Niagara Kung Fu Academy

Fantastic experience: My son joined NKFA in the summer and has loved going to every class. He loves learning new kicks and punches. He is so glad he joined the leadership class to become more prepared for life and of course learning to use weapons! All the instructors are amazing, kind and patient. My son is learning to have more confidence and self discipline. Mr. Numainville and Mr Hanson make the classes fun and interactive for all.

Fantastic experience: My kids just recently started their 2 weeks free lessons and they are LOVING it ! The instructors are so nice and kind with all age groups !

Fantastic experience: A family oriented kung fu school. It has nothing to do with the traditional martial arts schools or other sports facilities. It is a place ran by a very kind, friendly, competent and professional owners and team. You will feel welcomed and included as of day one. They truly help develop self-confidence, discipline, healthy habits, stress and anxiety control, self-esteem, self-defense and many more skills to navigate and succeed in life. It is very affordable compared to many other schools. I trained there for 10 years and now I am back with my kid. That is the beauty of this school, it can become a family activity to look forward to. I would keep on going but words will never be enough to describe how incredible and High quality this school is. To try it is to love it. If only we could give more stars

Negative experience: I visited this academy for the second time, and while the facility is well-maintained and the staff seem kind, I was deeply disappointed to learn that they cannot accommodate children with disabilities, particularly those with communication challenges. They explained that they do not have the resources or tailored classes to support disabled children. Unfortunately, this lack of inclusivity makes the academy inaccessible for families seeking a welcoming and adaptive environment for all children. Inclusivity is an important aspect of community programs, and I hope they consider making changes to address this in the future.

Fantastic experience: I'm giving this place a five star because I joined in August and it's now November and I absolutely love it I have leveled up from my white belt to gray belt and I have made lots of friends and all the teachers there are so nice

Negative experience: I have a child who is on the spectrum. He was invited to a party.. male instructor included my son to ask his name. But excluded him from other questions. I my son wasn't being included.. seen the ball passed to everyone else. I spoke up. Ignored. So I left with my son. Didn't want him to ruin the party.. I sent and email and was ignored by this place. I do not recommend them to anyone.

Your expertise has left a great impact on me. The skills and techniques I learned in the class has given me a sense of empowerment and confidence in myself and my physical abilities. Fantastic experience: Niagara Kung Fu Academy is amazing. My daughter went to a "Bring-A-Friend" day over March break and from then on all she talked about was Kung Fu. We ended up signing up for the 2 week trial. She absolutely loved it. All of the instructors are amazing with the kids (and adults) taking classes. Everyone is treated with absolute respect no matter their age or rank. They work with the group to ensure everyone is getting the best out of their experience. They understand that not everyone learns the same and adapt their teaching techniques to help everyone learn the way the suits them. Everyone gets "homework". The "homework is a character builder sheet that basically has the students doing everyday tasks (like making the bed, brushing teeth, eating a healthy snack, etc.). It has made a huge impact on my daughter not only at Niagara Kung Fu when she is there, but at school and in her everyday life as well. She takes what she learns at Niagara Kung Fu (focus, discipline, respect, etc) and incorporates it into her everyday life.

Fantastic experience: The best possible investment in yourself! I signed up with the hope of a regular way of staying in shape physically. What I didn't expect was their curriculum includes regular personal development and accountability on top of it. I have been going to classes for a year and I've experienced incredible transformation within myself and continue to uplevel myself to this day. I could barely read a book to save my life, now I read regularly as part of the leadership curriculum. It's not for everyone but it's for those who are ready to uplevel themselves in a big way and also be part of a welcoming community. I can confidently say I've found my tribe! I can't think of what life would be like without Niagara Kung Fu Academy!

Fantastic experience: I trained cadets in leadership when I was in my 20s, and I dabbled in several martial arts as well.I remember the feeling of belonging. Jump 30 years later, I found this feeling of belonging and camaraderie again. Plus, I’m back to doing things I thought were now beyond my reach at my age. I had not looked up to anyone in the last couple ou years but that all changed when I met my Sifu… I hope to see you all there!!

Fantastic experience: We just attended a great homeschool event here. I was so impressed at how well they connected with the kids and the tot value of this free class. My boys enjoyed it so much!

Fantastic experience: This academy is so much more than a place to do martial arts! Firstly the instructors and admin staff are amazing, the atmosphere is welcoming and inclusive to everyone and the program itself provides not only all the things you want for your child (confidence, self-discipline, conflict resolution and fitness) but also an outstanding social element that is second to none! I was hesitant to try this school at first because it is further from my home than I really wanted to travel but I have now been there for a year and not only do my two children love this place and the people but the Academy made it easy for me to join them and now we are a true Kung Fu family and we all receive the wonderful benefits of this program both socially and physically! I truly cannot encourage anyone enough to check out Niagara Kung Fu Academy, you will not regret it!

Fantastic experience: I cannot be happier with our decision to join Niagara Kung Academy. My son has been a member for over 5 years and my Husband, daughter and I for the last 3. Nowhere have I ever felt so comfortable and supported in an environment outside of my home. It is like a second family. They want you to succeed in all that you do and grow to be the best you can be. The development in my sons self regulation and confidence is amazing. My daughters coordination and leadership skills are getting stronger. I like to use the term self cultivation when describing what I do here, because not only do you grow in your physical discipline, but I have grown mentally and have developed more confidence and even spiritual awareness. Never would I have imagined I would be on this path, taking martial arts, but I can definitely say it is one of the best things in my life. I look forward to the day I wear my black sash.

Fantastic experience: Niagara Kung Fu is a great place to not only train martial arts but to also make new friends, learn about personal development, and practice relevant life skills such as self-discipline, leadership, and stress and time management. They offer multiple classes at different times, for both kids and adults. The instructors here are positive and friendly, and are always open to listening and helping when you or your child may need it. At Niagara Kung Fu, you get to practice martial arts and progress at your own pace. The school does a great job at including everyone and creates a safe atmosphere throughout the building. After training for over 2 years, Kung Fu is still the thing I most look forward to in my day. I’ve made plenty of great friends with people in the school and if it weren’t for NKFA I’m not sure what my life would be like today. If you’re looking to find a new fitness place, train self-defence, and/or develop your discipline and leadership skills then Niagara Kung Fu is the place to go.

Fantastic experience: Niagara Kung Fu Academy has been a saving grace for our family. For the last two years, my children and I have trained in a positive and supportive environment, and have grown immensely; both physically and mentally. NKFA has provided my children with a safe environment that has helped to foster self-control, self-awareness, self-discipline, accountability and self-respect. Sifu and all of the instructors have always been very professional, caring and invested in providing us with the best experience possible. We are proud to train at Niagara Kung Fu Academy and are thankful for such a life enriching experience.

Fantastic experience: I am far from a traditional martial arts student. I went to NKFA desperate for an exercise program that I would not grow bored of and would challenge my mind as much as my body. In the last few years, NKFA has provided just that and so much more. The community they have created is supportive, challenging and creative. I enrolled my children a year after myself. Both of them are thriving in the program. Their coordination has drastically improved, they have gained both confidence and discipline, but most importantly they are overall happier children. I strongly recommend both the kids and adults classes. It's truly a family experience.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful experience! The assignments and trainings are structured to help students to grow, learn and excel physically and mentally. The program required consistency on training. My child was quite shy when he first started the program. Since the program, he developed confident and grit to set goals to achieve. The instructors are very supportive, patient and knowledgeable. They are willing to help the students to succeed in variety of levels and goals. Of course parents' support is still one of the most important elements to succeed.

Fantastic experience: Words can't express how much of a blessing this place has been in my life. Oldschool values mixed with lighthearted humour and a warm friendly atmoshpere. Sifu rob and his team are so genuine and proffesional.. I only wish I started years ago!

Negative experience: Let me preface this with the fact that I didn't actually enroll here... because no one working a minimum wage job with any sort of bills could afford to. I went online looking for somewhere to learn tradition chinese martial arts and to my good fortune there was a school in NF teaching just that and even crazier an old co worker teaches there (a fantastic guy btw). So I leave my contact info and they send me an email saying they'll contact me. Neat. They call me the next day to set up a free lesson. I think, "hell yeah I'd love to check it out and meet the instructors. I'm an incredibly anxious person so I'd like to meet the people to see if I'd even be comfortable learning there." I don't ask about price and the nice lady on the phone didn't feel it was important enough to discuss. I figure, hey whatever I'm sure its not too bad. let's see what they have to offer. They send me a free video including a breathing exercise. The Sifu explains that if I were to stick with their techniques and classes I could possibly cure my anxiety and eliminate the need for medication.... right here I already felt a bit off. First of all, don't stop taking your anxiety medication just because you're doing techniques that can aid you in your incredibly uphill and unending battle. Anyone who actually deals with this daily struggle could tell you just how horrible that advice would be. Also you can pay for the video lessons. they run about 80 dollars... I am now worried about what I'm getting myself into. I go to my first free lesson with the head instructor. An extremely nice gentleman, very softspoken and friendly. A lot like myself. I have an amazing first lesson and can't believe how excited I am to enroll here. An anxious person like me finally has an activity that he feels comfortable driving a half hour just to take part in a short lesson?? My lesson comes to an end and I ask "I didn't see your pricing on the website and didnt catch it over the phone, what's it like?" Sifu: "We still need to do your second free lesson and see what classes you qualify for and then we'll talk about that." In my car im thinking..." I'm a beginner... I qualify for nothing. What does that even mean??" but hey I really like this place so I don't put much more thought into it. I get sent a review video in my email about what i just learned. I review it excitedly and think wow this place is great. And don't get me wrong. It is. I'm not being sarcastic at all. It genuinely seems like a fantastic place to learn and a great style of martial arts. It even actually seems as encouraging an environment as advertised. I go to my second lesson. I'm very shy and nervous but also very excited. The gentlemen talks about how he likes to have these one on ones to really get to know each student and make sure they are not ego maniacs, or tough guys that would ruin the environment. I think "YESSSSS!!! I hate bros, bullies, and every other type of egotistical pretentious jerkwad! this place is perfect!" Class ends. FINALLY i can find out if I can afford to even go here on my minimum wage paycheck. He sits down and shows me the schedule. there are ZERO morning classes except saturday which is a review class for techniques you should know from the previous lessons. I work afternoon to nights most days. I can't make any classes. I'm beyond upset. He then proceeds to tell me that it costs $300 A MONTH to enroll. Not to mention there's a one time registration fee of DOUBLE THAT. oh but hes going to offer me a deal right now if I sign up today... Let me spare you minimum wagers, it's not much of a deal. Needless to say I could not afford this at the moment. When I came into the club he shook my hand and said nice to see you. As I awkwardly left the club that second day there was no handshake and he had a look in his eye that said "I'll probably never see you again." To have the balls to talk to me about ego... When you apparently only teach rich kids. I don't care how rare or effective your techniques are... You're not worth what you think you are.

Fantastic experience: I have only just joined at NKFA, and so far my experience has been nothing but pleasant. I originally went in to sign up my eldest minion only to end up signing up myself, starting with two introductory lessons, and now my first class. Even at moments when I was lost, there was always someone available encouraging with their fist times and tips. I am so happy I made this choice, as it is a promise to myself to a healthier and happier lifestyle for myself and my family. Def recommend!

Fantastic experience: Enrolling in Niagara Kung Fu Academy has been an amazing experience. As a person suffering from an anxiety disorder I was very apprehensive about joining. But my fears were for naught as this place is simply filled with support and positivity! There is never any pressure or judgement. The classes are so fun and the instructors all have a great sense of humor! In the short time I have been enrolled I have noticed my Co ordination is getting better, my confidence is starting to improve, I am getting in better shape both physically and mentally and I always have fun! The head instructor ( Sifu ) helps you set and acheive the goals you are trying to reach. And on top of all this you are learning great self defence!
