Cliffside Climbing Gym

Fantastic experience: Visiting from Calgary. Nice little gym. A hundred boulder problems so it kept me busy for my 2 visits. Staff were nice and helpful and community also seemed nice.

Fantastic experience: Booked a birthday party and had Izzy as the staff member helping the kids. She was very nice, well educated and was very helpful with our group. Huge thank you to Izzy and the team for making this day special.

Fantastic experience: I called it a night earlier on my road trip, to be able to drop by and try out these facilities. And I'm glad I did! The facilities are impressive in size. Washrooms are available. And after chatting at front desk I was happy to hear that I could upgrade to top rope drop in, if I could find a partner to do so.. It's been a recent pleasure of mine to check indoor climbing gyms along my travels. Climb Base 5 out of Coquitlam is awesome as well as Gneiss (pronounced nice) in Kelowna. But this one isn't any less fun! It has quite the unique layout. To me anyway :)

Fantastic experience: Came here as visiting climbers and we were both sufficiently impressed! The lady who checked us in was super friendly and even gave me free stickers (always a win). Not the biggest space, but they do a lot with it and we felt it was fairly priced. The grading seemed good and there was plenty to go at in terms of variation in types of problems, and had an extra section up a ladder which was cool! Overall would definitely visit again if we were in the area. Only drawback was no air con, however we were there on a 30+ degree day and it didn't feel unreasonably hot at any point.

Fantastic experience: Great local gym with a relaxed atmosphere. The staff were friendly and great to talk to. The route setting was great with plenty for all skill levels. My only regret is that we were just passing through so couldn't get back there again.

Fantastic experience: My daughter had her birthday party here. It was phenomenal! They were quick and organized getting the kids ready. The party room was a good size and clean. And the guys doing the belaying for the kids went above and beyond. They were constantly giving the kids words of encouragement and appraisal as they climbed and kept it fun the entire time. I would definitely come back.

Fantastic experience: I’d give this place more than 5 * if I could! We didn’t get to climb today but the staff was amazing! My son is autistic and loves to climb things but I wasn’t sure if he would handle the harness and if it would be too much for him BUT the staff was super accommodating and tried to help and make my son comfortable as best as they could! He got way farther than I thought he would which made me happy! We are definitely going to try again! Thanks again!

Also, the fact that it is the only climbing gym in Kamloops makes it the worst climbing gym here, but hey, it is still a solid 5 stars.

Fantastic experience: Went with my husband for a lesson and it was awesome! Sabrina did an awesome job explaining everything and making sure we learn and understand what we need to be safe. I was surprised how much I liked it and I will definitely be back! They have a great variety for every skill level and ypu never run out of new amd different options you haven't climbed or bouldered before.

Fantastic experience: Went for the first time with a friend who's a regular, this was such a friendly environment. There's no pressure to go too fast or push harder than you want to, definitely has a lot of easy routes for a beginner like myself which was very nice.

Fantastic experience: The Owners and staff are exceptionally welcoming and helpful, and the facilities are top notch. The routes are redesigned every 3 or 4 months so it never gets boring. Great atmosphere, and it's easy to talk to anyone and everyone who goes. I started bringing friends and they all love this place as well.

I have to give them bonus points for the cool music - I like ska much better than trap which I found in most gyms (it's more like climbing music to me).

Fantastic experience: Cliffside climbing gym is so much more than just a climbing gym it's a community of climbers who encourage other climbers. In my last 2 years of climbing here I have met tons of friendly people. As a TRU student who moved to kamloops not knowing anyone I have met so many other people from students to other people in the community. This is the most welcoming gym you will attend. Great climbing and if you stay long enough you can listen to closing time. I have learned so much about climbing and community and pushing myself since I started climbing here. Everyone is so welcoming and there is such a great sense of community. Great atmosphere with even better climbing. The owners Simon and Sabrina are always around the gym and can offer helpful advice. They both go out of the way to help people!

Fantastic experience: Really fun place for kids or adults. I went here with some friends and we had a blast! There are tons of different climbing options ranging from beginner to expert. They also have rentals fro equipment like climbing shoes which I recommend using. Great as a weekend activity, wasn't busy when I went and not a lineup to climb the wall you want.

Fantastic experience: Such a good gym!!! Prices are reasonable (especially for memberships), staff are amazing with kids and new climbers, and the climbing is top notch. Bouldering area is awesome with good holds, varied steepness/features, and (most importantly) safe/well maintained crash pads on the floor - the walls are also of reasonable height. Route setting is really impressive! Problems tend more toward techy moves than the thuggy stuff you might find at other bouldering gyms - perfect for developing good problem reading and climbing technique. The climbing community at Cliffside is also amazing. Great place to hang out, make friends, and find outdoor climbing partners. Can't rave about this place enough.

Fantastic experience: My family was on holiday from Ontario when we visited Kamloops. My son is a competitive climber so we visited Cliffside Gym. The gym is modern, clean and well equipped. I was impressed with the couches surrounding the climbing wall which allows non climbers to watch. My son has climbed in gyms throughout North America. Even he was impressed. The climbing routes are well thought out and there is plenty of equipment for doing a training circuit. What impressed me the most though was the owner. I accidentally left my camera case at the gym. The owner took the time and effort to drive the camera case all the way to our hotel to deliver it to me. What a nice guy! If you are a climber, you definitely need to visit this climbing gym. It is worth the drive!
