Fantastic experience: Amazing gym! The environment is very clean, organized and bright. It has all of the equipment you need, and more. Everyone is extremely welcoming, especially the staff. There is a good variety of group workouts and resources. This gym is really a 'hidden gem!'

Fantastic experience: Extremely clean and comes with an amazing assortment of free weights and cable weights. Nice bright vibe where the people are friendly including the employees. Wendy was a big help for me when it came to my recent visit. Not being from around here it's nice to feel so welcomed from the second I walked in.

Fantastic experience: I really like and appreciate the friendly and helpful staff, friendly clientele, and cleanliness of the facility. I wholeheartedly recommend DFC for anyone! I regularly participate in classes and visit the gym almost every day!

Negative experience: Prices aren’t reasonable for a local
Hi there, DFC prices are comparable to other fitness facilities in the area. The DFC meets the needs of many of our locals as evident from new and renewing members. You can email, call or drop in to the DFC if you have any questions about our pricing structure.
Fantastic experience: DFC is an excellent facility. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The equipment is in excellent condition and well cared for. The space is very clean.

Negative experience: Could be a thriving gym in a growing town if it had more component management.
The Centre understands and respects this person's frustration; that his work commitments do limit his ability to access the gym during its scheduled hours. Multiple factors are involved in setting staffing/volunteer shifts and hours of operations. Including dealing with the longer term business impacts of covid. Management in recognizing that the DFC cannot fulfill his expectation that the gym become a 24/7 access gym, has offered and processed a full 100% refund to this recently new/rejoining member.

Thank you Tammy! The DFC non-profit vision has always been to provide area residents with affordable access to 1st rate commercial fitness facility and equipment. You comment is appreciated. Since 2018; the DFC has invested $84,000 to replace and upgrade equipment/services to serve West Grey and area municipalities for years to come. The DFC recognizes that it is the members that truly make the Durham Fitness Centre such a great place to workout.

Positive experience: Friendly and knowledgeable staff, clean facilities, new machines/weights, has a sauna. Not very good hours of operation on weekends though.
Thank you Jamie for the positive comments. The DFC is a small(<300members)gym with a non-profit mandate to maintain affordable fees. Analysis of the membership and finances over the years; has supported Saturday morning only hours and Sunday hours that are staffed based 100% on volunteer availability. However, your point is understood by the Board and with recent membership growth; the Board approved a trial schedule to add 2 more paid staff hours(2pm closure) to Saturdays. It is too early yet to assess the numbers and impact.

Negative experience: Too expensive for people on fixed income. And no I didn't say anything too embarrassed.
As a non-profit we must strike a balance between affordable fees and being able to keep our lights on. Our annual rate for 65+ is only $400 HST included(advance renewal rate). We do have the lowest annual rates in the area. Some of our members are on fixed incomes. Over the years we have worked with individuals to find creative ways(instalments...) for them to access a membership outside of our posted rates. Dan Sullivan President
