Fantastic experience: I remember this gym! I loved it. It was small but big enough to get everything that I needed in a workout. I haven't been in the city in quite a long time, but if I were to ever go back there again someday, that is definitely one place that I would want to see again.

Negative experience: So I'll preface this by saying I am not a member at the gym. But did have an experience with the owner yesterday that was frankly, disgusting. My girlfriend went in to cancel her membership, her and I had just moved in together and we have a full gym in our building. We went in because she was told on the phone that she has to cancel in person, that's all that was said. Nothing more. We stop in on our downtown walk to cancel and start chatting with a young lady who says that the manager just has to sign off on it. The manager (come to find out he's the owner) kept us waiting for at least 15-20 minutes while he was "busy" on the phone. One I said "we'll be back after" his conversation ended and he came over. He explained that she was subject to a 30 day notice on her cancellation. When she said "I spoke to someone on the phone today about cancelling and they didn't say anything about that." His response? "Well, you spoke to me, and I didn't NOT say anything about it either" ... we both said that this was a pretty convenient answer... he then wanted to show us our contract to "educate us" and was incredibly rude. It ended up with him and I mouthing off to eachother after the contract was cancelled. He told me that we shouldn't be so rude and that we should learn to treat people nicer. My advice to folks is stay as far away as possible. This is a "small business" in sheep's clothing that uses the same bullying and contract tactics that goodlife and every other place uses to bully you into staying. Telling my girlfriend that she can still "walk from the water to the gym" isn't customer service and very transparently shows your lack of clarity on how customer retention works. The irony is that I was actually asking the lady previously about the physiotherapist they had on site for my own interests. Steve scared two folks away with one experience. Ultimately, Steve - you looked like a toddler throwing a hissy fit because we cancelled her contract, you made her feel uncomfortable and were beyond rude. If your members are leaving, maybe take a look at your "excellent" people skills. Cheers.

Negative experience: I signed up for a promotion they had where it was start 30 days free and so on and so forth, I do not remember the rest. I never went due to my own motivation. The issue is that canceling my membership has become a nightmare. I went in, canceled, and they continued to try to charge my credit card. They seem unorganized, confused and poorly documented. I called and the manager and since have spoken to several other "employees" they said they would cancel, I have many emails back and forth with them where I say I no longer want you to charge my card and I canceled my membership, I never even went! I had to change me CC in order for them to stop. Well its has been 2 years and now they have hired "Sugar Law" to represent them. I am unsure if it is a law firm or debt collector. According to them I owe $500 + plus of membership fees, for a something I never once used. They harass people to join and pay. Please do not go here! It has become a 2 year nightmare for me and now apparently a legal issue. The owner has replied they did not hear from me since may 2019 after I had requested cancelation. Please see attached picture of correspondence.

Beatriz, we mean no harm! We’ve been trying like crazy to reach out to you because there was no cancelation on file. Your account declined 6 months in a row and every month we reached out and got no where! I literally have a log sheet of over 15 attempts to reach you with no reply. We just gave up! Email me back at [email protected] or call at 416-260-9911 and we’ll clean up your account and void all the months but one. We just never got an email or a call back since May 2019 when you said you’d be in shortly. Let’s take care of this.

Fantastic experience: I've been working out with Cardio-Go for a couple of years now. Their bootcamp is amazing and trainers top notch - friendly, welcoming, professional, talented. My experience with Cardio-Go's classes has been great on both personal and corporate side, as I also work with them to provide our staff with virtual wellness sessions. The recent addition of Tune-up Tuesdays to our wellness roster has been nothing short of a success, as expressed by all attendees. Keep up the great work, Cardio-Go! #supportlocal

Fantastic experience: The staff and trainers really show that they care about you and your fitness journey. I have been able to move from a size 12 to 4/6 by working with Ashton personally at 145, in addition to occaionally going to group classes at the various locations. Even in the group classes, they are never overly packed and you still get individual attention.

Kristi Giambattista 5 years ago

Negative experience: The club had great teachers... they left cause they were clearly uncompensated with over capacity classes. Managers are rude, called to cancel my membership today and the owner answered and started yelling at me on the phone because he was offended I didn't want his virtual services (for the same price as in house classes) anymore. Super disappointed and shocked at how he handled the situation... would never go back or recommend to anyone. I tried to support a small business for the last couple of years and not go to to good life... but looks like after covid I will be going there from now on.

Kristi, firstly I want to apologize for not better supporting you on your call today. I’d like to do better to make you feel better about everything. Please ring me at our King West Desk at 416-913-9123 x4. I’d like to better support you. I’m sorry if you felt rudely treated. That’s not how I like to treat people and would like to leave things better with you. For what it’s worth our instructors ARE great. Most have been with us for years. Most who have moved on over the years have done so for personal growth reasons, and I wish and support them all.

Fantastic experience: Great location on King West with nice exposed brick. Beautiful studio to work out at. Memberships are a lot more reasonably priced than other gyms in the city and half as busy, which is amazing.

Jessica Yoo 5 years ago

Negative experience: Had a similar experience as some other members who wanted to cancel. After sending emails in April and July to cancel my membership they are still charging me for the month of August because they said I need to be active for 30 days before I can cancel. What kind of policy is that?!?! Never heard of this from any other gyms and not to mention I am pregnant and physically cannot join majority of the classes. I'm writing this after arguing on the phone with the CEO Steven...I'll be talking to my lawyer and credit card company to seek a full refund. This is not a bad review to the staff, they are great but turns out management and unethical policies sparked this review.

Cardio-Go @ 145 King Street
Cardio-Go @ 145 King Street

Jessica, as I politely explained in both an email and over the phone your membership was a month to month membership which only required one month’s notice. We closed down the gyms and the office during the provincial shut down, then once we opened you gave notice and I cancelled you at the end of the month. This is neither 1 star service nor is it unethical. This year has been tough. Please reconsider being hateful and delete this review.

Fantastic experience: I've been going here for almost 3 years now - love them! The instructors are great and staff is very helpful. Cardio-go offers a wide range of classes in the membership fees (and you can go to multiple locations) so I was able to try it all and continue going to the ones I love. I also use their clinic and they are fantastic! It charges my health insurance directly so I don't have to process reimbursement from the insurance company separately. Since COVID started, their communication plan was solid. They changed to virtual membership and took our feedback to ensure the shift to virtual is smooth for members. Steve, the owner, was especially great with responsiveness and understanding our situations due to COVID. I would recommend Cardio-Go to anybody looking for a gym membership in Toronto!

Negative experience: Decent gym with decent classes. I was a member for over 2 years took a long break for personal reasons and when I returned nothing was the same. People weren't very friendly. Classes were lack luster and some instructors were horribly rude. Cancelled my membership recently because I didnt want to continue and even though it's written cancelation they claim they wont accept it because they are closed. Got my lawyer involved. Says I have a case should they choose to ignore it. So if they bill me I'll send them a legal letter. I wouldn't recommend this gym anymore. I would recommend any other gym except goodlife

Negative experience: DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM. VERY POOR MANAGEMENT. I came to this gym because I got a 5 day pass Groupon, after trying my first class, the sales manager Jacqueline, was very persistent that I change my 5 day pass into doing one month for free. I was hesitant on changing it because I was going to be away for December so she said that I could do it in January. She did mention that there was a 30 day notice cancellation, so I told her I wanted to give notice now since I assume that they would be closed on January 1 as I didn't want to be charged for February. She told me that it's okay and that I can just give notice when I return in January. Now that I have returned in January, she told me that in order to get the one month free, I have to get billed before I can even cancel. This was not mentioned what so ever and when I explained to Jacqueline what happened, she was very unprofessional and dismissive. They will lure you into a promotion that you assume is free but that "promotion" costed $25 from the Groupon and now another $90. In terms of communication as well, email is very slow or unresponsive. Email replies take more than 2 business days, or your emails do not get a reply. I tried emailing the owner and received no reply. Calling also is difficult, as managers are said to be unavailable. I joined this gym for their aerial yoga classes which are good, but I would never recommend going to this gym because of their management.

pankhuri jain 5 years ago

Negative experience: Cardio-Go is one of those typical places where when they are taking your money admins are nice, they even lie to you and once you go cancel they are super rude (I wish we were allowed zero star in google review ) My main motive to join a gym/fitness center was to join group class. When I went in to inquire about membership the manager (Cathy Tassone) at front desk lied to me about a $20 promotion going right now and she said only last two left (It was more like inducing a forced way to sign up for membership right there). I asked her about the class schedule for which she said everything is online and I can go an check, so I thought to register (when i checked online first of all $20 promo was unlimited , it was nothing like two left , second I couldn't find any classes before 9 am or between 5 pm to 6 pm which is included in the membership, that the typical time I am free or any office goer is free to do workout). Second lie was telling that I should register now as I have option to cancel any time within 10 days (but what was hidden and which she didn't mention at all was that they won't return my initial registration fee) When I went in second day she was on a call (I was waiting for her to get off the phone, but she hanged in between and asked do I have an appointment, I was taken a back for a bit because when I went in first time she never asked me if I have appointment was it like if they see a new face they don't need appointment because they have to take your money , but every time after that you need one) , she asked me what is it about , I told her that I am here to cancel my membership as I couldn't find any classes which fits my schedule. From that point started her rude attitude , she said I have never seen someone coming and cancelling so soon (not customer's problem if she has not seen something before), she said they have so many classes and so many locations (not customer's problem how many they have , if they have none which fits that particular customer schedule it is of no use for that customer). When I went in I took a written letter (as per my understanding it says at back of Cardio-Go contract that you have to give a written notice), she was like what is this paper I don't need it , I said it says at back of the contract you gave me, she said I have not created the contract paper and don't know what is written on it (I believe she is manager of the place , even if she didn't create she is suppose to know what is written on it or she is just handing them out without reading). She also keep saying you wasted my time , as if customer has ample time only her time is wasted (In reality customer's money and time are gone, Gym gets it keep money). If her time is getting wasted that much may be Cardio-Go should consider automating her job. I am not sure if all their admin/manager are as rude as Cathy Tassone, if yes I am sure no one wants to indulge on a day to day basis with her. You go to a gym to feel motivated and positive , but her attitude was so negative which in turn impacts you.

Shehrbano Khan 5 years ago

Negative experience: HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Steer clear of this gym and its so called promotions. They will mislead you, lie to you, and pretend to address your problem while not making ANY changes whatsoever. Read the paper work VERY carefully because they will promise you one thing, but write down something else, with hidden stipulations that they do not care to disclose. I made the mistake of not reading the reviews before signing on to their so called promotion. All it takes is a quick scan to see many others have been duped by this gym as well. I had the following horrible experience with them: I bought a 5 class Groupon for spin class to try out this gym and was persistently pushed by the sales person (Jacqueline) to sign up for member ship. I told her I wasn’t sure yet that I would be able to commit to it. I was attending my second class through groupon (last week of October) and she said she would give me free member ship for November. I told her I was going to be out of country for most of November anyway, so it doesn’t work for me, and I’ll just continue with the groupon. To further sell the idea of a membership, she promised me the month of December free as well, so I wouldn’t have to pay until January. So I decided to give it a try. Fast forward to Dec 1, and I was charged the membership fee. Since then I have talked to Jacqueline in person asking her to resolve the matter (keeps saying she’ll look into it but no response yet), told her on the phone while she was trying to sell the personal trainer sessions to me (won’t be making that mistake after my experience) and she said she’ll get back to me the same day, but there was no response. I emailed Brennan (the manager I presume) who said he will address it but all they do is look at the paperwork which apparently says my first payment was due Dec 1, 2019, while I was promised the month of December free by Jacqueline. A blatant example of false advertisement and outright lying. I wasn't even encouraged to read the paper work by Jacqueline who simply asked me to sign at the bottom, while telling me shes giving me a "special promotion". Sadly it didn't cross my mind that I was being duped or I would have read the paper work carefully. Additionally, I was told by Brennan recently that as per the promotion we have to pay for one months membership at the very least, which again was not disclosed to me at the time of signing. I went and cancelled my membership so that at the very least I wouldn't be charged for the month of February as well (need to cancel 30 days in advance, and no they do not accept cancellations by phone nor do they voluntarily disclose this information unless you ask) while they claim to be addressing this matter, since this is not a business I can trust. I hope this review saves any future customers from a similar fate. Make sure to read the paperwork carefully, even if you are being promised something else.

Negative experience: It is almost impossible to cancel your membership with Cardio-go and they will disconnect the phone anytime you call them and say "Hi, I want to cancel my membership". The facilities were average, but this administration is very difficult to deal with.

Fantastic experience: Cardio-go is a nice little studio with good facilities and friendly helpful stuff. I have been attending their aerial yoga classes. The studio offers a good variety of aerial yoga. Saturday morning they have core fit aerial wit OJ who is a fantastic instructor. This class fills up quickly and have to sign up well in advance. On Saturday afternoon they offer another aerial class that I particularly like, with Charlotte. This class is a true silk aerial ( even though we do it in slings). It’s a fun and challenging class that is appropriate for all levels. Charlotte is great, her instructions are clear and easy to follow, and she comes over to help is want to try a new pose if you don’t feel comfortable to try on your own. I also like their Sunday class with Niya, as it offers a different challenge and helps me practice my balance.

Negative experience: I had the absolute WORST experience i've ever had at a studio / gym. I reached out to Cathy at Cardio go at the King and University location in November, and she let me know that she had a 5 month membership (which I later found out was set up as a 12 month) for $40 but I had 10 days to cancel. After 7 days, I realized it wasn't for me and I wanted to cancel. I was told that I couldn't come in till the following Monday (which would have been 11 days) because of Cathy's schedule. Once I came in, I was then told that I couldn't cancel for free due to being outside of the 10 days. She then essentially forced my hand to purchase one month to get out of the 5 month contract. I obliged. Prior to the one month starting, i visited the King West Club location to confirm that I will not be charged in the following month as I wanted absolutely nothing to do with this establishment. I was told that my membership was cancelled and I had no issues. Come the next month, no charge. But the month after that, charged $89.97 to my credit card....why? WHO KNOWS. I contacted Steve, the so called President of Cardio Go, who then told me he'd handle it. All he did was look at my file and then decide to officially cancel my membership and give me 2 months for free. At what point, does it sound like I want to ever come back? I was NOT reimbursed my $90 to my credit card, and was treated absolutely horribly. I'll be reporting these guys to the better business bureau for poor business practices, and being conned out of money. PLEASE DON'T GO HERE.

Negative experience: I kinda like the environment, and the staff was helpful but the amenities were kinda gross. The women's change room smells and the washrooms are gross... I didn't use anything.. just really wanted to get in and out. The classes were pretty good, but because of the cleanliness, I have been procrastinating in using all my class passes. Also - because their classes are at times that are inconvenient for me.

Julian D'Angelo 6 years ago

Negative experience: I joined this gym primarily to use the boxing equipment, which is in a room that is occupied virtually every night. They would not let me cancel my account because the promotion I had signed up under required a minimum of 2 months, which is fine with me. They would not let me cancel my account via phone and said I had to come in, and the best they could do was freeze my account for 3 months. I received no further communications, was led to believe my account was cancelled until they called me after an additional 3 months that had accrued on my account (when I had never visited the gym, thinking my account was still frozen.) They submitted me to collections where I now have to pay $400 for a month of use at their gym. Not a great experience.

Positive experience: Quite a place! First of all - location location location! Downtown core, very convenient for people working in the nearest offices. Then - quite stylish design inside! They have everything one might need for a good workout. Some cardio machines, free weights, various machines for different muscle groups (all working!). They also have a room for classes. What they don't have is a proper stratching area. They have some empty corners where people can grab a mat and stretch, but no designated area. How busy it is.. Went there Saturday early morning, 9 am when they just opened. Was quite ok, but by 10 am it got busy. Like really busy. And this is a small gym, so you don't need great number of people to make it busy. Mostly people are working out with personal trainers, but there are also people working out on their own. Changing rooms are quite clean, there is enough of lockers, 4 separate rooms with shower/toiler. Towels available only for members. Oh! And they always have some kind of promotions to join! Overall - very reasonable, clean, sufficient gym to get proper workout!

Positive experience: I first came across this gym through their Groupon deal and honestly I'm glad I did. I've tried several other gyms prior to finding this place but this gym works best for me. The only thing that sucks is that this gym is too pricey for what it offers. Realistically even Good life is cheap compared to this gym as they're not 24 hours and doesn't have much amenities. However, I really enjoy their classes and they offer later classes that works better with my work schedule. Also all the members are very to them selves unlike other gyms which is more like a meat market. Most of the staffs are very friendly and I like the environment. They also offer specialized class like aerial yoga which I love and not too many gym offers this. I've noticed a lot of negative reviews regarding the membership fees. It was never a problem for me as I made sure to understand the terms and conditions prior to signing it. I would recommend you to thoroughly ask them questions and really understand what you're signing up for prior to committing. The only thing though is that they are a bit intimidating and do push any Grouponers to commit...but it makes sense after all they are a business. But just watch out for that if you're unsure and be adamant about not joining or needing more time to decide.

Matt H 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: I've been a member of Cardio go for approximately three years, and during those years I have gone to different gyms either because I travelled somewhere else (I was able to freeze payments on my account until I came back home, which was great) or someone invited me with a pass to a different facility and I wanted to check it out. Cardio-Go stands out among a lot of gyms today as they continue to adopt the 'health club' paradigm. There is more than enough at this location to satisfy those looking to promote health & wellness with a ton of classes (admittedly, I have never done any - but my mother loves them), personal trainers, and your standard gamut of machines. Quality aside, those features are essentially required if you're running a gym facility or fitness club in 2018. With the new wave of health & fitness clubs appearing on nearly every block in Toronto these days, I've noticed a lot are lacking in the sufficient space and hardware that athletes and advanced weightlifters generally require. Cardio-Go kills the competition in this regards. They have twice as many barbells as any gym I have been to (power, olympic, deadlift, hex), dumbbells from 5lbs to a number that escapes me because I probably can't lift it up, and a healthy amount of cable stacks, dip/pullup stations. The gym is incredibly consistent. I know that I'm not going to make any modifications to my workout because everything I expect to be there, is there. There is always space. Should something go wrong, in my experience it is resolved almost immediately. There are also massage therapy, physiotherapy, nutritional coaching, etc.

Fantastic experience: The yoga classes are really good. This is a small gym with friendly staff and great classes.

Andrea Cali 7 years ago

Negative experience: The facilities are very nice but unfortunately had a bad experience since the salesguy I got was pretty unclear with when I was supposed to cancel and somehow I ended up paying for an extra month which is not cheap. I only signed up for 3-months at the start so not sure why they have a cancellation policy like it's a 12-month membership? They were pretty unpleasant and just told me I should have read my contract better. Recommend to read everything very carefully because they will try to sell you on the membership without bothering to explain how it works. I guess that's pretty common at gyms but good to watch out.

Jessica Kishimoto 7 years ago

Positive experience: I attend yoga classes here and it's always been a very positive experience. Aerial yoga is definitely preferred here because the floors are not always very clean for more grounded work. The gym/weight room has been sufficient for what I tend to need so long as I go relatively late in the evenings.

Positive experience: Found this gym through Groupon. Went for an aerial yoga class, the instructor was really great and helped us along slowly to make sure everyone had a good intro experience.

Negative experience: This location is super small. Steve Lachelt invited me and my friend for a trial. I went and I was not convinced that a Bootcamp could be a good idea in such a small place. He wrote me several emails trying to get me into it. I found it predatory. Then this person answered me terribly rude when I finally declined. This people should learn to take a "NO" as an answer. AVOID!

Positive experience: Found this place through Groupon and had Zumba class here. The staffs are mostly helpful but the room is not the best for group dancing space.

Negative experience: AVOID! Terrible gym. Very dirty and cramped. The class (Very few) schedule changed often without notifications. They are predatory and have been relentless after freezing my account for six months after a short trial (instead of canceling outright). Brutal. Check out Adelaide Club or Equinox (even better) instead.

Fantastic experience: First of all let me start by that, that I love the 30 minutes classes as it gives you the chance to exercise during lunch time. Perfect for busy professional mom :) and it has a shower to get quick rinse after. The change room could be a little bigger but oh well. The location is very good, located right on the St. Andrew's Subway line. Yes its small, But that is what I love about it. The class size is maximum 8 people, sometimes you have class just with one other person. The teachers are great and would correct you iof you doing something incorrectly. Ronny is awesome, and would even approach you when you not in his class but doing something independently and will tell you how to do it right. They also would send you a diet plan that you may follow if you wish. So if you into small classes, quick exercise during lunch or before or after work, its the place for you. Other than that, they have free wights, treadmills, steps, bikes, mats, and one weird intimidating machine.
