Expérience négative: After nearly 8 years as a loyal member, I finally left this gym. The last few years have been an absolute disaster. The quality of service and the philosophy have completely changed. Nothing like it used to be. What I see today is that more and more people are realizing that this gym has only one goal: to take members’ money without caring about their comfort or their feedback. Customer service is nonexistent, and management is purely disastrous. The price stayed the same (if not higher) after the pandemic. Meanwhile, services have been drastically reduced: no more pool, no more sauna, schedules all over the place… Nothing has been done to improve the member experience. All we get are empty words. The final straw was the spinning class. The only reason I kept my membership. The instructor is absolutely phenomenal. But even then, in every class, 10 out of 20 bikes were broken. When I raised the issue, here’s what management told me: “We don’t focus on spinning. It’s a bodybuilder gym.” Really? 99% of members are not bodybuilders. They’re regular people who just want to stay fit and enjoy the facilities. But that’s not all. What truly made me leave was a racist and humiliating incident. One evening, I brought a lost wallet to the front desk. Moments later, after a pointless discussion with an incompetent employee, I was accused of theft simply because I’m dark-skinned, muscular, and “imposing.” Yes, an employee outright called me a thief. And even worse, management told me it was “normal to think that given my appearance.” I tried to follow up. Total silence. I had to contact the regional director to get a half-hearted response, which was never satisfactory. Why pay such a high price for service that is not only mediocre, but discriminatory? The lack of respect, poor management, broken equipment, absence of listening, and above all the racial prejudice I experienced all of this means I will never set foot in this place again. You should really return to your pre-pandemic philosophy, when members were your priority, not their wallets.

Expérience négative: victime d'agression, punie au lieu d'être protégée - un gym à fuir - Une personne, membre depuis plus de 3 ans, a été agressée parce qu'elle est musulmane. Résultat? Elle se fait suspendre ainsi que l’agresseur. Décision de World Gym Quebec... Se défendre contre la haine, c'est ici interdit même avec des preuves solides de l'agression. Ce gym envoie un message clair: les minorités visibles n'y ont aucune protection, aucune sécurité. C'est une honte totale. Si vous êtes sensible au racisme ou à la haine gratuite, passez votre chemin. Tant que ce gym ne change pas, il ne mérite aucune confiance.

Expérience négative: I am writing this review out of deep disappointment. Once a standout gym in the community, this place has gone from inspiring to infuriating—especially when it comes to the spin bikes. Instead of fixing or upgrading the outdated, broken screens / machines, management simply ripped them off entirely. In 2025, that’s not a solution, that’s an insult. For our spin community , those screens were essential for tracking performance, progress, and proper technique. Now? We’re left spinning blind. After years of asking for repairs and getting radio silence, the answer was to remove the problem—literally—so no one could complain. Meanwhile, there seems to be other upgrades and new lavish equipment being added, clearly catering to the “bodybuilding” crowd while ignoring long-time members and functional equipment. What are the priorities here? Disappointment? Off the charts. This gym has some amazinggg instructors and we have built such a great community, motivation and friendships. It is saddening that members should feel dismissed and unheard.

If I had to rate this gym years ago it would have been a 5/5 however things have changed through the course of last few years and with that so has my rating of this gym. I am not one to write google reviews but recent events compel me. I am writing this review to express my ongoing frustration and disappointment regarding the quality and maintenance of your spinning bikes and recent removal of the screens, a functional feature that spinners utilize to optimize training and gauge performance. I raised these concerns multiple times — both verbally and in writing over the past few years. Most recently, the decision was made to remove all screens from the spinning bikes — including those that were still functional. These screens were essential for tracking resistance, speed, and performance, providing members with a measurable and effective workout. Without them, the quality of the class experience has significantly diminished. I always made an effort to arrive early to secure one of the few bikes that still had a working screen. Now, that option is completely gone. It is disappointing that the reasoning provided behind the removal of the spinning bike screens is solely based on financial assumptions that the repair costs would not have a return on investment. Members like myself pay a premium membership fee along with annual maintenance costs which are on the rise. We expect not only upkeep but also improvements over time — not a gradual removal of services and amenities. This is not an isolated incident but part of a wider decline in the facility’s services and overall maintenance. Over the years, I’ve seen the following regressions: • The gym’s operating hours reduced from 24/7 to limited access; • The removal of the pool, whirlpool, and steam sauna; • Decreased janitorial staffing and hours, affecting cleanliness; • Cancelled and unreplaced group and spin classes; • Consistently broken spin bikes with no action taken or proposed resolution and long delays to repair broken cardio and weight training machines. It is difficult to understand why certain equipment, like cardio machines, are routinely repaired or replaced, yet the spinning bikes are left to deteriorate. Even more baffling is the fact that Gold’s Gym Laval still maintains spinning bikes with screens. Why is Ville Saint-Laurent being treated differently? I was recently informed by a manager that Gold’s Gym is "primarily a bodybuilding gym," and therefore, group fitness classes are not a priority. This comment is disappointing and demonstrates a lack of understanding of your diverse membership base. Gold’s Gym has built its global reputation by catering to people of all ages, fitness levels, and goals — not just bodybuilders. As a loyal member of this location for the past 13 years, it saddens me to see such a steep decline in the services that once made this gym stand out. The instructors remain excellent, the variety and quantity of cardio and weight training machines is great, the janitorial staff are hard working, the snack bar including the owner/staff are just amazing, management staff are friendly but the lack of responsiveness from management as a whole regarding gym member concerns is inexcusable. Unless this issue is addressed and some action is taken to restore the screens or upgrade the spinning experience, I will seriously reconsider renewing my membership. Gold’s Gym has the potential to do better — and I urge you to listen to the voices of your loyal members and make decisions that reflect your commitment to providing high-quality service.

Expérience négative: A Concerned Yet Hopeful Message from a Devoted Spinning Member More recently, over twenty-five dedicated members who regularly attend spinning classes came together and agreed that action was needed to bring attention to the poor maintenance of the spinning bikes. We collectively decided to prepare and sign a letter addressed to management. Unfortunately, and to our surprise, management responded before hand by removing all the screens from the bikes. This decision reflects a clear misunderstanding of the essential role these screens play in the spinning experience. Removing them, rather than repairing them, is not a viable solution — it only deepens our frustration. Would one lift weights without knowing how much they're lifting? Would someone run on a treadmill without setting speed or incline to meet their goals? Spinning is no different. Riders need data to gauge their performance by adjusting resistance and speed based on the instructor’s guidance, then measuring results such as average wattage during a session. Without the screens, the bikes are reduced to stationary bikes with no feedback or functionality. 2. Unanswered Member Communications Several members have reached out to management by email, expressing concerns on behalf of the broader community. These messages have gone unanswered. This lack of response is not only unprofessional but suggests a disregard for your loyal clientele. 3. Impact on Our Spinning Community Spinning is a central part of our fitness routines. Our community is especially strong around instructors like Emma and Rami. Emma’s classes are consistently full, and Rami’s classes were gaining strong momentum before his vacation. Management should recognize the value these instructors and classes bring to the gym. 4. Membership Implications As paying members, we expect a reasonable standard of equipment maintenance and customer service. The continued failure to maintain basic spinning equipment, in our view, breaches the expectations tied to our membership. Personally, I now expect to be released from my contract so I can pursue my passion in a facility that offers professionally maintained equipment. If your gym no longer considers functional spinning classes a priority, it should immediately remove any related promotional material from your website so as not to mislead potential new members. Conclusion This message is not intended as criticism for its own sake but comes from a place of passion for our routines, our instructors, and this gym. We sincerely hope management will listen to its committed members and take the necessary steps to address these concerns. Should these issues be resolved appropriately, I along with other members would be open to updating our reviews accordingly. We have also asked other members to hold off posting an further reviews. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed the variety of equipment, the friendly staff, and the atmosphere that always motivated me to keep coming back. However, I was really disappointed recently when management decided to remove the screen bikes instead of repairing them. Those bikes were a key part of my routine not just because they provided a great workout, but because the built‑in screens made long sessions engaging and enjoyable. What makes it worse is that the remaining bikes don’t even have any indication to show the resistance level. It’s frustrating not to know how intense your workout really is, and it feels like a step backward in terms of quality and user experience. I honestly don’t know what happened for the management to take this unexpected decision, and what truly bothers me is that it was done without any care for the members’ opinions. After so many years as a Gold member, it’s disheartening to see equipment removed rather than maintained, and to lose features that helped track and improve workouts. I still appreciate the gym overall, but I sincerely hope management listens to longtime members and reconsiders decisions like this in the future.

The machines are placed with enough space for my electric wheelchair. It's even ground floor and easy to move around without feeling pressured or rushed. Plus there's a private woman's gym upstairs for my caregiver to go have a workout ! Thank u for giving me a space to get healthy.

Expérience négative: DO NOT RECOMMEND - spend less and go to Econofitness or Nautilus. I was a member of Gold's Gym for the last year. I had heard great things about the facility years ago and unfortunately the options in Ville St-Laurent are limited. I have been very disappointed during the last year as I find the gym to be dark and overly busy and the locker rooms and washrooms are almost always filthy. Yesterday was the last straw for me, I brought my partner with me to get a membership (as mentioned, options are limited) and he was outright refused access by the manager Yeannie who was unable to provide an explanation other than saying he was "banned". Yeannie continuously referred to the fact that she had no further information, that it was a directive from her boss Dimitar, and that we should call him. Then, when Yeannie proceeded to call Dimitar, there was no answer. I have never been more appauled by such a lack of professionalism, particularly from an establishment that is supposed to represent top tier service in the fitness industry.

Expérience fantastique: Being pretty clueless about gym, I was served by Homan. He was patient, friendly and very informative about how the Gym works. He helped me find the right program and answered my needs in terms of of service. Another time, JP at the entrance helped getting needed items like a jump rope and a belt. Very efficient and kind. Also, this place is huge. I'm never waiting for any machine our equipment.
