Expérience fantastique: Working with Vanessa Smith, personal trainer, has been an incredible experience. She is not only highly knowledgeable in her field, but also brings a level of enthusiasm and positivity that makes every session enjoyable. Her guidance and expertise were instrumental in helping me stabilize after hip surgery, and thanks to her support, I’m now able to hike 20 km on a regular basis again — something I wasn’t sure I’d ever be able to do. I am so grateful to be able to hike above the clouds ⛅️, thank you Vanessa for that! As a side note, Vanessa is just a genuinely fun and wonderful person to be around. Her energy is contagious, and she makes even the toughest workouts feel rewarding. I can’t recommend her enough!

Expérience négative: No parking at all the location doesn’t make sense if you’re driving. Main door closes after 10pm. Sidedoor also is locked and you have to ring the bell from the sìde door and wait for the front desk. Super unconvenient.

Expérience négative: The good - Bank is a cool idea, cardio area is well lit and the architectual ambiance in the main room is really cool. The bad - Staff disengaged and not friendly when I visited. Free weights room is tight and very poorly lit. Limited options for weights as the space is huge but they opted to keep the large room instead of having another mezzanine. Overall - Fine for a visit but I wouldn't want this to be my home gym. If it was, I would be looking elsewhere.

Expérience fantastique: This is arguably the most beautiful GoodLife I’ve visited. Came in on a work trip for stampede which should be a busy weekend. There are so many machines that it’s perfect to get your workout in the perfect amount of time you require. I’ll definitely be visiting again

Expérience fantastique: I had a one-on-one session with Dominic and was very impressed. He was kind, patient, and explained in detail how to properly perform each of the exercises I requested. Expérience négative: I stopped showering after my workout because so much mold has grown in the men's locker room that it has become literally a biohazard. Unless they're planning to film The Last of Us downstairs, the poor cleanliness in this place is unbearable.

Expérience négative: It’s definitely a cool building and holds a lot of history but that’s the only pro I can think of. The machine selection is pretty sparse (no preacher, no incline chest, no hack squat etc.). A lot of their machines are Hoist brand which isn’t the worst when it comes to things like chest press, shoulder press and a few others but their seated leg curl, abductor and adductor machines are terrible in my opinion. Dumbbells only go up to 75lbs, so once you're forced to switch over to an alternative exercise when you get strong enough. There are very few mirrors which makes it hard to experiment with new exercises. The changerooms are tiny and they get pretty packed especially in the late afternoon/evening. This is the worst GoodLife that I’ve been to and I’ve been to over a dozen of them. There’s always a few things that I don’t love about most gyms, but this gym just has way too many of those for me.

Expérience négative: I used to love this place. Clean, spacious, friendly staff. It felt safe. Or so I thought. That idea crumbled when my wife had her boots stolen. Inside the gym. Inside a bank, for god’s sake! There are cameras everywhere, mandatory check-in at the door. But it’s all for show, like a Disney attraction. It looks secure, but it’s not real. They told me they couldn’t identify the suspect. Honestly, it’s unbelievable. The trust is gone. It’s all fairy dust now.

Expérience positive: This location is fine but it's the closest gym to me and I end up going to a different one because the equipment isn't great. If they added a decline bench, deadlift platforms, and some heavier dumbells I'd make it my regular gym and change this to 5 stars. Would save me a lot of time out of my day

Someone left a negative review because they turn the lights off at closing time- what do you expect? You should be changed and out by 5, when they close, not wrapping up your workout. Expérience négative: Very beautiful in terms of aesthetic. That’s about all the place has above any other location. Equipment is standard to any other GL but free weights don’t go above 75lbs. We visited from out of town and entered through a door we saw someone leave through while we were crossing the road. I did find it odd that there wasn’t a scan in right away but have been to lots of GL locations that have the boots before scanning in. Instead of being greeted we were just glared at from the 3 workers at the desk for 2 minutes then when we approached the desk to scan in were told “to enter through the right door next time” Not sure why so much attitude was needed if the “incorrect” is unlocked from the outside and doesn’t set off an alarm, seems to be more like negligence from management since the issue can easily be resolved with either an additional scanner at that entrance or simply lock it! It’s a shame such a beautiful location gets brought down by the poor staffing choices.

Expérience négative: Well I could do without having one of the front desk associates hitting on my hubby (right in front of me), the very same associate who signed us up together. Little odd. But anyways, it’s a clean and bright facility, bit limited on equipment options. I prefer the nearby Mount Royal location, better equipment and more appropriately behaved staff.
Expérience négative: Summary (regarding two employees, Kiya and James/Jake (he refused to provide his name)): You are nobody here. You will be interrupted, yelled at, and even sworn at. The staff does not care if you are running late (they have a strict schedule and refuse to wait for anyone). This is not a store, so customer service is non-existent. They feel entitled to refuse to introduce themselves, and most importantly, they will outright tell you, "If you don’t like it, please don’t come here." Oh, and according to the staff, the manager is fully aware of their behavior and is completely fine with it. So, if you’re looking for a gym where you’ll be treated like cattle despite paying for their services, this is the place for you. Detailed Description: Good evening. I really wish I didn’t have to write this, but unfortunately, the situation leaves me no choice. Let me clarify upfront: I am the spouse of the person who left the previous review, and we visit this gym together. Today, at the reception, we once again encountered the same employee who turns off the lights exactly at 5 PM, completely disregarding people who are still changing. When asked to introduce herself (at least to provide her name), she responded by yelling and making threats. After approaching the reception desk and simply glancing at her name tag, we went to another area to change our shoes. A few minutes later, this employee (her name is Kiya, by the way – she approached us without her name tag, but we had already seen it earlier) and her apparent close friend, who also works at the gym, came over to us. They immediately started accusing us of looking at her name tag without notifying the staff. They then brought up a previous incident (last Saturday at 5 PM, when we went to change clothes exactly at closing time, and the lights in all the locker rooms were turned off without warning, causing me to almost trip and fall). They explained that this is a gym, and the staff leaves exactly at the time indicated on the door. Any attempt to respond was met with them talking over each other, asserting that they are in charge and decide who gets to stay and who doesn’t. I understand that there may be operational guidelines, but does that mean basic human decency goes out the window? For five minutes straight, they berated us, telling us how wrong we were and how this isn’t a store but a shopping center, and since we "aren’t buying anything, no one is obligated to wait for us." Any further attempts to explain ourselves were met with dismissive hand gestures, smiles, and comments about our "poor English" and how we "don’t even understand what we’re saying." Then came the swearing. When we tried to ask for the name of the male employee (we couldn’t see his name tag as it was hidden behind his hair), he started walking away, saying that they have cameras, the manager monitors everything, and the manager always sides with the staff. And the cherry on top: they blatantly told us, "If you don’t like it, leave." Well, we certainly will. But let me be clear: neither I, my spouse, nor anyone in our circle of friends or acquaintances will ever recommend this gym. I have never in my life encountered such disrespectful treatment, where you pay for a service, don’t even interact with the staff, and then get approached after your workout to be told how terrible you are and that you should just leave.

Expérience négative: This location has great potential to be an excellent gym, but unfortunately there's a lack of attention placed on cleanliness and maintenance of the place. - The bathrooms and shower stalls lack proper cleanliness and have mold issues behind shower stalls/ shower heads have never been cleaned. - Many pieces of equipment are always out of service for weeks/months. - The heating is excessively high throughout the year, making workouts uncomfortable. - While there are numerous machines (about 100 treadmills), the variety is limited, lacking options like hack squat machines, additional squat racks, machines for back, etc. - The Wi-Fi connection is unreliable and doesn't work, dont even bother trying to connect. - Lastly, EXTEND YOUR HOURS OVER THE WEEKENDS. Don't say youre 24hours 7, when youre not.

Expérience négative: On Saturday, February 15th, I encountered an extremely unpleasant situation. When I came to the gym with my girlfriend at 3:50 PM, we were met by an administrator who said, "We're closing in an hour today, so hurry up." Okay, fine. By 4:50 PM, they approached us three times, asking us to leave the premises. Okay, fine. In the locker room, exactly at 5:00 PM, the lights went out! Exactly at 5:00 PM! I understand that the gym operates until 5:00 PM, but could they at least let us change? I barely managed to find my phone and turn on the flashlight, while bumping into benches several times! When we left at 5:05 PM and I asked for the girl's name, she refused to give it and started yelling that we wouldn't be allowed back into the gym. This was the worst customer service experience of my life. The girl had curly hair with white streaks and a tanned complexion. Her shift was on February 15th, 2025. I really hope the managers pay attention to this issue. For now, thank goodness, there are plenty of other gym chains in the area.

Expérience positive: It's too busy between 4pm - 7pm ish, but it looks amazing. The studio downstairs is often quiet, so it's a good place to do workout videos. Lots of classes happening. Staff are generally friendly.

Expérience négative: Why oh why is the sign advertising 24/7 gym. The one I usually go to in Trinity Hills - 24/7 yes. This one was closed at 6pm on a Saturday. It's not really 24/7 if it's only on select days.

Expérience fantastique: The atmosphere of the gym itself is worth the visit. The gym is placed inside a renovated turn of the Century Bank of Montreal bank. Check out gold gilded decor, 3-4 storey pillared high ceilings and a bank vault downstairs Be sure to walk down (the stairs toward the change rooms and studio)and to your immediate right *** AND CHECK OUT THE BANKS ->>>original bank vault!!- It’s been turned !shhhh! (behind the vault’s 6 inch steel door ) into a members lounge area!!! Drop in’s for non- members $25

I was in the sauna and she was about to close the gym, she turned the lights off of the entire gym and the sauna turned off , I was shocked and couldn’t see anything. When I asked her she made some directed hurtful comments towards me. As a customer, I expected to be treated with basic decency, not subjected to insults. Expérience négative: Clean with great facilities and in an awesome heritage building but not for serious lifters and bodybuilders. Just by the amount of cardio machines there, I can tell it's designed for people who set up memberships and never show up.

Expérience fantastique: When I started with Kylie, one of the GoodLife Exercise Therapists I was in a world of pain from years of training with improper technique and form. Kylie was able to dive into almost all of my aches, over and under developed, tight and stretched muscles. After a few sessions with her I had significantly less discomfort with sciatic and shoulder injuries, improved posture and a list of corrective stretches. Kylie told me as long as I did the exercises and kept mindful of my form everything would improve. Annnnd she wasn’t wrong. Way less pain, way more mobility and way more knowledge. Even while I was training without Kylie, if she caught me lacking on form she’d come and correct it. She’s avid on following up with my improvement and is always be willing to provide new techniques as muscle and body conditions improve and change.

Expérience négative: It is a good gym overall. Another squat rack and hack press would be great imo. The gym however is very very busy especially around 3-5 to the point where you cant get lockers. Other clubs in the area would be a better choice if you are a after work workout type.

Expérience fantastique: Amazing gym in the downtown core that supplements and helps reduce traffic in other good life branches in the city. This gym is always tidy and clean. It does not open full 24 hrs over the weekend, and that seems to be the only downside, but again, it acts as a great supplement to the other existing branches in the city.

Expérience négative: The GoodLifes across Calgary seem to be lacking in a lot of areas, and especially the central locations. As aesthetic as this one is, it doesn't hit the accessibility, equipment, and layout that I've come to expect from GoodLife (as a longtime member of the central Edmonton locations - namely Brewery District and Commerce Place). It's disappointing to not find a GoodLife in Calgary that can meet the same standards, even one of their newer locations. It would be great to see the same level of investment for the Calgary locations.

Expérience positive: It's really a 5 star gym, having worked out anywhere that was so unique. Loved it. It lost 1 start because the sauna absolutely sucks. It's the worse, 20 mins there at the highest temperature and didn't break a sweat. Common, fix your sauna. And the towels are verrry flimsy. It's barely dry. It's not the cheapest gym in the city. Get some better towels. The vault was kinda cool tho

Expérience fantastique: I have been training at goodlife for 2 months, located at 8Ave Dowtown. I would like to congratulate Amanda for her great work, since the first day I arrived at the gym, she has always supported me with my doubts. I understand that if I'm at Good life it's because this employee is part of it. My first time, I had a lot of difficulty with English and she, together with Logan, gave me a great impression and experience. It's good to have employees like Amanda. In general I would like thank you for all employees that has patient with me, because I usually speak a lot to train my english :) I understand that our culture is different and I need learn about the culture Canadians person. Go train, Go Ahead.
Expérience négative: When I signed up for the training sessions I specifically asked the sales/instructor if the classes were free to cancel and he said yes you can cancel anytime for free. Two months afterwards I decided to not continue and they told me I had to pay 20% penalty fee which was $1200. I reasoned that the sales told me it was free to cancel they replied ‘you should’ve read the contract before you sign’, so I ended up paying the penalty fee.

Expérience négative: This gym is cool but, stop forcing people to get a trainer… my friend literally had to explain things to questions that goodlife shouldn’t even ask, if someone says they dont want the trainer program you guys offer, stop pushing it… also had trouble with my bank account because goodlife took out money and put it back (why put it back anyways) which caused me to pay $90 to the bank… wished they informed me first that they’re gonna take out that amount before they did.

I found out that they allow their *MALE* cleanners that they employee through a third party, go into the woman's locker room, while women are using that locker room. There was misunderstanding of payments caused from their side. I was trying to be thorough in order for my bank account on file to not be charged (as it is my friends and he is doing me a favour to use it while visiting from abroad - this would be an inconvenience for him as well as not being fair to him) It would have been ok if she simply addressed her concern with me but no, she made an assumption about me and replied back in an aggressive manner which I believe to be quite petty.

As the aesthetic of this gym is great but the management dont value their members. This the worst gym I have in my life. I will never go back again.

Expérience positive: Staff is friendly. Gym is always clean . I like it on the weekends in the morning (8am) because it’s not too busy. I live close enough to walk. Three things I wish were better though: - there is no reasonably accessible parking (for those very cold days) -there are only washrooms on the basement level - two floors down from the squat racks and free weights - I don’t like the “hoist” equipment at all - it’s odd in that it moves your entire body - plate loaded equipment or even the usual lifefitness machines would be an improvement. Otherwise, I can get a good workout in , in a chill environment and I plan my workouts accordingly. If I plan on using machines, I go to other GL locations.

Her customer service surpassed my expectations and I'm thankful for her call. _____________________________________ REPLY TO THE OWNER: if you truly want to find a solution to this, find my membership in your data base with my name and last name as shown here and contact me directly. ______________________________________ I decided to post a review merely due to an unpleasant incident last night and I will proceed with an honest review of this specific location. Location wise is absolutely central, convenient and very clean gym, I moved from WG +15 and it's definitely an upgrade, really love the heritage look and style, other members are friendly and focus on their workouts, but this specific location has way too many cardio machines, people are constantly lining up for the squat racks, barbell benches and other non cardio equipment, the staff in general are very knowledgeable and ready to help the members but they lack a little touch of humanity, the incident was that my mother needed a washroom urgently and we were rushing to find one (after 7 - 8 pm there are no places to use around the area), so I thought to go to my Home Club (this location) who was a few steps away, and I proceed to politely ask the clerks for help (who btw know me, have seen my face constantly, and I was even having my gym tag on my hand), I begged politely if they would let me scan and let my mom use the toilets for a quick pee, that she needed it urgently, they refused twice even after begging them and stating that she could not hold it anymore, after they refuse access I left incredibly disappointed and very upset; the lack of compassion over the "only members bs" it's beyond me, I was not stranger in the first place and this was an emergency. I hope this review help the management to help their staff to discern better when a situation requires and absolute refusal and when one can actually make an exception, as someone who has worked in customer service for more than 10 years, I know this is possible, and it's not like we looked like addicts or trouble people, and I truly wish this experience will never happen to their love ones specially if they have a medical condition that requires an urgent service like this.

Expérience négative: Miserable staff, they always seem annoyed by anyone that walks in, no hello or goodbye like other employees in other locations. Prob the worst GoodLife in Calgary staff wise. Building is nice and historic, more cardio equipment than free weights but the place is well set up.

Definitely smaller than the other branches and not always open 24/7, It would be 24/4 as was explained by the staffs there. I suggest be mindful of their hours :) To those leaving reviews about the homeless roaming around outside the gym, it is downtown, that is given, don't even start complaining. If anything they are the ones that are present 24/7

Expérience fantastique: Kind, respectful, professional staff; I have been attending body pump classes, which are always fun (Vanessa Is my favourite instructor. She’s just too fun). It's the first time, and It’s been years since I have been a member; I’m sticking to a fitness center. I'm not bothered by staff being pushy and trying to sell others products or ask me out. The last experience I had at a center was horrible. Close by, the trainer's abuse was cruel and did not last longer than three weeks.

There's enough to get a decent workout in if you're downtown, but there's better equipped Goodlifes throughout the city. I go to this one only out of convenience.

Expérience fantastique: Hands down the most gorgeous gym I've seen. We came here to workout just because of the reputation and it was definitely worthy. We wanted to get a day pass as we were on vacation and this wasn't the closest gym to our hotel. The staff were super nice and helpful. When the computer malfunctioned and wouldn't allow the charge to go through, the manager allowed us to use the facility for free. The equipment were new and in great working condition. The interior of the building was just like movies and I'm glad they preserved it.

Went there workday mornings and with the huge amount of equipment, there was never any wait time. The layout takes a bit to get used to but, hey, that’s also what makes the gym so unique. Expérience négative: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME WITH GOOD LIFE OR THIS GARBAGE LOCATION & SLEAZY TRAINER, MIKE. During covid I was Swindled into a gym training membership by some guy named Mike, told me at the time my training would only be for a mere few sessions, however that was not the case. It was a years worth of Level 4 or whatever at 500.00 bi-weekly. During Covid, Goodlife would send out emails notifying customers that their membership would be frozen till such & such date. However, that was no the case what so ever as they would unfreeze it during certain times take the 500.00 delegated for gym training however gyms were closed and supposedly my trainer would set up online sessions, not ONCE did he contact me. Not once. After months of realizing now that I had probably about 20 sessions of training, I called the gym to notify them I was moving back to BC, where at their locations it was MANDATORY to be vaccinated. Goodlife customer service didn’t really have a option for me, and choose to continue charging my credit card without any options. I decided to close my account and pay the full 2500.00 Cancellation fee, even though I STILL had about 20 sessions left but I decided to forfeit this as this gym has the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IVE EVER DEALT WITH IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. So I made the call and cancelled everything to do with this gym… or so I thought. Two weeks ago I received a email, a email ( not even a phone call to notify me that I have another payment due, I shrugged it off thinking it was a mistake, however just this past Friday I received another email stating I owe double The money. I’ve gone back into my history of emails during covid & received countless emails restating that my account was frozen, however after just reviewing my bank account noticed that GOODLIFE had no issues double dipping into my bank account while sending emails notifying me my account was “ frozen.” This is by far the WORST GYM, I would never recommend anyone to come here. There are plethora of awesome independent personal trainers in Calgary, those who won’t rip you off especially during a pandemic. - disappointed with this Gym. Horrible customer service, and would not recommend MIKE to anyone. If ANYONE is looking for a personal trainer, I would recommend IG : UGBfitness on IG, I believe he used to work for GL, before quitting & going independent. I’ve worked out with him a handful of times & what I can tell you is he’s very professional & you don’t feel ripped off when leaving a workout.

Won't speak to me when I come in person, won't take my calls when I call in. Payments have come out of my account since trying to quit and I keep getting ignored. This is a really poor way to run a business. I do not recommend choosing this fitness facility.
