Expérience négative: This is my first visit and I won’t be returning because of the smell. The best way I can describe it is a mixture of something putrid/sour and burnt hair. I had to cut my workout short because I couldn’t deal with it anymore.

Expérience positive: What’s the point of having policies if staff don’t enforce any? The most egregious is the patrons who just drop their weights on the machines, making incredibly loud noises. It is not the responsibility of customers to let staff know when this is happening, because its not like it isn't obvious! Staff just need to learn to be proactive!

Expérience fantastique: Terrific gym. Lots of space and equipment, not overcrowded (peak times are what they are), staff are always friendly, equipment breaks like at every gym in existence, but it’s usually only down for a week or two then it gets fixed. I’ve also seen how the staff treat other people and they’re always kind and professional. I’m not sure what other people in the comments are complaining about, but if they think the staff are rude and unprofessional, they’re probably giving the staff a headache and are being dealt with in kind. I definitely recommend this gym. If I had one critique, I wish they had Kleenex in the locker rooms so you wouldn’t have to go outside to get paper towel or use toilet paper, but that’s honestly my only critique.

Expérience négative: Yesterday evening, I witnessed a deeply upsetting incident at this establishment. A group of young Indian men were openly mocking, pointing at, and laughing at another man because of his sexual orientation. I stepped in to call out their behavior, only to be told to “stay quiet” because, according to them, a woman has no right to speak to them. I was shocked — they treated me as if we were in a country where such misogynistic behavior is tolerated. I strongly believe that no one should bring sexist, outdated customs into a country like this , a country that stands for freedom, respect, and love. Discrimination and hatred have no place here. I hope the management takes these issues seriously and ensures that their spaces remain safe and inclusive for everyone.

Expérience négative: As a gay person it is uncomfortable to exercise and have the same gym members point at you and make jokes about your sexuality. And to go to the front desk and not take it seriously that you are being insulted and intimidated by a group of disrespectful people when respect is one of the main conditions to be there. It got to the point that these guys, 4 to be exact, came up to us making homophobic comments insulting my friend (girl) just for the simple fact that she told them to stop making fun of us, file a report, and they made fun of us in front of the worker and didn't do anything about it. It doesn't make me feel safe or included, and it's always the same group of people who spend their time looking at the girls in a morbid way. Please take care of Us cause I Don’t feel safe in there or leaving the gym with that people there

Expérience négative: I rarely leave reviews but my experience at this gym has been consistently frustrating and disappointing. Many of the machines are broken or in poor condition and it’s clear that maintenance is not a priority. Some equipment has been out of order for weeks with no sign of being fixed. The front desk staff makes the experience even worse especially. They are completely unprofessional and have zero customer service skills. Anytime you ask a simple question or bring up an issue, they give a rude or dismissive response and then immediately refer you to a manager just to avoid dealing with anything themselves. It’s obvious they just want to get out of helping in any way. In the evenings, it gets even worse. The staff at that time are usually talking loudly among themselves and there’s often a girl sitting on the upper slab near the front desk with her legs hanging down. It looks extremely unprofessional and awkward for customers walking in to scan their tags. It gives off the impression that no one takes the place or the members seriously.

Expérience négative: Extremely predatory with billing. The "bi weekly" bill payments seem to come out within less of a week of each other most of the time. When I signed up they drained over $120 from my bank and when confronted, they said it was "policy" and "sign up fees".. I signed up during a promo, there wasn't supposed to be that hefty of fees, I was told it would be reduced by 50% . The last straw with them is this last week when they've charged me $105. Seriously. Unless you just dont care about your money or being stolen from, do not do business with this gym.

After that, membership dues are billed biweekly from your sign-up date. If a scheduled payment is unsuccessful, you’ll receive an email notification, and the system will automatically reattempt the payment 10 days later. This can sometimes result in charges appearing close together, especially as regular payments continue.

Expérience fantastique: I have been coming to the Deerfoot location for 4 years and I like it very much. Very good equipments, the staff are very friendly. Abby and Amanda the night shift ladies are very friendly and always have a good attitude, they always tidy up the gym and make sure it’s clean. They should get a raise!! I would recommend this gym a lot!

Expérience négative: To the kind staff, thank you for all you do! You guys and girls are wonderful, the staff get 5/5, always friendly, polite and pleasant! Especially night shift ladies!! The men’s locker room however… some of these members should have the memberships revoked. No respect for the facility, the employees, nor other members. The sauna stinks so bad some times. To the point you can’t even sit in there, guys go in there with out showering first? Disgusting,. The shower floors filthy, do NOT step on those floors with out sandals. There are rules for using the sauna, certain individuals do not adhere. Some of these kids here must have maids at home, leaving their towels all over the floor and in the showers?? Always be sure to wipe your machine BEFORE use, I’ve seen so many people, profusely sweating, and not clean it up. I get it is a gym, but let’s try to respect the facility where other individuals also work on their physical fitness, and other people have to work!

Expérience fantastique: I have being going to the GoodLife Gym since April last year and have nothing but positive things to say. The gym is clean, has good number of equipments and busy. Staff are courteous and helpful. Huge shoutout to my personal trainer Angelina, who is a great support in my wellness journey. She is empathetic, kind and an amazing human and of course a great trainer!!!

Expérience négative: GoodLife Fitness is a SCAM – They Will Steal Your Money! I am absolutely livid with GoodLife Fitness and their shady, predatory business practices. If you’re thinking about signing up, DON’T. They will find a way to keep your money, even after you cancel. Here’s what happened: My partner and I signed up for the family plan in late 2024. In December, my partner called to cancel her membership. What did GoodLife tell her? “You can’t cancel because your partner is the policyholder—he has to do it.” So, on January 7, 2025, I called and canceled the entire account. Fast forward to today, and they refuse to refund me for the extra charges they kept taking from my account AFTER the cancellation. Their excuse? “Your partner never canceled.” Excuse me?? YOU told her she couldn’t cancel without me. Then when I canceled, you suddenly pretend her account was still active and keep charging me? That is fraud. I spoke to the local manager, who refused to refund me. His excuse? “GoodLife is a corporation, and I don’t have your money.” Red flag #1: Hiding behind corporate policies instead of doing the right thing. Red flag #2: Refusing to acknowledge their own shady double standard. Red flag #3: Wouldn’t even give me his name—because he knows this is wrong. Let me be crystal clear: GoodLife Deerfoot City is NOT a business you can trust. Their cancellation process is designed to be confusing so they can keep charging you. We have been trying to cancel for over 3 months now, December, January and now February, all the while getting charged for down right shady run around business practices. So fine—keep my money. But I’m making sure everyone knows exactly what kind of scam GoodLife Fitness is running. If you’re considering signing up, RUN. This company will take your money and then gaslight you about it. Game on, GoodLife.

Expérience négative: Why was I charged a full months membership, barely a week after applying, when I was told I’d be charged bi weekly, and literally just paid them $67, a joining fee and two weeks of membership, less than 7 days ago… I didn’t even get two weeks out of being charged for it!!! … why is even more money being withdrawn from my account than initially promised??? Another gym that just drains client bank accounts without a second thought. They’ve taken over $120 from me in less than a span of a week. Deplorable. I’ll be calling to cancel my membership as soon as they open.

Although this was not my first gym membership, it marked the beginning of a significant personal transformation. Prabul's expertise and personalized approach have been instrumental in my progress. His patient guidance and gradual intensity increases have consistently pushed me beyond my perceived limits. Additionally, his respectful demeanor and attentiveness to my concerns made me feel at ease throughout our sessions. As well, Prabul is more than just a trainer - he has been a mentor, offering invaluable advice that extends far beyond the gym. Expérience négative: I have rated this location for 1 star, not because of their facilities or machines.Everything is really good expect their trainer Mark. Today in the gym not only was he unreasonable but also rude and disrespectful. If the management wants to save their reputation they should fire him. I had put on the plates on the leg press and before beginning my sets I went to fill in my water bottle. My earphones were lying on the leg press.In my absence Mark came there with his client and started removing the plates. When I went back in 3-4 min I noticed that and told him to put the plates back as I was using the machine. He rudely replied that you can’t keep the machine busy for 20-30 min. I was surprised at his obnoxious behaviour. I told him that it just took me 3-4 min and I went to fill in my water bottle which was quite reasonable. He started using the leg press and ignored me. I felt so awful and belittled. When I told him that I will complain to the manager, he was least bothered and said yes I can go and complain and he doesn’t give a damn about it. I became so anxious and frustrated and went to the manager.They tried calming down the situation and sympathised with me but Mark left the whole scene without any apology. I strongly feel that if the gym wants to maintain their reputation they should fire such ill mannered people.

Profesional, polite and he also helped me to get the right training for my goals. I met many trainers at this facility all of them are recommended. Reshma, Ryan, Angelina, Mark, Keshia, Kyle, Prabul, Andrea and Lisa. Thank you all trainers for the knowledge and encouragement to keep me going.

Expérience fantastique: A few months ago, I realized that my gym membership was basically an expensive keychain decoration because, let’s be real, I never actually used it. I was stuck in a fitness rut, unhappy with how I looked, how I felt, and how my shoulder liked to randomly remove itself from its socket. Enter Angelina. Our first meeting involved measurements, and let’s just say it was the kind of wake-up call that makes you question every burrito and slice of cheese you’ve ever eaten. Since then, I’ve been seeing her twice a week, and now? My shoulder is firmly in it’s joint, no longer playing the escape artist (seriously, after years of daily dislocations!). I feel strong, confident, and less like a human marshmallow. If you need someone to whip you into shape or fix your rogue joints, Angelina is your girl. You’ll thank her (and maybe curse her during the workouts), but it’ll be worth it! And, while I appreciate Angelina, I think my husband likes her more for bringing my butt back.

She brings energy and new ideas (no 2 workouts are ever the same) and a gentle but firm approach which made me push myself further than I ever thought I could. Expérience négative: The gym space is good however, the staff are terrible. I no longer have a membership. When I go to a gym, I expect the trainers and staff to be healthy. Obese personal trainers is an oxymoron. Not worth your time.

One of the highlights of this gym is the new recovery room, it's simply amazing. It has all the tools you need for recovering and healing up for your next day. The staff have been very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Very good customer service. I was pointed in the right direction and my questions were answered. Overall, good location, good staff, and full of good workouts.

Expérience positive: It was fine, though could have been better. WAY too many people, took about 10 minutes to use every station, and plates were usually nowhere to be found. Even when I come in the morning, stations are drenched in sweat! People here have no manners and workers could care less.

Expérience négative: The front desk girl in the early morning is not at all friendly making it a negative start to gym sessions! She can barely say good morning or a simple hello, maybe find a job where you don’t have to talk to people? Usually when I leave by 6:45am it’s someone else and I find them to be very friendly! Ladies change room lockers are always disgusting filled with hair.

Expérience négative: As far as a gym goes, it's fine. The membership is ridiculous. There are lots of cute emails every day and a card to fill out regarding your personal life, but not one simple layout of the billing details. Random unscheduled payments taken and no details on when payments will be taken. Typical shady gym membership, I can only pray they don't burn me if I cancel, but based on the lack of transparency so far , I bet its going to cost me.

Expérience négative: Big gym. For maintenance of equipment minus 10 stars. Some equipment is down for months at time. Leg Extension Hundles been broken since open. Cable repair takes weeks to repair, why don't they have them in stock? I know there are lot of different sizes. The gym is busy should stay on top for maintenance. 4 friends and I had enough are trying Gold Gym so for they are on top of their equipment.

Expérience positive: I like this gym 24/7 gym, but it could improve. The staff is super friendly. The gym offers sauna and tanning as well as classes. It has lockers and showers. The downside is that it is impossible to get machines mainly between 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm. Despite there is a good variety of machines to workout all your body parts, more equipment is needed, mainly when the machines are constantly being fixed. On one hand, it is good to give them maintenance. On the other hand, it always takes days and days to get them fixed, so it becomes problematic as there aren't many of the most used machines.

Expérience positive: As someone who's been using goodlife for the last 3 years, I've come to notice a lot of things specific to deerfoot city compared to a lot of other goodlifes in calgary. And that's that a lot of the personal trainers don't wipe off the equipment they use or have there clients do it, other than that I'm very pleased with the new renovations they've done and while continue to use this gym 5 to 6 days a week. It's just that cleanliness is a big factor in deciding a gym and the fact that they it's below them because they're wearing a red t shirt and usually only having their clients do one or two sets is what really gets to me

Expérience négative: I used to visit this location regularly as it was convenient for my work schedule. What has happened in the last 18-24 months?! I visited a few times over the last couple of weeks at around 2:00AM and each time it looks like a bomb went off inside. Equipment strewn about, weights and used paper towels all over the floor. The locker rooms were even worse. Used towels and garbage all over the floor, more salt/dirt inside the lockers than on the sidewalks outside and several locker doors hanging off the hinges. What a disgrace!

It was a bit busy but despite that I still didn’t have to wait for any equipment, that’s because they have multiple machines that do the same thing. I travel a lot and tend to workout at many gyms along my travels. This was one of the best gyms I’ve had the pleasure to workout at. Highly recommend this club. Keep up the good work.

We recently each had a 90 minute session (March 12, 2024) at the Deerfoot City GoodLife Fitness location to re-introduce us to the circuit training machines. Elle, assisting us in setting up the session(s). She was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and was available the morning of our session(s) to greet us and make sure things went smoothly. It meant a lot to us that Elle was so engaged in the set up and follow up of our session(s). Kudos to Elle for your great service! My session was with Marcus, Fitness Manager, and Ella’s session was with personal trainer, Kyle. Ella and I were very happy with the outstanding service we received from Marcus and Kyle. They gathered information to help understand our fitness needs, showed us how to use the machines and explained how they related to our needs and then provided us with a written summary of the session for reference. Lastly, they advised they were always around and available to answer any questions we may have. Many thanks to Marcus and Kyle for providing us with an exemplary and customized session to get us back on track with the circuit training machines. Everyone has always been friendly when we are in the gym and since our session, Marcus, Kyle and Elle always go the extra mile and find the time to greet us and ask if we need anything when they see us. It’s such a great feeling to be valued!

Expérience positive: Thanks for all the new equipment!!! Any chance of one more smith machine? I go to this location at 3:30 am, it's almost impossible to get a smith machine during the day. Even at 3:30 am you can wait 30 minutes to get a turn. People with shoulder issues can't really use free weights. I noticed there is at least one ab machine out of order on most visits. The 130th location has a life fitness crunch machine, it's an amazing machine, would be a great addition to this location. Again, thanks for the new equipment!!⁸

Expérience positive: Just started coming to this gym as it had more positive reviews than Beacon Hill. I like the gym but I barely see anyone wiping down their machines/weights. I do wipe beforehand and after but wish people had more of an etiquette to wipe down after their hands have been on it. It would be ideal if there was more signage on it.

Expérience positive: Good sized gym with a great selection of equipment. Management and staff are great. Recently added a bunch of new machines. There seems to be more of a certain demographic recently that don't wipe down equipment after usage, leave their litter and towels laying around the locker room and gym floor, and who don't wash their hands after using the washrooms. It's unfortunate that I find myself avoiding this gym location around exam times or when I have work deadlines approaching to avoid getting sick, and I don't feel it's fair to the paying members who respect the shared space.

Expérience fantastique: Mark is an excellent personal trainer with over 20 years of Mauy Thai experience that he leverages into his MMA boot camp. The sessions not only provide an excellent cardio workout but also offer a valuable opportunity to grasp the fundamentals of MMA. Mark has great energy, and despite pushing you to work hard, somehow, you leave each session with more energy than when you started. A solid 5/5 stars!

Expérience négative: Nice location. However, every Sunday the men changing rooms and bathrooms don’t get clean or sanitized. Please have someone in Sunday that can sanitize the showers and clean the lockers area. Is absolutely essential to have that area cleaned.
