Expérience fantastique: Awesome gym! Plenty of equipment and never really over crowded. Even during peak time you’ll be able to get a good workout in. Matt (the manager) is an awesome guy, aswell as all the staff. World Gym also offers daycare service if you have young children. The gym is clean and most patrons are respectful. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the switch.

Expérience positive: This is a really great gym. If you’re not interested in a pool or classes, this gym is just as good, if not better, than goodlife, especially for the price. It’s never insanely busy, it’s clean, staff is extremely friendly and helpful, equipment is in good condition, and squat racks are amazing. Would definitely recommend. Would give it 5 stars if it was 24 hours, had more windows, and the weights were kept a little more organized. thanks for a great membership!!

Expérience fantastique: This is the best gym hands down in the st.kits area. I’m from brock and had to use an outside gym because of how crowded the gym would get. The machines at worlds are top tier, and the dynamic machines that move with you offer a great pump. To put the icing on the cake I brought my friend who’s in a wheelchair to get a lift in and it was super accessible for him to navigate around the machines. If I wasn’t moving back home after my undergrad I would get a full membership here.

Expérience négative: Good gym, lots of equipment, fair prices. Just didn’t use it anymore so I went through proper procedures to cancel and had no issues. Payments stopped when they were supposed to. I’ll go back if I decide not to be fat anymore. Update 2025: decent-ish gym, cheap so you get the lowest of the low, lots of equipment. Kinda clean I guess.... I went back for another membership after the first review and wanted to cancel again in person. It can only be done by the manager from the hours of 9a-5p. Kinda bullship if you ask me coz I'm a normal person I work during those hours. I think they make it difficult so you hopefully forget or they get an extra payment out of you. Curious why the keychain babysitters behind the desk actually do all night other than just watch people swipe in?? Kinda useless if you ask me. Goodlife on Bunting is much better, more expensive but you don't get the riff raff and rough looking crowds so it's worth it. You get what you pay for I guess. Also Goodlife doesn't have ridiculous rules for when you can get help to cancel, pause, or upgrade your membership. I'm going back there instead. Plus Goodlife has a nice pool!!!

Expérience fantastique: Best gym ever. No nonsense - cheap prices - great community. Everyone that goes to this gym is, generally speaking, a veteran bodybuilder which means proper gym etiquette is followed in 99% of cases. Plenty of machines for all exercises which prevents downtime significantly and allows for creativity. All of my experiences with the staff have been extremely pleasant. Shout out to my guy who wears the red aviators All 1 star reviews where people are mentioning price scamming or hidden fees are instances of people who quite literally did not read the print when signing up. There is a sign-up fee that is paid yearly and a cancellation fee when you do cancel but at $17 bi-weekly you will save much more than going to a GoodLife or an LA Fitness etc.

Expérience négative: People, be CAUTIOUS with this place – World Gym. The customer service is terrible, and they charged me extra fees when I canceled my membership. When I questioned the extra charge, Matt, the manager, told me I should have read the contract. They took $12.42 + 25.00 from me to cancel the subscription. In short, the management lies about the charges, and the employees are arrogant. If any customer wants to deal with this kind of arrogant behavior from World Gym, you're welcome to join and experience the frustration of their customer service. I would NEVER RECOMMEND THIS GYM TO ANYONE!!!!!

Expérience positive: Great gym! Only one ongoing issue with a few members not respecting the rules and them seemingly not being enforced.‍♂️. Main issues are meat heads that should know better…throwing free weights to the ground with them bouncing and rolling towards others and typically the same people running around to different weights and machines not wiping down anything and spreading germs everywhere. Frustrating and dangerous.

Social media like Facebook and Instagram where also used. It’s the fastest way to let everyone know. The highway department shut off our water for 5 hours without notification. We are very sorry for this inconvenience. We were not aware or we would have posted it ahead of time. Thank you

Wasn’t aware I have been paying for almost 3 years manager was very rude didn’t seem to care at all basically said it’s not my problem and wouldn’t even waver the renewal fee which happened yesterday … never felt so disrespected I hate this gym and there scam policy .. reading more about this gym how it’s happened to so many others … I hope you go bankrupt

Expérience négative: I've been to this gym, on and off, for over 6 years. The woman's side needs some serious updating. 2/3 of their floor is cardio machines (when only 5/30 are used at a time), and the rest of the woman are waiting on one cable machine(where the pull down rope is always missing), all the glutes/ leg machines, and 4 arm machines. Over in the separated area, is the "woman's free weights" section; 2 racks, 2 benches, and enough room for 1 matt. Between those 2 racks, there are enough free weights to cover 3/8 shelves. The max of those weights, 25 lbs. If you're a woman, looking for a gym, and a space, I wouldn't suggest here. Sometimes you don't want to be in the bigger gym, with the men. And the space given to women, is atrocious. At this point, I only go there for the hydro beds and sauna.

Expérience négative: I am very disappointed with staff working there especially cleaning staff. They barricade the showers everyday at 9:50pm with mops and broomsticks and add stickers "out of order due to pipes issues". Is management aware of this situation???. If you guys just don't wanna work after 9 why don't you just close at 9pm? At least we'd know before paying an arm and leg for VIP memberships? WG st. CATHARINES management, you should think about hiring new staff!!! I'm canceling 3 memberships !!!

Expérience négative: The customer service is very bad, and they charged me extra fees. When I asked them, they told me that I should have read the contract, and they took $125 from me in order to stop the subscription. When I told them that no one told me about these conditions when I subscribed for the first time, their response was that you should have escaped the contract. In short, the management is cheaters and arrogant employees.

Expérience négative: If I could give ZERO stars I would. My “cancelled” membership of over 6 years ago has somehow started up again and they’ve been taking auto payments randomly. Differing amounts and infrequent months. And…. They have my key fob from when I first cancelled but somehow it shows I used it to sign in only a few years ago. After speaking with Matt the manager who assured me over the phone that he cancelled it again, I am getting phone calls stating my payments are being declined (because I had a funny feeling I should put a stop payment through bank). DONT TRUST THIS PLACE IF YOU'RE LOOKING TO SET UP A MEMBERSHIP! Pay cash only. Or better yet, find a more trustworthy gym.

Expérience positive: Love this gym, it has an old school feel with mostly new equipment. Even the old equipment is kept in good shape though. The only major downside that has recently come up is the new lighting, it's so damn bright and white, it used to be a nicer soft white in there. Great gym! Great staff! Hate the new lighting!

Expérience fantastique: Been coming here for a bit over a year. Excellent gym. Very good and upbeat staff. Any broken machines get fixed immediately. Lots of space and variety for workouts. They now have 7 squat racks and 7 spots to do deadlifts which is also awesome. My ONLY downside is that they are no longer 24h, otherwise excellent gym. This is straight up the best gym I've gone to.

Expérience positive: Works for exactly what I need- a good workout, decent equipment that is always available and friendly staff. My BIGGEST issue is cleanliness ( or lack of), especially in the women's change-room. I have brought this to the manager's attention in the past. Please hire cleaning staff as this may become a make it or break it deal for me ( and others' as noted in past reviews).

Expérience négative: Extremely poor customer service. I had gone to this gym, and after pandemic I stopped going, got an new credit card and was charged additional late fees. Manager refused to drop late charges and showed no interest is keeping me as a customer.

Expérience négative: Cancellation policy is a joke. I was told I can mail a physical letter of cancellation or come talk to a manager on a weekday 9-5. So now I have to take some time off at my work because that’s my exact work hours. Or go to post office and send a letter? Just so I can cancel a gym membership.

Expérience négative: Truely terrible business practice. I wasn't charged for multiple months through the pandemic, then all of a sudden, they charged me for 8 months of of payments in one month, and then charged me a massive nsf fee when their process didn't go through (because I was not prepared for that charge at the time). After calling they said there was nothing they could do on their end. I ended up biting the bullet and paying the charge. I ended up going in a few days after and canceled my membership (beginning of 2020). Fast forward to a couple weeks ago, they sent me a bill for $457, which it seems I am going to have to pay or else they are sending it to the credit bureau. Judging by the rest of the reviews here, I can see this is not an isolated incident. Highly recommend any other gym than this gym.

They have a very bad cancellation policy, I was pregnant and wanted to have a break for few months but they didn’t put my membership on hold and kept charging me. My husband got a huge bill even through he cancelled through their policy by sending them a letter. They make it impossible to cancel the membership. We are not ever going back there. They don’t deserve even one star

Expérience négative: Terribly managed gym with very sketchy business practices. I was a member for some time, and cancelled my membership in person amidst the pandemic in November 2020. Randomly in July 2021 my payments to the gym started up again and I was charged month after month for a membership I cancelled. No notice or reason was given why. When I contacted the gym about this issue, no reasoning could be given and they claimed to have no record of my cancellation. Now that I am out of province, they say I must cancel in person only or provide a written letter requesting cancellation of membership (no email or over the phone permitted). As for the gym itself, it was often overcrowded. The change rooms were usually dirty, and most employees lacked interpersonal skills.

Expérience négative: Not happy I have to cancel my membership between 9-5 or mail a letter. I should be able to hand off a handwritten notice of 30-day cancellation to any employee working at world's gym while I am there. At no point should I have to rearrange my schedule to accommodate handing off the very same letter to a manager. It's almost as if management doesn't trust their staff working there to be able to process these things appropriately.

Expérience négative: Decent Gym and everything but you are going to be having issues when you try to close your membership. They make it so difficult that it feels like they are intentionally doing it so that you cannot cancel your membership. Employee Bayn even told me as such as he was refusing to cancel my membership. It seems to be a management decision but to save yourself a headache, I would recommend going elsewhere.

Expérience négative: Unless you are planning on going to this gym for the rest of your life into the afterlife do not get a member ship. I’ve called and told them I’m no longer in the province and want to cancel my membership every time I was greeted with and apology and promises to fix it. 2 years later I have received an email from a credit collector saying I how 546 dollars. Management is rude unhelpful and quite unintelligent. If you want to get maximum gains I’d go legitimately anywhere else a kids play ground has better equipment.

Expérience positive: I have been going there since it first opened. I am over 50 and work out 4 to 5 times a week. I go between 6am and 9am. It is never crowded. The regulars are friendly. Going between 4 pm and 7pm is very busy and I don't bother unless i just want to do cardio. For the price I pay I can't complain except when someone uses a machine in a way that it was not intended. That drives me crazy as some machines then don't work properly. Staff should monitor and prevent that. Rebecca is a manager there she is always so nice and helpful.

Expérience fantastique: This place is awesome, most times I go I can get right into whatever I need to do. Staff is always friendly, smiling, welcomes and says goodbye and is always willing to help. The facilities are clean and equipment is in good shape. Love this gym!

Expérience fantastique: I have had the pleasure of being trained here by Stephen and assisted with things by Matt, both of these gentlemen have made my 2 years at this gym great. I highly recommend this gym for these 2 people alone.

Expérience négative: Heard a lot of terrible things when I went to cancel my membership.. they took my yearly payment from my account then two days later charged another 25$… employees are extremely rude when you do try to cancel. Super happy that I did cancel it because I’ve found a gym that’s pretty straight forward, has better machines and friendlier staff.

Expérience négative: No longer offering mask exemptions is a violation under Section 7.0.2 of the Reopening Ontario Act.

World Gym International

The mask are to be worn into the building and when your not exercising and moving around the gym. While you are working out you are free to remove the mask so you can breathe properly. Because the ability to remove the mask as soon as you start working out we were able to insist that every member walk in and out of the gym with a mask. Last time we closed for covid 50 percent of the gym told us they had exemptions and they really didn’t. This time those same people are now wearing mask as they walk in and out of the gym and removing them as they workout. We were advised by the health department that we are doing the right thing. Code enforcers also said that we were doing the right thing. The removal of the mask once you reach a machine is what makes it easier for all. Please contact the general manager to see what arrangements we can make to assist you. We would be glad to assist you further and earn our three extra stars! Thank you for writing to us.

Expérience négative: Tried to cancel my mom's membership over the phone, won't let you cancel your membership without coming in person or sending a written letter. Seems like a policy change that would be appropriate during COVID. God bless your staff, now you're going to have to deal with the wrath of my mom in person.

Rob Thank you for your review. The cancellation policy is set up so once it is completed correctly there is little to no chance for error. The policy is a written cancellation at the gym or a cancellation letter sent to the gym. Once it is in writing it goes through our 4 step process of making sure the cancellation is completed, scanned, documented, and filed. A receipt of completion is given once done correctly. Expérience négative: 95% Cardio equipment. So the massive gym is compact to one tiny corner where there are only two adjustable benches infront of the mirrors. Lose half your cardio equipment, put up another wall of mirrors and add more lifting/cable equipment. 170 person capacity limit and only one tiny area where people actually workout. Manager needs to make some changes. This gym is a nightmare

Expérience négative: Tried to cancel my membership on phone in July. I was told that my membership was cancelled but i was charges from august to December. I tried to explain them the situation. I changed the province in July after having the cancellation. Now they say you have to come in person or send a mail to the gym. I talked to one of the employers in the gym and she said i can send someone on my behalf to cancel the membership. My friend went there and they said i have to be there in person.These guys are justed wasting my time. I mean, it has been a lockdown in Ontario again and again. If there is a policy that during lockdown we are not going to get charged then why you are charging me money. I did email to the manager and she didn’t answer me for 3 days. Rishabh thank you for your email. Just to clarify no members were charged monthly dues during the 7 months the gym was closed because of Covid. It is important that you also know that the Gym doesn't except phone calls or emails as a way to cancel. Acceptable ways to cancel are in fact the ways you were told, either go to gym and fill out proper forms or mail in letter and it will get processed. If you need further assistance with your membership please contact the Area General Manager Rebecca and she will be glad to assist you further. Thank you

Expérience négative: Called to suspend membership again on March 3 2021 and was told not to worry as World Gym would honor my request boy Was I wrong .They charged me and refused to give my money back and would only credit it to my membership when I went back or towards my cancelation fees of two months.They said I could not prove I had called them to suspend my membership even though I had done so several times previously? Expérience négative: I wanna cancel the membership of this gym and I called them in January and they canceled but still they are charging when I look on my credit card history they charged over $290 and I didn’t went there even one day when I canceled service and now I’m trying to call manager and then staff they are seems unresponsive towards customer service. No words for them.

Harman, Sorry you are having issues cancelling membership. We give everyone the same two options. You can go to the gym and work with the management team to fill out the proper cancellation form and membership is terminated on the spot ....OR... you can mail a letter into the gym to cancel your membership. Letters are received , processed, and filed with members info. Anything other than the two options will always end with the membership not being cancelled. It is very important you follow the cancellation process as it is explained on your membership agreement. Glad to assist you and thank you for your email.

Expérience fantastique: I love world gym @ st catharines. Staff are respectful ,Responsible and I believe this gym is best in niagara region. When I go to workout at my set time I see same group of people working out so this mean that people are consistent and like to come to gym. The atmosphere is so vibrant ,staff are fit and great in shape . Equipment are clean and always available . My ask is please include more equipment for legs .Manish Parmar

Expérience fantastique: Today I went into World Gym St Catharines (around 6pm). The quality of this gym is hard to beat! The staff are all extremely helpful. I feel a lot safer here knowing that they are enforcing lots of safety precautions due to Covid. The ladies behind the front desk were doing a great job! Keep up the good work WG!

Expérience négative: Terrible service, I haven't even entered the gym yet, I called over a dozen times, not one answer. The Website is un informing of anything whether they are open or not, when will they open etc etc

Expérience négative: Advertised as 24 hour gym. It is only 24 hours during the week. Not on weekends. This makes it hard for those who work till 6:30pm. Therefore, this is false advertising as a 24 hour gym is expected to be open 24 hours a day everyday.

Expérience négative: I signed up 2 years ago and went Once then unfortunately due to a death in my family I had to move away. I called in to have them cancel my membership over a year ago and found out they are still charging me to this day!! I emailed them and they said unfortunately I have to be there in person to cancel knowing that I can’t do that!! Do not sign with this gym!!!!

Expérience négative: Half the patrons in the gym when I went for the last time were not wearing masks. Also, they did not wave the 2 month cancelation fee despite the pandemic.

Casey Thank you for your feedback. The Staff has enforced the mask policies with more efforts. They have managed to get all the members to wear mask as they move around the gym. While exercising they are able to remove their mask for short periods. We have had some people say they are exempt from the mask policy because of health issues. The staff is working hard to improve the gym to make it more safe for the members. Thank you

Expérience négative: Nice gym overall but their monthly deduction always takes out more than it should every other month because they made the mistake by not taking it out on time. So I get deducted $40+ But it’s suppose to be $20(with tanning).

Expérience négative: You get what you pay for: The place is busy, the equipment is "tired looking" worn or wearing out, pieces are missing or equipment is compromised to appease certain members. Ants in the guys changeroom and only one properly functioning faucet (for months)...but the staff is nice.

Expérience négative: Gym is always packed, no customer service and only offers to new VIP members but nothing for existing members. Called to cancel my membership this morning, came in and was told only a manager had the authority to do so. BUT I can write a letter to come in and cancel my membership and mail it?? Not worth your time; pay more for a membership that provides actual service and cleanliness in a gym.

Expérience fantastique: Good gym at a good price! Only complaint is that they close early on the weekends and that it can get pretty crowded there. It would be awesome if they offered free wifi also!

Expérience fantastique: The Ontario st. Location in St. Catharines is great! The staff always say hello and good bye, are very friendly and polite! The equipment is clean and diverse and the membership is very flexible! Great experience overall!

Expérience fantastique: Best deal in town , nice clean gym I only go every morning so not busy . The staff are excellent and they’re a lot of different machines . Great location and lots of parking not a better value in the area.
