Chocolate Lake Recreation Centre

Expérience fantastique: A hidden gem of a neighbourhood rec centre. Great programs, wonderful staff, a variety of room rental types. Centrally located, with transit access and parking. It shows its age in a few spots, but that adds to its charm. This vintage repurposed school doesn't look fancy from the outside, but it's one of my favourite HRM Rec facilities.

Expérience positive: Basic functional weight room in basement of local rec centre. Inexpensive at $5.85 and quite clean and organized. An attendant was on duty one of the days. Two rooms with 4 cardio machines and a mix of free weights and cable machines. Medium sized so could get crowded though fine with the 6-8 people I when there. Change room only had a few lockers which need own lock. I brought my gym bag in and hung on hook.

Expérience positive: Used the dance studio. Mirrors in 2 or 3 sides of the wall would be better; found mirror in one side of the wall. Restroom was wide and clean. Overall it was a good experience.

Expérience fantastique: Chocolate Lake Recreational Centre is a quiet but popular place which opposites the Chocolate Lake Beach. There is a gym&weight room, a multipurpose studio and a children care section. You can also see the Nova Scotia Life-saving office at the basement. It's good to hang out there to check what can meet your needs for activities.

Expérience positive: Great place for kids to play and so many different programs they offer. Lack of infrastructure and management are the cons!

Expérience positive: The people running these programs work very hard to put on great programs for the children. The building however is in need of a lot of work, Halifax is really neglecting this building site.

Expérience positive: It's not the top rec centre but it's ok got all facilities but is a very old centre

Expérience fantastique: wonderful place to swim and take a rest. even though it is definitely lake, it is like small beach. not deep. warmer than ocean. i saw three lifeguards there.

Expérience négative: Haven't been there in a while so the staff might be different. I took a class there as a kid. A girl did something really rude to me during the class, started an argument, and the staff without hesitation turned on me and were hostile towards me over nothing that I did. I left the class and later asked for a refund because I didn't want to be in that environment, and was refused. I've had a bad taste for this place ever since.

Expérience négative: Great little rec center, lady at the front desk was cranky. She interuped while I was talking often and her demeanor was quite rude. My experience with Halifax Rec has almost always been a positive one until I had to go in and interact with this lady.

Expérience positive: Pretty dingy and old. Cheap memberships. Will never step foot in again as its depressing.

Expérience positive: The facility is not state of the art and is showing its age, but as a municipal rec centre it has a decent little gym and some nice rec spaces.

Expérience positive: Taking a course there now on photography, they have a professional who has been a photographer since the 70s and is still a professional in the feild. Friendly staff, clean venue and it is very cozy.
