Our comment from FitFit Canada about Club Aviva Gymnastics:
Club Aviva Gymnastics, located in Coquitlam, Canada, is a vibrant center that offers an array of gymnastics classes for children of all ages. Many users have praised the experienced instructors who focus on building both competence and confidence in their students. Parents appreciate the friendly and supportive environment, making it a wonderful space for youngsters to learn and grow.
Visitors have noted the great facilities and the wide selection of classes available, with many children attending multiple times a week. The atmosphere is designed to empower kids while also enhancing their gymnastics skills through fun and engaging lessons.
However, some reviews reflect a need for improvement. A few parents have expressed concerns about the skills of some younger coaches, mentioning that they sometimes lack the authority required to engage younger children effectively. Additionally, some families noted that the class size can impact attention given to individual students, especially in competitive settings.
Despite some areas for improvement, Club Aviva remains a popular choice, especially for those seeking a mixture of fun and skill development. It's also favored for being a great venue for birthday parties and community events.

Club Aviva Gymnastics: Opinions
Fantastic experience: I go here I love it soooo fun hard work but it’s worth it I love gymnastics here the people are so friendly too
Hi London, It sounds like you're having an amazing experience! Gymnastics can be challenging, but it’s great to hear that the hard work pays off and that you have such a supportive community around you.
Fantastic experience: I have been happy with them for 4 years now. They are having experienced instructors focus on building competence and confidence.
Negative experience: My 5 year old daughter attended here for a couple of months i believe from oct to jan. Throughout the time there it seemed fine until one day when I had gone to watch my daughter. I had noticed a group of girls and their coach and the reason I had noticed this was because the little girl was in tears, balling her eyes out. I was assuming that this was competitive as I do know it is more intense. I had previously worked for a gymnastics club in Wpg, mb and never have I ever seen staff screaming, arms going everywhere, and let alone making their student cry to the point where you can clearly see her chest going in and out from how hard she was crying. At this point I was taken back and in a sense disturbed by what I was seeing so I had gone to go speak to the lady at the front, She is the one who I see at the front most of the time, on halloween she was dressed as a cheetah cat(irrelevant), but anyways, she was the first person I had seen so I went to her, As im explaining this to her she seemed completely annoyed by what I was saying and she proceeded to tell me " yea thats the competitve, its way more intense". I did explain to her that I have previously worked as a gymnastics coach so I am aware of how the competitive works, she than cut me off and said "oh yea for what company". I did tell her but also add in that it is irrelevant to ask, I again proceeded to bring the problem up and she said her coaches know what they are doing and that specific individual is , and i quote "quite lazy". As a parent I was so disturbed with that comment. As an old coach I have seen the competitive coaches cut,(take them out of competitive) the girls who aren't working as hard, not abuse them by screaming in their face to the point they are hyperventilating. Long story short, the response I received was heart wrenching as nothing was clearly going to be done as she had defended the employee who screamed at the little girl...... and I hope to any parent reading this to LISTEN to your child if they do not want to do something anymore. I did finish that last few classes but missed majority of them as it was hard for me to continue to bring my daughter there after. I had originally chose this place from the reviews on google and because someone at my daughters daycare was also attending but was beyond disappointed with the behavior that occurs there from staff. very disappointed to see you would rather lie and defend such abusive behavior as this incident was not addressed nor was the coach yelling at the class, as all other students were continued to do their routine but this one specific little girl had to stand their while her coach yelled at her. She was clearly not in pain but severely upset from being yelled at. Crying with her arms crossed looking extremely sad and not in what say was pain. **UPDATE TO RESPONSE It is very disheartening that you continue to remain dishonest in your responses to the review I've left. I do advise that anyone who witnesses such behavior to record as that was my only regret is not getting the proof of what my eyes had seen. Also the response I recieved from the manager that evening when I had addressed this situation, was calling that specific student lazy as well as not once explaining that the student was injured so it is humorous that this is the new story to the incident. It is shameful to see you make up such a story to protect your staff rather than the children. We has parents confide in your club to keep our children safe and you failed to do so with the continued effort to defend such behavior.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are deeply sorry to hear about the incident you witnessed during your time at Club Aviva. We take feedback like yours very seriously and are committed to providing a safe and positive environment for all of our students. We apologize for the distressing situation you witnessed and want to assure you that we do not condone any behavior that harms or upsets our students. At the time, we discussed the situation with the head coach, who explained that the athlete was experiencing heel issues and needed to see a doctor to address the problem. The athlete was upset and crying, not because the coach was yelling at the class, but because of her physical affliction. It is important to note that the athletes are not being reprimanded for laziness, but rather the coach was concerned for their health and well-being. Our coach was suggesting again to the athlete that they see a doctor. In that circumstance from far away and when sitting in the viewing room that it appears the coach was raising her voice to the athletes. We understand your concerns as a parent and appreciate your feedback. If there is anything else you would like to discuss or if there is anything we can do to make things right, please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly. Once again, we apologize for the negative experience you had and any miscommunication. Club Aviva
Positive experience: We had a great experience with the dynamic duo class but after that found it to be very hit or miss depending on the coaches you get. A lot of the coaches are young and although qualified to coach, don’t have the authority and presence to get the attention of and instruct 3/4 year olds. We tried to move classes to a different coach but all full. My child has done great with some coaches and really struggling with others. After 3 years I think this will likely be our last season. The cost is not equal to the quality of coaching. May as well be at a local rec centre and pay less
Fantastic experience: A great facility for youngsters to be empowered at.
Hello Edward Thank you for your positive review! We are happy to hear that you found our facility to be a great place for youngsters to be empowered. Our goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment where young people can learn and grow. We appreciate your feedback and hope to continue to provide a valuable experience for all who visit our facility.
Positive experience: Fun place but... They won't move kids into higher levels based on skill, only on age. They were going to make my kid redo their last class even though they were the highest performing. We moved to the Circus School in New West
Fantastic experience: My son has been coming here for 3 years now and he just loves it!!! Great coaches, big gym and lots of good classes to choose from. Good for children of all ages!
Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear that you had such a positive experience with our gymnastics class. We're dedicated to providing a fun and enriching environment for all our athletes, and it's wonderful to know that your son enjoys his time with us. Regards, Club Aviva
Negative experience: I have a bit of a mixed review for recreational classes. I noticed that with more senior/older coaches there is some progress and coaches are actually paying attention to each kid’s performance, and correct them when required. But with younger coaches, it’s not the same way (at least with some of them). They just tell kids to do one activity and don’t really bother to correct them. Like half of the time, they are not even watching kids performance. Instead, they would chat with other fellow coaches, or be distracted. I don’t blame them for chatting, I just think they are a bit too young to be training kids, for whom parents are paying high class fees, and want quality training in return. Maybe another reason why the club don’t bother to check quality of recreational classes, because (in my opinion) they wouldn’t consider kids over 5-6yrs old to switch to competitive classes (although they would tell you that “it is a possibility”). I guess the only way to switch to competitive is to start from 1yrs old or to come from another competitive club. Anyway, we did not really want kids to go to competitive level, but rather to have some progress in gymnastics. With 1.5yrs of attendance there, we only saw a slight improvement. It looks like when the place becomes popular and overcrowded, the quality significantly declines. Overall it’s a nice place for kids to spend some activity time, but if you want them to progress, I would recommend signing up for senior coaches.
Thank you for sharing your experience with the recreational classes at the gym. It's unfortunate to hear that there is a discrepancy in the level of coaching between younger and senior coaches. All are coaches might look young but they are certified and have their with Gymnastics BC Level 1 and they have more then 10 years of gymnastics experience. Our coaches support kids of all ages in their gymnastics journey, offering opportunities to improve and challenge themselves in gymnastics no matter if they would like to continue with our instructional programs or competitive programs. We would love hear from you to address some of your other concerns as we continue to improve our programs. Thank you for sharing your feedback Club Aviva
Negative experience: My child has been attending the Aviva Gymnastics Club for 3 years. however, we have only noticed minimal progress. Most coaches are teenagers who barley have any experience and expertise to facilitate a notable progress in the kids. they usually just supervise the kids rather than teaching any skills. If you're seeking an additional 'activity' for your child, it might suffice, but if you are looking for them to learn, seek other alternatives.
Thank you for taking the time to share a review. We’d love to try and make this right. If you’d like to connect further by phone or email, we’ll work with you to try and find a solution. Thanks again for bringing this issue to our attention.
Fantastic experience: Lovely facility and instructors.
Thanks Adedolapo! Our instructors are constantly working to develop their coaching skills.
Fantastic experience: Professional and friendly environment!
Positive experience: Great place and my daughter has been loving it. The 3 star review is cuz I called to ask if a family emergency came up and my daughter couldn’t make a lesson what would happen to that session. Could it possibly be carried over to another month as we paid for this. I was informed that nothing could be done about it and that if any lessons are missed that’s at our own expense.
Hi Fozia, Sorry we are unable to accommodate your request for a make-up class. Safety and consistency are very important to us. As most of our classes are already full, finding a class with open spaces to safely accommodate a make-up is very challenging. Adding extra students also changes the dynamic of the class which can be disruptive for the regularly enrolled students in the class. Thank you for your understanding.
Negative experience: No communication. No body do their job correctly.
Hi Shiva, thank you for leaving a review. We are sorry that we didn’t meet your expectations. May we ask why you left a negative review? Knowing why will help us solve any issues for you, as well as improve our service for you and other customers going forward. If you’d prefer to voice your concerns in private, please feel free to contact us directly. Manager: [email protected] 604-526-4464
Fantastic experience: This club is way better than Tag in Poco. They have hands-on training!
Thanks Joe! Our instructors are constantly working to develop their coaching skills.
Fantastic experience: Clean facility and the coaches are AMAZING!
Thanks Alissa, we work very hard to have as clean of a facility as possible. Our coaches are indeed AMAZING!!!
Positive experience: Yas
Hi Zuzana
Positive experience: The instructors for the youth courses are great. That's what the 3 stars are for. They lose 2 stars for the lack of parking spots available & the nasty condition of the washrooms.
Fantastic experience: Coaches are knowledgeable and very skilled.
Negative experience: They keep the doors locked until the start of the class so the class doesn't start until 20 minutes after the start time (after scanning vaccine passports and changing etc). When asked if we could be let in early in the future so we didn't lose a big chunk of our 45 minutes class, the staff were unreceptive and dismissive. As a result, we asked to cancel the class but still had to cough up $125 in 'registration fees'
We apologize for the negative experience on your first time at Club Aviva on Saturday, February 5th, 2022. Due to Provincial Health Regulations and three other businesses in this facility, we have had no choice but to keep the doors locked. For our business within the facility, Club Aviva has a coach/supervisor arrive at the door to collect class participants ensuring that all vaccines checks have been conducted and recorded accordingly, along with other covid-19 protocols. Managers witnessed that your vaccine was checked before your 9:00am class start time. In fact, your family was first to enter our facility. On the first day, parents and toddlers often take longer to take shoes and coats off and place in cubbies. And we ask the coach to wait for all participants to be ready to go together as a group/class to warm up and get started. At 9:04 our coach began the class, and to compensate for the first day starting late, she ran the class 5 minutes over to account for the late start to ensure the class had a full 45 minutes. The Preschool Coach also explained and apologized at the end of the class for the hectic start of the first day of the session. Your husband and child were in the class, and you were communicating your dissatisfaction with the late start and demanded a refund. Our Office Manager, quickly refunded you 100 % of the remaining 17 out of 18 classes. Unfortunately, there is an annual membership fee of $60 which clearly states is non-refundable, as much of this amount is sent directly to Gymnastics BC for Insurance purposes and is mandatory. In addition, you paid for the first class that your child and husband participated in which cost $20.17 and you were refunded 100% of the remaining classes for a total of $342.83. Unfortunately, it did cost you $80.17 (membership $60 + 1 attended class $20.17). Please be advised that the Gymnastics BC membership is valid until August 31, 2022 and can be utilized at Club Aviva or transferred to any club within BC. You are welcome to re-register for gymnastics at any time within this period. During the class which your husband and child attended, the coach observed that your child seemed thrilled, was following along with the class and appeared to be really enjoying the class. At Club Aviva we thrive on doing our best and creating a positive fun experience for all. We will definitely use this feed back to provide an earlier start to the first class of each session. We do have 15 minutes in between all preschool classes to account for transition into the facility and class, which at least permits us to compensate for unexpected time delays such as vaccine checking, or to run a class a little over time. We will strive to do better at the start of our next session.
Fantastic experience: Great place great staff friendly people who care about there customers and help and care about the kids and help special needs recommend it it’s amazing and good for party’s 10/10 ❤️
Wow Milo Remi, we are truly honoured to have such amazing feedback! We really appreciate you as a customer and helping share the word about us! It is much appreciated, thank you for leaving this heartfelt 5-Star review! <3
Fantastic experience: I like this place
We are incredibly grateful that you took the time to leave a 5-star review, Matthew Selman, it is truly appreciated! :)
Fantastic experience: Love this gym! Good covid cleaning
Positive experience: The gym is good. Waiting area is poorly arranged. Very limited uncomfortable seats. Be prepared.
Negative experience: We were there for our child’s birthday party, we initially had planned for 12 kids so we ordered one pizza, and we were not sure if more will show up so I called the office and I was told that we will be fine because we will also get a dozen hot dogs. However on the day of the party 14 kids showed up and we were told that they don’t have any hot dogs for us, they cut the pizza into smaller slices so more can be shared. That’s still disappointing I think some of the kids didn’t have enough. Also I thought the party leader was supposed to organize the kids do some games, but she was just there telling them where they could play and the kids were on their own.
Fantastic experience: A great place that offers a range of classes depending on age and ability. Knowledgeable, friendly staff who really care about the kids. Classes not only focus on gymnastics skills but strength and conditioning. Its common for kids to be here 2, 3 times a week or even more. It's a wonderful environment.
Hi Hartley, Thanks for your kind words! We will pass your comments on to our staff.
Positive experience: I absolutely loved their preschool program, but was really disappointed with the youth class I recently tried out for my son. His recreational class was squeezed into tiny bits of the gym between all the important competitive training that was going on. The class was doing different things 95% on the floor in a kind of half hazard way with a young instructor who was not engaging their attention well. This is not worth $450 a term. Aviva will also not refund you the money If it doesn’t work out, even directly after the first class
Hi Bryn, We are sorry to hear about your disappointment with the Youth class you withdrew from. As a management team, we try our best to ensure both the lesson plans and instructors are as engaging as possible. There is always room for improvement as it seems this class did meet the standards you experienced with our preschool program. As per our refund policy, we offered you an 80% refund or 100% credit. We hope you will consider using the credit towards a future program but if you would prefer to take the 80% refund please let us know. We try to be as transparent as possible about our refund policy by linking to it from the front page of our website and requiring all users to agree to the policy when registering. We also offer free one day trials for any class which has room in it.
Fantastic experience: My niece is simply in love with this place, the gymnastics instructor and the lessons shes learning. I highly recommend to anyone looking to take kids!
Hi Jamie, thanks so much for your kind words. We will pass this on to her coach.
Negative experience: good facilities but not teachers. most teachers are not motivated. they don't care children just watching them!! + looks too messy.
Hi Ebrahim, Thanks very much for your feedback. We would like start by apologizing for the mess in the gym. This weekend we replaced all the foam in our foam pit. Unfortunately, the old foam could not be picked up by the recycling company until tomorrow afternoon and must be stored in the gym until then. We also appreciate your comments regarding the motivation of our staff. A supervisor will be following up with all of the staff at the end of their shifts today. If you would like to discuss this further, please don't hesitate to contact us. Sincerely, Club Aviva Management
Negative experience: Apparently only one parent can be on their main email list. My daughter's father and I are not together, but Club Aviva has him as their parent contact. I have been trying since Sept. to be added along with my ex, but have been continually told it isn't possible. My child who attends Club Aviva lives mainly with ME. I have received some email but I have missed some important communication because of not being on their main list I guess. I asked about 2 months ago to be contacted by the owner Vivian Symington to discuss this and so far to my knowledge have not been contacted. Club Aviva you need to fix this.
Hi Genipher, Thanks for your review. I look after the websites and registration system and this is the first I have heard of this issue. It took all of 30 seconds to add a second email input to the registration system so if you contact us tomorrow between 9 am and 5 pm we can add your email to the account. With regards to your request to speak with the owner. Although Vivien is very involved in the day-to-day operations of the business, she is not the best person to talk to for many specific requests such as this one. We have also had many phone calls demanding to speak with the owner that are fraudulent or malicious in nature. For this reason we ask that any requests which can't be resolved by our front desk staff or coaches be directed to Management as the whole management team (including Vivien) meets each week. Thanks for getting in touch with us. Hopefully this response deserves better than 2 stars.
Positive experience: Been going for a few years. Great facilities. Awesome experience with staff. Owner is hands on.
Thanks for your kind words. We are always working to improve the facilities and have a few projects planned over the summer that will help us serve our customers better.
Positive experience: Kids love it, nice place for winter kids party, a bit feet smelly though
Fantastic experience: WOW. There are lots of different business owners out there. These are the type of owners who care and respect their customer. 1. The place is CLEAN !!! 2. The place is WARM !!! 3. The owners care A LOT This is our 3rd place and we are staying for many years if everything remains the same or better. Look at my other reviews, it takes a lot to make me respect a business. If you think about signing up for gymnastics my only concern is it might get to busy because of the great service hehehe. Oh oh oh. Great teacher to student ratio.
Fantastic experience: I give this place a 5/5 for the coordination effort, kindness and hard working staff for birthday parties but the lack of recycling, everything going into one garbage bag really shocks me. Again great staff but please change that one thing. My daughter’s party was great. Thanks
Fantastic experience: Love this place. Gymnastics, rock climbing, dancing, great place for the whole family.
Glad to hear! Thanks for your support. Hopefully we'll see you again soon.
Fantastic experience: Great summer camp for my son!
Thanks Tony! We're glad to hear your son enjoyed the summer camp.
Positive experience: This place is great. The only thing I don't like is the candy machine in the lobby. I can only imagine how many battles parents have had with their kids. Candy vending machines don't belong in a gymnastics gym.
Fantastic experience: I am a competitive gymnast and this gym improved me so much that's how I won my gold medal
Fantastic experience: My son has just taken gymnastics classes here and we have been really impressed. His teacher was very kind and encouraging and made the lessons so much fun. Over the weeks he has learnt many new skills and his self confidence has really grown. I will definitely be signing him up for more lessons!
Fantastic experience: My tumbling improved significantly since starting classes here. Excellent facility and friendly staff!
Positive experience: This is the 2nd year in a row that our daughter (now 7) has had her birthday party at Club Aviva. She and her friends all had a great time together. As a parent I was impressed with the helpful and friendly staff who take care of the set up and take down of the party room. They make it super easy for the parents. I had brought some decorations and they even put them up for me! The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I feel we could use an extra 15 minutes of both play time and in the party room but otherwise it's a pretty great set up.
Thanks for the feedback Karen! Our goal is to make it as easy and relaxing as possible for the parents so they can enjoy the party as much as their children. We have considered extending the length of our parties but can't think of a way to do so without making the scheduling super confusing! With 2 hour long parties we've worked the schedule out so a party starts every 20 min and we always know which room it will be in based on the start time of the party. Parties starting on the :00 go into Room 1, on the :20 go into Room 2, and on the :40 go into Room 3.
Fantastic experience: Great location and friendly staff! Lessons are reasonbly priced and coaches are helpful. In my personal experience, their tumbling class help me improve in just few lessons. 10/10 would recommend.
Fantastic experience: Such a fun class and I have learned so much! My tumbling has definitely improved a lot, and I have been recommending all my friends to take the tumbling class here. Nice facility and coaches too :)
Fantastic experience: My daughter (4.5years) took classes at another local gym for 2 years but was getting tired of doing the same "play stations" (her words) over and over again. She wanted to progress and start to learn "real tricks". She said she would rather just do dance classes, but was teaching herself how to do cartwheels at home so we decided to try Club Aviva and enroll her in the Petite Pre-Elite class for the summer. She LOVES it. She comes home wanting to practice pointing her toes and walks around the house like a gymnast. When asked what she wanted for her birthday she replied "to be able to go to Club Aviva every day!" Her coach Innocent, does an incredible job correcting kids when they are doing something wrong, but doing it in a fun way that makes them laugh. She says he is the funniest man she knows-and yet after 3 weeks you can already see the improvement in her form. I couldn't be happier with our decision to switch to Club Aviva. We have now enrolled our son in parent and tot gymnastics in the fall here as well!
Thanks for your kind words and glad your daughter is enjoying her PPE class! We'll be sure to pass on your feedback to Coach Innocent. You can let your daughter know that we agree with her assessment, Innocent is one of the funniest people we know as well.
Fantastic experience: My kids have been in classes at Club Aviva since they were 18 months old. The teachers have been fabulous and progress the children appropriately to challenge them but not intimidate them. Birthday parties at Club Aviva have also been their favourites. We love them and will continue to take classes there even though there are other clubs closer to us.
Positive experience: Club Aviva as a fun amazing place filled with adventure for your young ones. Club Aviva is also an amazing place to celebrate fun birthdays.
