Island Gym

Expérience positive: Honnêtement ça fait environ 3 ans que je vais au gym de l'île. Je fais 30 km 5x par jour pour y aller. C'est un old school gym donc pas nécessairement nouveau équipement du jour mais très fonctionnel et bien. Il est nouvellement peinturer ce qui le rend beaucoup plus attirant. J'aimerais donner 5 étoiles sauf que le seul redflag du gym c'est la ventilation... durant l'été on ne dirrait pas que l'air climatisé est allumer au max mais le worst c'est l'hiver; la senteur de sueur est degeulasse. On voit les gros coulis d'humidité dans les fenêtre qui sont aussi buée et sa SENT la sueur.... si ce problème est régler ça serait parfait.

Expérience positive: I like this gym more than other gym's ive been too, its very big, was recently painted cools colors and has a lot of machines. It would be nice if there was more than one smith machine as there are multiples of many other machines, this is the one ive found myself waiting for the most. I give three stars mostly for the cleanliness of the place, not sure if owners are aware there is an odd smell coming from around the dumbbell rack near the windows, not sure if there's a dead mouse or something back there but it's quite annoying to smell. As well as the bathrooms (women's) i noticed once, for many weeks some filth on a toilet seat, in the same spot, that never got cleaned. Quite disturbing. I think for the price we pay you guys need to invest in better cleaning and maintenance services. Not hating because like I said this is my favorite gym, its just little things that can be changed to make our experience better :)

Expérience positive: J'aime l'espace.

Expérience négative: I went there to check this gym since it close from home and open 24h. The gym is big but most machines and weights are outdated. The ventilation is terrible there as soon as I walked in, you can smell everyone not a good thing. For the price yearly $500+ I wonder where the money is going because it’s definitely not going into the gym. I did not become a member because of the fact that is overpriced, didn’t actually get anyone from the front desk to walk me through the gym or try to sell me it. It seems like it’s a place for people that been going there for years, regulars but not newcomers.

Expérience fantastique: Went to visit with my wife, we love old school gym, no selfies people holding their machine for hours, lots and lots of equipment like Monster gym, we are member now for years to come hopefully

Expérience fantastique: I'm going back on my old review! I originally put a pretty great review saying how much I loved the place and I was just kind of hoping there is a bathroom downstairs but it doesn't really matter we're at the gym to work out anyways! LOL! But update, they actually put a brand new water fountain one of those modern ones where you just put your cup underneath and you push the button so it's absolutely amazing! On top of it I got to know the staff as I've been there for a month in a bit and it's not just the stuff it's the people the people are just remarkable. I suffer from horrific anxiety and I was so terrified to go and everybody there is so sweet and so nice to everybody. No one should ever feel nervous there even the big guys that look intimidating have hearts of gold and they are the sweetest ones in the world! Everybody there is always willing to help you out if you need a little hand with something. Unfortunately I suffered a terrible accident there a month ago and ended up breaking both my feet got a small concussion a bunch of bruises black guy Etc, somebody was basically showing off according to everyone at the gym because the whole gym knows about it, but everyone was very supportive. With my anxiety I'm stuck wearing a boot there actually I have two boots but I can only wear one as the other foot is just the toe that's broken not the actual foot. But I was so nervous to walk in with the boot but nobody cared, in fact people are actually amazed that I came in with that and everyone even the staff was accommodating and letting me use the bathroom downstairs just until my cast comes off. I've never felt more at home in any place even more than my own home! After 13 years of isolation I'm meeting people and I'm absolutely thrilled to have joined Island gym and have met so many different acquaintances! It's like a little family and I would never suggest another gym! Even for people that live off Island I tell them make the 10 minute drive over because it's totally worth it! To the owner of the gym, you really major gym wonderful, and I just want to thank you for giving me an outlet to try to work my best and everybody else as well and a very comfortable and safe environment where there's no intimidation and no negative whatsoever I can even think of! Best gym in the world!

Expérience positive: The island gym is very nice. It has a lot of good machines. Maybe even too many. The place has been repainted so it's looks more modern and clean. However, they need to renovate more around so the price matches the quality of the gym. The people are nice and the employee are nice as well.

Expérience fantastique: Beaucoup de machines, autant musculation que cardio. Plusieurs ensembles de poids libres. Plusieurs choix de barre et de poids en tout genre. L’endroit est propre, mais un peu vieille. Toutefois les employés sont courtois. Les autres utilisateurs sont respectueux de l’environnement et l’ambiance y est agréable, en matinée du moins. J’aime beaucoup m’entraîner à ce gym et il n’y en a pas de comparable dans la région.

Expérience fantastique: I'll revisit this review ina couple of months. For now, I like it. It's clean, people are respectful and the gym has about everything you need in terms of equipment.

Expérience positive: Outdated equipment, but still gets the job done. When i cant hit a golds gym, this is my plan B in this area.

Expérience positive: This place needs some updating and renos. Cracked windows, only 1 water fountain (the old ones that you can't fill out your water bottle), outdated, worn out exterior signs...the cardio machines are old. Some have been just sitting there with a 'broken' sign for years. The ventilation is not great either. Then there's the crowd. Avoid evenings as there are machine hoggers, groups of friends just chit chatting around machines.. people bringing camping chairs and hogging the only weight bumps in the gym, that are breaking down btw. IMO, for what you pay (525$ per year now, it just went up), it doesn't match the price tag. The only positives are that it has everything you need in terms of weights and machines and that it's close to home. But comon guys, you need to upgrade the place a little to be hiking up prices.

Expérience positive: Pretty decent gym. I mainly went to use the sauna during the weekend. It was great at first, then It stopped working. The steam room worked pretty well though. The equipment is mostly high quality and newer. The overall gym is fairly small however.

Expérience positive: It’s OK, but to be honest the *only* valid reason to go there instead of a competitor is if you live nearby. The place is not awful, but it feels like it was not renovated since the early 00’s. I think a lick of paint and some furniture upgrades would not hurt. Other people mentioned the same thing about the place being dated.

Expérience positive: Friendly staff, a lot of machines and mirrors and surprisingly a lot of free weights going until 160lbs a dumbbell. Has a separate room for posing/yoga.

Expérience fantastique: Ive been going there for 13 years. The staff is friendly, its clean, the vibe is great and they are open 24h/7. They also have tanning machines which is great when you need a dose of UV during winter!

Expérience positive: Some members are equipment-hoggers, which is annoying. If an exercise station is unoccupied, then it's free to use...I don't like being told by someone who approaches me from another part of the gym that they were using it. Some of the equipment is in need of repair/replacement, and it would be nice if the gym invested in new exercise mats for the stretching area, as the current ones are so worn, there's no cushion left. It's an ok gym, as it has basically all I need, and it's conveniently located.

Expérience positive: Bon gym, personnels sympathiques, bonne grandeur avec assez d'équipements, pas trop tassé et pas toujours trop occpés. Clientèles respectueuse d'après mon expérience de quelques années! Peut être pas beaucoup d'équipements neuf. Mais quand même assez bien entretenu.

Expérience fantastique: Pour vrai, le meilleur gym que je suis aller. Des entrainneurs super motivants, surtous pour les cours de spinning et de yoga! SI vous avez la chance, n'hésiter surtous pas!
