Gym on Plains

Fantastic experience: Really an excellent run gym all around. Some of the highlights are how clean the facility is, it is cleaned every day. This includes all the washrooms, change rooms, locker area and shower. I love how it is 24 hours and can go 24/7. There truly is an almost private workout experience since there is a membership cap and rarely it is busy. It can get moderately busy at around 5 PM on weekdays. The equipment is all very good and has everything. It would be nice if there was a free-weight squat rack, and an ab machine. Although the smith machine and bidirectional smith machine is very good. I also liked how a membership is 18+ as well And all members are mature, responsible and friendly. Cosmo does an excellent job maintaining and running the gym. It would be nice if there was an occasional guest pass system.

Fantastic experience: Been a member since last year. Location is great, plenty of parking. The gym has a nice vibe to it. It's well designed and laid out, with thoughtful things like the locker lay out, cell phone chargers etc. Members are a good mix of ages and are respectful of others and any gym rules. Wifi works well all the time. It never seems too busy and I can usually do my routines in the order I want to. Equipment is well maintained and the gym is immaculately clean. Owner is a great guy. I have been going to gyms for a long time and this is one of the best. I highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of Gym on Plains (GOP) almost since the inception. There are so many things to like about this facility it is hard to list them all. But I will give it a shot. First off is the location. GOP is situated in a relatively new, large condo complex in the heart of Burlington. It is easily accessible from the 403 or Plains road and there is ample FREE parking which is so convenient. Nothing takes the wind out of desire to get a workout in than circling around and around looking for an empty parking space that can happen at some of the downtown competitor gyms. (I speak from experience) The facility itself is a 24 hr, 365 day gym. GoP is modern, clean and spacious but has a much warmer feel than those large warehouse style gyms. Day lockers are available and stunningly clean change rooms and showers are also on site. The equipment is top notch! The latest equipment is the norm in this gym. New equipment arrives routinely and the existing equipment is extremely well maintained and in fact almost looks brand new. This is a testament to the hardwork and dedication put in by the owner Cosmo and his team. They obviously take pride in this property and it shows. Worn pads are quickly replaced, loose bolts tightened and there is never so much as a burned out light bulb in this facility. The atmosphere in the gym can only be described as welcoming. All body types, shapes, abilities are welcome and each member is supportive and will happily spot someone, show them how to use a new piece of equipment etc. But at the same time if you just want to come in, put your headphones on and get your workout in, no one will bug you. Membership is capped so while there are the occasional busy times, for the most part, you can always access the equipment you want. Perhaps most valuable is that as a member of GOP, Cosmo truly values your feedback. There is a communtiy chalkboard that regularly has member feedback on it, that Cosmo and team act on. It can be as simple as music suggestions, to requests for new equipment. There is honestly so many positives of this gym, convenient, clean, well-equipped, limited membership, open to feedback. What more could you ask for?

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member since February 2023 after leaving Crunch Fitness. Yes, the monthly rate is more, but the security, cleanliness, 24/7 accessibility, filtered water, new equipment, and overall aesthetics of this gym are unmatched. Good vibes here and by far my favourite gym I’ve ever been to. I no longer live in the neighbourhood but will drive 15 minutes out of my way just to come here. It’s worth it!

Fantastic experience: As a +50 yr old fitness buff I’ve belonged to several clubs and different types of gyms. I really like GOP for a few reasons: 1) super clean, great well maintained machines - lots of places fail at this. 2) simple … 7/24, no towels, no classes, Just people who are working out. 3) there is a maximum # of members … so never feels overwhelming. The owner is in the facility a lot and I’ve personally nudged him to fix something or get better internet - and Bang! He gets it fixed. I used to belong to a membership across the street and for me there s no comparison.

Fantastic experience: It's probably a mind changing experience. Yes, it is a relatively smaller gym, but the experience is amazing. The gym has a limited number of memberships, so it is never crowded, and you will never need to take turns on equipment or wait for someone to finish. The gym is spotless, always very clean, and well equipped. The equipment is very well maintained, and this includes showers, washrooms, and lockers. The owner is such a wonderful and friendly guy, making the whole experience even better. It's worth every penny.

Fantastic experience: The gym on planes is the best gym I've ever been to the owner. Cosmo is a very friendly guy and will do anything to help anyone out. It's open 24 hours a day which makes it great for me. I just dropped a lot of weight and a lot of muscle tone and now I'm working on my way back to good health and the muscles are coming back. Fantastic experience: I've been a member for 6 months, a great gym, all the equipment I need in perfect order, clean, never busy in evening hours I usually go and 24x7 gives you all the freedom you want. Cosmo, the owner, is very friendly. Once, I noticed the shoe rack space was running out (members leave their sneakers in the gym), and shortly, extra racks were installed. He also installed phone charging stations recently to make experience even better. Thank you, Cosmo!

The people are terrific and friendly, and a great place for all levels of fitness and aspirations. It’s clean and well maintained, and the gym equipment is always working properly. The owner takes a lot of care in maintaining the facility. I think it has everything you really need in a gym, and isn’t too big and not too small. I never feel that being rushed off equipment. Finally the owner takes great pride in the gym. He’s there pretty much every single day and is friendly to everyone. Really love GOP!

Negative experience: I did go there and consider signing up contrary to this response saying I have never been. I did not feel the owner was professional so never ended up signing up.

Fantastic experience: Was a member back in 2016 and recently joined again this past Sept., after moving back to Burlington. You definitely get the boutique gym experience at Gym On Plains. It's always impeccably clean, the equipment is in tip top shape and it's never crowded. You're rarely having to wait for a machine. Members of this gym respect the space and it's always a pleasure chatting with Cosmo (owner) who truly takes pride in providing a clean, modern and safe space to workout. He's always looking for ways to improve the space and replaces parts of machines once they start to wear out. I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a no hassle, super clean and beautiful gym in Burlington.

Fantastic experience: This gym has been amazing to use, the facility is clean and the equipment is in excellent condition. I've always found the staff here to be friendly / welcoming and the members are courteous, there is a real pride in ownership and a friendliness that comes with a small gym. Sadly though, during the current times I have made the decision to leave the gym and continue with home workouts for the time being. Once the time comes I will undoubtedly be back at this facility.

Fantastic experience: Can’t say enough great things about this gym in these unprecedented times . The Gym on Plains cares about its customers and treats you with respect ! This gym is spotless , and members are very respectful of your personal space as well as cleaning each piece of equipment after their use . It’s like having your own personal gym with high end equipment at a very inexpensive fee . I’ve never had an issue of payments coming out of my account like other large franchises ... in fact I didn’t even have to call in when all the fitness centers first had to close down due to Covid .. not one payment came out This is a 24 hour gym , well equipped and spotless and all the members are very respectful. As a resident of Burlington let’s support all our local businesses..and a big thank you to the owners for going over and above to keep this facility clean and safe !

Negative experience: New manager. :( It's not the same. Used to be family run. I was also billed while my account was on hold. I asked to cancel March 16th but a charge went through accidentally on March 20th after the gym had closed for phase 1 of the pandemic. I agreed with Ms. Politano that since I loved the gym so much she could just keep that as an incentive for when I called to sign up again. We were told we could do that until we were comfortable to return (pandemic) and to call. This new manager restarted all of our memberships, without any notification. He applied that charge from March to August (didn't know so I didn't go) and then billed me for September as well. When I called to complain he employed sleezy gym language. I'm going to miss my beautiful gym but I feel like I am taken advantage of during a pandemic, and as long as Jovan is there I'm not comfortable returning. If you ever change management back to the family-friendly-gym-I-brag-about kind I'll gladly reconsider. update: Manager called me back - not to offer a refund but to pretend we hadn't spoken. He pretended to be offended when I told him he stole my money, refused to put me through to the owner and said I was blackmailing HIM because I have said I won't go back until he is fired. He is taking advantage of loyal customers during a pandemic and then feigns the victim because a woman got mad at him. To all the people that have heard me rave about this place please now avoid it at all costs.

Negative experience: Written "Business closed on weekends and evenings after 18:00" (so, no need for new customers outside of 'their' business hours). Went on work hours, and they didn't want/offer to sell me one (1) month (I'm only here 4 weeks) - didn't even make a proposal. Staff (and owner - see below) have no appetite to sell - my money is not good for them. Although the gym is nice, I'm not going back where my business is not wanted. Good luck with the socialist/lazy business model.

Fantastic experience: My go to gym. Always spotless and never crowded due to limited membership. I have worked out all my adult life and as a result have been a member of many gyms. None can compare to the excellent quality and diversity of the equipment of GOP. By not having the free weights that heavy lifters like, who never seem to replace anything where it belongs, this gym is always well organized and neat. Great members and training staff too.
