Negative experience: It's a nice clean place with good instructors, I was planning on joining, but why isn't there men only sessions, women have women only sessions, i don't understand why women want to mix with men then complain during the sparing that the men are stronger, women have no right to complain if there's already a women only sessions available, women go to the men sessions to feel special

Fantastic experience: Visited this gym as I was visiting in Ottawa. I train at a gb in BC and this one was equally as friendly and hospitable. Safe rolls, good instruction and a clean facility.

Fantastic experience: When I joined this gym I had become a divorce single mother, grieving the traumatic death of my mother to pancreatic cancer and I found myself in a domestic abuse relationship. I have a very big personality and couldn't believe this happened to me. I finally saw how women end up trapped like this, no one to talk to or go. It starts off little and you make excuses for it and then it becomes so big you think you can't live or survive without them. I did manage to get away but I was in pieces and Gracie Barra Ottawa put me back together, made me realize my worth. They brought me back to life!! I could not have done this anywhere else, the woman's only community in this gym is unmatched, you will never find a core that builds you up like this one. I am building myself up and I am teaching my daughter what real strength and power is by leading the way for her, here at own second home. Because this gym is more than a gym it's a family!

Fantastic experience: Amazing gym for real. I practice muay thai here and honestly...Best service. The atmosphere is just perfect in terms of the instructors and other people there. And I've taken a look at a few gyms in the city. Nothing really compares. One of the owners (Mark Holst) literally fought in the UFC and teaches!! What an opportunity. Their fight team is also very successful and known in Ontario and internationally. Even with a fierce team, there is a carefor family. Theres women and children's classes, etc. And that's just on the muay thai side. I highly recommend!!

Negative experience: Signed up for a trial once and was contacted multiple times by call & text. How many times do you need confirmation? Showed up a little late to the trial class and was denied entry. Front desk needs training. Complete waste of time.

Negative experience: Absolutely thief of a cancellation policy and terrible service. Gym is okay but once it’s time to cancel good luck my friends. Absolutely disappointing

Negative experience: Relentless phone calls, emails, and text messages. I gave my contact info once, but never completed any registration. I was contacted with multiple phone numbers despite unsubscribing. Fix your recruitment strategy, because this method is exhausting, annoying and a huge red flag to me personally.

Fantastic experience: If you’re looking to improve your fitness and perhaps some self defence, then Gracie Barra is the place for you. It has a welcoming atmosphere for every age and level of fitness and simply awesome trainers to encourage and inspire you. It’s actually addicting!!!

Fantastic experience: I'd like to personally thank Mark Holst for taking the time out of his busy schedule to meet with me to discuss endeavouring a fighting career. He's a kind gentleman with an open mind and is very transparent. Mark gave me great advice and suggested different approaches towards pursuing this journey. He's one of the most accomplished fighters/trainers out of the NCR. This location is fully equipped and very spacious, multiple changing rooms with available showers. You will find only the best martial artists training here. They have comp classes for professional athletes as well as various programs for casuals. Convenient location for Ottawa, they have a second location in Orleans run by a gentleman by the name of Pat. Also a good location (more family oriented). Looking forward to this chapter. Always train hard and be kind to others.

Fantastic experience: One of the best gyms to train at in Ottawa! This gym has everything you need, including high level BJJ, MMA and Muay Thai instructors. One of the instructors is actually a UFC vet, with an unbelievable amount of experience and knowledge. If you are looking for strength training, they also have a section in the back with all the weight lifting equipment you need. The owners all have your back and treat you like family. If you are looking to be part of a great community, make new friends, learn self defense, compete, get fit or just have fun, I highly recommend Gracie Barra Ottawa.

Fantastic experience: Been having the best time training here. Classes as well organized, challenging and leave me feeling great. Everyone has been super welcoming and the 30 minute strength training classes are upping my game in a new way. All the staff have been friendly and helpful. Feels great to be back in the gym with such a rad crew of people.

Negative experience: They told me on the phone before I joined that they were taking multiple precautions against covid, but when I went there I saw that they were WAY over capacity, no one wearing masks, etc. When I confronted them about it they simply said that "they couldn't tell me on the phone that they didn't follow any guidelines". I know of a handful of people that share a similar experience. I reported them to bylaw multiple times, not only because of my visit but also because they stayed open even during the really rigid lockdowns. Bylaw mentioned they were getting dozens of calls about it every week. Just thought that at least one of their reviews should warn people that they don't care about following any health guidelines.

Fantastic experience: If you are looking for a place to learn the basics of martial arts, then Gracie Barra is the right place for you. they have an amazing team of instructors and they genuinely care about the development of new students.

Negative experience: They're not adhering to the covid policy. Noone is being asked for proof of vaccination, no masks and definitely not 2 metres spacing!

Fantastic experience: Amazing atmosphere, I always have fun while I'm learning here. Professor Camron and Kru Mark are very skilled at Brizilian jujitsu and Muy Thai. I have always felt welcome by the crew and they take the time to teach me all the arts fundamentals. I highly recommend this gym for anyone Young or Old. They offer lots programs from wrestling to just weight lifting etc. Not just martial arts, that's why this gym is awesome. Very pleased with this gym and it deserves 5 star plus.

Fantastic experience: This is the best gym in town . I am so grateful to have found this place and to get to train and learn from incredible teachers . I have never felt so welcomed into a gym and can’t express how awesome and fun jiujitsu and muythai classes are, I love!

Negative experience: Do not attend this gym. The coaches don't watch you practice. They don't teach proper form after the basic movement to prevent injury. There higher level belts perform neck cranks and knee bars on lower level belts while the coaches are too busy talking to the front desk and taking selfies. By the way the belt training is not based on skill or performance rather the number of class you attend which they do not keep track of. In addition to hidden contract loops holes to prevent you from being able to leave with paying multiple weeks for training you won't receive and delay tactics to get more money out of you. Dont forget the body shaming. They also failed to follow covid class regulation. I dont have enough words to explain the gross safety violations this gym gave me thankfully ive only spent a few months recovering from a neck injury by the way when you read the contact there no way to extract compensation for the gross safety violations that cause injury. This gym is an unsafe scam dont attend.

Positive experience: I used to do Boxing & MMA very long time ago, and did not attent a GYM for almost 3 years. This place, environment, professors and the training itself are incredibly good. Unfortunately had to move from Ottawa. But be very carefull with the contract, as I was charged for 2 months even I attended just for 2 weeks. While signing up, I was told that I can use my membership at any GB around the world, that's why I signed up for a yearly package. However, when I moved to Toronto, the reality is that you can train at another GB location if you are just visiting, so I had to cancel my membership here, pay the penalty and sign up to a new location. Never ever purchasing a yearly package. But the team, and facility is #1.

Positive experience: I always have been drawn to martial arts. Somehow, I never allowed myself the opportunity to join until last year and it has tremendously been an amazing experience. The facility is well organized and clean. The coaches incorporate diversity content into their classes which makes it interesting and new every single time I join in. (+great seminars) Also from the get go, I’ve been well received by all the people that work and train at this facility. They are always there to help out if needed. For the ladies out there that want to learn Muay Thai and BJJ but are a bit shy or anxious to start, this place has a women’s class only. Not only will it boost your confidence but you’ll be joining a badass team;) Overall it’s a safe, fun, positive environment for everyone to join but above all they are dedicated to teach and see your development improve during your time at Gracie Barra.

Fantastic experience: I cannot speak more highly of Gracie Barra Ottawa. Whether you are experienced or a beginner like me I highly recommend you check this place out. I was very nervous about starting BJJ because it is so outside of my comfort zone but from the moment I walked in I was treated with nothing but kindness and respect. The facility itself is absolutely top notch. It is modern, spacious and CLEAN. From my experience I can say that the coaching is in-depth, at my pace and I never leave with anything but excitement for my next session. Fantastic experience: I love this gym! Nick and Mark are so friendly and knowledgeable about BJJ, Muay Thai and MMA. I always feel welcomed and safe when I train there. It doesn't matter if you have a beginner or an advanced level, you always learn in a safe, friendly and respectful environment. I like the lunch hour session. I can take a shower and be back to work for the afternoon and my workout is done. This gym has beautiful showers, clean toilet and a lot of space to roll or ht the pads. There is also a regular gym in the back with free weight, cardio machine and dumbbell weights. Man, I love this place!
