YYOGA Kitsilano: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Extremely enjoyable hot yoga class & facilities ! Will be coming back for more
Fantastic experience: Instructors are amazing - they vary in intensity and style a bit from class to class - so it's worth trying different ones. The Hot and Power each have some consistency with the poses to practice - again slightly varied with each instructor. I've tried both the Kits and Downtown studios and personally always find the staff exceptionally helpful and friendly (extra props to front desk staff). They are also efficient during the more busy classes getting patrons checked in and sorted out.
Negative experience: If you want to be stuffed in a room like sardines this is for you. You can barely move around without touching someone beside you, in front of you or behind you. Super uncomfortable.
Hi Ashley, This is a very busy time in our studios, just as it is at all other yoga/fitness studios. With so many people focusing on their wellness, we love the energy at this time of year! We do have class capacities and allow space between all mats, but if you are looking for quieter classes, please check with our front desk staff for suggestions. ~Warmly, YYOGA Team
Negative experience: I love doing yoga. I attended y yoga in north van and then in the same week tried out the location in kits. I'm just surprised that there is no cleaning of the bars, blocks, bollsters as is done at other workout places I've been to like barre, other yoga studios... There was no cleaning at both the north van and kits location. I would have also liked more explanation on some of the moves that were done at the kits class. Everyone looked a bit confused at times and I came away with my back feeling worse than when I started as a result. I understand I also have a responsibility in that.
Thank you for sharing your review, DW. We clean all studio props at every location regularly, just not after each class. Each instructor provides different levels of instruction during their class, and you are welcome to ask the instructor for assistance at any time. If you would like to share any further feedback about your specific class experience, please submit the Help & Support form on our website (yyoga.ca). ~Warmly, YYOGA Team
Positive experience: The instructors are amazing, their classes are well curated and the room is hot. The location is convenient and for the most part the staff are helpful and friendly although some are a bit flippant. The sauna is nice and everything is super clean. I do agree with the sentiment shared here by others that this is not a social studio. In fact I might say it is one of (if not the most) anti-social studios I've attended out of the 100+ yoga studios I've had the pleasure to practice in. With that said, if that doesn't matter to you and you're just here for the classes, it's a great studio and you'll likely be very happy with it.
Hi Noble, Thank you for sharing your experience. We are happy to hear you enjoy the classes and we work hard to keep our studio clean. Many guests make connections in our tea lounge but if you have any ideas for community building we would love to hear them! You can reach out through the Help & Support form on our website (yyoga.ca). ~Warmly, YYOGA Team
Positive experience: I am fairly new to Vancouver and wanted to find a studio close to my house. Yyoga is very standard fare in regards to the service they provide. Most instructors are great - some go a little too fast (telling you to take 5 breaths, or to move at your own pace, and then rushing into the next pose before you've finished 2 breaths kind of thing...). This is certainly not the end of the world, more just an annoyance, and a trend that I have noticed through multiple visits now. My chief complaint with Yyoga is that change-rooms are too small for the amount of people they service, forcing everyone to rush, as you try to make space for those around you, as well as the next cohort coming in for their class. This kind of ruins the relaxation element that you get from the class you just finished. Additionally, there is far less emphasis on community here than any other studio I have been to regularly. Not a huge deal, as the class is what I come for, not so much the socialization afterwards, however I do find it interesting as there is very minimal effort made to encourage folks to stay and chat, stretch, have a tea/kombucha etc. Just feels a bit soulless/sanitized compared to other studios I have been to in the past.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Simon. During busy times of day or year, our spaces do feel tighter. If you are looking to relax after class, you are welcome to use our infrared sauna, or sit and have a tea in the lounge before getting changed. This gives rushing guests first dibs at the changeroom, and may allow you to feel less hurried. This may also give you the opportunity to connect with other students also trying to relax after class. Many guests head straight out to go to work or other commitments, especially through the holidays, and do make great connections in our studios. Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: I love Yin Yoga, this location is kind of their flag ship, large capacity, very well equipped and also you can rent a mat, the best amenities: sauna, space enough in the changing room, hair dryers, etc.. even they have like a small tea area
Thank you for this rave review, Giuliana! We ♥️ our Kitsilano studio too. Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Negative experience: My jacket was stolen from the kits yyoga. I talked the front staff twice and called and left a message to have someone from the office call me to discuss the incidence. Never received a call back. In speaking with people about my incident, I have found that many people have experienced theft here. There should be signs warning customers about increased theft but instead yyoga seems more concerned with the optics of this rather than keeping their clients safe.
We are sorry to hear about your experience. Studio leadership will be reaching out to you shortly to gather more information about what happened. Our community's safety is very important to us and we hope that we can take steps towards helping you feel safe at the studio again. Warmly, YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: Amazing studio, very clean, highly qualified teachers. Reception team is always in a good mood and helpful and the community is great. There’s a sauna, tea lounge and patio for spring/summer. Highly highly recommended.
Thank you Dederiek! Lovely to see your name crop up here & hope you are doing well Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Negative experience: In the past, I dated an instructor that works at this location. Recently, I had come into Yyoga with my girlfriend and some of her co-workers. My girlfriend had frequented Yyoga with friends, well before she was my girlfriend and really enjoyed it. The instructor I dated alleged to the police that my girlfriend - who knew nothing of my ex - assaulted her during the visit...in a packed, small space, with around 40 people present. The investigation resulted in lost time and extreme stress to my girlfriend. As a sweetener to the police investigation, Yyoga banned her (but not me). Because of her only mistake - including me in her Yyoga visit - she ended up on a bad episode of a teen high school drama. Un-surprisingly, the case was dropped. In my opinion, if you aren’t going to launch your own investigation into your employees actions, the bare minimum right thing to do would have been to remain independent and treat my girlfriend like an adult. A solution could have been - don’t come to Yyoga when the instructor is there. Given the end result, an apology would have been nice too...but, none of this happened. Yyoga claims to be a community, but it doesn't feel like one.
Hi Ben, Out of privacy for both our teachers and guests, we aren’t able to comment on any police investigations – past or present. We have always put the wellbeing and safety of our team and guests at the highest priority and will continue to do so into the future. Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Negative experience: I went there twice. Every time I’ve been there the front desk is ignoring me and talking to other customers. Before I thought they’re just busy, but it turns out they have their favorite customer type. 2 stars for the facilities and teachers. 0 stars for customer service. Don’t lie to me!
Thank you for taking the time to write your review, Our team treat all guests equally; Some enquiries can take a little longer than others and we ask for your patience if you are waiting to speak with someone at the desk. You are very welcome to reach out to our Customer Support Team with any enquiry via our Support Form - https://yyoga.ca/bc/help-and-support/ Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: I recently had the pleasure of attending a hot yoga session with Proshat, and it was an incredible experience! From the moment the class started, her calming presence and clear instructions made me feel at ease. The session was challenging yet rejuvenating, and Proshat's guidance helped me push my limits in a way that felt empowering. Her attention to detail and ability to create a welcoming atmosphere made this one of the best yoga experiences I've had. I highly recommend her for anyone looking to deepen their practice and connect with themselves on a new level. She is my fave!
Thank you for your kind words Sadaf, We are so delighted to read that you enjoyed your recent class with Proshat Special teachers deserve shout-outs! Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: Sharing my recent experience. Went to the 5pm Hot Yoga with Jess at the Kits studio. Great class. Awesome energy. Her classes are challenging but also very rewarding. Supports all levels and I keep getting so much out of each class. Her hot classes have been transformative for me in my health and wellness journey. The only way kits get better is if you have more people like Jess. One piece of constructive criticism is the men's washroom. Noticing the same showers broken. Hoping by the time I get my next class I see them fixed. Still a 5 ⭐ because Jess is awesome
Thank you for leaving this review Jesse, We are delighted that you enjoy Jess' classes - we agree that they are pretty amazing. We have passed along your note regarding the men's washroom - We are aware of the issue, unfortunately it is taking a little longer to fix than we had initially hoped. Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Positive experience: I go to Lyndsey’s flow classes on Mondays and Wednesdays, and she’s by far the best teacher I’ve found in the city. Her sessions are challenging and fast-paced, which may not suit everyone, but I love them! On a separate note, I’d love to feel more of a community vibe at YYOGA. People don’t really interact with each other and there’s a great indoor and patio space that could be used for hosting events to bring people together.
Thank you for leaving this review Lauren, We are delighted that you have been enjoying Lyndsey's classes ♂️ - - - for those who prefer a slower paced class, she also offers Hatha! We love a great excuse for celebrating our community; throughout the year there may be scope here & there to offer pop-up events and opportunities to socialise. You are always welcome to speak with one of our Leaders in studio about any ideas you have We highly recommend attending one of our Special Classes if you see one on the schedule; these offerings tend to attract those coming together to celebrate or experience something new rather than those who are in their regular pattern and possibly seeking peace from the outside world. Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: Hilarry Keegan's yhot classes are a Vancouver must experience
We absolutely agree Shahab! Thank you for taking the time to write this review. Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Positive experience: Great studios with amazing teachers! A lot of yoga classes to suit everyone’s schedule. However I would love to see more Pilates fusion classes! And a lot of classes are PACKED which gives you no space to actually do the moves, it feels a little greedy, like YYOGA care more about the profit than the experience of their members! But overall, I do think it’s a great studio to be a member of!
Thank you for your kind words about the studio & amazing teachers at YYOGA, Roisin. We have noted your request about more Pilates Fusion classes - we know that it is a popular class, and as such is under-demand & sometimes busy Please speak to our front desk team re. options for quieter class times. They will be able to offer some suggestions based on your practice goals & needs. Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: My favourite studio to practice Yoga. They have an amazing staff. The space is so welcoming and spacious.
Thank you for your kind words Parisa, We are so grateful that you bring joy to this community! Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Negative experience: From out of town and visited the studio on the weekend. When I came out of class my shoes were gone. Called several times and went back in person to talk to someone but have gotten no response. I have since struggled to hear back from anyone regarding whether or not they have investigated or tried to contact their cliental that takes other people's shoes...
Thank you for your feedback Bronwen - our sincerest apologies that it took a little while to connect. We are glad that we had the opportunity to chat through this incident and provide a solution. Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Negative experience: The class was way too full to be able to move freely. The instructions were also really really fast and I didn’t like that the teacher didn’t show them. I’m not a beginner but the whole reason i go to a studio is to have additional guidance. The studio itself is really nice and clean though.
Thank you for your review Lena, We are sorry that your visit did not meet your expectations on this occasion. Classes can vary considerably depending on the style and the time of day you practice - If you choose to return, please feel free to ask our team about classes that are best suited to your practice goals - We know that we will find a great fit for you! Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: Staff is always so warm and kind! Space is super clean and tidy which is a huge plus.
Thank you for your kind words Yassaman, We appreciate you being a part of our wonderful community! Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: Always clean, calm, and kind! Loved coming here for a 10 class pass from the holidays <3
Thank you for your kind words Theresa! We have loved having you practice with us Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Negative experience: I arrived at this YYOGA event on March 23rd 0930 for Hot Yoga. Well I did not go. I checked in and then proceed to get discriminated by three staff members who worked there and were are the front desk area. It was the worst experience... I was completely put down, verbally harrassed and most definitely discriminated. This is should never happen to anyone. I was also completely harassed by a woman who was not even an employee. So four individuals who directly harrassed me and completely discriminated aganist me. Y YOGA I am filing a formal complaint and potential legal action aganist you and your employees. As well as potential legal actions aganist the woman who was not even an employee who verbally harrassed me. There is video footage. And my wife was also present. I have discussed this in depth what unfolded that morning. And want others to know what happened. I will not be silent but voice what happened. As others should know. I strongly recommend not going to this place. And going else where. A place that the staff respect you for signing up and paying them for class. Not being verbally assulted by Y Yoga Staff and non employee. Y Yoga. I would strongly encourage you(YYOGA) to do an internal investigation ASAP. Because you guys have another thing coming to you. I strongly encourage people to stay away from this place. It was one of the most unreal events unfolded and to be directly targeted. I usually write reviews about Restaurant experiences. But this needed to be said and know to the greater public of Vancouver and Canada. Futher want to add. After filing a compliant with Yyoga corpate. I got a very genaric response from their Studio Manager. And then when I responded to his email, I got an automatic offline response. With NO follow up at all. See attachments. I would strongly stay clear of Yyoga. As their managment plays a role in the inability to handle matters like this accordinly and professionally.
Thank you for taking the time to leave this review John. We take feedback like this incredibly seriously and are following up with the Saturday morning team. This is extremely out of character for our community. Our Studio Manager will reach out to you directly to discuss at their earliest opportunity. Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: I love the yhot classes. Always come out feeling "rung out", mentally and physically. They have great showers, changerooms and bathrooms are always clean and love their tea room.
Thank you for you kind words Chloe, We are delighted that the YHot classes support your whole self and that you feel refreshed afterwards! We appreciate you being our community, ~ YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: I love this studio. They have amazing teachers and lots of options happening all throughout the day - both hot and unheated. I’ve been coming here regularly for the last two years and I’m so grateful to have found this place and this practice. Everyone is always very kind. It’s a beautiful space to hang out before and/or after your practice, there is a sauna and they provide hot tea everyday. Even when the classes are full the teachers do an amazing job to harness the energy of the room. If you’re looking for quieter classes, come during the day. All round amazing studio!
Thank you for your kind & conscientious review Cora We are so happy that you are in the community at Kits and love that you enjoy the space & classes so much! Great tip for all those who prefer to practice in smaller groups too Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: great here
Thank you Claire! Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: I attended Araba’s power class at 7 am on a Monday morning. What an incredible instructor who uses her gentle voice to guide you through a beautiful and perfectly challenging flow. I’m surprised the class wasn’t completely full - I suppose Monday mornings are a bit tough and not for the faint of heart. It was the perfect way to start my week. Highly recommend!
Thank you for your kind words Sat, We are so delighted that you enjoyed incredible Araba's class and that it was a good start to your week. See you again soon, ~ YYOGA Team
Negative experience: Teachers are good, and facilities are new and clean. But the practise rooms are always supper packed, they have stickers on the floor to indicate where to place your mat, which leaves you only with 30 cm each side, so no room for movements. I attended a class facing the front wall that was painted white; terrible to look at and keep balance. This studio could be amazing if they didn't pile people like livestock...
Fantastic experience: If you like CorePower in the US, you’ll love YYOGA, especially their YHOT class. Gorgeous clean space, very warm and hospitable folks working here, relaxing and energizing classes. Bonus: they have a tea room and sauna!
Thank you for your kind words Sarah! We are delighted you enjoyed your visit and hope to see you back in studio again in the future ~ Warmly, YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: Took the hot class with Ashley Levii and it was fantastic! I’ve been to a decent amount of classes here and this was my favourite instructor. Super helpful, personable and inclusive. Hoping she gets a regular class session I can attended.
Thank you for your kind words Mikael, We are so happy you enjoyed your class with Ashley - it's so great to get into a groove with a teacher that aligns with your practice ✨ ~ Warmly, YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: Great yoga classes (especially hot yoga) and modern facilities. I love YYoga and I hope they will one day open a location in Port Moody or Coquitlam!
Thank you for your kind words Martina, We are so delighted to read that you are enjoying your YHot classes! Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: LOVE Lucy St. John's yin class!!
Thank you for your kind words Beverly - we agree that Lucy is the tops! Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: Reception staff were extremely friendly and understanding of my arriving a couple minutes late for a Yin class. Understandably, the class started already and unfortunately I could not join in, but the staff credited the class and offered other same-day options to me, despite my offering to pay a fee or for the missed class. I appreciate the reasonable customer service and look forward to more classes with YYoga. (Highly recommend Yin/meditation with Ali, she's a gem).
Thank you for your kind words Alex, We are glad to hear that you were supported by the team - but sorry that you weren't able to join the class on this occasion. Hope to see you back on the mat soon! ♂️ Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: I really only go to Hillary's hot yoga class now, and not because the other instructor's aren't good, they are, but it's because I think she is the most amazing instructor and person. She uses sound bowls to start and finish the class and always has an inspiring quote to share with us. It actually feels like I've been to a therapy session after one of her classes. It's really the full deal! Thank you Hillary for everything you do.
Thank you for your feedback Natalie, We are delighted that you are enjoying the amazing Hillary & her offerings! We understand that sometimes finding different instructors can be challenging - we would suggest connecting with our team in the studio, or Hillary herself for recommendations on likeminded teachers to practise with. Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Positive experience: Really like the studio and especially Yin classes. The receptionist Melizan(may have spelled it wrong) seem pretty cold though. I was 1min late for the class and she said I couldn’t attend, which is understandable considering the class starts with a meditation, but the fact that she was really enjoying saying that I cant attend the class seemed a little off. I had to tell her that she’s not being very kind at which point she gave me a free class pass. Appreciate that, but I think her behavior was quite cold and off putting. Always had a good experience with others working there. Thanks!
Thank you for taking the time to write this review Manny. It's great that you are loving the Yin classes! We are sorry that on this occasion your interaction with the team member came across in this way - this was certainly not the intention. Breaking news to a guest that we aren't able to allow entry to class late is our least favourite thing & in our experience is not something anyone on the YYOGA Team would enjoy doing. We look forward to welcoming you again soon. Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Negative experience: If for some reason you are 3 minutes late they will not allow you to visit your class, and of course they will not return the money.
We are sorry that you were not able to attend class due to arriving late at the studio. We recommend arriving early to studio (10-15 minutes before class) and do not allow latecomers as this can disturb other guests & members who have arrived on time & the teacher who has started leading the session. Our team is sympathetic to supporting those who may have had issues in reaching the studio on time, and you are welcome to reach out to [email protected] if you feel there is more they could have done to help you on this occasion Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: Nothing but good vibes and top notch facilities. Jess is my favorite instructor, but I’ve tried a few others and they are great. Recommend a flow or Y Hot.
Thank you for your kind words Nicholas, So great to hear that you are enjoying Jess' classes! Definitely check out the patio for some post yoga rays Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: I really enjoy going to this Yyoga location! The staff are very warm, friendly, kind and helpful. All the instructors I have had are clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about their craft as well as have a very keen sense of engagement with what is going on with every student in class. The other practitioners I have met at Yyoga have also been generally warm, kind and engaged in their practice. There's a sauna which I absolutely enjoy to sit in and relax after class. Overall the premises is very spacious and well laid out, the patio is really nice to sit in, relax and soak some sun either before or after class. The teas they provide are always delicious and refreshing. All these things make for not only a great yoga experience but a really soulful, peaceful and enriching human experience that always leaves me feeling nourished and more connected to something larger than myself.
Thank you for your kind words Eddie, It is so wonderful to read that you are enjoying your experience throughout the studio & that our amazing teachers & Team are providing a calming and friendly space. Our community is so important to us, and it is through the spirit of those who work & play at our studio that this sense of enrichment thrives. Enjoy soaking up those rays on the best patio on West 4th (in our humble opinion!) Warmly ~ YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: Y Yoga will always have a place in my heart! I practiced and taught there from 2010 to 2018 and I will be back to visit soon! So glad you’re still going strong!! Great business model and wonderful people
Ambre So lovely to hear from you - you are much missed! Thank you for your kind words; our wonderful community really is at the heart of YYOGA. ~ YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: It was fantastic! The space is beautiful and everyone is warm and welcoming. I tried the pilates fusion class for my first time and my experience was great! Thanks so much everyone :)
Thank you so much for your kind words Rachel - we are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your first class at YYOGA ♀️ Warmly - YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: Regular hot practitioner. Monthly pass holder. Talented instructors from a variety of backgrounds with different approaches to what is essentially the same series means I can pick the teachers I vibe with, and always be deepening my practice whether I want to sit back a bit, or feel the fire. I am a more mindful person, stronger, and more balanced IN class, and bring that out with me into the "real world". Clean facilities, friendly staff. Five stars, Google? I say SIX.
Thank you for your kind words Chris - it is incredibly cool that you are taking your good vibes from studio and shining that light in the 'real world' We are so grateful that you choose to join us on the mat at Kits. Warmly, YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: Such a friendly and warm atmosphere, clean facilities, and top notch instructors.
Thank you for your review Lily Warmly, YYOGA Team
Negative experience: As someone who yard been practicing yoga for 10+ years, I have never had a truly worse session. The studio was absolutely filthy and had obviously not been cleaned in some time with hair, dirt, and who knows what else all over the floor. They shove so many people into one space you can barely move without hitting your neighbours. I had signed up for a yoga Pilates fusion class, but this was neither of these. The instructor was clearly not certified as she gave very poor instructions and the flow between movements could actually be dangerous to one’s body. About a quarter of the class was just stepping to the best of the music. I will never be going back.
Thank you for taking the time to write this feedback, Megan. Some of these comments are concerning & we would like the opportunity to connect and find out a little bit more about your experience as it is contrary to our ethos; YYOGA's first priority is the safety & comfort of our community. If you would like to do so - please reach out to [email protected].
Fantastic experience: love this studio, staff is always friendly and the space is clean and inviting.
Thank you for your kind feedback Lisa - the Kits team are wonderful humans
Negative experience: The worst experience ever. Parking nightmare, staff don’t even let you in even if you come 1 minute before class. Because they have strict rules. I wasn’t let in to class which started 3:30 and I came 3:29!!!lost my money and lost my interest to this studio. Don’t recommend, place should try harder because I see now bad reviews are just from me.
Thank you for sharing your feedback Sarka, We are sorry that circumstances meant you were unable to attend class. We have a strict no latecomer policy out of fairness to those guests who are ready to start the class on time. Information about our policies are clearly outlined on our website & via ClassPass website. Our Kitsilano studio is on West 4th Avenue which can be busy - we recommend choosing alternative transport should you find parking to be tricky in the area. If you would like to discuss your experience further, our team is here to support. - YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: As good as a yoga studio gets. Good instructors, friendly staff, in a clean and chill facility, at fair prices. During the pandemic, I bought their discounted class passes fully knowing I may not be able to use those passes for a while, and I did so just to support this local business. Yyoga kept their word and let us pass holders delay the activation date of those passes for more than a year (if I remember correctly), and kept us in the loop with periodic email updates on the studio re-opening schedule. Even though Yyoga's nearest location to me did not survive the pandemic, this location is a great replacement for me!
Hi cm, Thank you for your kind words - we are so happy that you have found that the Kitsilano studio is suitable for your new yoga home & community We are so grateful to all of our guests who helped support our teams & teachers at the beginning of lockdown, especially as this was a time of huge uncertainty for us all. Your generosity & grace will always be appreciated. See you on the mat! Warmly, YYOGA Team
Negative experience: The studio is decent, but as a business I am extremely disappointed with this company. The membership options are designed to take your money. You have to dig around for the ridiculous terms (why would passes expire???) for each membership and you can't easily cancel or alter your membership without having to go through an extensive email exchange. Clearly, they're more interesting in having people's paid classes expire than they are about providing wellness services. I use a similar business in the neighbourhood who is not only flexible but will even give you a free class if you didn't have a good experience.
Thank you for your feedback G P, We appreciate that expiry dates may not work for everyone but they are key to the sustainability of our business. Terms & conditions for all passes & memberships are clearly indicated at purchase and for all monthly or auto-renewing passes our guests are required to read & agree to a short contract before any payment is taken. It is in YYOGA's interest for all guests to be informed about the pass type they have chosen to purchase. We have offered to look into your account further - please respond to our team if you would like this matter resolved. Warmly, YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: Friendly, caring and supportive staff Talented, encouraging and passionate teachers Clean and beautiful studio Wish they add early bird classes starting 6:30 in the morning
Thank you for your kind words Azin We are delighted that you are enjoying your time on the mat! We have passed along this feedback to our Programming Team regarding early bird classes - sunrise yoga is the BEST way to start the day Warmly, YYOGA Team
Positive experience: At the beginning of the year I put my membership on hold because they couldn't offer hot classes. Today I decided to reactivate my membership with a few paid classes remaining & was very excited to attend a class. Unfortunately their website wouldn't allow me to login, none would pick up the phone (several attempts) and when I showed up 20 min before the class to reactivate it in person I was told that I have to wait for 72hrs. In the meantime I'm more than welcome to buy another membership to attend this class. Super nice & sweet humans working at the front desk & teaching classes, but the bureaucratic red tape is absurd...
Thank you for your review Toly, we are happy to hear that you are excited to attend class and sorry that this didn't happen for you yesterday. I will reach out to you directly as I think our information is at cross-purposes; please reference the email sent in to you in January re. your 5 Class Pack which is currently active - you are able to use the remaining visit until May 19th. We are a very small (but mighty ) team and due to the extra measures we have taken to place memberships/passes on hold due to the pandemic, the steps required to adjust accounts are multi-layered & complicated. Our wonderful studio team have a lot on their plates to keep our studios safe & running smoothly so we ask that they send requests to reactivate through to our Basecamp for processing - this can take up to 72 hours.
Positive experience: Beautiful space, great teachers, wide range of options. Pricey but you get what you pay for!
Hi Starleigh, Thank you for taking the time to share your review. We hope to see you back in studio soon. Warmly, YYOGA Team
Positive experience: The space is always very clean
Hi Liza, I hear that you're frustrated with the level of service you experienced. We do our best to support our guests and make the process as smooth as possible. If you would like to reach out to us via our Contact Us Form: YYOGA.ca/contact-us we can set a time for a phone call to understand your experience and how we can do better in the future. Warmly, YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: Don't sweat it, or do!
Negative experience: Don't bother coming here anymore. It used to be a good place but now if you don't show up exactly 10 minutes before the class starts and not a minute later they will lock you out and waste your money and your time.
Hi Maryel, We are sorry to hear you had a poor experience. Our policy is that classes do start on time out of respect for the other guests but we do not lock the door until class has started. If you would like to share more details about your specific experience please reach out to us via our Contact Us Form: YYOGA.ca/Contact-Us. We would love the opportunity to learn from this. Warmly, Your YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: Great and beautiful studio with knowledgeable instructors and several locations to choose from.
Fantastic experience: Amazing. I’ve practiced at the 4th Ave YYoga location for 5+ years. Highly recommended. Atmosphere, teachers, room lit with Sunlight, sauna, patio. When I’m mentally, physically or otherwise needing energized this is my favourite studio. Always clean, always friendly. I’ve been to a few dozen yoga studios in a dozen cities across the west coast in US and Canada over 10 years and this one is the best. With the new Covid street patios along 4th, you can finish yoga and walk outside 20 feet to enjoy friends and a taco. Well done YYoga.
Hi Ryan! Thank you so much for your review. We love having you at the Kitsilano location, and we love being your favorite yoga studio! We look forward to seeing you for a class again soon. Warmly, Your YYOGA Team
Negative experience: I would put 0 stars if I could. I arrived exactly at the time of the class. 18.30 and they had the door locked. I called as now one answered the door. And they said they opened 10 minutes later and that there was nothing they could do. That they couldn’t let me in as they have “straight policies” I had booked the class via the ClassPass so I they didn’t let me in I would have to pay extra 15cad on top of the class. They didn’t care. After I complained with the ClassPass, they were the ones that apologized and refund me. The studio didn’t do anything but closed the door on my face. Awful experience after having worked 10 hours and driving 30’ to get to this class. Never ever coming again
Hi Maria, We are so sorry to hear about the experience you had at our Kitsilano studio. We understand how frustrating it is to not be able to attend class as you planned. We would like to look into this further for you. If you can reach out to us at https://yyoga.ca/bc/contact-us/ with more details about the date and time of your class, we would be happy to look into this for you. Kindly, The YYOGA Team
Positive experience: Always a great experience when coming here. I wish they offered a discount for students as it can be expensive.
Hi Travis, thank you for your review! We do offer a discount for students. Drop us a line, we're happy to help ya get that set up! Also, we just launched our Holiday 10 Class Pack which is on sale for $135. Check it out at yyoga.ca.
Fantastic experience: If you ever have a chance, I would HIGHLY recommend going to any of Hilary’s classes!! She is all about living life to the fullest and she’s full of energy and positivity and I swear I feel so much better and full of excitement after taking her class! Especially if she is hosting one of her special sound bowl classes, they are RIDICULOUSLY COOL! I miss them so much cause I haven’t been since Covid but I can’t wait to go back!
Hi Michelle! Thank you so much for your review. We also love Hillary and her inspiring classes. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to support you in returning to your practice in-studio. We look forward to seeing you back on the mat again soon. Warmly, Your YYOGA Team
Positive experience: Beware! I have been attending for years and, overall, I have been satisfied with my membership. However, with the pandemic they had to change their cancellation policy and I understand as they have reduced class sizes and will impact their business. You must cancel 12 hours in advance or will be penalized if you purchase a package, no penalty yet for annual membership yet. Email sounds punitive. My concern is not allowing latitude for circumstances that happen within the 12 hours or if you fall ill within that period and decide.to come in to ensure the class is used up. I renewed prior to the pandemic and I want to 'use' up my membership otherwise there are a lot of great yoga online, free or paid.
Hi Teresa, We look to our guests to respect our cancellation policy, in particular during times like this pandemic where our capacities are so severely reduced and not cancelling your reservation impacts the ability for another guest to book. We completely understand that COVID presents unique situations and will always work with you to ensure you're not impacted due to a late cancel from illness. As we have always shared with our community, simply contact us and we will work through that with you. Overall, we feel we have gone above and beyond in supporting our community through this global pandemic in the best ways we can, during what has been an incredibly difficult time for us. We always welcome your further feedback and you can contact us here: https://yyoga.ca/bc/contact-us/ Warmly, The YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: Always a great experience here. So glad they reopened.
Hi Andrew, Thank you for your review! We are so happy to have you back in-studio and can't wait to see you back on the mat again soon. Thank you for your support. Warmly, The YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: Great studio.
Hi Dean! Thank you so much for the review. We are looking forward to welcoming you back into the Kitsilano studio very soon! Warmly, The YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: Love YYoga Kits. Fantastic view of the City too.
Hi Peter, Thank you so much for the review. We are glad to hear that you love our YYOGA Kitsilano studio and hope to welcome you back for a class in-studio very soon. Warmly, Your YYOGA Team
Positive experience: Nice enough studio but inconsistent policies with regards to arrival time for classes. Having a policy on arrival time is fine but it should be clearly communicated and consistent across front desk staff. I arrived one minute late for a class I booked and was not allowed to join the class (which means I will be charged no show fee through ClassPass) I was really looking forward to the class and this previously hadn’t been a problem.
Hi Heather, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are so sorry to hear that you were unable to attend the class you had reserved for. We understand it can be frustrating to make the effort get to the studio, to not make it in time. We will definitely work with our Guest Experience Teams to enforce a stronger consistency with our late-policies across all of our studios, so that there is no confusion in the future. Please keep an eye out for an email from us with further follow up to this experience. Kindly, Your YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: My favourite yoga studio in the lower mainland. I love all the Yyoga locations but this one in particular is the best! The hot room is such a fantastic temperature and the changerooms are always clean and spacious.
Hi Dawn, Thank you very much for your glowing review! We love having you at our YYOGA Kitsilano studio and we are thrilled to hear that you enjoy our YHot classes. See you on the mat! Warmly, The YYOGA Team
Negative experience: The facilities are very nice however I was not too impressed with the customer service. If you're going to pay for classes, make sure you read the fine print because there are no exceptions. I bought a 10 pass for 3 months and had injured myself. They said that they can't extend the time limit unless you get a doctor's note. I paid for a doctors note and made sure to outline how long I was out for, however they would only extend the expiry date for 1 month and since my schedule is not very flexible, a few classes went to waste. Also, when I went in to use my last class on the expiry date, the front desk person told me because it was my birthday I have 5 days to use my free birthday class. This was great because obviously my 10 pass had just expired however when I went to use it, they told me that since I didn't have an active membership, I can't actually use a birthday pass. This misinformation from person to person was incredibly frustrating.
Hi Robyn, Thank you for reaching out and writing in about your 10 Class Pack experience. We are so sorry to hear that you were injured and unable to use up your classes as intended, and that the exception we offered was not suitable for you. We would love to look into the situation further, if you would not mind reaching out to us at [email protected] with your contact details. Warmly, The YYOGA Team
Negative experience: I have never dealt with such horrible customer service in my entire life. This company is money hungry like no other. I requested to cancel my membership that I have not used since May after moving to a city that did not have a YYoga. They made me send them proof of moving which is fine, but refused to back date it for when we moved. My "proof" which was our internet bill was from July in our new house and they still wouldn't do it. You would hope that a company would understand the stress associated with a move and that I forgot to do it in July. Biggest waste of money. Their studios aren't even clean. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.
Hi Laura, Thank you for reaching out. I am so sorry to hear that you had an unfortunate experience in Cancelling your Annual. We understand that moving can be stressful and that you may not have been thinking to cancel your membership at that time. We do ask for at least 72 hours notice for Cancellation Requests, and unfortunately are not able to backdate all requests. We would be happy to look into what we can do for you in this instance, and we will reach out with a follow up email. Kindly, The YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: I love Yyoga Kits - well run, friendly staff
Amazing! We are so happy to hear that Josh! Thank you for your support. Warmly, The YYOGA Team
Fantastic experience: Extremely beautiful space, very committed teachers, would definitely recommend!
Hi Clay! Thanks so much for the kind words! We love our Kitsilano studio and teachers, and are happy to hear you do too. Hope to see you back on the mat soon! Warmly, The YYOGA Team
Positive experience: LOVE the studio and location, very clean modern and spacious - hard to imagine a nicer studio. The instructor was great as well. However - 2 things to note: 1) The lockers are tiny so don't bring a lot with you unless you want to leave it in the change room and 2) the aromatherapy class was a great yoga class but the only aromatherapy was passing around lavender mat spray.. Definitely wouldnt bother with the "aromatherapy" again. However still a great yoga class.
Hi Erikka! Thanks so much for the nice review! We're so happy that you enjoyed your experience at YYOGA. I'll pass on the notes about the aromatherapy and lockers to the Studio Manager. There should always be oils diffusing and most teachers will apply some hands-on during the class too, so we'll look into this one! Looking forward to seeing you again soon! Warmly, the YYOGA team
Fantastic experience: Hard to imagine a nicer yoga studio in Vancouver Big selection of classes with amazing teachers -- Hot, power, flow, hatha, pilates, yin ... Two big bright studios, one hot and one warm A beautiful infrared sauna, lounge and sundeck to relax in before and after your class Filtered water and hot organic tea for free Kombucha and healthy snacks at the counter and lots of super healthy places to eat right outside Big change rooms with great showers, soap, shampoo and conditioner Lockers for your valuables There's even a great beach a short walk from the studio if you want to lay in the sand I'd give this place at least 10 stars
Hi Graham! Thanks so much for your amazing feedback! We're so happy to hear that you're loving our studio in Kits and so glad you're such a great part of our community. Can't wait to see you again soon!!
Fantastic experience: It actually hurts me to leave a 3 star review. For one I absolutely love the space, the classes and the teachers. I however feel the need to let it be known that I recently bought a pack of 10 classes and have only used 1 of them, I recently broke my arm at work and am unable to practice yoga let alone much else for the next 2+ months. I'm told even with a doctors note that they cannot put my class pack on hold till the Doctor deems me fit again. I'm told that the "system won't allow it", when to me it just sounds like a really feeble corporate excuse. At this point it pains me to say I am strongly considering not returning to any of these facilities simply because the solutions they provide do not help someone in my case at all. I got a good deal on a 10 pack class and will not lose that deal even with a Doctor's note. Regardless, I felt the need to share in the case that they might loosen their policy a bit. (Update) - They have since resolved my issues and we’re quite pleasant about helping me out.
We are sorry to hear you've broken your arm! We want to support you in returning to your practice once you are healed and want to help with your pass. Please email us at [email protected] with your full name and YYOGA ID (if you have it) so we can get in touch with some options.
Positive experience: Receptionist is not friendly, but the atmosphere is as nice and more spacious compared to the Highgate location. Still fairly clean with convenient lockers and keys available so you don’t need to bring your own lock, but the size is only for your valuables, not your whole yoga bag. Mat rental is $3.50 if you happen to forget yours.
Thanks for the review Tina! We will look into this more with our team in studio. We hope to see you again soon!
Fantastic experience: Looove YYOGA Kitsilano. Super sad I've moved further away and can't attend as much, but it's a great studio and not as busy as downtown. Great teachers and a good mix of classes :)
Thanks for the nice review Jess! Hope you're enjoying the other YYOGA locations and can come back and visit any time. Hope to see you soon!
Positive experience: Nice yoga studio with a cool tea lounge and outdoor patio.
Thanks for the nice review Vincent! See you again soon!!
Fantastic experience: Originally did not want to go here as the online reviews were bad, but my air BnB host (Jess) suggested this place to me. Best recommendation ever! Staff were so warm, genuine and service was great. Felt like I was at a day spa that offered yoga. Love their infrared sauna! YYoga was a perfect mini retreat from a busy travel schedule. I had Sarah (curly hair) and Hillary ("the real yoga starts when you leave the mat") as teachers for my YHot sessions and they were excellent! You never know what teachers you will get, but I hit the jackpot twice. I also tried out YYoga on Burrard St (studio is fancier, but I did a Yin class and was unimpressed/underwhelmed). I much prefer the Kitsilano location as it is smaller/boutique/intimate. Love the view from the Cypress room. I fell in love with Vancouver and I will definitely drop in on a YHot session (or two) when in town next (Sydney, Australia).
Hey Michelle! Thanks so much for the lovely review and we're so happy that you enjoyed your visit to Vancouver!! We hope to see you again soon.
Negative experience: Lacking culture. Average teachers. Corporate feel. I was on the fence about them, but bought a 5 card pass to try. Had 2 weeks off working and came back to find out my last 3 classes had expired. Save yourself the time and go somewhere with heart!
We're so sorry to hear about your experience with YYOGA and we're keen on understanding how we could have done better. Are you open to sharing more with us? Please let us know and we'll be happy to get in touch with you. Kindly, Your YYOGA Team
Positive experience: This used to be a top notch location with great teachers. Only a few good teachers remain. The maintenance of the building is not great, the front entry carpet has looked horrible for years and they have not bothered to replace it. It just feels like not a lot of care has gone into keeping this location in top shape and worth the cost of classes.
Hi Kaare, thanks so much for sending in your thoughts. We take all feedback very seriously as a way to better our services and offerings to our community. I have passed this onto our Operations team to review. We really appreciate you taking them time to let us know. Thanks so much!
Positive experience: I cant give them more or less stars then 3, they have alot of classes and alot of locations which is rad. BUT, I find the class sizes (in the evenings) when I was going were always PACKED, the teachers didnt help with how to move into poses or even adjust peoples stances. For over 100+ a month I expect more from the teachers and staff. They used to have alot more lil perks to going, which makes sense when youre paying alot. But now everythingthings seems really cooperate. I wouldnt suggest my friends to go here because frankly it is way to expensive. But, at the same time if someone DOES wanna try it i wont turn them away.
Hi Haley, thanks so much for reaching out to us. Sorry for the delay in our response. We really value all feedback and thank you for sending in your thoughts. We're really sorry you haven't had an amazing experience with us and would love to turn this around. If you want to send us a little more info or would like to discuss this further, please send us a contact us form so the team can get back to you. https://yyoga.ca/contact-us
Negative experience: This is more of a corporate stretch centre, I wouldn't call it yoga. There used to be hair spray and lotion and now there is just cheap shampoo and conditioner - if you are lucky enough to find a shower stall that has been filled. The line ups (and rush) to get into the classes take the feeling of peace away, effectively missing the whole point of yoga. I have had promotions promised to me but not honoured here and as such will not be returning to yyoga. It's too bad that yyoga has a monopoly on the yoga market and has caused the smaller family businesses to close down. The quality of the teachers has declined substantially over the last few years. It is more about the poses without much direction or teaching, just naming the poses. This can be dangerous if you are new and need to learn properly to prevent long term injury from repetitive misalignment. And what happened to the app? do you guys not make enough money to have an app instead of giving the option of installing to the home screen? not cool.
Negative experience: I arrived 10 minutes before class and was turned away because I didn't have photo ID on me. The staff were not accommodating or sympathetic at all. I have a $40 giftcard that I won't be using because I'm too uncomfortable to go back. There are a million yoga studios in this city...why go to one that creates extra barriers for potential clients and treats them poorly? edit: I see other reviewers have had the same experience so it looks like the studio just doesn't care.
Negative experience: The facility is gorgeous and has everything you need. The sauna is a wonderful and spacious. In the three classes I attended all three teachers were novice in my opinion. Little explanation about how to move into the poses. Modifications for those who are capable of the 'full expression' of a pose, but no modifications for others who aren't in the same place. Long lasting standing poses in hot classes. Novice customer service staff.
Positive experience: I did the into month for $40 and overall it was good but I wouldn't go back for a membership for a few reasons. One, the talking and chatter before class was a huge disappointment. Every studio I went to before this was quite upon entering the room out of respect for those who were meditating or just wanted to relax before class. Super distracting and unnecessary, talk before or after. Also, for a $20 drop in class for Yhot and they cant even provide a cold towel after class. Teachers were pretty good and the facility was really clean but not worth it in the long run.
Negative experience: Such a bad costumer service. I have been practicing with Yyoga for few years now. Now that I have kids it's already challenging to go for class. I came 2 minutes before class start but the team spend the time to argue who will help me and took the time... And then they said I can't go in. After paying parking, babysitting etc. They saw I was running to make it on time but kind of refuses to help me make it. I think I'm going to check a new place after five years with YYoga.
Hi Naama, sorry to hear about your experience! You must arrive and check in at least 10 minutes before the class starts as per our etiquette (you can review this here:https://www.yyoga.ca/etiquette). Please also note that once a class is started, guests will not be able to sign in or enter late. This encourages a peaceful classroom environment, showing respect for the experience of fellow guests that arrive on time.
Negative experience: A lot of racist white folks come here to do yoga ironically. The staff aren't too friendly either however I can only speak for the evening staff. They always seem a bit miffed or confused.
Negative experience: This place is horrible!! Bad customer service and they are just interested on your cash. Please check other places like Oxygen Yoga or One Hour hot yoga or Equinox before you joined here!!!!
Negative experience: Like another reviewer, wasn't able to take my class. Arrived with my girlfriend, I needed to sign the waiver which didn't leave me enough time to get in for the start of class. Was told I wouldn't be able to go in. Not bothered about missing the class - technically, I didn't get there early enough - but the manner in which it was done was just terrible customer service top to bottom. Left feeling like an idiot. And of course, my girlfriend went in, and the class didn't even start for another 5 minutes! After I'd long gone to the gym, thinking about which yoga studio I'll go to next instead. In a city saturated with yoga studios, you'd do well to accommodate your new guests better.
We'd love to hear how we can improve! Please let us know your feedback.
Positive experience: Facilities are great, however I don't like that there's often talking before each class starts. Every class feels more like a social circle than yoga. Also, some of the classes are under an hour and that's too short in my opinion.
Thank you for your feedback! Everyone prepares for their practice in a different way - for some people this is a quiet meditation while others prefer to release the stresses of their day through discussion. We encourage our guests to choose their own preparation but are happy to step in if anyone is extremely loud or disruptive. The majority of our classes are a minimum of 60 minutes. The exceptions are lunch time YHot weekdays (so they can be done during an hour-long lunch break from work) and higher intensity fitness classes.
Positive experience: such friendly staff and nice showers!
Negative experience: Worst yoga experience ever. Arrived to meet a friend I hadn't seen in a month to try out YYoga together. I live 6 blocks away so walked up with my debit card and mat. While paying for the class they insisted I have a photo id to join the class - for liability purposes. I didn't and so I couldn't join my friend. I had a look at the website before I headed out and didn't see this requirement. Not impressed.
Positive experience: Great staff and classes. Would highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: Such a lovely place to do yoga. All levels are welcome.
Fantastic experience: Incredible instructors and very clean facility Really enjoying my hot yoga experience
Positive experience: A nice studio but classes are geared towards beginner yogis only. Some instructors talk way too much or literally cannot stop talking. Classes can get a big crammed, but doesn't seem to be an issue usually. Some instructors talk through every single movement which is annoying for anyone who's ever done yoga before. Nice change rooms.
Positive experience: One of the best yoga studios in Vancouver. Excellent location. Fantastic facility. I enjoy sitting in the sauna for a few minutes before classes. I visit often.
Fantastic experience: New to yoga so I was nervous, but the staff were very friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed my first Hatha class tonight and a nice infrared sauna afterwards. Top notch changing rooms with great showers and amenities.
Positive experience: Friendly staff. Clean facility.
