Expérience fantastique: A fairly small space but well equipped! I recently moved out of Ottawa and had to leave this gym but was a member for three years. The space was always clean, the machines always well taken care of, and there's a good range of dumbbells (up to 80 lbs). The owner was always very nice and welcoming. Could get a bit crowded at the usual busy times (like 5-6 pm) so sometimes had to wait for equipment but not too often. Would definitely recommend!

Expérience positive: Nice place but limited weights. Dumbels go up to 80lbs. There is a total of 8 sets of 45lbs plates and various plates in the smaller range. Not much when you use the leg press and someone else is doing dead lits while a third is squating or benching. Now you only have 4 or 5 sets of plates to press. Could use more plates. Otherwise nice place

Expérience positive: Nice gym but you have to be masked when you are on the machines. No other gyms require that in Ottawa now. Not Movati or Anytime Fitness. After posting this review the owner, a really civilized guy, explained the masking policy was due to client demand. Fair enough.

Expérience fantastique: Best gym in Ottawa, period. This is a small gym, but not many members. So if you pick the right time (morning or night) you might see 5 people maximum. I would say 3 out of 5 times I go, there is around 1 or 2 people in the whole gym and they're usually on treadmills. There are not many young people there, I am probably one of the youngest (20) that I have seen. Very mature, respectful people work out here. The gym is well air conditioned, so you're never boiling hot. They recently punched out a wall to make the stretching/yoga room a lot bigger. New carpet was just put it as well, awesome rubber flooring in the free weight side. Very clean gym. Change rooms are my only gripe as they are a little on the small side. It has never been crowded, but as soon as 2 or 3 people are in there it becomes a bit much, for me anyway. Bottom line is this is an awesome gym if you are serious about working out. There is tons of space to do plyometric workouts, free weights. Also plenty of machines and treadmills if you like that kind of stuff. Been a member here since January 2012. Highly recommended.

Expérience fantastique: A fantastic gym! Just the right size for a great environment; clean, friendly and non-intimidating. Big enough to have most of the equipment you'll need without the downfalls of big gyms. No-nonsense contracts, clean bathrooms and great members.

Expérience fantastique: Wonderful family owned gym. It's never packed and has good equipment. Most people are respectful and follow the gym rules (like not dropping their weights). Clean change rooms, sufficient amount of lockers, friendly staff. Honestly, this gym has everything you'll need.

Expérience fantastique: I wanted to add this review as I've missed Elgin Fitness a lot over the past few months! I've had memberships at other gyms, including others in my neighbourhood, and this is by far my favourite. This is a great, laid back gym with a real sense of community. In particular, I really appreciate the owner and the friendly front-desk staff members. There are enough machines and equipment that there's rarely a need to wait to do anything. There's a separate space that's also handy for using free weights or stretching. While I haven't returned to the gym yet, I'm reassured by the thoughtful measures that are being put in place to mitigate any risks due to COVID-19.

Expérience fantastique: I've just done a couple drop ins, but love the place. I always make sure i go visit whenever im back in Ottawa. Clean, with lots of natural light, and in a nice area of town, with little european-style stores in the neighbourhood. It has all the right machines for a complete workout as well! Totally recommend it

Has everything you need for a gym and I'm never waiting to use equipment, even during the after work rush. Expérience fantastique: Great place that’s super accessible to anyone working and/or living in centertown. Professional, friendly staff; and high quality equipment in almost-new condition. Also taking their COVID-related safety precautions very seriously. Masks are enforced, everything is kept exceptionally clean, and the pre-workout booking system gives everyone the space to do their workout without having to feel nervous about inability to distance from others. Also super happy that, unlike GoodLife these days, you don’t have to worry about the lineups (COVID booking for the win!)

Expérience fantastique: I just started going back since COVID hit! The location, hours, size, equipment, and atmosphere are perfect for me. Very reasonable pricing for couples and individuals. No plans locking you in. I just miss the yoga classes (free for members) and can't wait for that to be a thing again.

Expérience fantastique: I've been going here for about a year (probably longer) and it's been the best gym experience I've had! 1. You pay monthly or a set number of months, no pressuring you into year-long contracts. 2. The gym is always clean and well maintained. I usually go in the evening and the change rooms and gym it self is always spotless! 3. The front desk staff are always nice to talk to (especially Cassy and Vicky). It makes the gym feel incredibly welcoming and a safe place to be. 4. Yes the gym is small and doesn't have everything but as other comments say, if you are comfortable with free weights you wont have issues. (If not, you can sign up with a personal trainer working there, expensive but worth it (I have to recommend Alex)). 5. The owner is taking covid-19 seriously and has safety measures in place to make sure everyone is safe

Expérience fantastique: My spouse and I began attending the gym to follow private training sessions. The staff has always been courteous and friendly. The space is clean and organized. The other members are polite and respectful. The changing area was well kept. The owner is friendly and will always reestablish à connection with you to hear how things are doing on a personal level. Great boutique place to workout and feel accepted and safe.

It is missing some machines that most other large gyms have but for the most part if you can use free weights you'll be able to get in a good workout. Expérience fantastique: We've been members for a few months now. This is the most low pressure, relaxed gym I've been to. It's small and doesn't have any classes (other than yoga a few times a week) but that's not what we were looking for. The machines are well maintained, the change rooms are clean, and the clientele are focused. This is not the kind of gym where it's more like a social club, but that's perfect. We love it here.

Expérience fantastique: Elgin Fitness is a great place to workout and meet new friends, nothing else downtown can compare! The location of the gym is perfect as it is centrally located in the Golden Triangle area of Elgin street. I have worked out in many gyms in Ottawa and none of them compare to the community feel of Elgin fitness. I found that the gym was never busy and I could always get my workout in. The gym is kept clean with and tidy by the friendly staff and the equipment is well maintained. The gym has a very trendy and unique feel with great music, artwork and modern wall colors. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a gym in downtown.
