Major renovations are planned for the Casgrain Sports Centre swimming pool. The work will begin in May 2025, the pool will be unavailable during this period. The work is scheduled to be completed by Fall 2026.
Located in the basement of Casgrain, the swimming pool is a six-lane, 25-meter chlorine system with a depth of 1.1 meters in the shallow end and 3.7 meters in the deep end. The pool is maintained at a warm 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) and is equipped with a one-meter spring diving board.
Our recreational swim hours are open to people of all ages and abilities. During these hours there are three lanes in the pool to provide space for lap swimming and the remainder of the pool is open for “free” swim. Please note that the shallow end is closed from 20h00 – 21h00 on Monday and Wednesday and from 16h30 – 17h30 on Tuesday and Thursday for Aquafit classes when in session.
Please note: Lap swimming must happen in the lap lanes not outside the designated lap area. As well the Deep-end section will now vary between “Diving Board” and “Free Deep” every 15 minutes if the diving board is requested.
Please note: No external instructors are permitted to give private lessons during recreational swim hours. For the moment, current John Abbott Staff members are still permitted to teach privates during public swim except during Aqua Fitness times.
The following individuals must be accompanied in the water by an individual who is 13 years of age or older; children ages 0 – 5 years old, any person wearing a personal flotation device, any person who is a weak swimmer or a “non-swimmer”.
All children ages 6-12 years old must be under the supervision of an individual who is 13 years of age or older, the individual supervising the child(ren) must be present on the pool deck.

Welcome to Piscine du Cégep John Abbott, a spacious and well-equipped sports complex located in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Canada. Families love this center for various reasons, including:
- Friendly and helpful staff who are dedicated to providing a great experience.
- Great swimming lessons offered at affordable prices, making it an excellent choice for children to learn swimming skills.
- Clean and well-maintained facilities, ensuring a pleasant environment for all visitors.
- The pool area includes a deep section perfect for diving and a shallow section for younger children, catering to all skill levels.
However, there are some areas for improvement:
- The showers and changing facilities could benefit from more frequent cleaning and maintenance.
- Some users have noted that lane sharing during classes can be challenging due to overcrowding.
- The pool water cleanliness and temperature have received mixed reviews, with some users mentioning murky water and cold showers.
Overall, Piscine du Cégep John Abbott remains a popular destination for families seeking a comprehensive sports experience.
Services, Machines and Guided Classes
Piscine du Cégep John Abbott: Opinions
Negative experience: My kids use to have swimming class here, we love it. But, for this season, the regular class of my son share the same line with a private class. That is not pratical at all for learning. There to much students in the same line.
Positive experience: L' eau est chaude et le personnel très bien. Mais les horaires des bains libres sont vraiment restreintes malheureusement.
Positive experience: Pool is very clean, but near the stands where people sit is dirty and gross. Might need a deep cleaning.
Positive experience: Piscine propre, facile à trouver si on suit l'odeur du chlore. J'adore la partie profonde parfaite pour plonger et la partie peu profonde parfaite pour les plus jeunes
Fantastic experience: I wasn't actually at the pool bit in a hall not far from the pool at a craft event. Today the organizer was very polite and motivating. John Abbott is very spacious and clean.
Negative experience: The staff is lovely but the pool itself is very gross. The tiles are stained, with a line of thick grime where the water surface touches the tile. The water is murky like it has not been cleaned in a while.
Fantastic experience: My daughter loves it. The staff is nice and helpful.
Fantastic experience: Great place for swimming lessons!
Positive experience: Great pool, unfortunately cold showers and cold pool when we went
Positive experience: Looks nice and clean when visited for open house.
Positive experience: Juste passer
Fantastic experience: Always warm pool, best!
Positive experience: Water is a bit cold but otherwise everything was good.
Fantastic experience: Personnel professionnel et courtois. 10/10!
Fantastic experience: Great family place. Clean and the people who work there super nice.
Positive experience: The water is often murky. Not too crowded at lunch time. Check the hours before going.
Positive experience: Nice pool, well organized, need to have etiquette rules for sharing lanes displayed somewhere
Fantastic experience: Beautiful campus amazing staff
Fantastic experience: Great summer camp !
Positive experience: Merci beaucoup
Fantastic experience: Super great
Fantastic experience: Nothing special but got everything you need. Full facilities, pool, gym, squash...
Positive experience: Très bon collège
Fantastic experience: Parfait
Fantastic experience: Older style pool with wooden roof/ceiling. MIS rents space there to give swim lessons at a nice price. Great lockers, showers, changing area, bring a lock! Modern gym equipment and bikes. Handy water fountains. JAC is an example of beautiful campus and architecture, but way too underfunded for decades. Some buildings have been closed for at least 50 years, without money for proper maintenance. Fun to stop by for yearly Ribfest, as there is lots of room to sit on grass or tables under tent. Bus is available.
Positive experience: Aula de natação
Positive experience: Change rooms could use a light cleaning but all in all a good family experience (free swim)
Fantastic experience: Have everything you want.
Fantastic experience: Great for kid's
Negative experience: Vestiaires et toilettes malpropres. Dirty changing rooms and toilets. But staff is fantastic!!
Fantastic experience: Belle installation pour les cours de natation.
Positive experience: Belle piscine
Fantastic experience: Nice center, good price!
Negative experience: 8 kids in one lane is too much. Their is less light in the pool area. The shower temperature is never constant nor is it adjustable.
Negative experience: They seem to have lost some lights over the summer while replacing old fixtures. It is very dark in the pool area. Damaged lockers. Confusing parking signs. Signs indicate only staff allowed. The group's of 8 kids in the same lane constantly bumping into each other. Different ages also. 8 year olds together with 12 year olds doing the back stroke. My child was slapped in the face 6 times while doing back stroke from a boy twice her age and height. In that same swimming class of 8 kids in one lane, their are 4 swimming levels at the same time. Level 7,8,9, and 10. The showers are awful. The temperature is never constant. Also no hooks or shelves nor towel racks in shower cubicles. Only one shower you can adjust the water temperature and it's one of the handicapped shower stalls. Which is always occupied.
Positive experience: Go JAC
Positive experience: The staff is fantastic, the facility is extremely dated and is in desperate need of renovations. Family change rooms would be a great addition.
Fantastic experience: Awesome
Fantastic experience: A remarkably complete sports complex with pool, racquet courts, weight training room, physiotherapy, indoor courts for basketball, badminton, floor hockey, gymnastics, and more. The Blue Cross swimming lessons are offered by the college, for little kids. We really like it because the lessons are affordable and let us keep up the sports habit for our indoors-only-in-winter child.
Positive experience: Very good swimming group lessons.
Positive experience: Great staff; facilities a bit dated
Fantastic experience: Super college
Fantastic experience: Well rounded sports facility
Fantastic experience: Gym, pool, weight room. What more could you ask for.
Positive experience: Renovation would be nice but otherwise great facilities
Positive experience: Great!
Fantastic experience: Sports desk, and pool staff, super nice. Nice pool for training
Fantastic experience: I attend the college and the sport center is well equipped
Positive experience: Once renovations are done, and the library open, it will feel less cramped.
Negative experience: Class size to large.
Fantastic experience: Stands are nice and comfortable to watch a game
Positive experience: Great facility!
Fantastic experience: They help you with everything. Great service. They also don't exploit their workers like most companies do. They actually pay them a decent salary. Please support.
Positive experience: Always available and great support for all activities in casgrain
Fantastic experience: Pool is nice and warm for young kids . Should have family bathroom that connects to pool.
