YMCA of Eastern Ontario, Brockville YMCA: Avis
Expérience fantastique: I just started as a member at the YMCA. I have found the staff to be friendly, joyful, kind and engaged. I absolutely love the pool area, and actually I also joined the Master's Swimming Programme, which is phenomenal! I can't wait to spend more time in the weight room, and focus on becoming as fit as I can be. Many thanks to the good folks working at the YMCA!
Expérience négative: Website doesn't load?
Expérience fantastique: absolute awh of this facility. what an amazing place and super nice gym. will definitely be going again and again, everyone is really friendly and i enjoyed my time here.
Expérience fantastique: Amazing, the basketball court is amazingly amusing.
Expérience fantastique: Been through a few kids / daycares / cities and the people at the YMCA daycare in Brockville make this my favorite daycare ever. Thank-you to the director and all the staff there, you're the best !
Expérience fantastique: Great community based organization! Offerings for anyone looking to be active, whether it’s awesome personal training sessions, use of weights or exercise equipments or fitness classes!
Expérience négative: My kids love swimming. We don't get the opportunity to go to the local Y very often. But when we do they are hype. So imagine the disappointment when the pool has been closed out last two visits in a row. Dragging crying kids that don't understand why they can't swim today and get out of their swim suits is not a highlight of my day. The last time, the fella beside us said it happens to him six times in a row and he's driving in from Johnstown. Figure it out Y. Avoid if possible.
Expérience négative: Gym is amazing, only problem is when they tell you it's free for teens then refuse to let you in.
Expérience positive: Well kept
Expérience positive: Not what it used to be 2000 to 2010
Expérience fantastique: Super belle endroit et très propre.
Expérience fantastique: it’s fun to stay at the ymca
Expérience négative: Membership fees are for everything and if you want to do just one thing, i.e. the swimming/hot tub, it's incredibly expensive JUST to swim. Such a shame because it's pretty much the only game in town for a pool good for swimming lengths and a hot tub, which is helpful to so many with joint, mobility, physical issues. Have heard nothing but good things about equipment, classes, etc. and the facility is very large and offers great variety for a city of this size. So, great for some things, BUT lacks flexibility to be great for all people. Consequently, means that a city of more than 21,000 people lacks an affordable place to swim. By contrast, Cornwall boasts an incredible indoor pool that costs $6 per 1-hour swim.
Expérience négative: Website is unhelpful. The hours of this facility are day time only on weekends and only until 8pm on weekdays. No visitor day use price at this location for the swimming pool where as other YMCA locations usually charge $5-$7. I guess, it's just stuck in the 50s. Might as well be closed on Sundays. Get a Snap or Planet Fitness membership instead!
Expérience négative: Terrible system online there's zero information and no one responds to emails, the best I've found out (on my own and with others review help) is that we can't get swimming lessons for our kids unless we have a full membership and for my 3 & 5 year old to go once a week for 25 minutes is $70! It's too bad as we just moved to the area... If anyone finds some place else I can get them lessons that would be great.
Expérience négative: Very disappointing that they're so restrictive. They won't allow you to register a young child in swimming lessons or visit public swim without their own membership - a membership that must be paid monthly that the child isn't able to use for anything else. This is the only rec centre in the city but they keep everyone out. Their reply when I pointed out the absurdity? "Well there are private lessons." Gee, thanks. Because THOSE are affordable. Honestly disappointed. We just moved here and this YMCA is terrible. 0 stars.
Expérience fantastique: Great place to work out, great staff, very friendly and always helpful. Contributed a lot to make me feel welcome in the city when I first moved here (Brockville). LOVE the group fitness, especially dance fit is always a lot of fun :)
Expérience fantastique: The staff here is incredible. My wife and I are new to town and we can't believe how generous and friendly to they are. Nice hot tub (could be hotter). And good sauna. The pool and the weight room are pretty nice too. Getting my monthly membership. It costs$15 to get in. The pass pays for itself in no time flat.
Expérience fantastique: I'm thankful for having a YMCA here in Brockville.
Expérience fantastique: I worked out at the Brockville Y this morning, my first visit since the re-opening. I was very impressed by the COVID protocols, including the instructions given by the person at the front desk when I entered. The newly renovated men's changeroom and shower area looks terrific. Brockville is lucky to have such a great facility available for all to use. Congrats to the Y of Eastern Ontario team for all of the great work that has been done!!
Expérience positive: Lots to do
Expérience fantastique: They are good at the daycare centre
Expérience fantastique: I really like this YMCA location, mostly due to Suenyang being such a great yoga instructor! She is very knowledgeable and helpful to ensure you get a good balance of mental well-being, relaxation and a good workout. I really like how she works on specific stretches in each class, so you can really see the progress. I’d highly recommend any of her yoga classes!
Expérience fantastique: Over priced for what it offers. The recent upgrade was much needed, but I think they still have a lot of work to do in order to measure up to other gyms. I think that they should try to be apart of the community and area they are in, instead of looking for outsiders. However, I know they do offer a reduced price for people of low/no income.
Expérience fantastique: Great spot! It is very clean. There are plenty of machines, both cardio and resistance. Beautiful pool, wading pool, hot tub, sauna. There are plenty of group activities, for all levels of fitness
Expérience positive: Love the gym. Just wish it was 24 hrs. I read some people on here say it's expensive. I only pay 25 a month. They go by your budget eh.
Expérience fantastique: My wife and I take our 2 year old just about every week to swim here. They're always friendly and welcoming. We also really appreciate how Meghan? Megan? Makes an effort to be extra friendly to our son. Haven't had any issues aside from once the pool being closed for cleaning without their being notices or anything but that's understandable!
Expérience fantastique: The YMCA is a very positive place that has helped to grow the community in Brockville and is continuing to do so. It is a great place to work out as well as a great place for kids camps, aquatics and daycare!
Expérience négative: Police your bank accounts, keep a watchful eye! Not what it use to be! Good bye!
Expérience négative: A lot of employees we have delt with are terrible with kids and I wouldn't leave my kid alone with many of the employees. Last year I reviewed the brockville Y at 1 star just after we started going because of the terrible experience with karate. We have now been going a year and I still think that's an appropriate rating. Its not the cleanest in the pool area there's gum stuck in windows and under things last time I was in. Most of the lifeguards are cold and cranky. There are a select few that are decent and most of the good ones always seem to leave. We just removed our son from swimming due to how the guy treated my son and how he didn't pay attention to my son swimming in the pool. Some people shouldn't be working with kids if they aren't good with them. The kids club is iffy at best the first week my son went to kids club some kid stole his sweater. Most of the classes my son has been in aren't good and not many seem to get how to interact with children. Most of the people working in kids club just sit/eat and sort of watch the kids they don't even try to keep them entertained. I cant imagine what it is like on youth night with no parents around. The front desk are OK... But have made more mistakes than I can count. Even after calling to confirm a class is happening we have showed up to the class cancelled. We also asked them to switch my sons swimming class to a different teacher (because of the issues which we told them about) and they said ya sure did it. Come to find out it was switched it to a different day but the same teacher. I get the feeling a lot of the people that work there don't care and the ones that do care are very few. Come on YMCA hire more people that care. We are canceling our membership unfortunately good prices aren't enough to subject my child to this.
Expérience positive: Decent Gym/Recreation Center but it is Pricey and most of the equipment are old and could use an update. Most expensive facility in Brockville area.
Expérience fantastique: I love working our at the YMCA and also I love swimming too it's so fun
Expérience négative: The facility is expensive but the staff is friendly - however the website is terrible. It’s impossible to find information on swim times or lessons so you always have to phone.
