Gravity Climbing Gym - Niagara

Expérience positive: Overall I was disappointed with Gravity. The route setting is pretty good, and the grades are fair, but they expect you to jump/fall from near the top of some pretty high boulder walls and the mats don't have a ton of give. The addition of more down climb holds, or even just more routes in-between that could be used for climbing down would immediately bump the rating up. The workout equipment upstairs is nice. It has everything a climber needs to strengthen up, but I would have loved to see a campus wall. One of the benches is shaky and the dumbbell rack has some rough edges my hand got caught on, so it could use some TLC. The two tension boards, at different angles, are great for those worried about the lack of down climbs and/or want variation. Day pass prices are good. Definitely a good value if you're not worried about the lack of down climbs. There were a good amount of people climbing and the atmosphere was great. Service was also good. As someone from out of town visiting family, I won't be back until I see the down climbing situation fixed, but I know there aren't many options in the area, so if you're curious about climbing, give it a shot, but if you feel nervous about heights, or have bad ankles, maybe try a different gym.

Expérience fantastique: I've been coming since April 2024. The staff are friendly and helpful. The place is clean and the other climber's are all really kind as well. They've got climbing suitable for kids and for lower fitness, though it still requires plenty.

Expérience positive: Good climbs, though agree with a previous review about the lack of down climbing holds, there is a few at the very top then you gotta jump. Staff is nice, and good atmosphere in general

Expérience positive: Density was low but the setting was good. Have a training area upstairs, bathrooms, changing area, and boards. Bouldering only. No ropes. Not as cool as I would have hoped but it was air-condition. I think we just visited on a hot day. Entrance was difficult to find, they could do with a bigger sign near it.

Expérience positive: Great place to climb, but too expensive for one-off climbs in my estimation.

Expérience fantastique: We went after getting rained out at the Niagara glen. Gravity climbing has wonderful route setting every climb was fun and interesting even at the lower levels they kept it unique

Expérience fantastique: Super fun climbs. Gym was a lot bigger than I expected it to be. Instead of v grades they have g grades which are supposedly a bit softer than v's but I found to correlate to be about equivalent to other gyms. Lots of interesting climbs of various styles to choose from. Some moves were new to me!

Expérience positive: Awesome climbing gym. Always fun to go in for a sesh here. Staffs pretty chill too.

It's definitely different in style (Not in bad way) Atleast for this rotation, it felt like there's a lot of big dynos and handsfree (or minimal) balance moves. The grading is pretty consistent and on par with the gyms I been to so far. Very cheap (compared to GTA) and would 100% go all the time if I lived around the area

Expérience positive: Great environment, lots of friendly regulars. Clean, well maintained. Only negative is the shoes they rent out can be pretty disgusting at times, so don't be afraid to ask for a different pair.

Expérience fantastique: Always a great time! They're always evolving the wall and presenting new challenges. Skill ratings are usually on point thou some are more tough than you'd expect! Will go again and again!

Expérience fantastique: While I'm a bigger fan of the Hamilton location Gravity Niagara is still a great option. It's slightly cheaper than Hamilton, but doesn't have rope climbing. There is a constant rotation so you never get bored of climbing the same wall. I like having the option of the gym upstairs, it would be great if it was expanded upon slightly given the membership prices have been raised recently.

Expérience positive: Love the setting! It's one of my favorite gyms in Ontario. Please have staff help to remind people not to walk under climbers. Twice I had two different adults walk right under me while I was climbing. Other than this, it's always a good experience every time I come!

Routes update weekly, so there's always something new and always something for whatever skill level you are. The "gym" part is small, but well-kept and covers all the gaps I need filled in. This is my main workout location and also a great place for my partner, my friends, and my coworkers to meet up and send it. Highly recommend!

Expérience fantastique: Great walls with good setters. Also has good variety of exercise equipment and two tensions walls. Rarely too busy.

Expérience positive: Rock walls get rearranged every week like the Hamilton location so sometimes they have a lot of good setups and sometimes they only have a few good for beginners. When I was there they only had I think two beginners ones, but that's okay. Was fun. Friendly staff.

Expérience positive: Great climbing facility, I always try to go when I visit St. Catharines. It’s way bigger than my home gym so I really appreciate how spaced out a lot of the climbs are able to be here. Pricing is very reasonable too. I find the setting really fun, especially the use of volumes. My main complaint would be lack of down climbs here. Most routes only have 1 at the very top, and since the routes are spaced apart there aren’t many other holds to come down on other than the ones you used to get up. Jumping from the top is hard on my knees and climbing down on holds from tougher routes when I’m already tired is sketchy. It would also be nice if it was open later on weekends!

Expérience positive: Overall a solid, bouldering gym. The holds can get a little rubbery sometimes and the grading can also be a little inconsistent, but overall a great place to climb!

There are enough challenges to keep more experienced climbers happy, and enough easier projects for the kids to get some good climbs in. Staff were all friendly and helpful, all in all a great climb day.

Expérience fantastique: I was blown away by this place. Makes Peaks (the old climbing gym in town) look like a trash can. Once you find the door to this place you can relax, the hard part is over. The main entrance looks like a side entrance for Beatties basics, it’s tricky. Anyway, gravity is a fantastic bouldering gym (no ropes here) super clean, incredible routes, I really enjoy the atmosphere in this gym. I will definitely be getting a membership this winter

Expérience fantastique: Have been almost 2 months membership here at Niagara Gravity. Awesome and very kind staffs and employees. They instructed the basic skills and rules very well. They have a small gym upstairs where you can do some stretchings, cycling, a basic weights, erc. If you are thinking about a new exercise, definitely go for it. For first month of the membership, they have a special deal which includes free bouldering shoes and chalk bag which together would cost ~8$ if you were to borrow from them.

The climbs work off a G system vs a V system but to me they seemed to overlap in the same levels of difficult. There is no clutter on the walls which makes it very easy to have multiple people do climbs at the same time, it is also aesthetically pleasing. I will be returning and getting a punch card to regularly visit. Happy to find this gem!!

Expérience négative: I found no honour from the owner Reid. He broke the contract we had regarding my monthly membership at the Hamilton location, and after speaking with him over email 3 times, he will not refund me my remaining value. this is theft, and i know i am not the only one who got cheated in 2020 and in the past. after the company decided to close their doors on their own accord in March 2020, they re-opened in the summer and told all their members that their memberships would be started up again weather they came back to climb or not. Due to new rules, i was not consenting to, and because i don't like climbing indoors during the summer, i was not prepared to return and start climbing. after speaking over email to Reid he would not return my remaining value of the membership to me, or postpone the restarting of the membership until i was ready to return. I know i am not the only one who has been left tarnished by Reid. after reading some of the reviews i am even more convinced he has a lot of spiritual growth needed to become a honourable man. a warning not to go into contract with his companies, as he has proven not to honour them. I wish him well and hope his growth finds him soon. Otherwise, i enjoyed the gym and the people who climb there are fantastic, i hope to climb with everyone again.

Expérience positive: Started bouldering here and I love it. Awesome selection of challenging sets at every level. I go as often as I can, really enjoyable new hobby for by yourself or with friends. However, the prices here are a little high and they are totally unwilling to make any price accommodations for group sign-ups, referrals ect. They are definitely taking advantage of their monopoly in the area. Other than that great staff, great bouldering gym!

Expérience fantastique: Great indoor climbing gym. The mats are really nice. One of the most consistently graded gyms I've been to. All the problems feel right around what they are graded for. Lots of variety in the problems as well. Probably the safest feeling gym I've used. I've been going here for months and not had a hold spin on me which has been an issue I've had at many other gyms. Great training area upstairs. Plus I love the addition of the dyno wall recently. The only things I could hope for in the future would be possibly a cave area upstairs, a campus board and moon board. Which aren't necessary at all but would add more variety to training.

Expérience fantastique: Specialised bouldering gym. Great climbing and a really nice, clean facility. I very much appreciate that there is a designated 'children climbing section', so kids do not run around underneath you when you're climbing. Good opening hours and a fair price. We've been waiting for the opening for 11 months, and it does deliver!

Expérience fantastique: Best indoor climbing in the region, hands down (as of 2020, it's sadly the only indoor climbing). I do wish they had some roped climbing but I'm just happy there's finally a modern, clean climbing facility in the area.

Expérience positive: Re-Writing this review. Adding a star. I'll try to keep this one much shorter than the original. I'm very tempted to give it 5 stars. And I'm guessing in the future once they do things they mentioned like adding a moon board, I will likely give that extra final star. Fresh modern equipment. Great mats and a good variety of difficulty. If you're in this general area looking for somewhere to climb, don't waste your time or money going to peaks. Go here. My previous review mentioned my issues with safety. As a lot of climbs were being placed on top of volumes which could lead to some terrible falls. In the recent sets there's still 1-2 climbs each that have this problem. But the severity of it has gone down and I don't really feel like it's a problem anymore. There's still a climb here or there that's "dangerous" but they're few and far between in the most recent sets. Absolutely not a problem for a casual climber. These issues only come up in 5+ ratings where you're already in a precarious position. The most recent setting (in the 'cave' section found at the back right) is a great display of what the route setters are creatively capable of doing. I hope they apply this standard to all future setting. Oh one final thing. I mentioned before that some of the grading isn't as accurate as I'd like. There are some climbs still up right now rated 6 that are very clearly 5's. And one 5 that's very clearly a 6. But one single set being slightly off isn't a major problem. All of the new stuff in the cave I feel is ranked correctly.

Expérience positive: Great setting, great space, but the hours are absolutely terrible. Too early to close on weekends, and the 4pm openings on Monday and Friday have ruined two of my climbing trips now. I love the gym, so I really wish it was open when most gyms are.
