Expérience négative: The ymca staff weren't following simple directions whether they couldn't understand me they need too have translator because we are aware this is an english/French dominant country this hasn't changed for 150+ years and I had too face banking issues because the YMCA STAFF made an UNAUTHORIZED TRANSACTION then later that Night Charging me for my Membership which I was not informed it was going too be taken out of my bank account later, I was informed I was paying for my membership right there and I even asked too pay for the membership while I was there, 9/10 times when I would use there showers I would come back home with hives and rashes on my feet (Odd enough this is the only gym in town that has happened) i was told they are cleaned every hour but I even asked an employee one day how much it's really cleaned, he told me they aren't cleaned much at all and it's usually pushed towards the end of the night and after I ended asking more employees about the sanitization and only the manager was telling me they where cleaned EVERY HOUR, but some of the actual cleaners informed me otherwise on top of the first cleaner I asked, from the lack of honesty too the borderline fraud this establishment has committed I will go no further in being a member here and will not recommend this facility too anyone

Expérience fantastique: I have been going to the ymca for about a year now and i can definitely say that they are a very welcoming group, are rarely rude and can adress when something goes wrong, ive mostly just went inside the playground gym which is perfect for playimg basket ball as well as other sports such as soccer and hockey but they gym in the upper part of the ymca is a judgement free zone and a place where you can relax and workout. Overall this is a great place for getting into ahae and meeting new friends. 5/5

Expérience négative: I’ve been a member at the Cobourg location now for almost 2 years, and I’m absolutely disgusted by the way they are managing their operations. Tier employees, and management as a collective On September 15th of 2024, I drew the line when a Constable Emmerston of the Cobourg Police not only blocked me from leaving the parking lot, but proceeded to have a lengthy conversation with his boyfriend driving a grey Ford F150 over 30 mins as documented Just to to detain me for an additional 10 minutes while he “checks “ my credentials.. absolutely a disgrace and waste of our taxes! I’ve had a few issues with “Maria” and a one other, embarrassing me and other in front of other customers at check in , singled me out for one reason or another This is ridiculous! For what we pay as members to a PRIVATE CLUB, we should not have to deal with their incompetence I personally am seeking better accommodation ✌️

Expérience fantastique: The Cobourg YMCA has been an absolute saviour to me as a new mum. The Mothers of Newborns program allowed me a free membership for a year plus free daycare hours. They offer baby and mom workout and pool classes that are included as well. Jessica at the drop off daycare is so sweet and caring with the kids. Thank you to all the awesome employees at the Cobourg Y. You all have been lifesavers. X

Expérience négative: Not impressed at all with the YMCA in Cobourg anymore. I put my daughter in their camp, she had a head injury and nobody called me all day - when I picked her up she had a headache and nausea. I put her in swimming lessons, nobody taught her how to tread water they just had her jump in the deep end sputtering with her mouth barely out of the water, which made her lose confidence she took years to build (she's only 5), and caused my husband and I a huge amount of anxiety. Then they had a "lesson" where older kids were throwing balls past the smaller kids' heads while they were jumping into the deep end again, distracting the instructor and lifeguard until one of the mothers in our group complained and made them stop. It was unbelievable really. We were not reimbursed for that class. Her last class we drove back 3 hours from a cottage only to be told it was canceled. No reimbursement there either. The Aquatics Coordinator doesn't seem to care about the waste of time and money. All in all, terrible communication in the camp, terrible customer service in the swimming lessons and my daughter can't think of anything to show my family what she has learned. Complete waste. We are going to Port Hope J.B. instead at this point.

Expérience négative: Don't usually leave reviews but having the men's change room out of commission for more than a week is a little ridiculous. One or two days I could understand. Hopefully fixed next time I attempt...

Expérience négative: Had my daughters birthday there, a lot of employees didn’t know exactly what they were talking about and wasn’t very smart with their knowledge. 2 in half hours also didn’t give much time to do a whole lot for a birthday, we had to ask to have the kids play on the jungle gym as it was included and didn’t have much time as i stated, the kids had a great time which was awesome, but I had also asked one of the employees if they had a FREEZER for an ice cream cake as I wanted to double check, before bringing it. they stated YES they do. But put it in a fridge, I was wondering why it was so soft. After playing for a bit I went and asked them if we can get our ice cream cake as we were leaving, one of the ladies brought it out… just dripping on the floor and melted, we then said we’ll there is no point in bringing it now, because it was completely melted and nothing to it. Why bring it home so it can be a big mess in our car? One of the ladies made a comment stating “just put the lid on it and put it in a freezer and it will freeze right back up” which makes 0 sense as it was already melted? And ice cream cake is not cheap. Won’t be going back to that location again though.

Expérience négative: I'm currently a member. I like the place. I just wish they didn't let the local bums have access to the paying members locker room. I came out of the sauna and a stinky homeless guy was flossing his toes with my towel. The smell made me sick. Another time I went into the shower and a different bum was sitting on the showee floor cross legged rocking back and forth. They shouldn't charge so much money if they want to allow this service to non paying citizens.

During our conversation she did let me know she only started a short while ago so I thought I’d leave you a review because she’s doing amazing! She returned my call so I didn’t need to wait on hold, was thorough, professional and expressed an interest in helping me with my inquiry.

Expérience négative: Their not interested in helping your register they rather pass it off and say do it online even when online things aren't working which is why you called

Expérience positive: Nice, never swam here before but the pool always smells clean, I use the gym and it’s great, the change rooms are clean too.

Expérience négative: me and my two children went so they could play in the play place and there was an aggressive child there that scratched them and grabbed one by the hood and choked them and when we told the front desk they did nothing to help. overall horrible experience never going back to such a dangerous place

Expérience fantastique: The staff are great and very helpful. The workout room are very functional and the equipment is well maintained, the rest is up to you.

Expérience fantastique: The gym is well equipped with tons of different weight machines, free weights, resistance bands. Cardio machines are mostly treadmills and ellipticals but there are also a few bikes, stairmills, rowing machines, and a handbike. Downstairs there's a spinning room with spinning bikes. Classes I've attended are very good. Staff are super friendly and helpful. They let you cancel your membership at any time and they put my membership on hold for covid, no questions asked.

Expérience fantastique: Great staff that are kind an patient. I don't know how I would have made it through my sons younger years without it. The early years and children's programming is amazing ❤

Expérience négative: Totally awful employees. Low information employees are incredibly rude and belligerent. I saw them call the cops because a 65-year-old man let his mask slip below his nose. When cancelling membership they will make you wait months for a refund when they are happy to charge up front. Awful, awful people. Would NEVER recommend that anyone ever go to this location. Nothing Christian about the place, at all!

Expérience positive: We are members a the Cobourg YMCA. The work-out area is decent. The timing for their classes never works out because I work full time so I can't comment on those. The change rooms are old (the family one is fairly new but has inadequate exhaust fans so it's always moist and moldy) and need updating but the redeeming feature is definitely the steam room. My kids love the hot tub after swim lessons because yes, the pool is incredibly cold - so cold that I've bought wetsuits for my kids during lessons. The play structure is very fun. The staff is friendly.

Expérience positive: Im new to cobourg and during a cold spell i took my child here for a day of activities. Ive been to many Y's . Im giving this 3 stars because the staff is great, however. . The facilities itself is kind decrepit. The pool is freezing ! Even the lifeguards were wearing sweaters. The roof leaks like crazy and its a little expensive. I paid 33$ for myself, wife and 5 yrs old. When we were leaving the clerk at the front counter gave us a free 2 week membership. Gee.... thx, i could have used that on my way in 2 hrs ago

Expérience négative: Went to take my little one to the indoor playground it was 9am and was turned away because it did not open until 11am. Most parents of young children are up at 5-6 am. This was very disappointing probably will not come back, with hours of business like that does not work for our schedule.
