She is enthusiastic, creates training plans that fit my needs, and patiently guides me through every exercise. She motivates me to keep going and helps me improve step by step. Expérience négative: I mean they charge like 80 a month but they dont even have a digital clock. So i cant know my rest period in between sets i have to check my phone every 90 seconds.There are analog clocks but u cant see the any hand on them cause they are like 25 feet away from the most used areas. Nobody even notice them. 14 screens in a row and not even single one has a time on it. What they have is stupid quotes and advertisements. If they could they would put ads on our forehead. Bro just put a big clock so people can see the time. And Goodluck tracking ur progressive overloading because they have weights not by increments of 10 but 15 And they are not even consistent on all the machines.

I was quite surprised and honestly disappointed at how high the price was for a single visit. As a student, this feels especially expensive and difficult to justify, particularly when many other gyms and fitness centers offer more affordable day pass options. It makes it hard for someone like me, who may only want to drop in occasionally, to have access to your facilities. Expérience négative: I’ve been going to GoodLife for 2 years now, and honestly, the experience keeps getting worse. The gym is always overcrowded—there’s barely any space to work out properly, and it takes forever to get access to basic equipment. Peak hours are a nightmare, and even during off-hours it’s still packed. What’s frustrating is that some areas, like the cycling section and the new massage machines, are always empty and barely used, while the main workout areas are overwhelmed. It’s clear that space isn’t being used effectively. This location desperately needs an expansion or a second gym nearby. At this point, it feels like GoodLife cares more about signing up new members than providing a quality experience for the ones they already have.

I’ve been a member of GoodLife Fitness for a while now, and I’ve consistently been impressed with the quality of service, but I have to give a special shoutout to Tranique, one of the club attendants. She goes above and beyond to make sure the gym is not only spotless but that everyone feels welcomed and taken care of. Expérience positive: The men’s dry sauna at GoodLife Charlottetown has been struggling to maintain proper heat levels for quite some time. Unlike other GoodLife locations that reliably reach 90°C, this unit often falls short, leading members to pour water on the rocks to create steam — which may feel hot, but doesn’t provide the steady dry heat expected from a proper sauna. One possible factor could be the temperature sensor, which is currently mounted directly above the heater. This placement may cause the unit to register heat prematurely and shut off too early. In many sauna setups, sensors are installed higher on a side wall — not directly above the heat source — to provide a more accurate reading of room temperature. Many members have noticed this and commented on the sauna’s performance, hoping it will be addressed in the near future. A consistent, high-heat dry sauna is an important part of recovery and wellness for many gym-goers, and it would be great to see this facility restored to the same standard seen in other GoodLife locations.

Expérience positive: The men’s dry sauna at GoodLife Charlottetown has had long-standing heating issues. It doesn’t reach the typical 90°C you’d expect from a GoodLife facility. Members often try to pour water on the rocks to make it feel hotter, but this only creates steam — not proper dry heat. The problem likely comes from a temperature sensor mounted directly above the heater. This setup causes false readings, shutting the heat off too soon. Until it’s properly repaired, the sauna continues to underperform and offers little benefit. This has been known since 2023 and still hasn’t been fixed.

Expérience négative: ***DO NOT DO PERSONAL TRAINING HERE!!! *** I signed up for a one time training session in addition to the free intro session included in enrollment. 2 sessions total for my two day per week program. I wanted to feel more comfortable using the free weights and have a trainer go through my program, checking my form. In the free intro session, the personal trainer I was put with, Elena, was very upbeat and bubby, but completely disregarded the program built for me by my physiotherapist and kinesiologist, saying it wasn't good for me. She didnt listen to my goals at all and pushed cardio on me. She told me that it would take me TWO YEARS to get to the point where I could use free weights and tried to sell me her overpriced program instead. That's absolutely just not right. Even newbies can use free weights and I'm not starting from zero activity. I figured nbd, it's a free intro session so I'll just cancel my paid one and find a trainer through my kinesiologist, someone who would actually listen to my goals. Initially, I was told yes, that's fine, they'd refund me and I'd see the money in 3 days. I waited, but nothing showed up. I asked the next week and they said they'd check around and call me. Nothing, no call. I asked next week and I was told that it had been too long now and they couldn't refund me and I could call head office. I called and was told to ask back at the gym. Then I talked to the fitness manager, Brinto. He said that *maybe* he could give me half a month off because it's been too long. Then I never heard a definitive answer from him. When I asked for him at the gym, the front desk said they'd get him to call me. And guess what? Nothing. They have screwed me around giving half answers and outright lying, sending me in circles for a month!! It's been a total waste of my time. I still haven't received the refund they initially promised!! I do not want to chase people around looking for a straight answer on something that should have been easily solved that day! I wasn't even going to complain about the trainer. But now they have my money AND I haven't received the service!!!! DO NOT DO PERSONAL TRAINING HERE!! You'll be better of going to a Physio, a kinesiologist or even just using YouTube/online programs. Really.

The gym is alright the pricing is a little high around 1000$ a year after tax and they make it really hard to leave I was told by the staff that I can cancel anytime with no penalty or commitment and then when I tried to leave they just said I signed an agreement with a cancellation notice. I never got told or got to read as I did in person they just made get a picture and gave me a keychain with a barcode.

Expérience fantastique: I joined GoodLife Gym a couple of months ago because I felt like I’d put on a bit more than just “winter fluff” recently. Let’s just say my clothes were starting to make comments I didn’t ask for. A few months in, I’m happy to say I’m making great progress toward my goal, and I’m feeling better every step (or squat) of the way! Big shoutout to my personal trainer, Arman, who’s basically a wizard in gym clothes. This guy knows how to push you without making you hate him (too much). He’s the perfect mix of cheerleader, coach, and the friend who just won’t let you skip leg day. He took the time to understand my goals and quirks (including my love of carbs and dislike of early mornings), and tailored my workouts to get results without making me dread the gym. Somehow, he got me excited about working out. He even convinced me to try Zumba, and now I’m obsessed. The gym? It is spacious and has great equipment, an awesome vibe, and class options to keep things fresh. If you’re looking for a welcoming, motivating gym with trainers who’ll help you see results, GoodLife is definitely a great option!

Expérience négative: ***AVOID THIS GYM*** My daughter isn't usually interested in sport/fitness so it was great to hear her express interest in getting a gym membership. We picked a membership, and I paid for a personal training session to introduce her to the equipment and make a beginner program for her to start out. I found out later that intro sessions are free for new members, but the person doing the sign-up (the general manager!) didn't bother to mention that. During the personal training session, the personal trainer convinced my daughter that to meet her goals, she would need $900/month in personal training sessions. She's 15, and now thinks that she can't meet her goals without $900/month in personal training sessions. Her enthusiasm about the gym is mostly gone. During the session - again - where she was supposed be receiving a beginner program for independent workouts - I received text messages from her telling me that I "had" to go to the gym, because the "they needed to talk to me". She doesn't normally text like that. It was really unusual. I know goodlife has aggressive sales tactics, but I didn't think they would stoop to convincing 15 year olds that they need $900/month in personal training services to meet their goals. There's much more to this story. Initially the general manager appeared willing to try to fix the situation, but that's not the case. There are lots of great places to workout around Charlottetown. I don't think this is one of them. Update: It's been over month, and nothing has been refunded. I asked, and they apologized and agreed to refund the personal training session. They haven't. I called a few times, and had to go in to talk to them again in person. They again said they would, and again still haven't. They also said that for a refund for the first month and the sign up fee, I would have to go through "corporate". They said they could put the request in, but it would be faster if I made the request. I asked them to put the request in. It's been over month, and that hasn't been refunded either. 2nd Update: Almost 3 months later. They've refunded 16% of what I paid, so I called the number they posted bellow and spoke with corporate, who told me they can't help, and I need to speak with the general manager. I've already talked to them 4 times. I called them again, and got a call back from the district manager. They were condescending. John was focused on the fact that my daughter "used" the "service". I tried to explain the "service" was the opposite of a service - it was a damage - it was a personal trainer convincing her that she needed $900/month in personal training services to meet her fitness goals, and by doing that convincing her that fitness/exercise wasn't for her, and then by doing that, she didn't go back to the gym after that, hasn't gone back to the gym after that, and still doesn't want to get a gym membership. He wasn't at all concerned. I don't expect I'll be receiving a refund. Again - ***AVOID THID GYM***

Expérience négative: Before COVID, I signed up for a personal trainer. During the pandemic, I didn't feel comfortable being around others, especially in a gym where everyone was wearing masks. I initially requested to put my membership on hold, which was granted. However, as restrictions eased and despite people still wearing masks at the gym, I was later informed that I could no longer keep my membership on hold. I was told that, regardless of whether I used my membership, I owed $1,700 as per my contract. I reluctantly paid the fee to avoid any impact on my credit rating. I decided to appeal to the head office in Ontario, which took considerable effort to locate as their contact details seemed intentionally hard to find. I requested at least a credit for the unused membership fees and stated that I was willing to return to the gym. My request was denied twice via email. It seems they didn’t even want to respond with a formal letter. Based on this experience, I would be cautious about hiring a trainer at GoodLife Fitness. Their approach to client relations felt unethical, particularly in how they handle contract details. They may have my $1,700, but they’ve likely lost several clients through word-of-mouth because of how they treat their members.
Hey Michael, we appreciate the time you've taken to write a review and regret that you've been left disappointed by GoodLife. Personal Training contracts do have a time obligation which can be ended early with a buy-out fee. This is detailed in the agreement that is signed at the start of the binding period, and we do allow a 10-day period in which the agreement can be ended at no cost should any of the terms be unacceptable on further review by the member. We never want our members to feel that we are unethical or that we do not care; we just cannot make exceptions for some members and not for others to maintain Equity and Fairness in our decision-making. We wish you the very best.
Expérience négative: Extremely disappointed by the experience I just had at this gym. I think the person working was named Greg. I have a monthly memberhsip and I brought my boyfriend in to try the 3 day trial, which is what the people at the gym suggested I do. The second we walked in Greg made us feel like an inconvenience. We were told that my boyfriend wasn't in the system (which isn't our fault). The general tone that Greg used was demeaning. He kept interrupting us as we were speaking. By the time he gave my boyfriend the form to fill in, we both decided we'd rather leave than workout here. I've spent a lot of money at this gym over the summer and I regret every dollar. The customer service is beyond rude and I wish I could get my money back for this last month!!!!! I'm not asking for anything more than basic respect. It's not about the services offered but how you treat your customers. We just came away from the experience feeling very disrespected. It felt more like talking to an angry school principal, rather than an adult engaging in a customer service experience. Really hope Greg doesn't treat other people like this anymore.

Expérience positive: One of the water fountains has been broken for some time with no progress to repair. One of the men’s showers has been broken for over a month and has no hot water , water dispenser not function properly. Disappointing when looking for a shower on premium membership before work and only cold water? The change rooms and showers are a service that is important for my membership.Not expected at a newer facility. Update fountain has been repaired but shower remains broken..crazy amount of time to fix a shower..::

Expérience négative: Gym is very clean but management is so so so rude. The girl Sarah I think her name is that’s worked there since it opened and I first got my membership has always caused me problems. They try to take payments out earlier then they are supposed to all the time giving you nsf fees from your bank as well as their end if you don’t have the funds. They go and cancel your account and make up excuses and then insist you pay the nsf fees and the missed payment to restart your membership again and be charged the newly increased price of “only $1.99 more” but that’s before tax so you are looking at an 8 dollar difference biweekly and if you have to pay the amount owed plus the nsf fees to keep your account running how does that make any sense at all on why they would have to charge you a whole new price. They won’t work anything out for you but have waved it for other people I know closely that also go there. Then won’t give you the number to call above her to try and resolve something. Just money grabbers unfortunately and don’t care about your fitness. But it is a clean gym with lots of equipment…

Expérience positive: The gym itself is big and has a good amount of equipment. Great deadlifting, powerlifting area. But alot of ppl and can be struggling to find the machines for the days workout. Really like the area to do sled push/pulls but alot of ppl will see what you are doing and then set up right in your way. The biggest downs are there is not enough urinals/cubicles in the men toilets. They only urinal is broke half the time. There is a water fountain that has been broken over a year now. Anything that get broken takes forever to get fixed. The staff are very nice overall.

Expérience négative: GoodLife is pretty much the only game in town and they know it. The gym is filthy and there is always something broken. There is no urgency to fix anything. The bathrooms are horrific a good portion of the time. His is not worth the 85 a month they are charging, not by a long shot. Do better.

Expérience positive: Weekend staff are the best! One recommendation is to have it open 24 hours 7 days a week. Very hard to stick to a 530 am schedule when the hours are not consistent. The growth on the island makes for a growing gym population who require better accommodations with work schedules.

Expérience positive: Facility is pretty nice, though some of the equipment (e.g., treadmills) are a bit out-dated. Biggest disappointment was other members using their phones in locker room and sauna. I'm visiting from abroad and all in all would recommend as a good place to keep up with fitness while on holiday.

Expérience négative: The club is supposed to be open at 5:00 am on Mondays. It is 5:45 am on November 28, 3022 and no staff have showed up the open the club. I have spent 45 minutes waiting in the parking lot and there is no way to get a hold of club staff. I’m very disappointed.

Expérience positive: I had signed up for goodlife online and went in to get my key fob and the bag shortly after. I came in and said hi to the man working at the front desk and he just stared at me blankly with no reply. I told him I wanted to get my key fob and finish getting set up. He gave me my key fob and my bag then took my picture and told me I was set. I asked him where the changerooms were and he pointed and said "down there and to the left" I looked online later and saw that I was supposed to get a tour of the gym. I was pretty disapointed with the 1st experience I had there.

Expérience négative: Compared island gyms and decided not to go with GoodLife in the end. They reduce hours and close for holidays. This is not normal for a gym, especially a GoodLife, even on PEI. I verified this.

Expérience positive: Okay gym that covers the basics. However I do have a few complaints. Firstly as a person who works shift work 7 to 7 both days and nights I can't workout during the weekend day shifts dispite thinking it was going to be 24/7. Secondly a good portions of the machines don't go up to the amount of weight needed for intermediate or advanced lifters. Who want to stick to the 8 to 12 rep ranges. While this is annoying they do have enough free weights to make up for it but having a machine like the calf raise or the machines for the lower backs would be nice if they went up to heavier weight. So definitely not enough to leave the gym but annoying enough thst It bothers me

Expérience fantastique: I received personal training from Ty. He was a great trainer. I was able to learn quickly thanks to his encouragement and expertise. Other than that, the gym is clean and reasonably well maintained, staff are respectful, so this is a great place to work out.

Expérience négative: We are members of the good life from last 1 year , The reason for one review was that they didn't inform to the customer about the holidays off and on website it shows its open 24/7 just for 5 days, And in a month its open hardly 20 days for 24/7 . They deduct the money according to monthly amount every month. The main inquiry about the weekend off Which is unnecessary because they didn't open . If there would be 0 star i will give that .

Expérience fantastique: I usually go in 4 weeknights per week. Not only is it great that the facility is OPEN, but I'm always greeted with friendly "HELLO". Those little things can sometimes get missed during the overnight hours, so that's definitely appreciated. I know staffing can be limited during the nights, but Sebastian is a great asset to your team. He's always doing something. whether it's tidying up, or cleaning or folding towels, but he's never too busy to stop and greet the patrons or ask them about their day. As far as equipment goes, it has everything I would need personally. Although an indoor pool would put it over the top for me! My 5-star rating is based on the overnight hours, as I can't speak for daytime, as I've yet to go in daylight hours. Keep up the great work Sebastian and Goodlife team!

Expérience négative: Moved here from Ontario. I know PEI is small, but I thought since Charlottetown was one of the major parts on the island it would have a decent Goodlife. You’re pretty much deceiving your customers. The gym is not really open 24 as per the great majority of Goodlife franchises. Its is only open 24 hours 3 days in a week. Might want to mention that on your sign outside. People coming from out of this province wouldn’t know. Your customers are paying the standard membership fees for not only the amenities. They are also paying for the hours of operation that suits their needs. If GoodLife wants to charge the same fees it should stay consistent across every location. Charlottetown is big enough to have their only goodlife open 24/7. Very disappointed.

Expérience fantastique: Love this GoodLife, nice large 1 floor field house gym. Even when very busy never have an issue getting equipment. I wish some of the GoodLife's in Dartmouth, NS would undergo renovations to meet the high standard set by the PEI location.

Expérience négative: I would not suggest signing up unless you like being randomly charged with no explainations or solutions, my wife has been with them for a good 6 months, she randomly got a 70 dollar charge a week after she had already paid her normal membership fee.. and she has the basic plan the lady said it was an nsf fee but she had/has the money for the charge in her account and all with no solution, can say she will never go back after how poorly customer service was with her, no getting the taken $ back and shes getting charged again next week their system says.

Expérience positive: Good but should be upgraded like the one we have in Ontario. No hydromassage machines. No time limit on massage chairs people sitting for long hours. Friday closes at 10 pm ?? Why ?? Why not 11 or till midnight. Weekends open till 7 pm why not 8 or 9 pm. Goodlife is supposed to open 24 hours covid times are almost over now.

Expérience positive: I like the facility and the equipment but management needs to get a handle on all the phone usage while members are on machines. With capacity up to 75%, and climbing, its even more imperative to correct this. More staff floating on the floor helping members understand gym etiquette instead of standing behind the front counter on their own phones would be a good start. Signage explaining the issue would help too. Explain how better results are achieved with minimal rest between sets. Explain that in a busy gym atmosphere courtesy to others should be practiced. I know it's not a problem only at Goodlife but they need to look after their own turf. It's a problem talked about a lot between members. You need to get a handle before it comes to a head. Thanks.

Expérience positive: Nice clean gym with good equipment and variety, the staff for the most part is friendly and responsive if you ask a question. Contrary to what a member posted above none of us have a huge issue if someone is lifting extremely heavy and loses control of the weight this is totally understandable. But I’ve lived and worked out in cities all across Canada, Including with professional athletes in Vancouver, and I’ve never seen such bad gym etiquette in regards to machine weight smashing, at least trying to control your weights without the machine plate stacks crashing together like a gunshot last rep every single set for the two hours while you’re there would be awesome! Sometimes the weight being used isn’t heavy say for an isolation exercise, so it’s not typically muscle fatigue… what it is is not being courteous or aware of anybody else around you, including those that may have tinnitus a hearing issue where this is extremely abrasive. No one is expecting a library environment lol, but at least using your muscles to try to control let’s say a lat pull down last rep negative, so there’s just a moderate amount of smash would be really Cool! No one should be forced to wear noise cancelling headphones due to easily solved issues…A number of members I know have moved to other gym’s because of this and a couple other issues, I’m not planning to leave, but some signage up in the club like other Canadian clubs use in regards to this, or a little instruction at the front desk as you sign up, or even some literature to read would probably go a long way. Obviously some of it is trying to jack up your adrenaline, some is simply not knowing basic etiquette which wouldn’t be one’s fault entirely I understand…Again I like the gym, always get in some good conversations with the members or staff so best of luck in future, thanks.
Expérience fantastique: I went to a session with a personal trainer and I loved it. Elena is so professional and friendly, I loved her attitude and you can really tell she knows how to train you to achieve your goals. The gym is always clean and equipment is in excellent conditions. The staff at the entrance is way friendlier now than some months ago when I joined. There has been improvements, good job.

Expérience fantastique: Pretty great gym, the equipment is all fairly new and well spaced apart. It can get busy most weekday evenings, but usually there is enough equipment and space to go about your workout without interruption.

Expérience négative: Was working out today, i was trying to lift heavy, i was on my last death set, when i was about to complete my set my muscles got tired, and took my hands off from the handles of one the back machines and weight was lil heavy and it made noise obviously, and then there was a guy came up to me and said you don’t drop weights like that it’s not good for your muscles and you shouldn’t make any noise in the gym, and then he went to the management to complaint about me, and unfortunately management supported him what he said, and told me to feel sorry to him, Just want to let manager now, because she is the one who was talking to me, that this is not a library its a gym, it can be noisy sometimes, and we pay for the membership which includes wear and tear of the gym, so rather than being biased to one side understand both situations , and i am the of goodlife from at least two years never had a single complaint and I referred at least 13 people to this gym, so be professional and understand the situation like mature person,

Expérience négative: Tried this gym when they first opened. They were offering a "week" free membership but they neglect to tell you they will take the payment from your bank account for the rest of the month! Have not been back since!
Expérience négative: Went here to give it a try.....I walked in the front entrance and noticed a gentleman behind the counter, obviously busy. I waited (meanwhile, there were around 3 other staff members in the back office, who noticed I was there, but did not come out to help me). After approximately 5 minutes the gentleman who was on the computer came over to me (didn't apologize for the wait, nor did he seem friendly). I told him I wanted to use the gym for the afternoon, and he said he had to input my information into the computer since I'd never been there before. So halfway through inputting my information, he just walks off to do something else, and a young lady comes over to the computer after about 2 minutes (she was a yoga instructor)......she then proceeds to ask me the exact same questions that the other guy had JUST asked me. After a couple of minutes, the guy that had been assisting me first came back, and finished up inputting my data into the system. Then he tells me that the "drop in rate" was $25 (didn't bother asking me if I wanted to try the gym out for free or what packages they offered or ANYTHING ELSE.....he said: "the day price usually deters people from buying it.....are you sure you want it?!!) I was shocked, but I'd already spent 20 minutes of my time just standing there, giving them my information, so I just paid the $25 and did my workout. When I finished (about an hour and a half later), I went back to the front desk and asked the same gentleman if he had a pamphlet or something with the different packages on it. He said he didn't have any, and he didn't know. So I asked him if maybe all of that info might be online? He said he wasn't sure, but that I "could try ". I was shocked and horrified at the lack of customer service.....these people did not give a hoot about possibly gaining a new customer......it honestly seemed like they couldn't care less that I was there. I was considering joining this gym, but after that experience, there is NO WAY I would. Very, very rude staff who don't care about customer service or increasing Sales!
