Expérience positive: It's not bad, it's a fun place, the diving board doesn't have much spring due to the setting they keep it at and old ball swing is gone. So there's not much for older teens and adults but they have a fantastic play structure for the kids. Used to be a LOT better

Expérience fantastique: Great facility with everything you need. Wavepool, water slides, hot tub sauna, dive tank kids area. That's just the pool area. Two ice rinks, gym, multiple racquet courts, weight room. Everything you need.

Expérience positive: Great place. Super packed with people. Not a fan of people wearing outdoor shoes into and around changing room. Not squeegeed often enough. No bathing suit spin dryer machine. Those are the negatives. The positives, absolutely superbly fun. Lots of different areas to go explore and hangout in.

Expérience fantastique: Held my son's 10th birthday party there. Well run, the kids had a lot of fun. The party host was very helpful.

Expérience fantastique: Great facility with splash park, wave pool, hot tub, sauna and kiddie pool. Fitness classes, gymnastics, rock climbing wall, skating rink, squash courts, and a top notch gym with the best equipment in the entire city. Physio and massage therapy available on the second floor. Avoid weekends if you can as it can get super crowded with family swim but the gym was quiet today. Nice and clean and parking lot was packed.

Expérience positive: The leisure pools here are incredible! There are slides for everyone, from gentle ones for little kids or the less adventurous to a thrilling one that leaves you saying “WOW.” My 6-year-old even tried the trampoline for the first time and absolutely loved it. The baby pool is warmer than the others, which is a nice touch, and the wave pool adds an extra layer of fun. Plenty of parking is available, too. The only downside is the locker situation and the limited number of showers in the family area, or “universal changeroom.” With so many families with multiple kids visiting, it can be frustrating for a single parent managing several children to get everyone cleaned up after swimming. Adding more showers and lockers in this area would make the experience much smoother for families.

Expérience négative: Imagine having built a water park with slides, a play structure, dedicated baby pool - essentially a mini west ed waterpark - and you close it all to public regularly and turn it all off for a dozen people for swim lessons, which are offered everywhere else. Bad management. Still uses Lockers from the 80s requiring quarters with a cramped changing area that's always over capacity.

Expérience positive: Clean, well maintained facility. Staff is usually friendly.

Expérience fantastique: I regularly attend balance classes with trainer Linda, Tue/Thur 10:30-11:30 am improving.

Expérience négative: I’ve been going to this pool all my life. Today was the busiest day I’ve ever attended and the change rooms were disgusting. The floors were so filthy with puddles of brown water. Every shower curtain/ change room curtain has some sort of gross smear on it like blood or dirty fingers. An attendant has got to come around and spray down or mop the floors through out the day.

We came in, on holiday, from Ontario, and there are no city pools back home that come close to what is available at the Southland Leisure Centre. The wave pool and water slides were pretty popular with our teenage sons. Great facility!

Expérience fantastique: Last week, we visited the pool area for the first time. My children were delighted with the wave pool. As it was our first time, we did not know the public entrance time, since it says here that they open from 7 am, we arrived around 10:20 am. We learned that day that it is actually open to the general public starting at 11:00 am. It is open earlier because there are swimming classes until that time. Additionally, one can rent a locker to store valuables for only 25 cents. One can also borrow life jackets. There is also an area with showers and changing rooms. It was definitely a very pleasant and affordable experience.

Expérience fantastique: This place is my number 1 choice for public swimming. My son love the slides and water waves. Although there is a lot of people but the experience and smile and laugh with my son is unforgettable experience. I love this place. Cheers everybody

Expérience fantastique: The pool is an amazing value for the money. Two large slides, an amazing wave pool, a diving board, a hot tub and a playground with smaller slides. We went as a family and the kids had a blast for two hours.

Expérience fantastique: We hosted our sons birthday party here and purchased the Surf’s Up Swim Party. We called in to reserve our party and Faven helped us get what we wanted. She had a great vibe and answered all of our queries! The day of the party, we were greeted by Brook and Alyssa. They helped us settle in our room and all of my guests were checked in quickly and easily. Our experience with all the staff on this busy Saturday afternoon was amazing. All of our guests left happy and with memorable moments. Thank you once again to the staff at Southland Leisure Centre, and especially to Faven, Brook and Alyssa. You’re all great representatives and the centre should be proud to have you on the team!

Expérience négative: I'm aware that Calgary had a main water break so everyone is conserving water where then can. I get it but the change rooms are dirty and just plain disgusting. In one of the family change room it smelled like urine. Floors are grubby and dirty, In the gym, because of the lack of water, there's no towels to wipe the equipment down, yet I didn't see one staff member in there ensuring that the paper towels were supplied to help clean the equipment off. Yet, there's signs everywhere asking people to clean the equipment. I got to use the equipment which was fine, the gym itself has enough equipment but it felt crammed and confined. After I left the gym, I did let the front desk know the condition of the gym and the change rooms. I'm very highly disappointed in the price I paid, to get the lack of service for the building. Definitely, all the "cleaning" rules during COVID doesn't apply to the water main break. It makes me wonder if they should be open if they aren't into cleaning.

Expérience positive: They have alot of showers, including large showers for disabled people. I was very impressed with their womens change room. The only problem they dont open till noon. Water walking at 7 am would be a nice addition. And it would attract seniors in the morning who are up at the crack of dawn. THE ONLY THING IS SINCE REOPENING THE WATER IN THE WOMENS,SHOWERS ARE COLD TO LUKE WARM. I have seen people only wet their back before going into the pool. While their children wait for their mom and don't shower at all. Pool is going to get contaminated quickly.

Expérience positive: The pool is a very loud busy place on the weekend. Got there at 1pm when it opened and already a line. Big wave pool, and you feel the waves in all connected water systems. Water was colder than our usual pool. Fun waterslides, but surprise giant dumps of water throughout scared my 4 y o. Better for older kids if not young enough for the infant pool.

This time the lady at the first asked me what I was doing at the gym today I told her I was gonna workout and she said I can’t because of my age and that I need to take a course I said I understood and asked when is the next available course the lady said we do have any at all for the few months bought a membership for 0 reason horrible gym

Expérience positive: Great membership pricing. Gym is pretty good. I would love to see you open Saturday evenings. I'd also like to see you ditch the wristbands, it's wasteful to be throwing these out everytime we come workout.

Expérience négative: Was recently here for a ball hockey game for my sons league. We were in the Ed Whalen rink for the game. The view from the mezzanine is terrible. The netting is so thick that it messes with your vision looking down on the rink below. The bleachers up there are also useless because you can only see down to the rink from the first row. It was also about 35 degrees up there. So we made our way down to the rink side seating instead. The view was much better but it now you can't see the scoreboard. It was a few degrees cooler but still north of 30 degrees in there. All our kids came off the rink at the end soaked in sweat and completely exhausted from having to play in the heat.

Expérience positive: Enjoyed the water slides and length of waves. Life guards were phenomenal. Wish there was more of a warning near the .5 mtr drop beside the low entry steps. This area is very deceiving when stepping in.

Expérience fantastique: This is the ideal pool for kids from 4 to 14. There is a great wave pool with large waves, water slides, spray park, hot tub, diving pool, kiddie pool and more. I highly recommend this for families.

Expérience positive: Wish it was cleaner in the change rooms. Would change to a 5, but it always seems to be gross in the ladies' change rooms. I know it's a public facility, and that comes with the public. I just think it could be kept up more.

I assume she thought no one was watching but I seen it. Other then that the floors in the family section were kind of gross. Pool was great, kiddy pool was great as well.

Expérience positive: Great for kids swim lessons, experienced coaches. Have big wave pool with slides. Good time spend with family. Also small kids pool is there with hot tub and sauna which is awesome. This centre is located in SE Calgary.

Expérience positive: Love this place but the hours are brutal and they no longer offer childcare for parents to work out. They used to open for family swims at 8am on sat and sun (website still states this) - but now they aren't open until 10am. The lady at the desk blamed covid for this but the rest of the facility is open right now, so why not bring back everything else? Especially the family friendly ones on the weekends (at the very least)???

Expérience positive: The hockey arenas are well-maintained and offer spacious upper viewing areas. The dressing rooms, while not the largest, are still easy to get ready in. We used to frequent the pool when the kids were younger, and it was a great spot for children. While the concession stand is no longer operational, it used to offer delicious fries, among other food options. Finding parking can be challenging, especially during peak hours, so be patient! Overall, this is a busy facility with great amenities

Expérience fantastique: Really busy on Sundays, you may have to wait anywhere between 20-40 minutes before entering the pool. The overall experience is nice, if you go late during the day don't expect clean changing areas. There are lockers to store your personal belongings for 25 cents.

Expérience fantastique: This long-standing heavily utilized facility that is in walking distance of several communities has something for every age group. A monthly pass is an investment that you can't go wrong with. Pool, sauna, weight room, kids play room, fitness classes, courts , I am sure there is something to help you have some fun and keep mobile.

Expérience fantastique: SLC is a great place for the kids to spend the day. When you get your pass, you have access to the centre, we didn’t know that so it was a bit pricey for just swimming, but a great deal if you take advantage of everything. Pool was clean. Staff were extremely pleasant ! Pool was warm, just check if the slides are shut down for activities there, incase that’s one of the reasons your heading to the pool.

Expérience fantastique: An outstanding swimming pool in Calgary, my family loves it especially my little one and recently my husband started playing squash there. The only downside for me is at weekends it's quite difficult to find a parking spot.

Expérience négative: I was first time in this facility and there is no information about lockers that you need to insert ¢25 EVERY TIME you need to close your locker, because it doesn't return your coin. You need to pay for the entrance and also you need to pay for the locker. This is stupid. Also, if you don't have kids and you just want to swim, relax and have fun - this facility is not for you. I spent half an hour (with changing) and went home. Straight disappointment.

Expérience positive: The gym is alright, not enough power racks. The pool is our go to though, definitely the place to go! The hot tub is relaxing and they have a sweet speaker system and always playing good music!

Expérience fantastique: Awesome place for the whole family. Thay have a wave pool, supe tube slides for all ages, baby pools, hot tubes and a sauna. (they even have complimentary life jackets for the little one) There is also another section that I didn't explore which has an ice rink, gymnastics, karate studio. Upstairs they have Physiotherapy studios and an aftercare/ cresh for kid's. Southland Leisure centre is definitely worth a visit.

Expérience négative: Very disappointed in the poor care and respect this facility has for young kids learning to skate. They would prefer a child lays on the ice unable to move then let them use a pusher. The excuse that it is public skating vs family skating is a ridiculous notion. And to use the excuse that someone can get hurt if a small child is using a pusher is even more poorly thought of. A rink full of little kids laying all over the ice is far more dangerous. Furthermore, the dangers of dislocating a child's hands or arms when holding them is greatly increased rather then them using a pusher which has been proven to be a much safer method to learn on. Please review this poor policy and open your doors to younger kids, as that is the generation that will keep comming back and skating.

Expérience positive: PLS CHANGE THE ADMISSION SYSTEM! I go here just to use the gym and I buy the monthly rec pass, but for some reason instead of just letting you scan your card on the way in like a normal gym, they make you wait in line so they can put a wristband on you. This is super frustrating, because sometimes there will be huge lines of kids buying passes to go to the pool and you wait so long just so you can scan your card. I really really wish they would change this, because the gym is actually super nice, but if they don’t I’m going to anytime fitness before summer so I don’t have to wait in a 20 minute line on hot days☹️ This is such a simple fix, I really don’t know why they haven’t done this.

Expérience positive: Best swimming pool in Calgary for slides. Only downside is they are usually at capacity because they don't have enough lifeguards. (Go early! It fills up fast) And there is always a lineup for the hottub which is always at capacity too. All in all love this place! Been going there my whole life. (30+ years)

Expérience positive: Great leisure centre, kids love the kiddie pool, and that they can go on all of the slides. Only negatives are that the pool is chilly, and that the family change rooms are horribly designed. There aren’t enough for the volume of families and very limited space to maneuver. But we always come back and have a blast.

Expérience fantastique: Totally awesome hot tub nice and hot.. better then any other hot tubs at pools.. even the pool is warm lots to do and many events a family can do
