Expérience négative: Worst customer service of all crunch locations. The front desk girls act like they don't get paid. 0 customer service skills, very annoying and rude behavior. They literally lie about everything and laugh as if you're accessing the gym for free. Never coming back to this location. Made my registration and cancellation process so difficult and cumbersome. She tried everything to charge me more!! scammers....!! When called for manager she said he's on the gym floor lol, what is even a manager for when customer needs them?

Our front desk team does everything it can to create a great experience for our members. The manager would not have been able to override the policy for the cancellation request at the time. Expérience négative: Was told today the public internet was upgraded yesterday, but it didn't work today. Last year didn't work for a couple of weeks. Update, never fixed public internet, joined a different non -franchise Crunch. Why would a company pay for something that doesn't work properly.
Expérience négative: I typically pay in club for my membership but have a credit card on file, in case of an emergency. November 2025 was no different. Paid for my fee in club (which just happened to include my annual fee) of $107. Receipt emailed to me and ensured I was good to go. 3 days later, I look into my bank account and see theu have taken the money AGAIN. Upon going into the club 4 times to rectify it, I have heard ("there's no notes on your account" "I'll put it in the shift notes" "the Manager will reach out to you". Oh yeah? When? He hasn't reached out for the first complaint but made sure to apologize when he heard me discussing it with the girl at the front, a few days later. 3-5 business days was the response I received. Its been 16 days and still no contact. Still no notes. Still no refund. But if I missed a payment.... So, I went into the club today. Manager not there. Called the club...Manager can't answer phone. I paid you cash....give me my cash back. Crunch can SEE the in club payment and the bank payment and have confirmed it with me. Why the hassle? I'm going to cancel my membership real soon. Worst gym I've dealt with. Also fix the damn internet. It's been weeks of it not working past a certain time of day. Only works in the morning but never when I go in the evening.
Expérience positive: It's really busy, some equipment could be replaced with newer equipment and it would be better if it was opened 24 hrs but otherwise it's a good atmosphere, relatively clean and the employees there are fantastic.
Expérience négative: Very run down and In need of a major face-lift and equipment upgrade. Compared to Brantford & Burloak facilities this place is a total let down.

Expérience négative: Been going to this gym since it first opened as a Crunch location and lately have some major concerns about the staff flickering and sometimes even shutting off the lights for extended periods of time 30 minutes before close - this is incredibly dangerous. People are lifting heavy weights and engaging in intense physical activity and having their vision abruptly cut off is bound to result in an accident. This has happened on numerous occasions. I can understand a light flicker 5, 10, or even 15 minutes before close to give a light warning, but this is outrageous. This would be completely unacceptable in any other business.

I’ve been a member for almost a year, but when I decided to cancel, the girl at the front desk asked for my reason-which I provided. She made a few unnecessary comments, including, “Why did you even start if you want to cancel?” I found that very rude and unprofessional. She did eventually cancel my membership, but that’s my choice, and her attitude was not professional. I don’t like to leave low ratings, but this I felt it was important to share my experience. The staff’s motive should be to process the cancellation politely, not question motives
Expérience positive: been in and out of various gyms for the last ten or so years and this is the first time I have felt like I need to commend a location. I come here in the evenings and do very specific workouts, I play para-hockey and this is the only location I have found that has the supplies I need to work on the exercises in my booklet. The staff here have been fantastic to me, including the personal trainers who have consistently given me motivation to push harder and have engaged with me about my sports outside of the gym. They have occasionally provided tips on better ways to do my workouts for more effective results. Only reason I didn't give a five is because I would say a day visit is almost the cost of a monthly pass, albeit four or five dollars cheaper but still a touch more than other brands. Friendly staff, clean location, polite members, strongly recommend!

Expérience négative: This is by far the worst gym I have ever been 2 machines always broken, equipment run down, employees having no idea what their doing, management caring less, owner only caring about money. On numerous occasions I tried canceling my membership as I signed up with GoodLife who I might add is 10000% better. Anyway they kept giving me the run around and after finally drilling them enough I got ahold of their corporate and was finally able to cancel my membership, I guess the owner didn’t like that because he made up a bunch of charges and sent them to collections. I proved to the collections agent that I did not owe anything and I got written proof that my membership is canceled I don’t owe anything, to this day the owner is sending these charges off to different collection agency’s, as a matter of fact I got a letter from one based in Ajax Ontario. This is beyond pathetic!

Expérience fantastique: Went for the first time to this location. Clean and new. Only a couple of pieces of equipment were out of order. Huge cardio area on raised platform facing over the weight gym. At the front they have hydro massage and a chair massage, red light bed and a stand up tanning bed. They have a cross fit type area as well. It’s nice and bright and well lit. This one isn’t much further than the rundown one I was going to before. This will be my new go to Crunch location.
Expérience positive: The place is recently opened but… You get what you’re paying for. I was stuck at incline hack squat machine, it didn’t close after I finished the set, thank God I was not alone there. Some pads on different machines are damaged. Overall the place is clean, spacious, has all needed equipment, has a waterfall if you know your routine you’ll be fine there. Has pretty big cardio zone, turf, and even punching bags for the boys. Also this location gas hydro massage and tanning machine. It’s $9,99 per month +$99 enrollment fee +taxes, so I calculated it’s about $22 per month which is pretty much good for what you get. Also turned out not to very very busy.
Expérience négative: I recently had an unfortunate experience at Crunch Fitness on September 10. At around 3 PM, I interacted with a front desk employee who, unfortunately, did not meet the standard of professionalism I expect. Her demeanor was noticeably rude and unhelpful. While I was reading the terms and conditions and preparing to sign, she abruptly grabbed the pen from my hands and said "thank you," without any courtesy or explanation. I've noticed similar complaints about this employee in other reviews and am surprised that Crunch Fitness has not addressed the issue. Her behaviour in my previous visits were rude which significantly impacted my experience, leading me to cancel my membership. A positive and respectful atmosphere is crucial for a gym environment, and such unprofessional behavior can certainly spoil one's mood and overall experience. I hope Crunch Fitness will take these concerns seriously and make necessary improvements.

Expérience négative: Poor Customer Service. This the 2nd time that the same staff did this. First, a few months ago I was calling Crunch Stone Church to inquire about the class so many times and she was not answering the calls. Then, I went there to see and I saw her busy on her personal phone. 2nd, this is only recently happened I left my mat in the washroom and called and she answered and I asked a favor if she can get and keep at the reception and put my name and I will return the next day to get it as I left and I am far from the gym already, she said ok she will get it then I told her that I will call after 10 mins to confirm that she got it, she said again sure, no problem. I was calling her more than 20 times for 45 mins, then she answered she said she was busy and its not her responsibility to get the mat.. I immediately returned to crunch even I was already far and saw her busy with her personal phone again. The customer service of Stone church is very far to the customer service of Upper James. Upper James staff are very excellent, friendly and VERY accommodating to member’s request as per my and my friends experience. One staff affected the whole location because of the very POOR Customer service.

I like to work out for my mental health and I can say With all honesty, they’re friendliness and kindness makes a difference on the darkest of days. It makes the environment feel welcoming and safe. Expérience positive: Looks visibly nice in there, all the machines work. Points lost because the inconvenience of asking staff every time to use the massage beds appears to be annoying to not only members but also staff.. I shouldn’t feel like I’m bothering staff for same when I’m entitled to use these machines. They should implement using the scan card with a limit or pressing a button to activate. Lastly I wish it was open 24 hours weekly like other branches.

Expérience négative: Where do I start.... 1. From joining this location in January, multiple machines are out of service... some even from January. When reporting malfunctioning machines or broken machines that we encountered and not yet identified, the staff doesn't care. Some machines do not even operate the way that they should and when asked, the comment is "Oh it has never worked on that machine." 2. The students.... I get it, this is a public space, however the congregating at the machines and occupying them for hours (and not doing anything, but being on their cell phones), taking multiple weights and not using them. 3. The smell in the gym.. Again, I get it, it is a gym, however will it hurt to circulate the air in there? Perhaps put on some AC? 4. The hygiene of the members there are less than desirable. Most of them do not clean their machines after use. Don't members sign something in regards to ensuing that the machine is good for the next person? 5. Garbage left at machines, and some for days. Don't the staff clean after closing? We are wanting to attend the gym and work out, not socialize and be impeded on what we have come to the gym to do by people coming to the gym and not work out.

Never heard back, called this morning to cancel my membership, was met with slight sarcasm and zero personality character. After reading other recent reviews I was less surprised of my brief interaction. Obvious membership loyalty is not a priority with the club.
Expérience positive: It's a really nice new gym but the membership is convoluted and scummy. I had a membership a couple of months ago and had my bank information change, I had forgotten to update that information at the time, then 2 weeks later when payment was due it didn't go through, instead of being informed about this when it happened, I got an email 30 DAYS later along with a late fee, paying it as impossible as it went up everday until 2 months later it was 250$. I understand the reasoning for late fees but when you neglect informing members of issues that's on you. The employees are very nice and offered to settle it if I joined for 3 months but it's insane it even got to that point. I'm not blaming the club as they were helpful but just be warned before getting a membership.
Expérience négative: Good array of equipment that is generally in good working order. Excellent set of dumbbells. Downsides: Locker room is generally in poor condition (shower heads barely trickle out water, faucets in washroom area either missing or so loose they’re ready to fall out) garbage cans generally overflowing. Most of the full length lockers are unable to actually lock due to the hasps being broken or cut off. This would be an easy fix if management cared; obviously they don’t. Shower stalls are usually filthy (I have noticed the same remnants of bar soap in the corner of one particular shower stall for the last month as well as gobs of chewing gum on the floors of others that never seems to be cleaned up; DISGUSTING). Plates are consistently left on plate loaded machines or left on the floor and none of the staff seem to be bothered about either correcting this or speaking to the offenders. The roof leaks like a sieve and when it rains there are upwards of a dozen buckets on the floor to catch the streams of water coming through, some to no avail as in some areas it lands on the equipment. If you can put up with the inadequacies and general dirt, I suppose it’s worth $10/month. I pay more for the top level of membership but am actively looking for another gym.
Expérience négative: my sister came in the other day to cancel her membership as she was switching to a woman’s only gym and the girl working was super mean to me and saying that i shouldn’t quit and be lazy. it was honestly so disgusting and she kept laughing bc with her coworkers and making me uncomfortable. def never going back there and all my family switched because of the staff.

Expérience négative: Recently i had a bad experience with this gym. I cancelled my membership couple months ago but they are still charging my membership fee. when i talk about refund then they said it is not possible. That is not a good thing.
Expérience positive: This is one of my most frequented Hamilton locations. I think it's the clientele at the gym who are incredibly friendly. Lucas the GM at this location is very approachable and is quick to help resolve issues via email (I've never met him in person) but his diligence is always appreciated. Not all the GMs at the other locations are personable which makes me want to switch my membership home location to this location instead. The only reason why I can't give this location five stars is the fact that this facility is quite run down, despite renovations. The group fitness studio always seems to be too hot temperature wise for classes such as kickbox and Zumba. It's also sad that the roof leaks which makes it difficult when you have to work around the many buckets of puddles. Overall the classes are phenomenal.
Expérience fantastique: This gym truly stands out as a great place to work out! Management and staff provide great support and encouragement in helping you to achieve your goals. There is even a physiotherapist on site along with personal trainers to help you get there. Thanks to the dedicated and motivating instructors the group fitness classes and the HIIT classes are challenging ,fun and provide a great sense of comradery. I have been here almost one year and have lost 45 pounds and in turn improved my overall health and wellbeing. Whether you are a beginner or seasoned gym goer this is a perfect place to pursue your fitness journey and I would definitely recommend.
Expérience négative: Have been charged unknown fee of $25 for no mistake of mine (on the excuse of payment decline) apart from the $60ish Annual fee. I sent email to the Branch Manager Lucas two days ago, no response. Called them, the lady on phone Jaden made me wait twice for 10-15 minutes twice, wasn't helpful and was rude. Said, they are busy and hung up. Also, before purchasing their gym membership look yourself at their Changing Rooms, Washrooms, filthy state of lockers and the entire premises. Hands down it is the worst gym you can ever land in.

When I canceled my membership the boy at the reception said you are all set and your membership is canceled and everything was paid no debts. After 6 months i got an email from the debt recovery department that i need to pay 281 dollars because my membership was not cancelled. I went to the gym to clarify and they said it was not cancelled. Due to the mistake of their staff i have to pay for the amount.
Expérience négative: Do you enjoy dodging buckets and wet floors signs during your workout due to leaky roof? If yes, then this is the gym for you! They had a fire recently which would have been the perfect opportunity to fix the roof, but maintained the poor integrity that has been an ongoing issue when you talk to members that were there when it was five star. Staff rarely checks the floor expecting people to adhere to signage rooms; the front of the gym has clear no parking signs that even staff ignore. As a result, equipment is damaged all the time and takes forever to be repaired; if ever! Knowing staff don’t venture out often people smoke in the change room. If you try to address issues with the gym they do nothing. I’m sure there are building code violations so that easy to take to the next step
Expérience fantastique: I've been with Crunch for the past 2 months and it has been such a wonderful experience! The facilities are great: excellent showers, open and spacious gym floor, a massage area, a huge mirrored studio for classes and bodyweight exercises, HUGE variety of weights, kettlebells and bars. I was with a different gym for a year and, even though they had a larger number of machines (maybe 3 or 4 of each), I have not been missing the quantity since Crunch gives me the quality - there are probably only 1 or 2 of each machine, but they are all fully operational, adjustable, and modern. The massage chair has become something to look forward to every time I'm at the gym, it really is the perfect way to end a hard workout session. The class schedule has been a personal favourite (and one of the main reasons I joined Crunch): the HIIT Zone classes and the dumbbell focused classes are challenging and fun in all the best ways and bring the variety I needed for my workouts. Lucas and Cadyn have been really supportive and attentive and made my experience even better! There is room for improvement - a few machines could use a tune up, and an automatic water fountain wouldn't hurt - but overall, Crunch delivers EXCELLENT service at a fair/low cost. I definitely became a loyal customer (even convinced the boyfriend and friends to join too)!. I look forward to trying out a few PT sessions in the future to help me train for a half marathon this year - the staff is beyond friendly and overall just the highlight of the gym. I highly recommend Crunch Fitness East Mountain.

Expérience négative: I have been a member of Crunch Fitness Gym for a few months now, and while the facilities and equipment are great, I am extremely disappointed with the consistent cancellations of fitness classes. As a paying member, it is disheartening to regularly miss out on the service I signed up for. It not only affects my fitness routine but also makes it difficult to plan my schedule around these classes. The lack of communication and continual cancellations without any reasonable explanation is frustrating. Moreover, the lack of care and consideration shown towards these class cancellations amplifies the feeling of disrespect towards paying members. It seems that the gym's management fails to grasp the importance of ensuring members' satisfaction and meeting their expectations. It is crucial for them to understand that consistent cancellations not only undermine the trust between the gym and its members but also reflect a lack of professionalism. As customers, we expect the services we pay for to be provided consistently and with respect for our time and commitment. I hope the management recognizes the significance of addressing this issue promptly to retain loyal members and maintain the reputation of the gym in the fitness community

Expérience négative: Update: after a year of Crunch ownership and one new HIIT station it's back to being meh. Still waiting on the new cardio equipment and dumbbells I was told would be arriving "shortly". And they need to get rid of the stagnant algee water feature. Update: Less one year after crunch took over I ended up canceling my membership. Facility. Just got filthier and filthier and the staff did not give a shit. There was a used tampon in one of the showers for several weeks and every time I was there I told the staff about it and nobody did anything. And then one day two of the staff were on their break in the change room and we're talking about how they had just gone outside and smoked up and were now high and then we're going to return to work, I told management about it and they didn't seem that concerned despite the fact that those staff are responsible for People's Health and safety.
Expérience positive: This is a great gym, has spacious bathrooms, and even a fountain inside. My only qualms are that the ceiling sometimes leaks and that i wish there were bike stands in the spacious foyer. I would like to ride my bike here rather than drive sometimes, but i heard someone got their bike stolen from out front.

Expérience positive: I get the most for my $ at crunch .I’ve been to many gyms but feel the most comfortable at crunch . Met some really great people that have showed some great routines and the staff is always helpful. Thanks crunch team .

Expérience négative: SEEMED LIKE A NICE PLACE, yet I never got passed the front desk, after signing up and getting inundated by emails and running into app problems, my attempt at going into the place to find clarity was met with silence and more questions, Great they have one year paid for and I have 364 more days of another nightmare gym to go.
Expérience fantastique: Very clean studio. Staff always very pleasant and welcoming. Love the encouraging notes that were collected from the female change room and put into a picture frame :)
Expérience positive: Great staff, great atmosphere and clientel is a good mix ad very helpful. Love this gym ️♂️. Be brave be strong cone to crunch to get it on.
Expérience positive: Great gym and great prices. Never really too busy compared to other gyms. I just wish that classes were available for everyone not just elite members.
Expérience négative: The staff at the front desk is so rude and unprofessional. They came up with a rule asking for personal IDs for guests joining and keep it with them till we are done. You can check the ID and give it back, why would you want to keep it open on the desk for everyone. The other Locations don’t have this crazy rule.
Expérience négative: What a poor excuse for a dumbbell section. Aesthetically, the club looks nicer than it’s previous business, 5-Star, but the gym itself is mediocre at best. Members don’t respect other members workouts.
Expérience fantastique: Great place, lots of fun for kids! Great prices and food! Friendly and professional staff! Minigolf wait times too long as they are always busy with lots of people but they have other great activities to do and really good food and ice cream while you wait. Would highly reccomend!
Expérience positive: A clean, well laid out gym floor area. Lot s of cardio equipment above the gym floor. Nestled in a quiet part of the Hammer you will find peacefully, and productive to your fitness goals. Crunch is a leading place to get your body ready for spring, summer. !!!!!
Expérience positive: To be fair I only came here once for a free trial It was my first time ever in a gym/working out so I thought it would be very intimidating but it really wasn't the gym is nice and open and the others there seem to really nice no one really stares at you and everyone is just kinda in there own world wich is nice the only thing I wished they did was give a tour I get it's free and that but would have been nice to know where everything is and maybe how to work some things seemed pretty clean change room was very neat clean and well kept according to my friend (male)
Expérience positive: The price of 136 bucks for the year was great. The quality of the machines is probably the reason for the price. Not enough equipment for bodybuilders. Machines that are there, are falling apart,have been painted over terribly, and need alot of attention
Expérience fantastique: Since I start Crunch Fitness, I have lose 25 pounds and I feel very good. The gym is very clean and the equipments are in very good condition . I am very happy with the price I pay. I do recommend Crunch Fitness- Hamilton East.
Expérience positive: Crunch did a great job on the long awaited renovations at the Stonechurch location. The gym looks fantastic. Hopefully they keep up with the maintenance of the machines as five star/Crunch has not in the past.
Expérience négative: Very very humid and hot in the gym. It seems like there’s no circulation at all. It’s usually always packed with people no matter the time of day and the machines are not in great condition. The majority of them have a ton of rust on it and they are just not enjoyable to use. Hopefully they upgrade their machines.
Expérience positive: One of the best location- good amount of equipment and weight rack- latest cardio machine, lot of dumbbell racks and machines. Locker and shower are clean. Only thing missing is a stretching machine/area so gave 4 stars. One suggestion would be to add more paper and sanitiser station for equipment cleaning- they are scattered at the exteme ends. would be good to add them in between.
Expérience négative: This gym is a scam. Rope you in with low costs and then will randomly charge you hundreds throughout the year in nonsensical fees. Also a run down gym that is constantly crowded.
Expérience négative: Very disappointing. Forcing people to submit ID card and personal stuff is disgusting. No respect for members. False promises while joining gym. Don’t join here you will be disrespected every day. Your members are your customers not thieves.
Expérience positive: The facility has a lot of space and equipment. Everything is in good condition and it has a large change room and showers. Cant wait for the hydro massage next! Great trainer and great customer support
Expérience fantastique: Great gym. Lots of machines, which means little time wasted, waiting on one to free up. Staff are friendly even while off the clock. Change rooms are clean, although a few lockers need to be repaired. Other than that, no complaining from me
Expérience négative: Garbage owner. Garbage managers. Garbage trainers. Garbage gym. Jared the owner had the audacity to admit he made a $930 mistake with my account, and tried to refund me less than I was owed despite the charges being laid out in black and white in my complaint to the better business bureau. Basic math is hard for some people I guess. I look forward to never having to communicate with anyone from this terrible organization again
Expérience positive: I just signed up :P I have been to 3 locations. Waterdown, Stone Church, and Upper James. There are only two downsides to Crunch Fitness I can even think of. 1) they claim they have saunas - however the only location I’ve found which has a sauna (being upper James location) has shut it down. Very disappointing :( 2) It’s pretty busy most times. (I usually go at peak hours on week days and mornings on weekends. I can attest that if you plan on going during these hours, you will probably be waiting for machines. But the price for the membership and what you get is just unparalleled. You get real bang for your buck.
