Expérience négative: Worst gym ever. When I first joined, the sales person pushed me a bit too aggressively to get the personal trainer package. The personal trainer was absolutely crap. She didn’t help me with any of the things I wanted help with, she just showed me some balancing stretches for 5 DAYS STRAIGHT what a waste of time and money. Then their incompetent front desk workers didn’t cancel my membership when I asked them to and charged me for an extra month. And then when I called to let them know about this mistake, they took no accountability or action to help me resolve. Absolutely the worst branch of goodlife! Never going back to this gym. Fit4less is better

Expérience fantastique: I had the pleasure of doing today's (Oct 8, 2024) Combat class with Emily. She killed it. Execution, energy, timing and instruction were on point. Things that i particularly pay attention to as a former instructor. Thanks for an awesome sweat dripping workout!

Expérience négative: Be cautious before committing to their long-term programs! I had a terrible experience with GoodLife Fitness. I had a personal training subscription for a year (this is their minimum commitment program). During a session with PT, Daniel Nazar, I suffered a serious injury—two ligament tears in my ankle—due to poor instructions and lack of proper guidance. After the injury, I immediately requested to cancel my subscription, but they were asking me to pay a cancellation penalty. I began going back and forth with their head office, trying to resolve the issue and cancel without paying a cancellation penalty. Despite being injured, they continued to charge my bank account, claiming they couldn’t pause the payments because I had requested cancellation. After six weeks of my request, when I finally decided to end the back-and-forth and pay the cancellation fee just to move on, they refused to deduct the payments they had already charged me while I was unable to use the gym. In the end, I was forced to not only pay the cancellation penalty but also for six weeks of the subscription while I was injured and unable to use any services! The lack of care and understanding from the branch management, Brian O'Keeffe, was shocking. I would highly recommend reconsidering any commitment to their personal training program as they seem more interested in taking your money than ensuring your well-being.

Expérience fantastique: There are two people who work here who are an absolute joy to interact with. One is named Gee, and the other is Sachet. The only reason I keep coming back to this place is because of them! I definitely recommend it. Gee helped us get our subscription up and running and always checks in to see if we need anything, whether it's improving our form on a particular exercise or something related to life in general. That recognition makes both me and my wife feel welcome. As for Sachet, he was my trainer, and I hope to work with him long-term in the future. He is extremely kind and knowledgeable.

Expérience fantastique: GoodLife Fitness offers a life changing experience for me. By working out regularly there, I’m feeling much healthier and fit. The gym caters to most age groups and noticeably solo members seem to be very comfortable working out at this location. Members are generally very respectful of the surrounding. The new renovation is a welcomed improvement. New equipment placements make better sense for ease of use. The two young ladies at the front desk are rays of sunshine - always acknowledging one’s presence with a big smile! Suzie the cleaner is one of the most hardworking staff there, on top of her pleasant personality. Mike, the personal trainer, is a true professional with a great manners. On the whole, staff are friendly there. I believe a little smile goes a long way. After a good workout, one is greeted with “Have a good one!” on the way out. Keep up the good work!

Expérience négative: DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE! I rarely write reviews, but my experience at this location has compelled me to share my thoughts. If you're considering joining this fitness center, I urge you to think twice! First of all, the professionalism of the staff—particularly the personal trainers—is severely lacking. I found myself paired with a trainer who seemed inexperienced and unprepared for our sessions. It felt more like a chore for them than a commitment to my fitness journey. Communication has been another major issue. Good luck trying to reach out to management for complaints or assistance. It’s incredibly frustrating to invest time and money into a place that doesn’t deliver on its promises. Overall, my experience at this gym has been overwhelmingly negative. Save your money and look elsewhere—there are plenty of fitness centers that actually care about their clients and provide the quality service they promise. P.S. Don't be misled by their comments on the reviews—they were no help at all. The fitness manager, Brian, was particularly unhelpful and did not even bother to care about my concerns.

Expérience fantastique: The true highlight for me here is the personal trainer staff. Since my first assessment, I was heard and I truly felt something was being built for me, although keeping the standards and the overall program GoodLife follows. Tammy opens up my eyes to a different way of handling "going to the gym" and paired me with one of the most amazing personal trainers I ever had, Kohei. Actually, even when Kohei was off on vacations, Gian replaced him and it was super helpful and attentive. I joined the gym to take care of my mental health above everything else, and I am very happy with some of the results I've been identifying over the last 8-9 months. Kudos to Kohei, once again, because he has been the most patient, supportive, understanding personal trainer ever and that made all the process of "going to the gym" way easier and almost expected. And for that, I thank him, and the whole crew at the GoodLife at 137 Yonge St. Re facilities, I liked them. They do seem brand new, and there's always improvements happening. Although I am not the biggest users of lockers, washrooms, etc., the areas I usually go, three or four times a week, are pretty great, and the equipment, quite decent.

Expérience fantastique: I can't recommend my coach Kohei enough! I came to him struggling with persistent lower back pain after long workdays, and his approach has made a world of difference. He's incredibly friendly, patient, and knowledgeable, taking the time to understand my issues and tailor a program specifically for me. Expérience fantastique: Training with Kohei at this GoodLife location the past three months has been fantastic. He is an incredibly knowledgeable, kind and motivating trainer, and I look forward to training with him every day it is on my schedule. Kohei truly cares about seeing client progress and has strong kinesiological and nutritional knowledge. He is a competitive natural bodybuilder to boot, meaning he is experienced in pushing his body to its limits. Don’t be intimated by this though. Kohei has helped target my specific mobility issues and get past certain roadblocks I’ve been hitting at the gym, and I’m know he can help different kinds of people at different levels. Thanks to Kohei I’ve been seeing results, and I am the strongest I’ve ever been!

Kohei is an incredible trainer who truly cares about his clients’ progress. He is knowledgeable, motivational, and always finds a way to make each session challenging and fun. Expérience fantastique: I used to hate going to any gym, until I joined this GoodLife a year ago. I've been that one girl who would find any gyms I've been to intimidating. But with this GoodLife, it has completely opened up my world and I've since learned to enjoy the fun of exercising. I no longer find gym intimidating -- This GoodLife location is so welcoming where I feel safe and accepted. People are very respectful here. I see a lot of smiles around and the environment feels inclusive for anyone/everyone. All their staffs are super nice. I don't feel judged for how I look or the awkward postures I make. I receive help from staffs/other gym members when I didn't know how to use a certain equipment. There's a strong vibe of encouragement in the air. I just love how easy going and positive this space is. I no longer find gym awful -- This location is clean and spacious with a great layout. Traffic flow within this gym is nice, never feel crowded nor the need to wait forever for your turn to use a certain equipment. There's a lot of cleaning supplies around and I've observed people are respectful and clean after usage. The machines and equipments are quite new as well. I may be biased, but I do think they have good personal trainers on site. Perhaps I am lucky, but I've been matched with probably the best personal trainer I could ever ask for (shout out to Winston!) who is capable of meeting me at where I am at, not afraid of my resistance, embrace my fear, handle my prejudice with compassion, and being able to assign the right amount of challenges without making me feel discouraged. Rather than a one-size-fit-all approach, or simply "push to the max", he gets to know me as a person, and customized a workout plan exactly for my need.

Expérience négative: THIEF BEWARE My husband wedding necklace and other valuables were stolen this morning in the locker room. Thief actually broke open the padlock. Was hanging around the room to wait for target. I really hope there is compensation for the lost valuables, since nothing can replace our wedding symbol. Will not renew my PT and subscription for me and my husband after that. There is an expectation of reasonable safety, but the Thief even came in equipped with an implement to destroy padlocks. Looking forward to have this situation solved.

Expérience fantastique: I recently visited Goodlife 137 Yonge St which is currently undergoing renovation, and I was impressed by the progress. Despite the ongoing work, the facility is clean and well-organized. One of the associates,Kass was exceptionally helpful in explaining the membership options and answering all my questions. He was really helpful and friendly which made my experience smooth . I’m looking forward to seeing the completed renovations and starting my membership process!

Expérience fantastique: I'm new to the fitness world, and my experience overall has been 5 stars. I was welcomed by friendly staff since my very first visit. After enrollment, they followed up with me asking for feedback and being willing to address my questions and concerns. Since I'm learning many things and I have many questions, I can assure you that by any chance Calum always puts himself open to answer all my questions very kindly and friendly, detangling how to use machines, replying to my emails, and being very supportive helping me to engage on this world avoiding injuries. Also, Daniel, the one who provided my first workout assessment was the most respectful, and empathetic PT. Attentive to teach me properly and guide me throughout my goals. The cleaning staff are the sweetest people ever. Front desk staff are great (I had more contact with Monet, KB, and Shamar). I want to express my big thank you to all of you for making my start so pleasant, despite the pain after leg days haha.

All promises made in email after this 1⭐ review were never delivered. *There are construction remains all over in the lower floor of the gym. Been there for months. (photos) *Heavy-duty ️ equipment placed in closed contact so you can easily trip over them. (photos) *The gym is still filled with dust and dirt all over.(Video) *No proper signage posted in the boxing area.(Which was assured by GM over emails.) *Washroom shower stalls over head panels are broken/removed and mouldy. *Arbitrary Rules still apply to you if u don't pay for their extra services, 2 upper brass at this gym(GM) is beyond incompetent. If you want empty words which lack substance/actions you are at the right spot. (Got emails of promises never delivered) *After my 1⭐review there have been similar reviews posted by others. So to combat that there are cards all around the gym indicating to give them 5 stars.(Convenient) 3 these issues are the tip of the iceberg I have enough proof to show preferential treatment for some and total silence for others. *Prime location for a gym with miss management written all over it. Original review--->AVOID AT ALL COST! (First negative reviews ever) Evidence posted. There is a reason why they are the worst gym in Toronto and all negative 1 star reviews get an automated reply- contact us on email that we will ignore as we couldn't care less. STAFF- Rude,unprofessional and unwilling to help. If you are not a model or taking personal training take your business elsewhere. As they will show you how unwelcomed you are every chance they get. With arbitrary rules that will apply to you and not to their other previously mentioned members. EQUIPMENT AND BUILDING. If u can get hold of any equipment here make sure you sterilize it as they for sure not going to. With weights just all over and machines falling apart. Repairs of minor stuff takes at least 6 months sorry a year in some instances. CONSTRUCTION(always) If u wanna experience Gardner like conditions With crammed spaces and feel the construction dust while you workout you are at the right place. PERSONAL EXPERIENCE I use other good life gyms daily. Have personally visited over 15. I have personally never experienced such horrible staff anywhere let alone at a gym. I have visited this gym just on weekends for over 3 +years and have tried my best to ignore their lack of professionalism and even basic common sense repeatedly. The only reason to visit was they have a kick boxing area. Common sense issue- When one does yoga in there yoga area (classes)one takes out their shoes for such physical activity. Similarly while doing heavy squats some take out shoes to get good grips while the lift. The same way while kick boxing in the kick boxing area one cannot kick the bag with shoes on or both the shoes and bag both will get damaged. While PERSON TRAINING too shoes are removed to teach good stance while dead lifts and squats.(Have personally seen them do so) #But they will only single one out who doesn't pay for their personal training or classes.# You want your stuff stolen try leaving it in your locker with a lock. Wanna use the sauna good luck it doesn't heat up. Wanna use steam it stinks as it's super old with non functioning steam outlets. Wanna use showers without no hooks to hold anything this is the place. Wanna work out sorry we are full as we used two big areas in the gym with new equipment for personal training. They are always empty but you can't use it. See other one ⭐ reviews to see it's not one off instance. Photos posted.

Expérience négative: **Unacceptable Behavior from Assistant Manager Cody** I had an appalling experience with Assistant Manager Cody at this gym. He was incredibly rude and unprofessional when dealing with a simple misunderstanding about payment terms. Instead of calmly explaining or resolving the issue, Cody lashed out at the client, displaying a shocking lack of knowledge and competence. When caught in his own confusion, he became overly sensitive and defensive, ultimately resorting to kicking the client out of the gym in a fit of frustration. His behavior was disgraceful and entirely unacceptable. I strongly urge everyone to avoid signing any contracts or having any dealings with Cody! Goodlife, please avoiding hiring this guy as the manager, he is far away from capable of this position.

Expérience négative: AVOID THIS GYM! Locker break-ins are a common problem and the staff have passive aggressive attitudes and a low sense of urgency to help people in trouble. I had my personal effects stolen after my lock was cut and GoodLife has taken no responsibility or accountability in the situation. Your personal safety is a low priority at this gym. If you actually scroll down and filter the 1 and 2 star reviews, you will notice a pattern of locker break-ins, passive aggressive treatment from the staff in all of these situations and a common practice of not helping the member in these times of crisis. Disgusting and unacceptable. They have been unsurprisingly unsupportive in coming up with a resolution to the theft of my personal information, belongings and coming up with a solution to address the situation that occurred around 12:00am on July 11, 2024. Cody Battler, the general manager at this location has horrible customer service and was incredibly rude, showed lack of empathy and in my personal opinion shows a strong incompetence in the management of this location. I have never left a gym feeling so defeated, disappointed and disrespected. A police report has been filed related to the break and enter incident, but GoodLife has done absolutely nothing to investigate the situation themselves and look more carefully at the surveillance footage from that day. Just some background… I have a corporate plan option, so I went in for a trial 3-day pass and my lock was cut off during my FIRST workout and my entire locker was emptied out including my wallet, airpods, shoes, house keys and even the gym bag itself, which were all STOLEN. The suspect went on to further make charges to my credit cards while I was working out causing a huge amount of personal stress in the proceeding days. In addition, I have lost all of my photo identification including my Indigenous heritage card. GoodLife has done nothing to reach out to me with compensation or take any accountability for this event that occurred. They have been defensive and instead passed on the blame elsewhere. For 10 hours, I could not even gain access into my own apartment because my keys were stolen and I had no photo ID. I had to wait until the early morning the next day for access to my building from my property manager. It was a nightmare! In all of my interactions with the staff, they have not been helpful and were defensive in all regards. They have not been willing to take responsibility and said they are aware of an issue with break-ins (but, clearly have not managed to resolve this). Completely unprofessional and shocking. I will not be recommending this gym to anyone in my circle and suggest you reevaluate supporting a company that will not take care of you in times of crisis. As someone who is Indigenous and apart of the LGBTIQA+ community, I did not feel safe at this gym and feel like my concerns were not taken seriously by management and the organization itself.

Conveniently located in the heart of the city, it's accessible and perfect for those who need a 24-hour facility. The gym's amenities are comprehensive, including a spacious sauna, well-maintained showers, and clean changing rooms. These facilities contribute to a comfortable and enjoyable workout experience. One of the standout aspects of this gym is its excellent customer service. The staff are always friendly, approachable, and eager to assist with any inquiries or concerns. The atmosphere in the gym is vibrant, with a good mix of members, predominantly young professionals, which adds to the energetic and motivating environment. However, despite these positive aspects, there are areas where GoodLife Fitness could improve. The billing management system needs significant attention. On multiple occasions, I experienced overcharges, which required tedious and time-consuming efforts to resolve. This issue can be quite frustrating and detracts from the overall experience. Additionally, while the gym boasts a wide range of equipment, some of it feels outdated and in need of an upgrade. Incorporating more modern machines would enhance the workout experience. Another drawback is the absence of massage chairs, which are a popular feature in many other fitness centers. Their inclusion would be a great addition to the recovery and relaxation options available to members. In conclusion, GoodLife Fitness in downtown Toronto has a lot to offer with its prime location, extensive facilities, and superb customer service. However, addressing the billing issues and updating some of the equipment would greatly improve the overall experience. Despite these drawbacks, it's still a solid choice for those seeking a convenient and well-equipped gym in the city

Expérience négative: I recently set out to compare two gyms in Toronto and visited today, July 8th, almost 3 PM, the GoodLife Fitness branch near Nathan Phillips Square. By chance, this branch was offering a free pass to check out the gym, which I really appreciated. Their representative did a great job and convinced me to join. I inquired about facilities like the steam room, and he recommended their branch at 137 Yonge Street. I moved there to continue my membership process and check out the facilities. At the 137 Yonge Street branch, I told them I wanted to check the facilities. They seemed unwelcoming and had an attitude. They asked for my details, and I informed them that I had already provided this information at the first branch. I even had a picture of the form I filled out, but they rudely rejected it, saying, "This is there; here we have our rules," as if they were speaking about a different company. Feeling frustrated, I decided to walk out. It seemed like they didn’t care about turning away a potential customer. I feel sorry that a great company like GoodLife Fitness makes such mistakes. I also feel bad for the representative at the first branch who did his job proficiently, only for other employees to turn it all down.

I genuinely appreciated his commitment to help and make sure I had a great on-boarding experience. Expérience positive: My experience after a couple of months of working out in this gym has been less positive than the beginning. For starters, someone stole my combination lock from my locker!!! They have mentioned it everywhere that you’re responsible for all your valuable items, but I never thought someone would steal the lock that I’ve bought to protect my belongings. Secondly, some of the personal trainers incorporate their personal preferences into the gym policies. At last, I usually work out in the studio and people come in and turn on the on-demand workout and turn it up only to do solo workout! Which is very selfish because they disturb other people’s workout and you can hear them even with noise cancellation mode on. And the gym’s sound system doesn’t have bluetooth connectivity option! I recently started working out in this location and the staff have been very friendly and help. The change rooms, chiropractor’s office, personal training area, boxing room, spinning room and the studio are downstairs and the machines are on the main floor. The studio, mats, bars and plates are clean and everyone does a good hobby wiping them after each use.

Expérience positive: Ok, full disclosure. Im a gymbro. Ive been to every goodlife in the gta many many times and for yrs. This goodlife is the only one downtown with a shrug machine and one of the few with marpo ropes. Staff is very nice and helpful. As a hetro, this gym can be a bit uncomfortable as it is quite gay-dominant. I saw 2 men walk out of the private bathroom together the last time i was there, as a result im not sure if ill ever go back in the evening. I love the equipment but the atmosphere is some times hard to deal with

Expérience négative: A struggling gym with a few issues. There are a number of homeless people, who come to the gym to use showers-area. In addition, some people that have had encounters with police due to their harmful behaviors have somehow been attracted to this specific gym location. My understanding is that these issues have been brought to the gym’s management on numerous occasions but the concerns have simply been dismissed by GoodLifeFitness. If you are looking for a safe work-out environment, in particular, for younger friends and family members, do yourself a favor and stay away from this GoodlifeFitness location.

Expérience fantastique: This is my home gym location, and I really like the layout, design, and abundance of equipment here at 137 Yonge Street! This gym has some of the hardest working cleaning staff, as evidenced by the nearly spotless change rooms and washrooms and the general tidiness of the gym areas. My only suggestion would be to get some massage chairs here for recovery. The regular leather chairs could be ealiy replaced by those - which are loved/appreciated by many. I would like to highlight three individuals who stand out to me to make my experience here so positive. Nordin - Nordin always meets me with a big smile and a warm welcome. He recognizes that he hasn't seen me in a while if my work schedule has changed and I am coming to the gym at different times, which makes me feel like a valued "regular" If any issues arise in the gym due to overcrowding or misuse of the machines he handles the issue professionally and with fairness and respect. Callie - Callie is very professional and friendly. I remember a specific incident in which a gym-goer had an outburst and was acting in a very disruptive and inappropriate manner. I believe the police were called. Callie was one of the staff to deal with this individual and was calm and collected when doing so. She always has the biggest smile, and gives me a nod or wave in recognition to entering or leaving the gym. G - G went above and beyond to give a potential new client who is a friend of mine a week pass to try the gym since I wasn't sure of her work schedule. He is always friendly and interested to make conversation. When there is a machine out of order, he does his best to give a timeline as to when it should be repaired. Please open your hours back to 24 hours every day--many of us who work shifts need it!

This gym stopped in time... 10-15 years ago vibe... lack of equipment/machines, and most of it is old or has been broken/under maintenance for a long time. It would help if the space/equipment on the ground floor was not restricted to personal training (which is mostly empty and there's also a good space for this on the lower floor - mismanagement issue).

The towels are often dirty with other people’s hair on them, have found lose nails on the washroom floor, sometimes there is no hot water in the shower, sauna is under repair 3/7 days in a week, the escalator was broken for 3 months during the summer, and the list goes on. The staff is pretty good and greets you when you come in and leave. The location is great. I wish it was better maintained. This place may need an experienced manager who knows how to manage a fitness facility of this scale.

Expérience négative: It's probably one of the worst locations I have seen. I'd say more than 50% of the square footage for this gym is blocked off for personal training. A large section upstairs and the large astroturf section downstairs is blocked off for PT(personal training). Half of the time, the personal training sections are empty (maybe one person training a client) and then just staff training when not working. Really makes no sense for all other patrons who pay to work out. Edit: July 10, 2024 The Management has completely revamped the floor layout and it's way better! Way more functional equipment open to regular gym goers. Thanks!

Expérience fantastique: Best GoodLife I've been to. Some of the reviews in here are ridiculous. It's a downtown gym, nobody expects 10 meters between each piece of equipment. Lots of machines and benches so it's rare I can't find something to work out on. The more the better! Been to multiple locations and other gyms downtown and this really isn't that bad at rush hour. Pretty good during lunch hours too. Gym is modern and clean. Seriously there are people cleaning the changing rooms constantly and I've only seen a handful of things out of service in my 6 months here. All equipment seems to get fixed or replaced quickly. Staff are friendly too. I have 3 locations closer to my apartment but will continue to walk further to come to this location.

They broke into my locker, and while I still paying for it without any delinquencies, all of my belongings were stolen, and nobody could give me a clear answer about how they were planning to reimburse me. The manager told me that he is his first month on his job and, they made a mistake in some Excel spreadsheet, however, no solutions were offered. Instead, I’ve got a lot of attitude from the management and the staff. I am going to escalate this matter.

Expérience négative: I will never go back to this facility. I lived in Toronto for about 16 months and joined the gym as soon as I arrived. During my stay, I had no issues until I did. Before going to work out, I went to the bank to withdraw money for my monthly TTC pass, rent, and gym membership. I worked out as usual, and before taking a shower, my locker was fine. I closed it, and when I came back, the padlock was broken and my money was gone. I went to talk to the management, and they were extremely rude to me. They gave me the impression that just because I was a foreigner, I had no rights in Canada. They shrugged it off with a laugh and told me there was nothing they could do for me. Sarcastly, they said, "There's a police station right there. If you'd like to go there, be my guest, but there's nothing we can do for you." Just a reminder: The only ones who have access to the gym are staff and members. That was the worst experience during my stay. I hope that people who go there never have to endure this situation.

Expérience négative: I no longer work out here, but I imagine this gym hasn’t changed that much in the past few months. This is supposed to be the GL flagship gym, but it has serious flaws. The major one is the space - or lack of it. There is far too much equipment in the given space and as a result, members tend to get in each other’s way. I used to go during off-peak hours and I can’t imagine what it would be like in the evening. The personal training area takes up too much room and the stretching area is too small for a gym this size. Also, the members can be annoying - too many “poseurs” who spend as much time admiring themselves in the mirror as they do working out. The last time I was there, a senior trainer yelled at me for criticizing the gym - he said: “If you don’t like it here you can go somewhere else.” How to make a member feel welcome! I took his advice and haven't gone back. I don’t miss it – there are other downtown gyms that offer a far better work- out experience.

Expérience positive: Compared to other GL branch , this is cleaner and larger gym. I honestly regret that why I didn't come here sooner Especially stretching area is spacious so good for ppl who does stretch/ mat training. Also women's locker room is relatively spacious and has many mirrors, which is a high point to me. However, some of the showers only run water, so you might want to test them before use.

Expérience négative: BEWARE: I just found out that despite continuing to pay them every month, while I was away this summer they cut the lock on my locker and took my stuff. I never got a call or an email from them. They couldn’t show me a record of when they cut the lock and they didn’t label the stuff they removed from the lockers. If I were a less honest person I would have been able to leave today with someone else’s duffel bag. But it seems they’ve disposed of my things - again without an email or a call while I remained an active paying member. Update: I informed the manager that I didn't care if I got compensated, what I wanted was an assurance that they would start respecting their paying customers in good standing by *at minimum* sending an email before they throw our belongings in the trash. It's been 3 weeks since I was told I would get an update - nothing. I'll also take this opportunity to flag that this gym is on a main floor on Yonge street. If someone gets in who's not supposed to be there, it can be a dangerous situation. Unfortunately I experience one incident where a man was going around intimidating people (mostly trying to frighten women) and then assault a police officer before being violently taken down in the middle of the gym. Suffice to say: I'm cancelling my membership.

Expérience fantastique: I've been going to this location for almost a year now and for some reason it took them 6 MONTH to fix a broken escalator but at least it's fixed now. If you want to make sure you don't injure yourself when starting out than it's 100% worth the money to sign up for personal training(my trainer was Kohei, really kind and professional) but it can be a little bit expensive. Relatively clean with plenty of air. Definitely 10 times better than Planet Fitness lol

Doesn’t help when it’s at its peak hours, with the recent heat wave we had in the city. No sort of ventilation at all. My biggest displease happened a couple days ago when I was exercising, I overheard a personal trainer and his client judging and laughing at an elderly male exercising. They were laughing at the weight and how he was doing it. This is extremely disrespectful. For a staff member who’s suppose to be hold a standard and set a good example for gym goers. How am I going to feel and think now the next time I visit this gym, knowing I maybe a potential laughing stock amongst your staff.

Upon asking for help from the staff they did nothing and told me the manager would get back to me within the week. A simple issue that could have been resolved by pulling up the cameras on the spot. Filed an incident report but no revert in 15+ days.

Expérience positive: Hello Dear! First and foremost, I would like to mention that I've been a GoodLife customer for years and greatly value taking care of my physical and mental health. I'm always bringing in new friends to train with me. With that said, there are two points I would like you to pay some attention to: 1. One of my preferred ways to use your facilities is by using the steam room. Unfortunately, the 137 Yonge location has been falling short. The steam room has been under maintenance every week, but this last time it has been out of service for many days. It's unacceptable that one of the main facilities is not functioning, and it's clear that it's not a priority for you. This is not fair to your loyal customers. When I inquire about an estimated fix from your team, most of them are not even aware that the steam room is broken. This is a serious matter. Kindly take measures and provide us with an update on when it will be operational again. This could be in the form of a notice. 2. This situation is extremely delicate, and I would appreciate a response regarding it. I believe we all agree that not everyone is comfortable being undressed in front of strangers, even if it's in a gym locker room. Aside from issues of shyness, privacy, and even religious considerations, I've noticed that in the men's restroom, when we decide to take a shower after a workout, we struggle to find a more private spot or even enter a toilet stall and close the door for privacy. Moreover, some individuals spend more than an hour inside the restroom, walking around and using it as if it's their personal space. I believe you can read between the lines here. It would be of great importance to allocate a 1m x 1m, I can even suggest the location, that's possible, on the mirror's side, where there's space to put the shirts, where it's always empty and is not frequently used, considering that everyone puts their belongings inside the wardrobe. Space solely for the use of individuals who are more reserved and value their privacy while changing. It's somewhat uncomfortable to have to send an email about something so obvious and simple. I hope you receive this email in good spirits and take actions to maintain the quality of service at GoodLife. Thank you in advance.

Not only she has a personal approach and understanding of the problem, but she’s incredibly knowledgeable about mind-body-soul connection. He was very helpful, friendly, and went out of his way to correct what was a very frustrating situation on my membership caused by the other location. He fixed my membership, gave me a welcoming tour, signed me up for some classes, and even called me a few days later to make sure things are going ok. Great service by G and a great location.

Expérience négative: So disappointed with my appointment, which was a presentation on personal training... prohibitively expensive. I left embarrassed and disappointed and deflated. I had written, an email of introduction, prior, explaining what I was looking for. I did not feel my wishes were listened to, and my email, either, not understood or not even read. It is a business and this was a sales pitch for the most expensive plan ever. I just thought that although this is a business, it is a business of wellbeing and I would have hoped to have been listened too, and options that could have been of benefited me and answered the questions I had asked, in my email. An embarrassing and exposing meeting and I feel bad that I went. The gym is clean and safe and accessible and an easy walk for me. An Update I heard from the owner....lip service sorry I felt that way....blah blah blah no alternatives, not interested. BOTTOM LINE PROHIBITIVELY EXPENSIVE PERSONAL TRAINERS....no alternatives $1200 a month!!! Down load an app and work out to that ...these people cant help you unless you have $1200 a month for a year!!!! GROSS

Expérience positive: Came to this location for the first time. The workers here all seem to be friendly and helpful. Also all gym members seem to be the same plus clean up after themselves. This gym has a lot of amenities/gym equipment in all well maintained conditions. These amenities are -Change room -Sauna -Steam room -Group workout room -Cycling -Turf zone -Teaching areas -Free weight areas -Squat racks plus assisted -Cardio areas (tons of machines) -Stretching zones -tanning bed -hot yoga Sadly this location does not have massage chairs for recovery.

Expérience négative: I took a personal training for 6 months and my schedule was 2 days a week which the trainer failed to follow. He kept postponing the classes and extended 6 months to almost 9 months and it was inconsistent. I don’t feel I gained anything out of it. Waste of money. Better to research about trainer before you start.

Broken machines, ellipticals, two hand sanitizers for the whole gym, often empty, steam room is disgusting when not broken, escalator broken for a month or so, 1-2 tv channels barely working. Management has been advised but not much improvement. Goodlife, do better!

Expérience négative: With the "end" of COVID, cleanliness and hygiene have gone out the door. I saw a guy pick his nose and wipe it on a bike he was on. I told one of the staff and they said they couldn't do anything because he was just visiting and wasn't a member. I asked them if they could at least clean the bike for the next person and they said they would. And did absolutely nothing. That day I decided that, when my membership term ended, I wouldn't renew. I'm not a member anymore and never will be again. There are so many people working at this gym and most of them just stand around in the reception area doing nothing. They don't clean the machines, they ignore you until you literally wave your arms in front of them. If you're a slacker who wants to make money doing nothing, this is the workplace for you.

Saved me all night since they’re 24 hours, staff is super friendly all-around the clock (which is tough I know), and great for before and after and even during work if you’ve got the time! Expérience fantastique: this gym has a decent layout but very clean friendly gym. Suzie is the BEST! always smiling :) gym staff is great. i’ve met the manager at this location and you can tell she’s trained her staff well (other Goodlife managers take note! good manager = good staff)

Expérience négative: Because they blocked me on Facebook for stating the fact that their membership is expensive for too little. Goodlife comes on to my feed when I have nothing to do with GFF. That's how I noticed they block me.
Hi John, we are sorry to hear that you feel this way. We have a variety of membership options to suit the needs of our members at a variety of pricing. It is unfortunate that you have given this location a 1 star rating based on an online interaction and not a club experience.
Expérience positive: Massively overcrowded 4-8pm most days I've been there at those times, but still trying to sign up more people. There is a massive usually-unused area in the middle of the gym reserved for PT-only, even when empty, despite the PTs also being able to use other equipment. Sauna closes and isn't 24 hours most days like the rest of the gym (which is not 24 hours every day but near enough). Staff are friendly and professional except for the whole gatekeeping a huge area of the gym thing, which isn't their fault. Equipment and changing rooms kept clean, wide variety of equipment. Regulars are friendly, mix of men and women. (I am a man and cannot speak to their experience, but I understand this is something that other women want to know.)

Expérience négative: I tried to visit this location several times and my experiece is worse and worse each time. Although this gym has a excellent location and rather spacious, the equipment is good, the gym is terribly ran and I doubt that the locker riom can pass health inspection. The sinks are plugged and waste water doesnt leave the easily. Instead of fixing this disgusting problem the management decided to concentrate on how to make experience for customers less enjoable. This place has a "dry sauna" and a "steam room". If you ever been to real sauna or steamroom, you would agree these ones are fake and joke! The temperature in the "sauna" doesnt get 90 even in Farenheit, although the indicator by the doir says so. Guys, it shoukd be 90 Celsius... Sream room is also a joke, cold wet place. These amazing fake facilities used to be open 24 hours as the gym was, but today a maintenance guy came and kicked me out at 10 pm. ! He locked both saunas with a barn lock! I asked the front desk and they lied to me that they put "bleech" there for the night, thats why it is closed till the morning. No one put anything there! They just dont want customers to use facilities they pay for. And why 10, not even 11 or 12 like most gyms are open!? Anyway, replace the heater at the dry sauna, make it work! And make facilities available 24 hours like they used to be, what we pay for! You dont have to be fake and mislead about your hours and services ecen though you are located in downtown Toronto! If you are unable manage locations in downtown properly, this is not the only one, please sell them to LA Fitness. We need a good gym. We pay a reasonable amount for membership and expect good services. And if you ruin all downtown locations and I have to drive to suburbs to go to a gym anyway, i will rather join LA Fitness. LA fitness, please open a location or a few in downtown! We need a clean gym with everything working in it. Without stupid manafement who have some weird hateful agenda and fight against their customers. They are going to loose them!

Expérience négative: The reason for my rating is the manager and the “senior advisor.” They wouldn’t make an exception for me because I accidentally changed my membership from all access to one location access. And said they wont allow me and tried to charge me $5. I’ve been a member for years now and this is just unacceptable.

Expérience fantastique: Much bigger then what it looks like from the outside, so much bigger then the other gyms I've been to. There’s a lot of equipment, plenty of machines and plenty of space. I wasn’t sure how to use the machines and certain exercises so Eric helped me get set up with a trainer so it wasn't an issue. Eric was very knowledgable and his motivation has gotten me through my journey with the gym
