CFB Trenton South Side Gymnasium: Opinions
Negative experience: Equipment maintenance is terrible. Also people just seem to move stuff around with zero regard for others and there's never any staff around to point you in the right direction. Spent the first half hour I got here looking for assault bikes and found out people had just taken them outside.
Fantastic experience: Nice gym, good prices
Fantastic experience: Great Gym new weight lifting Equipment!!
Positive experience: They are open every day!!! Good hours. Huge fitness area. Played squash. The court area was too warm!!! $4 to play
Positive experience: We started playing pickleball on Saturdays and we enjoy meeting new people/players at all levels of play. The facility is bright with 9 courts however, the section with 6 courts seems to be close together (back to back) and if all 6 courts were to be used it could get tight. Now, there has never been a full house and my suggestion when setting up courts, I would place two courts cross corner from each other in section 1 and use the two end courts in section 2 providing space between courts, hopefully limiting balls interferring in other games. The staff are amazing and do there great job mixing up all players. We will be back enjoying a wonderful ge with wonderful people.
Negative experience: The staff and equipment are great, but the building is falling apart
Negative experience: I like the staff and the equipment is great. But the change rooms have such poor ventilation that's it's always muggy and smells awful.
Negative experience: Change room need renovation top to bottom.
Fantastic experience: Baddy with some friends.
Positive experience: Lots of equipment, but have to book.
Fantastic experience: Awesome for Force Test
Negative experience: Very little equipment and no running track
Negative experience: The gym is "ok" but lacking the basics. I expect a lot more considering how much money PSP and NPF have, and considering PSP encourages personal fitness I expect more. Simple things like HEAT. I'm glad the change rooms are saunas, but the weight room is the same temperature as outside, aside from wearing a snow suit I think I'll go to goodlife from now on. Least they heat the place.
Positive experience: Not a bad gym
Negative experience: The base should put some money into fixing it, bring it up to the standard for the rest of the military
Positive experience: Great gym
Fantastic experience: Very supportive of local wheelchair rugby
Negative experience: It is the worst gym I have visited on a base. It desperately need to be rebuilt.
Fantastic experience: Great gym, some things are too heavy though.
Fantastic experience: We always play here every friday . Basketball then gym after . Very satisfied for the service ang the place is clean.
Fantastic experience: Its free!
Fantastic experience: Nice small gym with a pool and field house. Its usually not too busy.
Positive experience: It's a decently equipped gym. They don't always keep up with maintenance but that's not surprising for the military. The main thing they are short on is squat racks; they only have 3. The staff is friendly and approachable.
Fantastic experience: Very clean facilities and a very nice place to work out
Negative experience: Out of date equipment. Classes are got and miss only due to management not staff. No airconditioning. Every workout is like hot yoga. The whole building should be redone. It's the worst gym facility in the CF by far. Even cold Lake has a gym and staff management that is better than this place.
Positive experience: It's a gym. Lack of indoor running track/ field house is a down side but whatever it has weights cardio section and a basketball court type area
Positive experience: Good equipment and space but book courts ahead of your visit.
Fantastic experience: Free membership and a fine place to get beasted. Finally back for the first time in over three years. The layout is unchanged but no longer familiar to me, so I have a bit of wandering around to do. Had a fun time with my new section playing sports. Got my first instructor-led workout in half a decade. Don't think I've sweat so much in more than twice that long.
Positive experience: Its old
Fantastic experience: Awesome staff.
Positive experience: Not bad for a base gym. Wish it opened earlier. Not ideal for shift workers.
Positive experience: Good gym, good hours, the equipment is well maintained. The selection of equipment is well thought out. Plenty of room on the gym floor and typically quiet. The shower and locker rooms are clean and maintained well. Military mbrs only need id civilians and dependents may require membership cards to enter.
Fantastic experience: Great gym. Great equipment. Fair drop in price
Positive experience: Our base gym. Has many workout machines, but not complete. No indoor Fieldhouse to run around or Rockwall to climb. Still a great place to get a decent workout done.
Fantastic experience: Great place great staff
Fantastic experience: Great gym, lots of equipment and plenty of room to do your own thing
Positive experience: New and old machines. Mostly adult culture. Large gymnasium but call ahead to see if it's booked. Always open even on holidays. Week day staff is more knowledgeable. Cheapest rates around but they offer classes for extra fees if you're interested. Missing a star as it does take long for maintenance to fix issues like broken machines, sauna, ect.
Positive experience: Old equipment but, a good gym with nice staff.
Positive experience: Nice gym great staff. Equipment maintenance needs to improve and this place would be perfect.
Positive experience: Pretty small gym, but still has everything you really need.
Fantastic experience: Very well equipped, clean, helpful staff
Positive experience: Base gym facility and weight room. Pool is located at RecPlex beside Canex
Positive experience: Decent equipment, generally pretty busy.
Positive experience: Good military gym. Has wide variety of equipment.
Fantastic experience: I'll say it's my favourite gym in the Trenton Area. Drop in rates are really reasonable, 2$ for kids (under 18) and 6$ for adults I think. Perfect if you're just in town for a week or two. Good atmosphere, they don't complain if your weights are a bit loud, and they have a chalk stand. Not perfect, they could use another bench and squat rack, but rarely is it so busy that it's a real issue.
