Expérience positive: I have moved to Argentina but I did not want to stop thanking this place that gave me the experience of being able to train with very suitable people. I also thank Maria DeBiasio (employee in the maintenance area of the gym) who made things go from grey to sparkly white since she arrived (in terms of cleaning and maintenance of the place).
Expérience négative: Inflated price for what it is. Too busy and bad layout for the equipment- way too many cardio machines that nobody uses leaving everyone waiting in line. Far better gyms in the area.

Expérience fantastique: Fantastic vibe at this gym - all the members are courteous and will let you work in if you want to use a certain machine. A huge stand out is Jill, one of the Spin instructors. I have done many Spin classes in my life, and Jill is by far the best - I look forward to her Tuesday class each week. Kam and Michaela at the front desk are always kind and professional as well. It's definitely worth the price if you take advantage of all the perks this gym has to offer.
Expérience positive: I recently cancelled my membership at Equinox after being a member for about a year and a half. My reasons for cancelling seem to be a recurring theme for this gym after reading the reviews. In short, there are plenty of other gyms in the city that offer a better and more luxurious experience for a lower amount than Equinox. After working out in the NYC and Chicago locations, I quickly learned that Toronto definitely got a “gold painted turd” version of the brand. My experience in the U.S. locations was far better than the Yorkville location. For a gym that is supposed to offer a high end experience it is absolutely baffling that they have a lack of weight machines (1 Smith Machine!?!?) and an abundance of treadmills. You constantly have to fight to get a place at some of the machines which make your workouts feel rushed and ineffective. The upkeep could also be better. There was a chest machine that was broken for almost three months and all that needed to be replaced was the back cushion. I have also experienced some of the worst customer service here but was happy to hear that some of those employees got dismissed and a lot of their new staff are much better so I was pleased to see that they made an effort to improve those issues. On the positive, Sam the GM is a great guy and does his best to try to keep you happy and rectify any issues. He is very approachable and is always chatting with members when he’s in. The trainers, for the most part, are also great and very kind. They are not intimidating like they can be in most gyms are very respectful to all members and not just their clients. I would definitely recommend their trainers to anyone looking to take their workouts to the next level. Maddy, Alex, Richie and Owen in particular are all great and have a deep clientele. I also very much enjoyed the playlists they play in both the change-room and gym floor. Quite rare for a gym so whoever is curating that, good job! Ultimately, I decided to cancel because it’s just not worth the price and there’s an Altea opening up nearby that offers a better experience at a lower price. I suspect a lot of members will jump ship once they open. It was not hard for me at all to cancel since I’ve been a member for over a year, they send you an email to confirm and that’s it, quite painless.
Expérience fantastique: I gave a three-star review about the upkeep of this club previously, but I love the yoga teacher here named Marla! This is just for her and her class. The only reason I go here during the weekend instead of the Bay Street club. (along with the dance teacher Tuch! You guys deserve 10 stars out of 5!)
Expérience positive: This one is my weekend gym, with Bay Street location being my weekday gym. The vibe and feeling I get in this club is very different from the one I get from the Bay Street location. The theme of the interior design of this club is somewhat along the lines of "bright, white, and modern", or that of a "pure, white iPhone" kinda feel, but for that kind of design theme, it requires a lot of upkeep. Unfortunately what I have been witnessing is not enough upkeep but rather a lot of room for improvement. Dented and scratched (fake) wooden surfaces, rusty and loose bathroom/shower fixtures, and sometimes lack of hygiene. If you're not confident about keeping up with the maintenance, maybe switch the lighting so it looks kind of like Bay location? (Darker space doesn't require as much cleaning and maintenance, you know)

Expérience négative: I was a member here for 3 years, believe me when I say this gym is not worth your money. 1. The clientele (as you would expect) is horrible. Entitlement everywhere you look and most members here have no respect for anyone but themselves (ex. Hogging machines, lack of hygiene, and RUDE). Also not to mention that the gym is so overcrowded now. 2. You’d think for $250 a month the gym would be clean…. Nope! Its often filthy throughout. I’ve seen TRAINERS walking around barefoot, touching mats and equipment with their feet! I’ve also countless times reached for a cold towel only to find a loose hair attached to it. The locker room also smells bad half the time. 3. Virtually no customer service. Once they get you signed up they don’t care. I have brought issues with the gym to management multiple times and never heard a thing. They don’t care. I’m sure equinox will respond to my review here, lol, but thats just an illusion. I could go on forever about issues with this place honestly. Don’t join. I cannot wait for the day that Equinox leaves yorkville and is replaced with a gym that actually cares.

Expérience positive: Did a class with my friend as a guest! I would say 4.5 stars! The class was really fun and the yoga room is really sunny, so great if you love sun during yoga class, but the view would be gorgeous at night. Members can get validated parking which is such a bonus. Lady at desk was fast, kind, and efficient! Absolutely stunning change room/washroom facilities with lots of products!

Expérience négative: This gym is not worth your money. The machines are similar to Goodlife with a bro culture where they keep the machines to themselves and stay there for 10mins. The classes are meh, the instructors won't correct you if you have bad form or anything. The personal trainer I worked with seemed inexperienced.

Expérience négative: The handheld shower hose in men’s handicap stall has been broken (loose and leaking) for several months now. It had been reported to the front desk multiple times. How much longer are you guys planning to keep the facility in this sub-par under maintenance stage while continue charging us members over $200/month? Do you need us to start a crowdfunding to have it fixed?

Expérience négative: I had one time visit for tour for this location. It was good facility for cardio and some weigh workout. However group class schedule was not working out with my schedule and spinning class quality did not meet my expectation. So I decided to pursue other options. However, I was going to give good rating until I received my phone bill. somehow this contact person used US number and I got charged international msg fee for $10. If sales person is working in Canada, please use local number. You should not make your potential client to pay to communicate with you.

Expérience positive: Very clean, boutique gym with updated equipment and nice classes but showing a steady decline in quality over the years despite increasing membership costs. Have been a member since 2021 and have recently cancelled my membership for a number of issues I’ll detail below. However in terms of the positives (of which there are many), this gym is extremely nice and very clean compared to most other gyms in the city, and the staff (both the front desk staff) and the cleaning staff are just wonderful and super friendly. The classes, especially the HIIT and Pilates classes are really well done and the instructors are great- the only issue is- at the Bay Street location, the studios are a bit smaller and classes can get very overcrowded; I’ve not seen this at Yorkville. Lastly, the equipment is all modern, and well kept. Broken machines are fixed quickly, and nothing looks like it’s wearing down. In terms of the negatives, one thing that is happening is the crowding. While this wasn’t an issue during and immediately post COVID, now the gym becomes extremely crowded after work around 6-7. It’s of course still not at the level of somewhere like a Goodlife but given that there are only 2 locations in Toronto, and likely no caps on membership, I don’t anticipate this getting any better unless they open up another location. As you might imagine, some of the clientele here aren’t the friendliest, especially when it comes to sharing a machine or bench, which compounds the problem. Another thing is that while coat check is a service they offer in the winter time, more and more often there is no one staffing the desk, and as a result, you cannot actually check your coat but have to stuff it in a locker along with your other winter gear. While the service here was really top notch at the beginning of my membership, now more and more- you’ll notice things like empty soap dispensers, no paper towels, and no towels at all for the shower at times. I imagine this is due to the demands of trying to meet a busier and larger clientele base with limited staff, but again I think this is unlikely to improve. While these may sound like frivolous things, they are built into the cost of membership and I think should be accounted for. The troubling thing is that despite these declines, the membership cost has increased twice since I’ve joined, adding not an insignificant amount to the already high monthly costs of this place. For these reasons, although I’ve enjoyed my time at this gym, I think now there are likely better options around the city for a much cheaper or comparable cost. I will say- to the others who have had issues cancelling their membership- I had no problems at all cancelling mine (and it was very easy) given that after you fulfill your 1 year contract, it’s as simple as sending in an email. For those trying to cancel within the year, obviously in order to break the contract you sign, there are certain stipulations you’d have to adhere to. I do think however, the requirement for a doctor’s note in these situations, is a bit dated.

Expérience négative: Update: due to their bait and switch membership tactics. We agreed that I was going to cancel my membership free of charge. And today I was just charged for next month membership even though Julian told me he was cancelling without any penalty. Total scam experience with Kassandra Borne and Julian Illagan and Sam Del Grande in membership. BEWARE of this location. They promised me better rates and then didn’t honour them after having me leave a GREAT corp rate. Also FROZE my membership, had written confirmation and then was charged. Had to chase that refund. What’s worse is the lack of professionalism, many many emails unreturned and false promises. Said they would honour the quoted rate, never did. They will quote you with tax and then conveniently add tax later. Reporting them to the BBB. Currently paying more than I was paying for a significantly more limited membership. Hope making that quota was worth it guys.

Expérience fantastique: 100% worth the money! I’ve had nothing but positive experiences at this gym. The manager, Leyla, made the registration process sooo easy and answered all of my (many) questions. The front desk staff, especially Lauren, are really nice and make you feel welcomed! The classes and the showers are *chefs kiss*! I loved the barre class taught by Jamie and the yoga class taught by Justin. I will 100% be a regular in those classes. The only downside is the parking validation is only for 2 hours max so if I’m doing a workout and a class after, I have to drive my car out of the parking garage and back which is inconvenient but even the employees at equinox have to do this so it is what it is. I’d still prefer Yorkville over Bay Street though because Bay Street doesn’t even have parking at all.

Expérience négative: I joined Equinox just under a year ago, and overall really liked the classes and location of the gym. I recently moved and it takes me about 30 minutes to get to the gym. They told me I can only cancel if a) I've moved 30km away and they require proof of relocation or b) with a doctors note. Otherwise I have to pay a cancellation fee + 30 days notice. It definitely feels like poor customer service, and they make it extremely difficult for you to leave so this is something you should read through in your contract before signing on.

Expérience négative: Pros: You don't have to wait long for equipment (usually), lots of classes if you're into that, cold towels are a perk Cons: Towels run out at peak time. Locker room products often run out. The hot water regularly goes off. There's a fly infestation in the mens showers that is apparently an "issue with the building". It's been an issue for a long time and clearly won't be getting resolved any time soon.

Expérience négative: I decided to cancel my membership and management refused to cancel unless I paid for a month ahead. I was held hostage for months with them deducting from my account as they refused to cancel my account or communicate over the phone with me. I called several times to be answered by "Opps, sorry I missed you" emails from Perkins. I brought this concern up to Sam Delgrande and it was forwarded for Perkins to deal with and I was gaslit in her response. Whatever the policy Equinox has, the staff that works there are inhuman.Please don't be disillusioned by Kiehls product and Eucalyptus towels. Join another gym that is worth the money and who will treat you with dignity. There are endless reviews here with similar concerns. Once upon a time Equinox was a great place to gym. It is now a place that provides subpar classes that are constantly hard to book, regular machines you can find anywhere else and no customer service. Update: promised a refund, refunded 1/3 of the amount I should have received. They are thieves. point blank...read the other reviews where people have struggled to cancel as well. Its a frustrating experience and there is no point in letting concierge know...they won't do anything

After not getting a response for two weeks (with follow ups), i called again and they told me to email Are you kidding me, the customer service is beyond horrible. Expérience négative: Be careful if you're thinking about getting a membership here! My purse was stolen from my locked locker in the changeroom over 3 weeks ago. I've been restlessly trying to get in contact with the staff there about the situation, but they have been extremely unresponsive in their emails. The customer service is not what you would expect for a supposedly "luxury" gym.

Expérience négative: I wanted to experience the luxury gym as it is described but the only luxury about this gym is it has just better shower than Goodlife Fitness. The gym equipments are nearly same as the equipments in the Goodlife. There are too many people in the gym that I could barely use any equipment, not only in peak hours but most of the time. Expérience positive: Used to love here, but there are tooooo many people now. Especially for the barre class. It’s hard to book one even 1 day in advance. I literally pay 220 cad per month to get an email says unfortunately, we were unable to move you off the waitlist. I think the club should stop singing up new members and try to provide a better service for current members. The clases are fantastic, that’s the reason why I loved this gym. But if I can’t even successfully book the classes, then it’s not worth it. Now I think the gym is OVERPRICED!! I’d rather go to other gyms with lower membership fees.

Expérience fantastique: My personal experience is amazing in this gym! Everyone has been super friendly to me and its much different from all the gyms I’ve been to before! Overall it is 100% worth it!! I’m not sure if the gym itself is more amazing or the people in it! Especially my trainer Sina! He has been an inspiration and a great mentor to me and all the people around. Ever since I have met this guy I have been training really hard and improving myself. Expérience négative: Beyond disappointed with this gym. They brought up a ‘1 year commitment’ when I attempted to cancel my subscription as it was nowhere near what was advertised. I made it clear when signing up that I wanted to try it out short-term to see if I could work it around my schedule, and yet nobody informed me about this commitment. Again, this gym is far from what is advertised and is shown to new customers.

Expérience négative: I joined a few days ago but have decided not to go ahead with the annual membership and have cancelled as they allow a 10 day cooling off period when you first join. Way too busy : the gym is really really busy during peak hours so basically it is no different than going to Goodlife, Hone or many other gyms that cost 1/4 of the price except you get fancy soaps and moisturizers in the bathroom. Short staffed: I had to wait several times for a towel as well which was frustrating experience. classes not bad : Perhaps this gym makes sense if you take the classes as I took one class and quite liked it. other than that I think they should stop taking new members for a while as the gym is way too busy during peak times and for the price you should really have a comfortable workout experience. Many members I talked to also felt trapped in their memberships so it seems that morale is low all around and the owners are not doing anything about it.

Expérience négative: If only there was an option for a Negative rating!! Equinox Gym has extremely poor customer service. The staff is unresponsive and unhelpful, and it was a nightmare trying to freeze or cancel my membership. I was charged multiple times for fees, and getting a refund took a lot of effort. I would not recommend this gym due to the abysmal customer service.
Expérience fantastique: I have had nothing but positive experiences at this gym. The front desk staff, class trainers and concierge have all made me feel very welcome. I had to cancel my membership as I will be moving and the cancellation process was so smooth I was blown away. I love the towel service, steam room, hygiene products, validated parking and lockers that you don't need to bring your own lock for. As for gym equipment they have everything I need and I've never had to wait that long to use equipment. Does it get busy at peak hours? Yes, like every other gym. Is it pricey? Yes but its obviously a luxury gym in a very nice part of the city. I would recommend equinox to anyone who could afford it.

Expérience négative: Came for a trial for 3 days. We were not informed that we need to register for classes and couldn’t attend any classes. My boyfriend used the towel and has got cold sores since then. We called to complain about the towel issue to ensure no one else gets infected. We were told they do not use any detergent or cleaning solution but, just wash the towels in water. Clearly people have infections and diseases and their towels can infect anyone. The employees at the front desk were also not very helpful. Bad customer service.

Expérience fantastique: Equinox is an incredible luxury Gym, my favourite in the city. Many of our company team members come here and loves it as well. AmaZing friendly team and amenities. Towel service, beautiful change room, showers and steam rooms. From the front end team, to the trainers, cleaning staff, and Amie at the Equinox shop the service is on point. Love the ample seating to do my calls/ work. Smoothie bar is 10/10. Highly recommend Equinox. Great energy, great crowd.

There are very limited fitness classes throughout the week - and popular classes such as Bala Bangle are always booked up fast.

Expérience fantastique: Everything is clean, everyone is nice, and smells hygienic, unlike some other gyms. Products available in the change rooms are top notch, it’s like a mini spa experience as a reward after a good gym session. The classes are excellent. My favourites are yin yoga, cycle beats, metcon3, and stronger. Makes it a great experience to come to the gym when you always feel like it’s a treat.

Expérience fantastique: Love the classes and the personal training. Mark McNicol has been especially great - would recommend as PT, particularly for those interested in boxing. Pushes me out of my comfort zone while making sure I’m strong enough to handle each challenge. He also makes efforts to keep our work outs fresh, and builds difficulty intuitively with reasonable pace. His program has certainly been the highlight of my membership at equinox this thus far.

Expérience fantastique: Joined recently. Great personal training experience so far with Mark McNicol. He’s always prepared and ready to go. Motivating, encouraging and very detailed when it comes to proper technique. Always pushing you just that tiny bit further than you think you can go.

Expérience fantastique: I love this gym. The facilities are always clean, the staff is super friendly and attentive and the are always lots of equipment available to use. I also appreciate the fact that you can grab coffee or a smoothie on your away out. Great place!
Expérience négative: I was a member as soon as it opened for about five years. I left because there was a steady decline in the level of customer service. More importantly, I also found the group fitness instructors decline in their level of skill. Sadly, the manager of group fitness was inexperienced and not open to feedback. It was a typical corporate American company.
Expérience fantastique: I've been coming here for a few months. There are over 70 cardio machines, and even when it is busy, it never feels crowded. Staff are constantly cleaning. The eucalyptis towels are to die for, and the toiletries are high quality. I enjoy coming here. It does not compare to other gyms. Worth the extra $$.

Expérience négative: Save for the parking and classes with great instructors, this club needs a lot of work. Staff is frequently rude, non responsive, and makes false promises. The facilities need desperate maintenance and upkeep and are ignored for months at a time. Cleanliness is frequently lacking. There is mould build up in the products in the showers and limescale build up in the water fountains. The ripped floor mat in the picture has been that way for more than 6 months with no plans for replacement. Equipment for classes is always at a shortage. Many times classes scheduled do not have instructors present. The soap dispensers, faucets and paper towel dispensers are not automated and the club has no plans of automating it. Overall disappointing.

And I called it again and they told me they didn’t get record that I ask to cancel. I asked them why they don’t record the phone call and they just don’t know what to say. I try to speak the general manager and she can’t solve any problems for me. She asked me for the evidence but they don’t record the phone call. This gym is just non sense and try to rob customer’s money. Never go to this trash gym again. All the staff don’t know what they should do. It’s better to train the staff again. Also NEVER find personal trainer here. They won’t help u. They just try to let u rely on them so that they can have lesson all the time. It’s better to work out by yourself.

Expérience négative: There is nowhere to get a bottle of water or drink other than the IQ foods outlet they have in the front - which is not open for many hours the gym is. They also only sell eska water and nothing else - no sports drinks or anything. I have been sharing with managers and membership advisors ever since I joined about getting a vending machine for the members here, as dealing with the lineup at IQ, the fact that they ask for a tip when you just want a bottle of water and the limited hours all make it very frustrating. It would be very easy to install a vending machine but they do not seem responsive.
Expérience fantastique: I love this club. The equipment is wonderful, and no meat market yucky feel. Everything is laid out nicely, beautiful low lit lighting, bright fresh wall colours and in the midst of a big change. Since Eqinox has taken over things have only improved. The classes are Amazing, and such a wide variety to choose from. The instructors are equally amazing. Free underground parking is brilliant, seeing as Toronto now has 7 months of Winter, and once your finished your work out, you can shop Wholefood..... or...TNT.....or anywhere in Yorkville, another great perk, the location.
Expérience fantastique: Best gym in the city. Great facilities, a lot of variety of classes and very knowledgeable instructors. Really well run. If you get a chance try a class from Victoria, Mark and/or Al.

Expérience fantastique: Equinox Yorkville is a comfortable, neat and well-equipped gym. The staff are friendly and helpful, because they treat me sincerely. Equinox also offers antimicrobial eucalyptus towels and the smell is so calming. And I love this essential oil smell! I can see the transformation of my body shape within two months. I highly recommend my trainer Aiden, he is a nice, interesting and detail-oriented person. I am very surprised to see the growth of my strength in this short period of time. In the past, I like cardio more than strength training. However, Aiden is very smart and insightful, and he is really good at leading and motivating me. Also sparked my interest in strength training. In addition, Aiden is paying attention to every single detail. A right working out posture is very important for leading a great result. Sometimes, just doing half the work with double results. One thing I learned from Aiden is that I need to work hard and also work smart.
Expérience positive: I only went in for a tour. The reception area is nicely decorated with large airy space and a few nice open offices for the membership mangers. The actual workout area is reasonable, agian, mostly large open spaces. Separate group class, yoga, free weights, cardio and etc rooms. The cardio space is jamed really full for some reason. I went in at 10 am on a Thursday, it was not very busy. The men's change room is decent size, with a handful of showers and a steam room, no sauna or hottubs. I give it 3 stars, mainly because I don't belive it's worth the price. Our old club in the downtown core had a lot more offering and more amenities and tons of reciprocal benefits (such as the use of a hotel pool), for a lower monthly fee. Frankly, good life in the area offers most of the services for a third of the price.
Expérience positive: The gym is okay but the customer service is not good at all. It's very difficult to ask for a tax invoice for the membership fee they charge. I have been trying to get in touch with a supervisor for that. I thought getting a bill/invoice is a basic right when you make a purchase. Edit - updated my review. They have been pretty helpful in freezing my membership for a month as I got sick and couldn’t workout. Edit 2- Bumping up the stars once more. I am loving the perks (free guest passes). And the classes I’m taking at least twice a week are very good!

Double charged every member in December and have yet to refund. This is the 2nd occasion I’ve been overcharged. Staff takes months to resolve issues. I can only imagine the hassle it would be to cancel one’s membership. If you’re going to sign up for this gym, pay by credit card so you can chargeback or cancel your card when they try to scam you.

I Had to give my info and email prior to getting access, and have since received so many unsolicited emails after asking to be unsubscribed. It's annoying. The facility itself is clean but with not a lot of equipment compared to cheaper alternatives.
Expérience fantastique: Best gym to workout at in Yorkville. I used to go to Goodlife but find it crowded and stressful after a long day in the office. Equinox is where I go to relax, exercise and recharge. Great for making new connections with smart people, gym is spotless, change rooms are the best in the city. Highly recommended.

Expérience fantastique: A private club at Yorkville Centre (also known as Hazelton Lanes) with easy access to Avenue Road and to the mall. 2 hour free parking in the underground parking of the mall is offered to all members. The club has a large weights section, cardiovascular, yoga, plates, spinning and other classes. They also have a "spa" offering massage therapy. The club has 3 floors with most classes taking place on the lower level and the cardiovascular machines and weights on the top floor with ample natural light from the glory to ceiling windows on the Avenue Rd side. The locker room (with full time attendants) offers Keihl's products including shampoo, conditioner, facial soap, bodywadh, body and facial lotions, hair spray, deodorant, shaving cream and disposable razors. Self service racks of regular size and bath towels. MANY qualified personal trainers and helpful reception "greeters". All employees wear a uniform. The club has a fully stocked coffee shop with lounge seating (as well as one large common table) and a sport clothing store (both with easy street axcess). The mall has a great "food court" and the best Whole Food supermarket in Toronto.
