Negative experience: Too bad there's no zero stars lol. I had a friend drag me here for a workout who's a black card member and what a waste of time! Way too many kids just hanging out texting on their phones. So unless you're newbie to the gym save yourself the headache and join a gym that has a proper bench press, squat rack and freeweights!! I understand this is a somewhat new facility so I don't understand why there's so many broken pcs of equipment? But I guess all people see is $15 a month and don't really care about how useless the gym is. I wonder how difficult the membership is to get out of for the people that got suckered into joining?

Negative experience: This gym is a disaster, a tire fire in a dumpster full of excrement. Maintenance is non existent. There are more treadmills broken than there are functional ones. Staff is largely indifferent except for John who works nights. Management is indifferent. Do yourself a favour. Don’t join. Spend a little more $ elsewhere, you’ll be much happier.

Negative experience: The staff is quite friendly here, unfortunately that’s the only plus side I found with this location. I found there is not any good spaces to put a mat down if you wanted to, it also appears they do not offer any group classes (or at least none I could find). My huge red flag is that the water fountain has been broken for months, and the past week I’ve been going I’ve also noticed they do not have ANY drinks to sell. This is especially frustrating since with the black card membership you are supposed to get 50% off all beverages, but there are no beverages in sight. On that note the black card seems is not worth it at this location unless you’re looking for a tan or massage chair, they do not have total body enhancement but on the website there is no mention of it not being at this location.

Negative experience: Somebody’s gotta fix these machines

Fantastic experience: This gym is not as bad as some reviews may make it out to be, to be fair maybe more machines were down 3 months ago but this still the best gym in Fort Erie staff has been cool also, great amenities and not very busy at all always more than enough benches, weights and machines.

Positive experience: Not a crowded place. Right choice for people who prefer a less crowded gym and lesser wait times. Few machines are temporarily out of service, hope they fix it soon.

Negative experience: I have been a member of Planet Fitmess in Fort Erie only for a short while. Although spacious enough, there are far too many cardio machines, and few too other kinds of equipment, and the stuff they do have, it's consistently broken down for long periods of time with no repair. When I was a member of GoodLife I'm St. Catharines, I felt like they actually cared about me. They treated everyone like family. They maintained eye contact. Their body posture was warm, open, and welcoming. Here, you have a bunch of young kids who lack customer service skills, sit on counter tops, and seemingly do their best to avoid people coming in. It's not the same feeling. Then, there are so many teenagers that come in large groups taking over equipment, and while doing so, they stand there talking the entire time. The staff do nothing. If I could afford to go to another gym today, I would, even if I had to drive further. I'm very disappointed with my overall experience here.

Negative experience: Where do I start, this gym is more a zoo then a gym, if you want to workout planet fitness is not the gym for you, there will be high school kids running around and fooling around like it is a playground, these high school kids if they are not running around will be sitting at machines doing nothing for the whole time you are there not to mention that there are only 1-2 of these machines and half of the time they are broken, also this gym is filthy!! There is garbage and dust all over the place, same goes with the weights they are out of order on the racks if they are even on them and not on the ground. Dumbbells only go up to 75lbs!! More cardio than workout machines and only smith presses!! I will be cancelling my membership and going to LA Fitness a gym that I will be giving 5 stars, no complaints with staff besides the fact that they don’t work. I hope this review helps you make your decision.

Positive experience: Member and staff here are amazing. My only concern is the rate at which I'm seeing equipment out of order or broken. My last trip, even the water fountain was broken.

Negative experience: As per other comments machines not working not enough staff and there has been no trainer or classes for months

Negative experience: Good price but maintenance at this facility is pure garbage. Machines are constantly broken or just functioning poorly and the staff does not give a freak about keeping the gym clean. For example all of the dumbbells in the rack are completely mismatched. Also there was 4 pairs of dumbbells just on the ground for over an hour and no staff came to tidy it up.

Fantastic experience: The staff here is amazing! Equipment breaks alot and customers often come in to complain about memberships. I have witnessed them be yelled and screamed at by very ignorant people and they always remain empathetic and professional. The employees here are what get the 5 star rating!!

Negative experience: I am an immigrant of 20 years. The gym staff asked me that my English pronunciation was different from mine, so what language do you use? What country are you from? and made racist remarks. Customer service training is desperately needed.

Positive experience: Good feel and nice atmosphere my only problem is the person who you can sit down with and plan a routine is only thereduring regular working hours so anyone who works 9-5 cannot see them unless they take time off work

Negative experience: Although they're gonna say "it's written somewhere" but this place doesn't allow you to downgrade your membership directly. You have to cancel it and pay the 50 dollars thing again in order to start a new lower grade one. Stupid rule and definitely don't go for the larger package, not worth it.

Positive experience: For the most part my experience at PF has been wonderful. The after school crowd is starting to become a fairly big deterrent though; tripping over cell phone cords plugged into the walls everywhere and not being able to use certain machines at all because groups of 5 or more are goofing off and hanging out around most of the free weights/smith machines while only one person works out is really frustrating. Staff actively monitoring what’s going on and making sure machines are getting cleaned between members would be a nice change.

Positive experience: I've been a member of this gym since day one. My initial review on week one was a 5 star review, its now a 3. The staff are excellent here and I have no complaints with them. The 3 is for all the new equipment that does work. This gym clearly has maintenance issues that many of the latest reviews are speaking to. Currently, - there are multiple machines that have been out of order for months, -the tv programming, nobody at the gym knows how to operate them so we are stuck with the same 3 channels day after day on 13 TV's, -for weeks the water fountain did not work, -for about 4 months one of two massage chairs were out of order, -for about a month the family changeroom was out of order, -when the gym first opened the hot water in the men's changeroom was luke warm at best, this went on for weeks, -one shower door in the men's room sounds awful and may fall off, -I'm sure I've missed things... I have no idea where the maintenance people are for this gym, can't even guess what part of Canada or the USA they may come from. There are many things here that need fixed. It seems there is no will/incentive on the owners to make the repairs. As this is the best priced gym in Fort Erie, members will likely continue to support this gym through all the maintenance issues. Hopefully this post inspires a response from the owners and a will to hire a maintenance person.

Negative experience: Takes months to repair broken equipment! Two of three Smith machines out of service. Seated Leg Curl, Assisted Pull-Up/Dip also down for months!

Positive experience: I really do enjoy this gym and the cost is reasonable, staff are friendly, and the place is kept clean. My only complaints, or constructive criticism is that staff really need to clamp down on people just hanging out and sitting at equipment, and they need to get some more free weight options like a bench press, and bars.

Negative experience: I returned back after months away and I’m surprised to see there’s multiple pieces of equipment out of order, no running water for drinking (which should be dealt with first in my opinion) seems like a safety issue to not have drinking water at a gym, the wheelchair accessible bathroom is also out of order… The gym is only a year old so it sucks to see this happening.

Negative experience: Note to head office: Nothing works anymore. Most of the desk staff are awesome and the members are awesome. This place is being managed to the point where I am losing many gym friends to other gyms. I hope head office can figure something out soon. I have been a gym rat for over 40 years and have found that making the gym part of my social life makes it much easier to get to the gym when I do not want to push my broken old body hard anymore. The business model of Planet Fitness matched those goals and I over looked the fact that the gym does not cater to more advanced training. I have been able to drag my old A$$ to the gym almost seven days a week since I joined in August and have regained 18 pounds, 16 of it muscle, and I owe that inspiration to the staff and the kind people that work out at this gym. It is by far the best gym family I have ever had. The ratings you were getting are because of your local staff and the members have been tolerant of the mismanagement of head office. Your operations management need to understand that the current op is not working and you need to decentralise your maintenance. Numerous members have offered to repair issues in their purview because they can see how this is demoralising staff. The staff at the Fort Erie gym are becoming demoralised due to how your mismanagement is reflecting negatively on the staff. The body language is further manifesting itself since you do not provide stools behind the desk for your staff, as standing for prolonged periods increases the probability of work place injuries and from an occupational health and safety perspective you should be aware of this fact. There is seldom a time were members are not at the front desk chatting socially with your staff. Give them a couple bar stools or perhaps bar stools for both staff and members. If this is a strain on your budget I am sure the members would pitch in to buy them as Christmas Presents to thank your staff for their kindness. With respect to your business model to exclude a certain sector of the population in those that work out seriously; is this not somewhat hypocritical? Further those that are knowledgeable about working out are happy to share advice with others, as others were kind enough to share it with us. Your personal trainer is knowledgeable and very outgoing. His kindness sets the tone for the serious body builders, and is a good role model for both the beginner and the advanced. Now that your brand is established, adding a real bench and expanding the free weight area will only increase your market share. Removing a few treadmills or other cardio machines that are never used to capacity just makes good business sense. Plus the ROI on a bench that has a limited fixed cost and virtually zero variable cost relative to more complex machinery only makes sense since there is more demand for the free weight section than the cardio. You already have a Pareto distribution where 85% of your clientele are using the 15% in the free weights by area. It is only a matter of time until we lose part of our gym family to gyms that will better cater to their needs, so visit this gym and then revisit your business model. RIM held true to their business model to make the best cell phone. They saw market share fall from 43% down to 5.9% in 2 years and could never recover, but the last blackberry sold can take pride that it was the still the best phone nobody wanted. Ford was able to regain market share when they abandoned the business model that the customer can have any colour car he wants as long as it is black, once the industry realised that women (she) made that buying decision and liked pretty colours. You have the pretty colours, now remember you are a gym.

Fantastic experience: Been attending here since I relocated to be closer to my business in Fort Erie and had to change fitness establishments. Was never to fond of the idea of attending a generic Planet Fitness, however the staff here do an excellent job of being extremely kind, friendly, informative and making you feel welcomed and keeping it absolutely spotless clean. I would drink a protein shake off the ground with a straw here without too much worry, if I'm being forthright. I can understand some people's frustrations with the payment options & sign up, unfortunately its 2023 and that's just the way it is often enough. Price is reasonable for what's there and at least for me, for being so central. I won't call it a critique, but the only thing I'd love to change is being open Friday & Saturday 24hrs as well. Perhaps just a staffing issue for the time being, however will continue attending here regardless. Thanks Fort Erie Planet Fitness Team

Fantastic experience: Love Planet Fitness. Absolutely amazing staffs, always clean, tons of machines to go on , NO WAITING LIST ON MACHINES. Super duper clean. Love their spa. Perfect place to have in town.

Positive experience: Relatively clean with decent hours, nice staff and a relaxed atmosphere, but they massively struggle with any kind of maintenance. Close to half the treadmills appear to be permanently out of commission, while certain weight machines have not worked for 6 months or more, like one of the two hamstring curl machines. In general, they don't have all the weight training equipment I'd like and there's no dedicated area for stretching and mat work, but there's still a fair range of (working) weight machines & free weights available, so I can usually use the ones I want. The hydro massage chairs in the black card spa are still amazing though, and the change rooms are good.

Negative experience: Guess what, if you want to downgrade your membership you need to pay the annual fees again. Makes no sense,i already paid my annual fees and wanted to downgrade it to lower plan as i dont use most of the perks. I was never informed about this while signing. Disappointed , this is not in good faith . BEWARE while signing your contract.

Fantastic experience: I have never been a "gym person" before, but I absolutely love it here! It really is a "no judgement" zone, with people of all fitness levels doing their thing. Everyone is really friendly and the staff is awesome and very knowledgeable & helpful. I went from avoiding gyms at all costs to going here every single day. The only downside to this location is that the owners treat it like a red-headed stepchild, often ignoring requests to repair machines or restock supplies. I still highly recommend though, because the staff make the best of it

Positive experience: The new planet fitness has a warm welcome from me. New machines are nice...place is new, so pretty clean for now. However, the space is too small for the number of machines. You are in very close proximity of other people on the treadmills and weight machines. Don't bother to do the upgrade. There are only two massage chairs and hydro bed and you have to book ahead. Very inconvenient and always booked. Cheers!

Positive experience: Lost 2 stars for "wellness pod" and the hydro massages. To be clear, the gym portion is fantastic and covers what most need for a great workout. It's very clean, and the staff are very helpful and friendly. I would suggest looking into a membership as it's the only real gym of its kind in the area. That being said; The wellness pod is an uncomfortable reclined chair like the hydro massages, with a TV screen suspended about a foot and a half in front of your face, now I understand the concept, but the screen isn't even a uhd (4 or 8k screen) so it's very grainy, the sound from the hydro chairs echos in the room and in general it's very unwelcoming and not very relaxing. It does feature a heated seat option and fragrances you can activate that are relative to the landscapes. To be honest, the room would have been better off being a sauna, but they would have to definitely improve the insulation between the room and the hydro massage before anything else.. They hydro massages.. Great concept, poor execution. For context, these are reclined chairs that have water jets that go along your back, neck, and legs to give a massage. Well, they aren't very effective because you're "sitting" in them, so your weight is biased to your behind. And not evenly distributed across your whole back, legs, and neck like it would be if you were laying down. These should be water tables, which are like massage tables, so youre facing down, then a cover goes over your back and the jets spray down and give you a real massage with even pressure to your whole body.

Fantastic experience: If your only personality trait is going to the gym then this location may not be for you. Not for the "muscle bros" or gym rats. No deadlift racks, free barbells etc. Has all the essentials and nice amenities to get a good workout in locally.

Fantastic experience: Very clean, friendly staff. Hours are better than what I thought. The hours should be updated to avoid confusion on the app/website and on maps. I was told last week, Sunday 6am until Friday 10pm, Saturday 6am until 10pm.

Negative experience: Very disappointed that the amenities are not the same as the rest. I pay for the the premium package to go use the infrared standing unit (wellness machine) and they don't have it. That's not right. False marketing!!!

Fantastic experience: Fort Erie definitely needed this! They really did a great job! If I had to make any recommendations it would be to streamline the check in process for the Black Card amenities. It feels a bit disorganized as far as that goes. It would also be nice to have a little more room to grab a mat and some weights and find a spot somewhere. Often times I've ended up having to do that in awkward places feeling like I'm in the way. Plenty of machines, very clean locker rooms and definitely a great value! Curious if they will be doing any classes here as the app only shows new member orientation right now. Great job PF!

Positive experience: Fort Erie desperately needed a gym like this. it’s a Fantastic gym!! Overall I’m thrilled that this gym has been put here. Brand new equipment, tons and tons of machines! They really invested into this gym! They have 3 smith machines!!! I would’ve given 5 stars but It lacks a few things I thought were standard like a bench press and squat rack for some reason. It could have had a sauna as well but they decided to put other things like a “ wellness pod.” All in all though it’s a great upgrade for the town of Fort Erie. It’s going to save me a lot of trips to world gym in Niagara Falls

Fantastic experience: They have every piece of workout equipment you will ever need and so much more including battle ropes! They have a room fully dedicated (with a timer) to 30 min workouts on machines. The locker rooms are spacious and modern with doors to shower stalls. Don't have a lock? No problem. There are smaller lockers on the wall in the gym that have built in combination locks. For Black Card members, they have various types of massage chairs and tanning beds. And even though there is no pool, it is much more affordable than any gym nearby! Stop in today for a tour.
