Quesnel Arts and Recreation Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Universal bathroom has an open door so it is invasive but clean and private shower to lock. Free lockers and amazing staff. cleanliness.A Plus !!!
Fantastic experience: Great rec center, especially for where and what it is. Second only to the TCC in interior BC, but this one isn't affiliated with a university so it's pretty dang great all Things considered. Good gym with cardio, free weights and machines. Busiest between 330 and 6 on weekdays but still very doable. Sauna, steam room, kids sauna and hot tub. Nice ones. Kids pool ranging from half a foot to 3 or 4 feet deep. 25 m lap pool with usually 3/4 of it open for a 10 foot slide, diving board, and Tarzan swing. It is on the older side. You could call it dated and showing it's age in some spots. That said, many modern rec centers don't hit the mark in the same balance of amenities as this one when you combine price, size and variety of gym, and size and variety of "in pool area" options. TCC is better but you'll pay almost triple for it and the piss soaked all gender individual change rooms are nasty. Revelstoke has one of the best "in pool area" setups, but the gym is tiny and lacking. The Quesnel rec center has been gently updated and kept up, but not overhauled since being built 40 years ago, but that's a good thing. See what the pre-globalization, pre-internet world was capable of and perhaps yearn for a return
Fantastic experience: I'm at McDonald's and the coffees always great
Fantastic experience: Always amazing. The majority of the staff go above and beyond and are super friendly. They have even pumped my tire up and have boosted my battery. Amazing people.
Fantastic experience: Great place but pool definitely needs an upgrade
Fantastic experience: Great service
Fantastic experience: Great staff, great rec centre amazing hours :)
Fantastic experience: Delightful
Fantastic experience: Great staff and programs
Fantastic experience: Good swimming pool
Positive experience: Wonderful, helpful front desk staff. So many great fitness classes offered at this facility. Cannot say enough good things. The actual Gym is a bit dated and they could use a bit more variety of equipment but still has all the basics so gets the job done. The lifeguards and swim instructors are amazing, kind and very knowledgeable. The facilities are always clean and well maintained. All and all I was very pleased and would definitely recommend.
Fantastic experience: Love the hours. Being open those hours has been great for me. Thank you!
Negative experience: Don't waste your time, just drive an extra hour and a bit to Williams Lake where the kids can actually hang out in the hot tub like normal people do. The Quesnel pool doesn't have much to offer compared to WL and is quite antiquated.
Positive experience: Good place to swim and relax. The family change rooms are small though. The baby change room for family there is no room for family only mom and baby. No place to sit children down like bucked child seats. There is a playpen you can use though in another change room area. Children under 10 years old are not permitted in hortub even with a parent. Place was clean and super friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: Great staff and great facilities.
Fantastic experience: Just a great place to bring the whole family either for swimming or working out
Fantastic experience: Great time at the pool.anf aquatic class. Hot tub always feels relaxing
Negative experience: It's fine. It's a pool. However, this community is GROWING big and definitely needs upgrades to the rec center. Lots of NEW YOUNG families here...long winters...your mental health needs a good sized rec center Quesnel... I've seen smaller communities with updated or even new and larger facilities. How come the quesnel rec center hasn't been upgraded yet?
Fantastic experience: Good place to be. I went there for a course and the day there doing first aid
Positive experience: Great swimming pool with all facilities you need! Pool, sauna, hot tub, gym, all included. Very good!
Fantastic experience: This place is incredible. I’m not sure who it was, but one of the female staff members, specifically came over to me and told me I was doing a great job with my kiddos. I had all 4, two being 6&3. I was alone in the pool with them, which was extremely difficult, but she made me feel wonderful, just with that small comment.
Positive experience: Pool at our hotel was closed, very pleased to find the rec center. Very friendly, well maintained facility
Positive experience: Nice gym and workout area. Pool is not too bad. Sauna seating needs work, someone's going to get cedar slivers soon. Yeowtch!
Positive experience: Cute little park for the kids
Fantastic experience: We like to go and enjoy the pool, and hot tub. A great way to exercise and relax at the same time. Always clean, and the staff are super friendly. Definitely recommend if you live here or are just visiting and wanna do something
Positive experience: My son's first swimming lesson was great, but I think there were way too many kids at one time to be able to teach
Positive experience: I just wish we got the upgrade. The staff are absolutely amazing.
Negative experience: one of their employees angel nutley stole 500 dollars from me on a internet sale . has our money and merchandise. dont leave your belongs unattended near her
Fantastic experience: Clean pool and area and friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: fantastic facility. Great friendly staff. Nice pools. Hot tub. Saunas. Steam. Multiple heating options. Stand by the door to freeze as a finisher. Please let me back in
Negative experience: I went to the pool today to try and have fun, but the lifeguard there, heather, just seemed to be so against me and my friends the entire time. It seemed everything we did she’d be standing right behind us responding in “don’t do that here.” She’s only been here for6months which I understand but I just wanted to have a good time with my friends at our birthday at the swimming pool like we usually do. It was a very unpleasant experience I understand safety and rules but it truly seemed like this life guard just wanted us out of there and continued to attempt to make us feel wrong the entire time. Hopefully next time it’ll be a better experience :((
Fantastic experience: Everyone relaxing and chattering away the morning....without coffee ☕️
Positive experience: I saw my gym teacher there
Positive experience: Its pretty average based on others from other towns its rather lacking but it serves its purpose well, the combo of having classes and markets during some seasons makes it a great place to visit, just feels like its not trying to bring people in and more its there if people feel like it.
Fantastic experience: The pool and hot tub is very nice . there are 3 saunas.
Fantastic experience: This is a wonderful place. Kind of makes you feel like you are at a resort.
Fantastic experience: Best swimming pool in town
Positive experience: Nice place , good gym with everything
Fantastic experience: Love this place, I spend a lot of time here. They have a lovely garden. The gym, pool, steam room and sauna are excellent! Art gallery is always worth checking out!
Fantastic experience: Good, but there is a Karen there
Positive experience: Staff friendly when I renewed pass.
Positive experience: Not a bad pool at all. Only 3 stars cause that's all we used was the pool . Didn't really look around to see what else they offered. Would use the pool again for sure
Positive experience: Great rainy day fun for kids. Painfully outdated, but it's easy to make the best of it.
Fantastic experience: They have a bike park
Fantastic experience: Very nice pool. Has two saunas, a steam room and a nice hot tub. Clean change rooms. Nice, helpful staff.
Positive experience: Needs more variety for weights over there, other than that, good solid gym to go to, some of the customers that go there are kinda creepy but thats not the rec centres fault lol. The pool is quite nice and so is the rest of that swimming facility. Never really went to the arts place yet, went there for voting and holaaahhhhh those government ladies sucked that was down there. Not one piece of information could be said, they couldnt tell me what I was voting for because that could *sway my vote* of course it would lol, its either I dont vote for whatever that vote was for or I know what im voting for and I'll vote lolol
Positive experience: Good place to workout at the gym. Can get very busy though. Also needs some gym upgrades.
Positive experience: It's a great place everyone is respectful my only issue is when I was about 9 they had a huge blow up course we could go on they haven't had one since I think it would benefit them to have it again
Negative experience: Registered for a course and they" lost me" I had one week to complete course for a great job and they lost my registration.
Fantastic experience: A good small town gym and Rec center!
Positive experience: the place is pretty good but why is the rope swing closed when u can just clean it and im kinda annoyed that the sauna is closed to and 1 thing the are goggles pricey and they suck u need to add a nose part to the goggles then it would be good to be 20$ on them and it would be cool to reduse the chemicals in the water and the place needs an upgrade
Fantastic experience: Helpful and friendly staff
Fantastic experience: Love going there wit the kids and having fun.. glad it's open again.
Fantastic experience: They having always very good to me
Fantastic experience: Gotta sick pump. Feeling pretty swole
Positive experience: My kids love coming here. It's always clean and the staff is friendly
Fantastic experience: The staff is kind and my kids love going there
Fantastic experience: Was out in Quesnel and working in the bush. Used this place once a week for 2 months to soak in the hot tub and steam room as well as get showered and shaved. Great place and friendly staff.
Positive experience: Good play area for children. We stopped there enroute along Highway 97.
Fantastic experience: Took the family for a swim. Great place, plan to go again next year.
Positive experience: Nice and clean pool facility
Fantastic experience: So much to do. Bike park, playground, gymnasium and much more!
Positive experience: Great Artists
Fantastic experience: Love it here
Fantastic experience: The life guards are really great with the kids.
Fantastic experience: Pricescare good. My son loves the pool and staff are polite
Fantastic experience: Fun place to visit
Positive experience: Nice place for all ages
Fantastic experience: great facility
Fantastic experience: Love most of the staff and the classes are great. Pool is a bit lacking but great place in general.
Fantastic experience: Very clean swimming area. Lifeguards are fun and very aware of everything. Great place to take the family ♂️
Positive experience: Great for the town of Quesnel!
Fantastic experience: Great workout.
Fantastic experience: Fun
Fantastic experience: I'm taking my Emergency First Aid here, and our instructor Jen is awesome! The facility is beautiful and the course itself is packed with good information. I'd highly recommend it to anyone.
Fantastic experience: Pool is loved by my son. Warm water is a bonus.
Fantastic experience: Excellent people and terrific services here. The city of Quesnel and the local regional district folks pretty much saved our lives when we were evacuated from the south Cariboo due to wildfires last July. Can't say enough good things about this place.
Positive experience: The saunas are nice, and the gym isn't terrible, but the pool could use an update.
Fantastic experience: Quesnel arts and recreation centre is a great place to spend some time with the kids or alone. Having both a kids pool and full size pool enables both kids and adults space to relax. Three saunas, and a hot tub add to the relaxation. If you are looking for a workout, either cardio or strength training there is a fully stocked gym with plenty of space and a respectable number of machines. Personal training is available in both the gym and the pool, as well as scheduled classes. The arts side of the centre includes art areas, dining hall / gathering Hall and several rooms available for a variety of activities. The rec centre also puts on several arts courses for all ages and skills throughout the year. All in all, Quesnel arts and recreation facilities are top notch!
Positive experience: For a relatively small town this is a pretty decent facility. A good sized gym that's not always busy with a good variety of equipment and weights, and a pool, hot tub, kiddie pool, sauna, a kids sauna and a steam room. The building also includes an arts...area? wing? My experience ends there..
Fantastic experience: All instructors are fantastic and knowledgeable. Great place for children's birthday parties.
Positive experience: A very nice facility for a city this size.
Positive experience: We been there whole month of July Fire Exvacee
Fantastic experience: Its a cool place
Positive experience: Always so busy with birthday party's. Night swim with kids is the way to go. They pull out all the good floaty's during less busy times.
Positive experience: Friendly front desk good variety of programs
Positive experience: The pools are often very busy to the point where I would consider it crowded. Other than it being usually busy the pools are clean and the steam room is amazing. The gym is somewhat antiquated and much of the equipment is in dire need of upgrading.
Negative experience: Truly believe this establishment doesn't even deserve a half a star, (the star is for the Manager who tried to reslove the issue and refunded my money) where do I start, the older lifeguard has HUGE control issues, think its appropriate to yell at adults in front of their children and other parents, has no patience thought maybe she was having a "off" day, but I have witnessed it happen multiple times. She belittled my child confidence in front of me and expects the parents to not stand up for the child, (I was within arm reach at all times of my child, as her parent I would NEVER misjudge MY child safety) , when trying to explain oneself she answers back as "its not her problem", and kick my family out after 3 mins in the pool, (she was pretty vocal I wasnt receiving a refund either ) She wasnt overly busy, her stress level were extremely high for such a SMALL establishment. For the price and quality take the kids to the waterpark, I wouldnt want this ladys first impression to be what out of towners based their opioions on about Quesnel ....Shame on you lady, I suggest a new line of work...you bring out the uguly in people
Fantastic experience: Very accommodating and warm staff! Great steam room.
Positive experience: Older rec center but still a great family venue
Positive experience: I feel the price is too high it's almost seven dollars for an adult who is a resident of Quesnel, coming from the lower mainland where it was five dollars with an Olympic size and regular size pool, a bigger gym with more workout classes to join in and participate, this Rec center is holding Quesnel hostage and needs to lower there prices.
Fantastic experience: Very clean rec centre ... i was impressed.
Fantastic experience: My son loves plays both places
Negative experience: Checked online saying open then get drop off ride gone for couple hours and I find its closed today
