When I joined, I was pretty clear with coach Mauricio that I didn’t have much prior experience with martial arts and I wanted to switch up my lifestyle and get more physically active while learning new skills. Coach Mauricio helped me to focus on fundamentals, to breathe, to build a proper stance and kept me challenged and motivated to keep training and learning new combos and techniques the whole time. Fantastic experience: This gym is incredible , Mauricio and team combine world class Muay Thai and Brazilian Ju Jitsu into a MMA system that has coached World Champion fighters and many other Pros. Located downtown close to the universitys it has a lot of classes for beginners such as myself , everyone's super welcoming which was a plus . One of the best decisions I've made for sure

Fantastic experience: Great MMA gym in downtown Toronto. You can take muay thai, BJJ and wrestling classes all in one night. It is a BJJ World champion Lovato affiliated gym and you never know when you will see him on the mats. Excellent kids bjj classes as well. If you want to learn striking, takedown and submission coach Mauricio can do all 3.

Fantastic experience: All the classes and coach are amazing. I love the Jiujitsu Beginner class (Monday&Tuesday, 5pm). I never did Martial Arts before, here I feel comfortable to learn. Girls and family are welcome. s2

Fantastic experience: I have beem training on and off with Mauricio and the Evolucao team for almost 9 years. Even as a beginner I was always treated with respect and was met with a welcoming attitude. Coaches clearly have a passion for the sport and want everyone to succeed. Regardless of skill level, you will find a comfortable spot in this gym. Not to mention the location is very convenient for anyone in the downtown core and the membership pricing is very reasonable for the number of classes you have access to on a daily basis (morning and evening). If you're looking for a solid martial arts school, I would look no further.

Fantastic experience: A young family member attends Evolucao and has found a home away from home at the gym. He tells me that everyone has been kind, helpful, and patient with him as he learns the rudiments of MMA, Muay Thai, BJJ, and wrestling and he has taken to the sport with great enthusiasm as a result. Fantastic experience: It was probably the best decision to sign up with Evolucao. I was intimidated before I signed up because I’m a completely beginner, I was surprised that it’s a beginner friendly environment, and the community is very supportive. In addition, the staffs take time to explain the techniques to you, you won’t feel neglected in the group class. I highly recommend it to anyone who want to try MMA.

Fantastic experience: I was looking for a nice activity in the afternoon were my kid can have fun at the same time that practice some movement and I found this academy of marcial art . My kid was instantly feeling good in her firts class , also I was able to practice and improve some marcial art movement and enjoy the class . The teachers are so professional they know how to help you to get better each class also they adjust to you skills levels to bring you in a short time the best of you , making you love the practice each day . If you a family and don't know what do with your kids Evolucaothai has the best class in the Toronto of marcial arts for kids and parents!

Fantastic experience: Years ago I was making the transition from kickboxing to MMA, I had a few years of competitive experience and knew what I was looking for. In my search I came across two gyms that fit the bill, Evolucao was the first that I visited. I never went to check out the second gym on my list because after attending my first class here I knew this was the place to be. When I first came in I was warmly greeted by Mauricio (the head instructor) and given a mini tour of the gym after signing a waiver (at the time the gym was located on Dufferin). I told Mauricio that I had experience and was looking to compete, he heard me out and had me spar two of his best students to test my ability. Both students easily outclassed me but even so Mauricio saw potential; he's the type of guy who sees the best in everyone. Most gyms would have you go through a tier system and work your way up regardless of claimed skill level, not here, at Evolucao Thai it's straight to the point. The reason I knew this place was special was because of the energy of the class, everyone got along, the more experienced people helped others learn things they didn't know and no one was ever harassed or put down, any criticism was constructive and polite. There aren't separate groups for beginners and advanced students, I think this is a good thing as it allows new students to learn directly from the more experienced ones and gives them a look at the skills they will eventually develope in action right before their eyes. It also creates stronger bonds between members of the gym and opportunities for new friendships and connections across the board. All the coaches are competent and kind and serve as great examples for all students, promoting healthy balanced lifestyles. They understand that not all students are looking to go pro yet treat all with the same respect. Whether you're looking to become a champion or just have some fun while learning a new skill, Evolucao Thai will show you the way. As Mauricio says: "we don't learn to fight to cause others pain, we learn to fight to learn the truth of ourselves and how to make our dreams our reality".

I have trained and know many people within GTA and Mauricio is the top person to learn from, bar none! Plus the gym has a great attitude and very inviting to all questions... Fantastic experience: I love the entire team at Evolucao Thai. Their coaches are friendly, experienced and and amazing teachers. The members are welcoming regardless if you have martial arts experience or not. This is one of the few places where I can train in Budokon Mobility in Toronto. Fantastic experience: I had such a great time training with Mauricio and all the guys at Evolucao Thai. I was encouraged to try all the classes on offer including MMA and kickboxing. I loved the atmosphere, teaching philosophy and something that is often underreported on, cleanliness. Mats were always cleaned before class and that makes for a pleasant experience. Negative experience: The worst MMA gym ever they act like know so much but they don't. To anyone new trying to come here I recommended not going here because instead of teaching you the fundamentals they will tell you to come everyday and you will learn yourself which will cause so much confusion for beginners. This gym will also treat you like a dummy if your new they do not care if your new they will test their experience on you instead of going easy on you which in MMA scares the new beginners. They got this gym hyped because they are Brazilian and they know a few fighters so they publicity it but in real life this gym is really BAD.

Fantastic experience: Honestly the best MMA school that I have been too in Toronto. Good sparring, decent prices, parking, owner has great credentials. Smaller sized classes, good for one on one work. Wrestling, MMA, Muay Thai, Jiu-jitsu, Yoga and conditioning classes. What more can a person ask for?

Fantastic experience: Evolução Thai is an absolutely amazing MMA gym! The head instructor, Master Mauricio Amado, is by far one of the best MMA coaches in Canada with over 20 years of experience. He grew up training at the Chute Boxe academy in Brazil, developing alongside of fighters like Wanderlei Silva, Anderson Silva, Mauricio Shogun Rua, etc. The caliber at Evolução Thai is beyond belief, and it is more than just a gym - it is a family! You can feel the family/friendly atmosphere walking into the gym. Just drop in for a class and see for yourself.

The level of training you get at this gym is unparalleled to anything I have ever experienced. I started with zero experience and cannot believe what I have accomplished. The people you meet are incredibly supportive and Maurcio is one of the best MMA coaches in all of Canada. If you are seriously interested in learning MMA, Jujitsu, Wresling and Muay Thai, you will not find a better gym in all of Ontario.
