not stay in there for long periods because they start shivering; for context, my kids are 5 and 3. The changerooms are a good size too. I would recommend that they unlock the bathrooms in the changerooms instead of having a sign to see the front desk attendant. I don't particularly like walking to desk in a dripping swimsuit to get a key for my kids to use the bathroom in the universal changeroom. Otherwise, it's a nice pool. The fees are quite expensive for a year pass. For a child it's $240+ for the year. I can imagine it pays for itself if you go regularly but it seems steep. We don't utilize other programs and just the pool so it would be nice to just have a pool pass instead of the whole center.
Expérience négative: Each life guard has there own rules they should have a staff meeting to discuss rules
Expérience fantastique: Great for family days and the children love the time they have here each time.
Expérience négative: Some lifeguards are VERY RUDE AND ATTITUDIE!! Just explain kindly rather than screaming at the face!!! I come here because of the kids. Otherwise, I really don't recommend coming here.
Expérience négative: I asked how much does it cost to go to the Chilliwack leisure center and It didn’t show any results whatsoever all it showed was how to get there what it’s about what to do before you go there I asked was how much does it cost not everything but how much it cost
Expérience négative: Dirty. Band aid in pool, hot tub smells like pee dirty floors in change rooms and pool area.
Expérience positive: Not sure if its YMCA management or the city funding but they shut down much of the pool and sauna in the middle of the day. Pathetic for a city funded service. Maybe less funding for rainbow crosswalks and fund things that are more practical?!!
Expérience négative: They dont have an option for a shower, its 6$ for a a shower, i think if a persons unhoused they should have reasonable access to a shower thats not that high of a price especially a public bath shower . Please reflect on a better rate, as so many pools ive been to charge 2$
Expérience fantastique: I came here two years ago with my family and changing rooms were horrible and all messed up and we visited recently and on God the cleaning is the best I could find anywhere. The cleanliness team needs a pay rise and I appreciate how dedicated they are towards their work and I would like to thank the cleaning time for putting your time and effort in cleaning it. Two years ago, the changing rooms were disgusting like real bad and now when I visited with my mother and daughter, we all were shocked. And we were happy to look at such clean environment.❤️
Expérience négative: Came from Langley to try out the water slide here, and even checked the schedule online. The staff closed the slide the moment my kids and I got there, and it remained closed for the duration of our time. None of the staff had any answers about why it closed, or when it would open. One member told us it would open again in 45 minutes. So we stayed and waited. The time came, nothing happened. We again enquired with more staff, they said they had no idea when it will open. We gave up and left. Frustrating. There seemed to be no reason or communication and many kids were disappointed, as the slide was the whole reason we came here.
Expérience positive: Clean facility reasonable prices and lots of parking..
Expérience négative: Lady in a red sweater at the front desk has ZERO people skills. She was rude to her coworkers (talking over them and down to them) , made us go through the whole create file /payment process while fully knowing the first desks debit machine was down and that we already had a file. So we had to go to the other desk to do it all over again. I get that they have policies to adhere to but she could learn from some kindness training. Someone with her attitude should not be in a position of teaching others. No class or tact from that woman. May I suggest the YMCA do better personality testing during their hiring process? Also the pool water is awful and gave my daughter a rash and the pool walking area is so slippery from mildew/build up. The leisure centre was way better before the YMCA got their hands on it.
Hi Sarah. Thank you for letting us know. We would be happy to discuss this with you in person or by phone. Please contact the Centre Manager and they can set up a time to meet.
Expérience fantastique: Took my 3 year old daughter swimming. She absolutely loves it. Although she's not a big fan of the waves lol
Expérience fantastique: Very clean and well maintained facility. Staff helpful and alert. Varied programs and times. Large hot tubs, sauna, steam room, long lanes well marked for swimming lengths. Childrens area with splash pools and lazy river. Change facilities have individual showers in change cubicles. Lockers return $2 after use.
Expérience positive: Way way omgosh cheaper than the ymca. Also I asked for a little paddle board and they let me use it free of charge..ty ty
Expérience positive: Good spot. Kids enjoy the mix of things to do.
Expérience négative: Horrible experience there. Was harassed by lifequards. Very rude and all i was doing was sitting in the hot tub. WILL NEVER GO BACK
Expérience négative: UPDATE YOUR BUSINESS HOURS ON HOLIDAYS. Also the stalls in the men’s change rooms haven’t been cleaned properly in months.
Expérience fantastique: This place is by far the cleanest public community centre I've been into.. nice staff and the lifeguard? Bruh they're are the most active of all.. you can't see them not moving all around make sure everyone are safe.. so for that alone.. more than 5 stars!
Expérience négative: Looks like theirs mold in the shower rooms green stuff on the floor has like never been cleaned or something and they made a big deal about me being 30 cents short almost not allowing me in the place just to let me not pay a thing and take my money back after I went and had a shower for 6.20 not 6.50 anyways. Very childish and rude to do to someone with anxiety issues and paranoia in public places when their homeless and have no where else to shower and are a little short. Other than they need some janitors that actually do their job and some nicer staff this place could actually be helpful.
Expérience fantastique: It's a good facility.
Expérience négative: Recently moved to chilliwack from abbotsford. This is a nicer facility than abbotsford but it is rarely open for public swim. I’ve been told this place is run by a private company(ymca) who evidently do a terrible job. Every other pool in the lower mainland is open both Saturday and Sunday for public swim but not this place. They’re open a few hours Saturday sometimes 12-3 sometimes 12-4. While every other pool is open til at least 8pm both days. The water is cold because whoever has the contract is apparently trying to save money. Also they don’t pay their lifeguards as much as other cities (again to cut costs) so they constantly have staff shortages. They’re so poorly staffed, because they pay less than EVERYWHERE else, that they don’t open the slide or diving board most days.Being a lifeguard at a public pool is a job for young people and why should you work here if they pay better at literally every other pool? The Cheam leisure/pool is also ran by the ymca and guess what? They’re also horribly ran and barely open. These facilities are owned by the city. We pay taxes for these facilities. It’s clear these guys aren’t fulfilling their contract it should absolutely be terminated. What an incredible disappointment. If you want to go to a public pool you’re better off driving to Abbotsford
Expérience fantastique: We love to swim here. Clean and well kept. Very friendly life guards.
Expérience fantastique: Very nice, clean facility. The pool and splash park are amazing, we are lucky to have this in our community!
Expérience négative: Apart from rude life guard who are none other than being doing ramp walk there, the old men in changing room need some manners, why they are being naked in front of 5 years old kid, they are lot of changing rooms, Stupid people.
Expérience positive: Great place to relax and for kids to play only giving it 4 stars because it gets really loud like all swimming pools if your kids are sensitive to loud noises or you are not the best option
Expérience positive: Its a Good facility. Very neat
Expérience fantastique: Place has everything you will need in a leisure centre, such as a pool and a gym! The downside is if you only need the gym you still have to pay $50/month, while other places offer $15/month memberships! Other than that if you live in downtown you probably can save on gas by just walking to the leisure centre.
Expérience fantastique: Very clean with a big slide. We really enjoyed
Expérience négative: It crazy this place has such short hours of operation.
Expérience négative: Tried to contact them regarding pool hours because of how inconsistent they can be. Called 5 times in a span of 3 hours. Rang rang rang and then got immediately hung up on every time. Where is the front desk? where is the customer service? Where is a person who can pick up a phone?
Expérience négative: We go to the leisure center every 2-3 days for the hot tub and sauna and today we called to see if opened so we get there and have to wait a half hour before we can go in tried going in 5 minutes early get lecturered by a kid so wait few minutes it's now 1:31 us and a non native go in so there no problem there after we soak go in steam room where we took out close-able water bottles we usually take in and don't have a issue but the guy come right in there and pulled us out not once but twice what a headache it was hard not to think this was a racial profile as no non natives were as popular as us today! Smh
Expérience négative: Horrible horrible customer service by the manager, Jessica I think her name is , horrible should learn how to treat customers better , Disgusting attitude rude and does not care for the company she works for because if she did she treat customers better !!!
Expérience positive: It's a pool. Nothing particularly special about the facility other than the attached restaurant I haven't been to. Staff were friendly.
Expérience fantastique: Great place to hang out with friends and family.
Expérience négative: They were spewing nonsense and wouldn’t let my daughter go in with her friends they were all 15 but she was 14 her birthday was the upcoming week and they still wouldn’t let her into the weight room although they had previously allowed her to go multiple times without a question
Expérience fantastique: I highly recommend if you want to make memories with the family you should come to this leisure center
Expérience fantastique: I go to physio here and Tatiana is who I'm working with she is amazing and I would highly recommend her.
Expérience négative: Place has gone down hill since rec ex left. Not even open on Sunday. Also love the rotary pool telling us at 3 to go to the leisure centre to get a card to access the rotary pool, and the leisure centre closed at 3. On a bloody hot Saturday.
Expérience positive: It is a solid pool. Not much availability for public swim, the diving board is often closed, and the slide is rarely open. Deck is quite slippery too. Separate hot tubs for kids and adults is nice though, and the wave pool is pretty solid. Fun place to go, but not a top pool.
Expérience positive: Really great pool for kids! We go here regularly. Has lots of sprinkler areas, mostly shallow so great place to learn to swim. Water is warm and clean. Change rooms are spacious and there are lots of showers. Wish the water temperature was adjustable as it can be quite hot.
Expérience positive: Overall great facility. Love the steam room and cold shower however change rooms/washrooms are not very clean and need more attention.
Expérience négative: We love this pool but the hours are horrible. Why are they not open on Sundays and open later on Saturdays. Would it not make more sense to be open more when kids are out of school?
Expérience fantastique: Very nice facilities!
Expérience négative: The Leisure Centre has potential but is poorly run. There communication is non existent. Multiple times I’ve looked on their website to see their hours, drive there, only to find they’ve changed the hours. I’ve since learned that they’ll sometimes update hours on Facebook, but nowhere else. The pool looks as if it’s for kids, but the lack of staffing make it difficult for kids to utilize many aspects of the pool. The slide will be open for 5 minutes, then closed for an hour. The family bathrooms are often dirty too. We now go to the Abbotsford pool, where the clearly communicate hours online (not just Facebook), ensure all aspects of the pool are available for kids, and they regularly clean the facilities. Hard pass on the Leisure Centres in Chilliwack.
Expérience négative: Structurally, this pool could be great. But, they have implemented "rules" that made for a rather unenjoyable experience. I mean, I get it, some patrons can be ignorant. Most saunas are now electric, hence dry, and water could short out the burner elements. So they boxed in the heaters to prevent people from bringing in water and pouring it on the rocks. But, they also went a step further, and instilled a shelf outside with large signage that to prevent water from being poured on the rocks, all water bottles have to be left outside the sauna. So, I complied. Normally, I will wet down the seat area that I am going to sit/lie on. But, with no water bottle, I could not. So, I sat, and noted that the wooden seats, while the wood was rotting and weak by the heater ends, that it felt very hot. I moved to a wet area where someone else had left, and put it out of my mind..... until I went into the hot tub again, and practically jumped out of the pool due to extreme pain on the back of one thigh. Stepping out of the hottub, I found the back side of my thigh reddened, with a burn blister where I had sat in the sauna. Additionally, I almost wiped out near the hot tub edge due to slippery tiles surrounding the pool. The morning public swim hours also are challenging to fit in, after dropping the kids at school as they frequently close by 10:00. The photo is of the next day, after the generalized redness subsided.
Expérience positive: Hours slowly increasing under YMCA management. They're actively looking for new staff to increase swim lessons. Have hope for the future!
Expérience négative: The hour is never consistent, they blame not enough life guards, covid etc. We literally have to call every day to confirm hours of operation. Then when you get there, they turn you away saying they reached their capacity. Enough is enough.
Expérience positive: My son really loves the pool there. Lazy river, wave pool, waterside, family hot tub.
Expérience fantastique: Loved it. Water for Physio was the PERFECT temperature. Thank you!
Expérience négative: This place has gone downhill. They never used to have a wait list to get in for drop in. Now there is always a wait list. You never know if you’re gonna get in or not and there are only very limited drop in swimming hours as it is. So many young families turned away with kids crying as they were hoping to go swimming. And the pool isn’t even very full! What the heck happened here? Not a single reliable family pool in Chilliwack now. So disorganized. Avoid.
Expérience fantastique: Very nice large facility with a great gym. I frequently use the sauna, hot tub and steam room. The drop in rate was reasonable for such a large facility with alot to offer.
Expérience négative: Incredibly disorganized. Unless you show up as soon as they open (still not guaranteed) you will likely not get in for swimming. Very limited time slots for families to swim. Initially told it was a 30 minute wait, then told my children actually could not get in before it closes. Unacceptable. Very let down children. Super disappointed.
Expérience fantastique: Nice pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room. Very enjoyable place to go.
Expérience fantastique: Gym and swimming, good place for physical activities.
Expérience négative: Terrible hours, the pool isn't even open today and it's a Monday. Not sure what has happened to this place.
Expérience fantastique: I was there to watch a swim meet. There was ample parking outside and easy access to the building. Inside on the 2nd floor there were rows of raised concrete seating so you could watch the pool below. The pool appeared to be in great condition and had a great deep end. The starting blocks also appeared to be new and in good condition.
Expérience négative: Wave pool closed , water slide closed, under 16 can’t use the hot tub. Full price, you betcha
Expérience positive: Limited hours since COVID but great rec centre. I regularly bring the kids to play in the waves while I do laps.
Expérience fantastique: Our 3 year old son having private swim lesson . Going very good thanks too best teacher Jullian!!!
Expérience fantastique: Beautiful location to take the kids ....and the french fries mmmmm
Expérience négative: The pool is great. Clean facility, good building. But you only get PUBLIC swims after 5 on weekdays. With an 1h and 45mins on Saturdays, but it’s completely closed on Sundays!! What the heck!
Expérience fantastique: We'll run clean facility
Expérience fantastique: Very clean. Nice facility.
Expérience fantastique: The Spray Park with my G-Kids. Good rymes are always had here
Expérience fantastique: Good place for kids those who like to learn swimming.
Expérience fantastique: Clean pool, organized system .
Expérience positive: Outstanding gym as well as pool and steam bath. Ridiculously unorganized with letting people in and making us wait to enter pool area due to max occupancy.
Expérience négative: Don't like it when they just change the schedule an the people who bought a membership are left with nothing. We used to have lane swim after 4:30 and that was part of what i bought into when i bought a membership, now its taken away. Bad enough we don't get the wave pool every day now we only get the adult areas.
Expérience négative: The facility seems clean and well maintained and functional. However the pool hours are poor. The hot tub should be open during all hours of operation! It's ridiculous to be kicked out during the day.
Expérience fantastique: Great pool for the kids, waterside and wave pool, aswell as a lazy river, was lots of fun!
Expérience négative: Facility gets 5 stars…pool schedule gets ZERO stars. Total waste of a wonderful facility built with my tax dollars. On weekends, when working people like myself are off and would like to enjoy our facility, the pool is open for a total of 1:45 hrs on Saturdays and closed on Sundays….ridiculous. Used to really enjoy ending my weekend's with the the “toonie swim after 6:00 pm” on Sundays.
Expérience fantastique: Nice and clean place and loads of fun for the kid!
Expérience négative: A massive pool like this yet not open on a Sunday and only 1hr 45 mins on a Saturday. Not acceptable.
Expérience fantastique: Always fun, and very friendly staff
Expérience fantastique: Nice and clean place and loads of fun for the kid!
