Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport: Avis
Expérience fantastique: Goldring top Quality.
Expérience fantastique: I'm a community member of the UofT Athletic Centre, and have been for 20 years or so. The Goldring gym is calm, clean and quiet. The equipment choices separate it from most commercial gyms in that they are geared towards young, high power athletes; for example many squat racks and very large dumbbells, and fewer cable stations which can get busy at times. The gym ambience is polite and focused, which makes it easy to interact with others, for example when sharing equipment. There are always helpful attendants on hand to provide help and keep the wheels turning. The showers are meagre, so don't go looking for a luxury spa experience here. Highly recommended! No pics because they are not allowed!!
Expérience fantastique: Goldring is clean, modern, and really well-equipped. The gym space is bright with lots of natural light, and the equipment is top-notch. It's great for both casual workouts and more serious training. The track and studio rooms are a nice bonus too. The only downside is it can get super busy during peak hours, especially with students rushing in between classes. You sometimes have to wait for machines or find space. But overall, it’s a solid facility and one of the better athletic centers around.
Expérience positive: Great gym, would be better if you removed the useless hand cycling machines on the first floor and replaced it with another cable machine or a chest/rear delt fly machine.
Expérience fantastique: Facility is clean, and it includes lots of rec. If you need to go Hart house if you need machines
Expérience négative: The facilities are nice, but it’s a little small, and this is aggravated by the fact that the sports teams and personal trainers often reserve up to 2/3 of the entire gym space, making it off limits for other members. As a result the remaining 1/3 of the gym is overcrowded and there’s almost never a squat rack available. Sometimes a sports team reserves a space, like the “turf” area on the ground floor, uses it only for 10 minutes to warm up and then keeps the space roped off for an hour even while they aren’t using it. Currently this gym is great for official U of T athletes and not so great for the rest of the community.
Expérience fantastique: Let's Go Varsity Blue!!!
Expérience positive: Wow. What a beautiful fitness centre. I only attended a few times and didn't get to explore everything Goldring has to offer but I was impressed by the facility for weight training specifically (lightweight, amateur, don't @ me!). There's not a lot of floor space to move around so during peak hours my workout felt constrained but there were so many different options to hit all of the muscle groups that I have no complaints. Awesome place to get to know people and socialize with fellow student athletes if that's your thing. Locker rooms are clean, chic and secure and everyone is really cool.

Expérience positive: Honestly it’s a good gym if you want to cross train, just stay fit. If you are a powerlifter or any speciality do not come here! Not enough cable machines or a leg press. One room with lifting platforms and bumpers. But any accessory you are needing to improvise bc it’s only those resistance cable machines… I’m pretty sure they don’t go over 50lb? Honestly great for the average gym goer, shitty for speciality lifting.
Expérience fantastique: Best hoops gym in the city, very rowdy atmosphere! Not a bad seat in the house
Expérience positive: Great place, with many stations for squats and deadlifts, as well as a fully suspended room for power lifting (you can throw weights on the floor in that room). It could have more cable stations, and sometimes it gets crowded with the Varsity teams training in groups. But the equipment is clean and the environment welcoming
Expérience positive: This a a mixed bag of extremes, while it is a great place to work out, is a disgusting place to shower after a workout, (due to bad architecture in organization of shower and how slopes are esigned in the shower rooms). I try to shower at home, which makes this gymm a lot less useful. The difference is stark....
Expérience fantastique: I love this place, lots of space to exercise. It sometimes get busy hut it is not the only UofT gym and they noted that its for high performance athletes so no complain on that end if some parts are dedicated. I dont see any point for negative reviews, simply use AC or Harthouse gym if youre unsatisfied! Everything is great. Thanks.
Expérience fantastique: This is a very beautiful facility, with countless amenities for aspiring athletes, the basketball court looks very beautiful as well! I often watch basketball here and they also have plenty of seating for spectators, it's good as it gets in terms of a facility for athletics!
Expérience négative: do not go here dawg
Expérience fantastique: Best gym
Expérience négative: Bring back old hours! Or reduce fees. 9pm closure should be bare minimum for students on weekends
Expérience fantastique:
Expérience fantastique: Possibly Ontario’s best university basketball venue and spectator experience! As a visiting team fan it was extremely impressive and the home crowd, teams and facility personnel have incredible energy! If you are able, go support the Toronto Varsity Blues or whoever is visiting! One of the city’s best value spectator sport experiences by far! Well done UofT!
Expérience fantastique: Excellent gym with great equipment. Not a ton of machines but if you're looking for free weights or conditioning, this is the right place. Only downside is when there are Varsity teams in there and the top floor is occupied.
Expérience fantastique: Fantastic
Expérience fantastique: Nice facilities. Impressive.
Expérience positive: Hallelujah this place finally has soap again
Expérience fantastique: The best strength and conditioning facility at UofT without a question. The equipment is world-class Eleiko plates in Kgs. Bumper plates and lifting platforms available for powerlifting and Olympic weightlifting. Not a large selection of machines for bodybuilding since this is a strength and conditioning focused gym. Air conditioning is great. Very helpful staff and an excellent view of the Varsity stadium. Only problems is sometimes the gym is reserved for varsity teams and not available. Go get your BARBELL FIX here !!!
Expérience fantastique: Great equipment, great ventilation, friendly staff, excellent safety protocols.
Expérience fantastique: Good gym. Nice location. Staff is excellent.
Expérience fantastique: Love this facility. Was my go-to a couple years back, pre Covid. State of the art equipment, awesome staff, beautiful architecture.
Expérience fantastique: Good gym. Nice location. Staff is excellent.
Expérience négative: This building is nothing more than a beautiful facade. It's mismanaged, overtly and excessively political. Crowded and generally unpleasant.
Expérience négative: Odd gym layout - limited and cramped workout space. Majority of gym equipment gets reserved for school athletics teams during peak periods. Shower water temperatures cannot be controlled - some days it's frigid cold other days it's scorching hot. There's no proper ventilation above the toilets so be prepared to smell someone else's defecation. This gym also closes for extended periods of time over holidays and special events focused around U of T yet do not take that into account over its membership fees. But it's not surprising for U of T to be full of dirty business schemes - they love to shake every last penny out of their own students despite putting them into debt for decades to come.
Expérience fantastique: Beautiful building for basketball.
Expérience fantastique: Saw Tupac working out holy!!!
Expérience fantastique: Great facility at UofT. Home to the variety blues basketball and volleyball teams.
Expérience positive: *updated 2025. They renovated the weightlifting room and it's so much worse. Biggest issue is that the floor is uneven. Your barbell will roll off the marked platforms and rest diagonally. Really annoying that whoever renovated could not level the floor correctly (especially closing the room for an extra 1-2 months than scheduled). *I've only used the weightlifting equipment* very good gym for powerlifting/Olympic lifting/ free weights. it is shared with athletes, so some areas will be reserved, but I've never had to wait for long for a squat rack. Equipment in the gym includes: ~20 squat racks w/ moveable benches, open room for power/opymic lifting, 4 sets of light to heavy dumbbells, kettle bells, some cardio (~10 treadmills/ellipticals together) and more. If you're looking for weight lifting machines (cables, hammer strength, etc.), Goldring is not for you. Try out the Athletic centre.
Expérience fantastique: Best gym in the Annex area
Expérience fantastique: The equipments are so ridiculous. However I love the atmosphere and vibe, beautiful view of varsity football court is very inspiring and motivating. I always chose it for my workout specialty cardio
Expérience fantastique: My daughter went for volleyball clinic, so professional and my daughter learned alot
Expérience fantastique: Great gym
Expérience fantastique: I could live here
Expérience positive: New facility and range of gym equipments, except for lack of swimming pool.
Expérience positive: Beautiful building but charging 100 dollars for a one month pass is a bit ridiculous.
Expérience positive: Well equipped gym, but very crowded during peak hours
Expérience positive: It’s a decent facility when they aren’t busy; there is a limited number of aerobic machines. considering it’s relatively new, the equipment is in good shape.
Expérience positive: Absolutely gorgeous facility. My only complaint is that I was in one of the classrooms and the air flow was terrible. I was dripping sweat.
Expérience fantastique: Great for weightlifters, powerlifters and those into freeweight lifting! Some machines but not many! Excellent basketball/volleyball courts. Very nice people as staff as well. In my opinion best gym for UofT students and one of the better gyms in the downtown Toronto area.
Expérience positive: Pros: very clean locker rooms and they have a lot of squat racks if that's what you are looking for The view is nice Cons: 1) Correct me if I'm wrong - there were only two bikes and they are very uncomfortable. Also their interface is not very sophisticated. Hart House has much better bikes. 2) I work out in the morning and the glass lets in all the sunlight so it's not as cold as you'd want it to be 3) Summer membership price is disproportionate to the equipment selection - I was pretty disappointed. When I paid I wasn't expecting I won't get nearly as much choice as Hart House provides for half the price. 4) Hours aren't fantastic 5) Towels are not washed properly - there was a trace of someone's blood when I wanted to use it (gross!). I recommend you bring your own towel, especially considering that some people think it's okay to put it on the floor and step on it.
Expérience fantastique: Well equipped gym!
Expérience fantastique: Great gym
Expérience fantastique: Kids are registered for March break camp. The facility is huge and clean. The staff are always smiling and ready to help. Lots of energy in the place being a sports facility. But there's too many stairs. Had to carry my legs on my shoulders to give them a break.
Expérience fantastique: Gorgeous facility with tons of all-purpose racks.
Expérience fantastique: Amazing gym, a lot of weights and lifts
Expérience fantastique: What a great facility! Went to a showcase here a few months and I was truly in awe of the pristine design and amenities provided in this facility. I wish I was a student so that I could have access to that all the time! Great work with the layout as it is more than manageable to get to where you need to be without much fuss.
Expérience fantastique: So many squat racks! Really nice!
Expérience fantastique: Quintessential UofT St. George gym. Hands down best place for a free weights workout thanks to its copious amounts of bench press / squat racks. Workout with a view will keep you motivated, for sure. Staff is welcoming and courteous.
Expérience fantastique: This is where I gym! Thanks U of T
Expérience fantastique: Excellent facilities
Expérience positive: Only free weights, new equipment
Expérience positive: Newer sports facility mainly for U of T students but hosts other special sporting events as well.
Expérience négative: The gym has no mirrors and the equipment is awkwardly placed with little space. Great view though
Expérience positive: Great gym !! Lots of squat racks, nice view, and helpful staffs
Expérience fantastique: State of the art, modern building for all kinds of sports within the St. George Campus of University of Toronto.
Expérience positive: This is a really well organized place, especially if you need racks, and lots of it, to do your workout. However, when the Varsity folks book the place, there is very little room for the small folks like us.
Expérience fantastique: My favourite gym for many reasons. Facilities are great, it's very clean, organized, and is a relatively attractive building. Does get very busy at certain times, but never to the point where no machines are available.
Expérience fantastique: Best gym
Expérience fantastique: Cool Architectural building, nicely done.
Expérience fantastique: Superb gym for U of T students, staff and faculty
Expérience fantastique: One of UofT's premier event venues and work-out spots
Expérience fantastique: Goldring Centre is a modern gym with great equipment, nice view of the street and adjacent university athletic track and helpful staff.
Expérience fantastique: I attended this gym 3-4 times a week as a student and now go as a recent alumni. It was very easy to get my status check complete and pay for my membership, they even got new kettle bells and have the option to wear a wristband to get staff to assist you in you workout now. Honestly love it here, I hope I can keep coming for a while!
Expérience fantastique: This is fantastic place for training with great equipment, amazing space, friendly staff and everything you would need for a great workout.
Expérience fantastique: State of the art, modern building for all kinds of sports within the St. George Campus of University of Toronto.
Expérience fantastique: Attended for a team BB game of my grandson nothing to complain about
Expérience fantastique: Great spot to work out or catch a game!
Expérience fantastique: Went here for an all-star game. Cant find anything bad about it. It's exactly what you would expect.
Expérience fantastique: I like it.
Expérience positive: Nice washrooms
Expérience fantastique: Very sunny, lots of new equipment
Expérience positive: State of the art facility but is very often booked for varsity athletes inconveniencing other users.
Expérience positive: Go for the view alone. Great gym. Amazing pool. Modern and diverse classes to sign up for
Expérience positive: I recently got into power lifting and was frequenting Good Life fitness during the summer. Now that I'm back in school, my tuition covers access to this facility. I've been blow away by the availability of workout equipment here. It can get pretty busy but I've never been upset by how long I had to wait for something.
Expérience positive: Modern and has a key location. The ammenities and basketball court are great, but the equipment for personal workouts is quite limited. There's around 5 Tredmills, no running track, and the weights area is also small. I recommend going on nonbusy hours
Expérience positive: Great facility with new equipment. The only issue I've found is that the top tier is frequently blocked off for team training or group session, limiting the number of squat racks available. It's possible to change your workout or take a barbell from another rack but can be annoying if you had a plan that required the rack. If they made it a bit easier to know when the top tier would be booked then one could plan accordingly. Otherwise, great facility, great staff, really enjoy working out here.
Expérience positive: Beautiful facility with good hours. The weight area isn't too well equipped for accessory movements but it has a surplus of squat racks which is a rare sight. They also have a designated area with bumper plates! Best part is that membership at the AC gives access to this location as well.
Expérience positive: Beautiful gym with a fantastic view of varsity stadium. The light from the tall windows radiates the whole gym. I wish there were more treadmills; I never know if I have to sign up prior to using one... I also wish they had more space to do exercises with mats. On good days, I'm able to find space. However, it is sometimes difficult to find areas where I can place my mat without intruding on someone else's personal space.
Expérience positive: My gym of choice amongst the other options at U of T. Pros: -Friendly and knowledgeable staff with equipment rentals at the front. -Excellent racks, bars, plates and even has chalk for everyone to use. -Padded bench is a luxury I didn't know I was missing. Cons: -Varisty athletes do train here a lot so be prepared for entire sections of squat racks to be closed down to non-varsity gym members.
Expérience fantastique: i came here for a brief visit but the facilities looked amazing.
Expérience fantastique: Very sunny, lots of new equipment
Expérience fantastique: Love this centre. Always a top experience!
Expérience fantastique: Amazing gym. I've only gone to the gym- haven't really explored the other facilities they offer, but so far the gym has been great. They offer everything you could want, and all of the equipment are very new and well maintained.
Expérience fantastique: One of a kind gym
Expérience fantastique: Great for a Varsity Blues games or just some recreational exercise overlooking the Varsity field.
Expérience fantastique: Great and new equipment
Expérience fantastique: Excellent facility, very impressive. Just very busy and difficult to find what you need.
Expérience fantastique: One of the best places in town for high performance sport
Expérience fantastique: My favourite gym at U of T! The facility is so clean and modern, and the gym area provides an excellent view of the Varsity Stadium and surrounding buildings. Staff are super nice.
Expérience fantastique: The facilities at the Goldring are great. The gym membership is joint with the athletic centre, which is great to. They have lots of drop-in gym classes, something for every taste. The sports clinic is great to, I broke my wrist and am there fore physiotherapy. They are rally friendly and professional.
Expérience fantastique: As a UofT student, this is my favourite gym by far. A new and clean facility with a great atmosphere. I normally visit on off hours so there's more than enough equipment/space. Be warned that peak hours will be packed due to Varsity teams booking off sections. Also, all the weights are in kg.
Expérience fantastique: Plethora of Squat Racks :-D
