Expérience fantastique: Luke is extremely welcoming, talented, and kind. Also very nice people at the session and very clean compared to other gyms. Unfortunately North bay isn't my place of residence so I will not be able to attend regularly but I will be back indefinitely.

My daughter (9 years old) started BJJ this week, everyone in the studio has taken her under their wing. When I say everyone I mean all staff, coaches and guest. Expérience fantastique: I decided to go out of my comfort zone and try a class solo after participating in beer yoga with some girl friends! I needed to find something for me! Some place to clear my head with an extremely busy lifestyle! And just like that I have! From the minute I walked in the door I was greeted with kind smiles and a tour around the place! My first class was with Erik! And wow! Hot yoga is where it's at! He makes you feel so comfortable even as a newbie! He was kind, soothing, and extremely sweet. The instructors are kind and knowledgeable and my favourite aspect of this studio is their attention to detail in creating atmosphere. Soft, low-lighting that they adjust depending on the class, no mirrors so you're looking inward and focusing on your practice instead of comparing and judging yourself, calming music for meditation and more upbeat for bigger workouts. There's always something for me here no matter how my body is feeling. Really a great place to do yoga, especially if you have sensory issues.

At one point stopping to show some micro adjustments for the entire class. His style of demonstration is very smooth, making it easier to take note of details. Fellow students are equally as knowledgable. Offering much advice for a beginner like myself. Usually these situations invoke fear, but I felt completely comfortable and am better than I was yesterday. As someone with sub par social skills this gym felt like a family within 10 minutes of waiting. The gym itself is beautiful. You couldn't ask for a better setup. I look forward to my next training session and hope for more to come. Thank you Coach Adam, and all at Grounded Studios for the wonderful experience.

Expérience fantastique: Unfortunately I didn't get to train here with these fine folks but I did get a chance to see the facilities and pick up some awesome equipment from them. Nice people and looked like a hell of a place! Will drop by again sometime, hopefully for a class :)

Expérience négative: Grounded Studios was the only day camp that my kids begged me never to take them back to (and they have been to tons of different camps over the years). When my 10-year-old son wasn't able to do something on his first day, Adam not only mocked him, but got the other kids in on it as well, all chanting at him while he stood feeling ashamed. Part of this included comparing his abilities to his 7-year-old sister. My daughter at one point got nervous and started to cry, so she asked Adam if she could go see her brother to make her feel better - he punished her and put her in time out instead. My kids also complained of unwanted touching by another employee Travis - for example, during a "high five train" where Travis instead slapped my son repeatedly over half his body despite requests to stop. When I brought up my concerns, Adam made no apologies for the behaviour and suggested instead that my kids weren't robust enough to be in their program. (These are kids who had been "robust" enough to be ongoing members at the fantastic North Bay Judo Club). These people are supposed to be role models for the kids in the class, but they not only bullied a kid who didn't meet their expectations, but also encouraged other children to join in the bullying. Not the role models I would suggest for anyone's kids.

Expérience fantastique: When I first moved here for University I didn't really have my 'rock'. After coming here for a frosh event, I promptly came back shortly after and sought to get involved. A few months after some Muay Thai lessons I got on their energy volunteer program and realized I didn't just find my rock, I found a gold mine. Crystal, Adam, and everyone there — from the staff to the fellow members — made North Bay feel like home. I could never recommend somewhere more than here.

Expérience fantastique: Very professional at the same time they make you feel like family. Very inclusive for all skills and body types. Adam is not an athletic type(I read the one review someone else posted and had to laugh) and Adam is amazing in knowledge and ability. He makes it look easy and leaves you wondering how he does it so smooth, at the same time you are motivated because if he can do it so can you. There are all body types from non athletic to very athletic, from small to giants. Guys and ladies and a great vibe all around. If I had to say one negative, it's addictive to learn and you'll want to come back over and over. I would get more work done on my house if I wasn't hooked on learning more and seeing myself progress along with others. They also do a free week so you can see if it's for you. I haven't done the yoga, maybe one day, the yoga students seem quite happy as well.

Expérience fantastique: I'm not 100% sure what Eric is saying but from my experience I know both owners personally and I find it very hard pressed to see either of them saying anything about somebody's body anyting. On a different note I think that the studio is definitely worth checking out anybody can pick up a free try off their website after signing up for most of their classes. the instructors are fantastic Adam does a excellent job at the school camps and children camps that he takes care of and the Jujitsu comes highly rated as well.

Expérience négative: Am saddened and sorrowed by the discrimination and body-shaming displayed this week by this institution. Kim and Lynn are great instructors, but the management here have no room for diverse bodies or diverse expressions of gender, and I unfortunately can no longer recommend this studio to anyone, much less anyone in a vulnerable position. Appalling.
