Woodstock Gymnastics Club

Expérience fantastique: Our family has done 2 years with this program and love LOVE the program! It's not competitive which is a plus but keeps the kids active and building their own skills at an individual level. Grateful for the adults who provide this opportunity for our community. :)

Expérience négative: I wanted to love Woodstock Gymnastics and my kids had a good time but there are a couple things to consider: - some of the instructors seemed too young to be able to handle the group of kids they were given. With this they also were not going over proper/ safe technique (ex. Not telling kids to tuck chin when doing rolls so kids kept getting hurt). They also had trouble managing kids who couldnt listen or follow instruction. - there is no where to watch your child other than the small viewing window that can only sit 10 people/ the rest have to stand behind and you cant really see anything. - I felt uneasy that for a portion of the session they bring each group to a back smaller room to do activities but you cant see your child / dont know what they are doing. After all of the SA/ sexual abuse stuff in gymnastics across NA this made me nervous (although this gym has not had that) -there is no competitive teams and as a result a lot of the good coaches go to gyms with competitive teams.

Expérience positive: I WANT to love Woodstock Gymnastics SO much. The programs and Instructors are amazing. The young kids are handled with kindness and compassion, and their energy and spirit is highly supported! The parent culture is a barrier for us that might stop us from being back. With only about 15 prime viewing spots, many families bring many loved ones. Both parents, Grandparents, siblings and friends take these spaces up, often as few as 6 or 7 families taking all of the best viewing spots for sessions that have over 30 kids registered. If you don't have the privilege of arriving significantly early (I can't get there earlier than 15 minutes before class but have never had a seat at the window), you're stuck trying to see over heads, standing or sitting on the floor. I also see a lot of parents taking video and photos - which feels uncomfortable considering how many small kids are in the space in swimsuit like attire. I understand there are no hard rules against this, but I also don't love that strangers have photos and video of my young kid on their phones doing gymnastics. I don't know where these photos end up, and I realize I'm over protective, but I am not taking any footage of other people's kids in sessions like this - even if they are just in the background etc. I think kids should have the right to privacy from being put on the Internet in spaces like this. I know some other gyms have tightly held policies around this, and will have to consider that in the future! Overall if you don't plan to watch your kid, or you aren't concerned about their internet presence, this is absolutely a great spot. The club is great and the instruction is top notch. I recognize they are not entirely responsible for the parent culture in the viewing space, but unfortunately it impacts our experience and isn't a right fit for everyone!

Expérience fantastique: Excellent facility! Amazing programs. Highly recommend. Been doing different gymnastics programs no one beats the Woodstock Facility. Little pricey worth the money.
